I’m a heavy equipment mechanic in the IUOE. I use my tekton 3/8” flex head more than any other tool. Had it for a few months now with daily use. I really like it. Very tough and just works good
I had one for a brief moment. Really liked it. Returned it because I have too many ratchets already. Might get again down the road. It definitely got a Craftsman aesthetic to it. Fyi for those that don't know. Tekton is Greek for Craftsman.
I just got my 3/8 flex head comfort grip ratchet last week from tekton and it's nice ! I can tell it's going to be one of my go 2 ratchet's .. plus I just got a full set of the gearwrench 90 locking flex head ratchets 1/4 3/8 and a 1/2
@@Lfr-kp1qb that is a tough one .. the gearwrench pawl seems to sound finer as far as the clicking sounds but they are both really good 👍 the advantage the gearwrench has it locks the flex head also which is nice . Just get both lol
I don't know but I'm just getting like super into tools lately and I bought a tekton 3/8 12" flex head ratchet... Coming from husky it's night and day. My father was a mechanic so I was spoiled when I was young using snap-on and Mac. But as an adult with my own tools, do it as a DIY situation... But long story short, using a quality ratchet just feels so much different. Like I love that freaking ratchet. I could fit the head in a tighter space than my breaker bar
I see alot of snap on with the gearwrench handle which is what I prefer (snap-on) As for the tekton flex-head I kinda like the idea of the semi locking flex-head feature as I don't like a full locking flex-head ratchets I know these are my opinions and everyone has their own I'm just glad to see other options in ratchets I will consider the tekton in the future
Good job, Triple-T. I am interested to see how the new flex-head design from Tekton will do under a load for loosening or tightening compared to other non-locking flex-head designs. The Pittsburgh Pro version I had years ago was a joke and the ICON doesn’t look any better. I have the Carlyle bent-handle, 3/8”, non-locking flex-head. It ain’t my “go-to”, but I still have mashed my knuckles at times because the ratchet head moved when I didn’t want it to. The Carlyle, 3/8”, standard length, locking flex-head is my “go-to” though. The ratchet head on the Carlyle ratchets are the slimmest I have I have seen.
I just ordered a 12" 3/8 flex head with the new grip, we'll see. My go to ratchet is a Matco 3/8 locking flex head. I like Matco's lock system better than Snap On's (older style) I still like the screwdriver handle ratchets best of all. Thanks for another great video and the update.
Very nice and ya I'm hoping in the future they release a locking head version as well. Ya I prefer the matco lock over the snap on as well. Thank you. I like the screwdriver handle as well. Thanks for watching
Hello again Tony Thank you for another Great Video. After adding the Husky 144 Ratchets and Harbor Freight Roto Head Ratchets. I don't think, I have the room to add more. Son. let me tell you, what a difference they make!!!! Again thank you
I grabbed the set of 3 and am fairly pleased with them as well. Only complaint I have is that they only released them in the "quick release" version, I would have preferred the non quick release but maybe in a later version.
Just a personal preference. I prefer not to hit a button every time I put a socket on or take one off. Plus most of the time they are a slimmer head and slightly stronger design.
Even though I have a ton of older USA made Craftsman tools, I recently jumped on the Tekton bandwagon due to the disappointing Chinese Craftsman quality vs. price. Initially I ordered the 3 piece 18", 12" and 8" comfort grip (3/8's) ratchet set, as well as an initial 3/8's drive standard and deep metric socket set to assess their quality. When they arrived I was extremely impressed at both the quality on the ratchets (90 tooth), and the chrome and roll stamping on the sockets......so much so that I ordered several more (standard & deep) sets. Dollar for dollar vs. quality, their tools seem to be the best bang for the buck out there. Not to mention their warranty and rewards program......So far I'm sold
I was wondering how the handle has held up on these tekton.I was going to order a set online .I do all my work outside so not sure if these handle will get sticky or gross.I have a Mac comfort grip that held up well it's a hard plastic
I might pick one up to try if they come out with a slim head, long handle 1/4", just don't need any more 3/8 ratchets and Tekton products have never really done anything for me.
Looks like supply chain issues are hitting Tekton. Socket rail sets and ratcheting wrenches not available on their website. I wonder if that is also affecting warranty exchanges as well. I'm considering ordering from Tekton for the first time, but don't want to run into warranty issues like I've read the modern day Craftsman company has evolved into.
Can the comfort grips be applied to the Tekton ratchet set I already have? If i had any criticism of my Tekton ratchet set, it would be the comfort of the handles.
From a couple different view points I think tekton has the better quality to price ratio and better warranty / customer care. Don't get me wrong I truly enjoy most gearwrench products but I am more selective when it comes to the gearwrench line up bc the quality varies. Just my opinion.
@@TonyTheTechnician good to know just received my first tekton ratchet and was immediately impressed with the feel and back drag. But must admit that gear wrench ratchets just look more premium while the tekton looks a little cheap especially with the laser etching naming. So yeah I see what you mean.
I cant imagine a comfort grip being too large preventing the use of a ratchet.I also dont know why you thought it wasnt going to be comfortable and would be awkward just by looking at it.
Lmao you obviously haven't used very many comfort grip Ratchets. Have you never seen the large oval handles? And are you telling me you have never looked at something and been able to tell it looks uncomfortable or that it looks awkward? 🤔🤣👀 come on now...

@@TonyTheTechnician I concur, My Friend, on the locking flex-head. I reckon it is just a matter of time.
If you take a torx bit to tighten it a bit more it will hold in place better.
@@ZetaN7 I attempted that with the Pittsburgh Pro version flex-head ratchet I had to ensure the torx bolt was tightened down, it did not help.
Do you have a video on how you made that custom grip handle?
I showed it when I first did it. I turned down the ratchet in a lathe at work and then pressed it into the multibit screwdriver handle.

I'm still waiting on the hard handle design. So what is the çost for a Tony çustom ratchet?
