Day 1 patch notes:
-I did forget that the Enemy Index does list the items each enemy drops, but a proper item index to let you search for them from the reverse direction would still be really helpful.
-I mentioned 1DE's autosave feature, and given how 3 included one as well I'd be very surprised if this game did not also add one to X.
-If they include tombstones (they should), there should be an option in the Enemy Index listing for Tyrants you've already defeated to skip travel directly to their tomb.
-Since you now need NSO to participate in the online features, there should be some way to get tickets offline for players who don't have it beyond the free trial. This could be some form of soloing the existing online missions, or a new grinding method that's less efficient than multiplayer.
-Speaking of online, I'd love it if they did something similar to the Switch Splatoon games and added a pseudo-Miiverse feature limited just to this game.
-The Wii U version legitimately has USB keyboard support. I don't know if the Switch as a whole even supports that, but it would be neat for there to be a proper text chat room for people on your friend list.
-Tatsu's dad should be revealed to be Riku in the new story.

the game itself has behemoth amount of content compared to the other entries they're gonna need to put in double or even triple the work to make the QOL changes feel like a whole new experience with tons of added features/changes

Smaller file sizes are partially because of flash storage. When storing on a spinning disk (either a bluray disc or a harddrive) you need to duplicate a bunch of data a bunch of times to cut down on loading speeds. So this is an increase from the internal storage versions to these new cartridge versions.
A Jukebox-esque mechanic in the barracks or menu would be pretty neat, imagine having a radio for all of NLA or your Skell

That's what Im hoping for too, the OST was rather divisive and there was some discourse around it when the game came out, I'm thinking of a similar thing like XBDE with possibly a remixed OST or possibly some volume slider options, given that they improved the audio mixing from the trailer it does seem they're well aware of it

My speculation is that X2 is the next mainline game in the series and Monolith is re-releasing X now to get the fans ready.
X DE will most likely have a new epilogue similar to Future Redeemed & connected, that’ll be a few extra hours of story content and gameplay that’ll be set ups for what’s to come later in the sequel X2.
And before anyone says “they didn’t announce an epilogue” give it some time. When XCDE was originally announced they didn’t announce Future Connected alongside it initially. I assume we’ll get a Xeno focused direct towards release that’ll reveal the epilogue or whatever new story content they have planned.
I want an X2 solely for another full Sawano soundtrack. I love the soundtracks of 2 and 3 but X is something special and hasn’t been replicated in any other titles.
I’m not sure how general audience would take if the next mainline entry is X2 given how different X is to the numbered games, it’s not story or character focused and is instead more side content focused, it would dissapoint many people if the next mainline entry is like that.
@@sollato0293 This might be what this rerelease is for. There's a lot of new fans that are switch-only, so introduce them to the way X does things and if the next big project is also an X game, there's a bit more precedence for them.
Do understand that X is the title with the least story. There was a lot of content planned that never made it, and the story in general feels unfinished. The extra story content is probably the stuff that never made it. Sooo many unanswered questions in that game, and sure not everything needs answers, but there are just some things that feel really out of place in it. I'll keep it at that to avoid spoilers.
@@sollato0293 MonolithSoft is no stranger to shocking it's fans, though. X was drastically different than 1 when it was first revealed, and then 2 also was drastically different than both of them when it was also revealed.

Well it certainly seems like the designs for Moebius took a lot of elements from The Black Knights concept art
So i found xeno at 2, went back to play 1de and then 3 and its my favorite series ever. X now coming to switch is INCREDIBLE. I tried playing on wii emulator but it just wasnt the same. Im so damn jazzed for this release.

I subscribe to the idea that 2 and 3 formed from the original story plans for X that were cut. JBSphereFreak and SparksOpus collaborated on some videos that laid this idea out in a fairly convincing manner
I also think that X is the origin for 3's concept ever since they said they had the concept of 3 before making 2. X and 3 have a lot of similarities, so it would make sense that they realized they had to change a lot of things (and make 2) to make the concept fit in with the events of 1 so they kept X as is and separate, otherwise they would have had to scrap most of it.

Saw the cat and immediately thought it might be one of the developer's actual cats they meticulously modeled after and put into the game. Most cats in video games i've seen - which is a very limited number mind you - don't ever look that unique.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who remembered that the Aegis Cores are used to splitting apart & becoming 2 entirely different people. I can see the Black Knight being Malos' version of A, while the Alpha version (the part without any of the humanity that's mostly a logic-focused way of thinking) could potentially be the Great One that the Ganglion worship. Only because it would take some sort of higher power to strengthen the Ganglion & make them confident enough to break away from the Samaar Federation.
My thought is that it's this universe's version of malos. Basically one that isn't being smothered by his driver's influence, where you could see shades of it in 2 and torna where he's calm, a tease and a bit sarcastic but cared. But I want just once for him to yell to show that yeah, he's INDEED malos, and being this universe's version of him, still capable of having a destructive nature if pushed too far.
Also many compared N to being a golden jin, malos being his sword basically makes it not a joke. I think it's pretty sweet of him actually to reunite with him or someone very similar. Malos respects power, but I think why he befriended jin was, aside from his growing guilt, because some part of him was reminded of his trinity sibling alvis. It's why he ended up connecting with jin so much, though i don't think he had conscious memories of alvis, unless it was like pyra who had vague memories at best of what elysium was. I've said for years jin is 2's version of alvis, even getting the red core crystal from becoming a perfect flesh eater. so malos was probably reminded of him even more; the additional powers also made him respect jin more, knowing they came at a price. Realizing that damn, he really had it in him to go through with it.
I agree with X being an alternate universe and that the Samaarians and Ganglion are actually the original humans from Klaus’ universe who were sucked into the X universe because of the experiment. Also, gotta say, massive props to talking about the people who said you’d be upset with X being ported instead of saga and saying how X is still an important game, I respect you so much more than i already did before, Luxin.
That seems like it might have been the original intention since briefly you see the Samaarian ships and they look like Abel's Ark from Saga. That would be imagry suggesting travel between domains.

I think the painting is meant to be a clue about the consuls and their past but we have so little to go off of that the painting could be almost anything.
Fun fact too, in JP, both Gwin and Malos share the same JP VA, so its unlikely the black knight is Malos.
But the fact he sounds indentical/extremely similar doesn't discount it's malos. If it isn't david menkin (malos' va) it could be a glimmer situation where they could not get the original va (skye bennett who voiced pyra and mythra) so they got another va who could sound like her. Heard some say it sounds like matt mercer, which is funny because that's lao's va, but he never sounds quite the same to me so i couldn't say. It wouldn't be the first time he's talked to himself but it sounds exactly like david menkin to me; its easily in his range and malos does talk in a normal voice a few times.

XCX:DE Future Retconned
A lot of people forget that for the portable consoles of Nintendo, it is very typical to have games that run on both and upscale something while using the enhanced hardware, they did it wit the Game boy color, the expansion pack for the N64, they did it with the Wii U, it would not suprise me that X has enhancements on the switch succesor

But the thing is, if you cross reference with real life information of UAP/NHI, there has been official talk by David Grusch that they are interdimensional. At that, possibly future humans.
So considering real life information coming out about our own reality, it isn't a stretch for a fantasy/sci-fi series to cross over in such a way.
If it is possible in our own reality, why not in this game that takes from reality, science, religion and so on for their story.

I want to jump on your point about how they could expand on L's character. I noticed during my last playthrough of the game that he only ever refers to himself as "we." If he does that in other languages too, I would love for them to explore that. I'd argue that he's fluent enough in English to know that referring to himself as "we" is grammatically incorrect. It's really just idioms he struggles with. He could be referring to his entire species, but he's the only member of his species that we see. We don't even so much as see any signs that are other members of his species on Mira. I want to know what's going on there.
He could, technically, be using the royal "we", assuming he's been looking through more antiquated information (a bit fitting for his demeanor).
That just raises the question of why he's fine using royalty terms though.

Watching your last video I was watching the X footage in the background and thinking how I really hope a definitive edition comes out next year and then two days later they announced it. Perfect timings
Honestly, this proves switch 2 will be back compatible with switch games. Monolith will show their new ip game on switch 2, while ALL of Xenoblade can be played on switch 2. Monolith has been KILLING it this gen. Every game on the switch and X cost an arm and leg to be port to switch. Tho monolith deserved it. They carried nintendo this gen.
Wasn't it leaked/confirmed that the new switch will use the same iso's (whatever) as the current switch. Which people have theorised is why they don't want emulators now (since they would also work on games on the new switch)
@@TheKastellan I heard that the flash cards their using are different. They are 3d stacking the nodes for more memory speed and storage size. This may be a 3ds kinda way with the cart. Plus the SOC is custom built for the switch in mind, Nvidia could easily make the SOC emulate the switch 1 to 1 or the SOC has the Tegra x1 onboard the custom SOC.

I just realized, but the additional story content for X DE is kinda confirmed to be more chapters and not a separate campaign like FC was:
- The logo for 1 has the Monado paint strokes
- 2 had the flames and Pyra's cross design on the 2 itself
- 3 had the particles and term mark
- X has the stylized X and bullets through the title
- Torna the engraving and Tornan emblem
- FR had both the Flames and paint strokes
- and FC had Feathers, which were also present around 1 DE's, well "DE" part.
But X DE's "DE" text has nothing around it. doesn't that imply that it's not its own bonus campaign but a Bigger X?

I'm betting they'll retcon a few lines in the near-Earth space battle scene.
1 didn't change a single line in the base game. But they redesigned alvis's necklace and turned it into a different kind of key. I'm thinking if they redesign anything else, it will be implicative changes and connections like that.

Random idea: Remember the place the Aegises could visit? It was some sort of mental world that feels similar to that spot where Noah hesitated about ending the endless now. Since when they visited there, their bodies didn’t vanish, I believe it is some conceptual or soul based world, which the people on Mira are connected to, which could keep them tethered despite the Lifehold database being destroyed. That place seems to have something to do with the Trinity Processor (guess what the Lifehold looks like), and because of that I personally expect that that world is where Lao and the Black Knight are, in human bodies, because that is how they see themselves.
We then have plenty of open room for Zohar shenanigans, whether or not it connects back to 1, 2, 3, and Saga. Personally, I don’t see Cross coming into the Radio Saga, because custom character, but Elma is very likely if it connects.
(Insert here several paranoia filled paragraphs ranting about the Nopon Arcsage. They were a severe tangent.)
If X and the Radio Saga are connected, then I see that as a possible connection point, with the rifts creating some connection between the worlds. The one thing that bugs me about this is the aliens, as Saga very clearly doesn’t have aliens, and connecting them would either mean taking only a few characters from X, connecting the Saga and X galaxies, or completely isolating every alien on Mira from their civilizations. All 3 could be done, but they would all have to be handled very carefully. Given their previous work, I think they could handle it, but it feels almost like unnecessary complexity that would dilute the story with things that don’t contribute proportional to the amount of time they would demand.
Additionally, X is an alternate reality, and if the MCU has taught me anything, it is that a multiverse and time travel are the easiest ways to destroy all investment in a long running series.
So I would probably would prefer that the universes remain separate, because Blade and Saga have the excuse that they were definitely all the same world the whole time, X requires a complete alternate history that opens a door that can’t be closed. The Arcsage seems to be able to bypass this, but at this point, I am half convinced that he is an Upper Domain being, and therefore, doesn’t have to follow any rules, which could be why Nopon are seemingly native to every Zohar created pocket dimension. (Thinking about this last sentence has gotten me even more paranoid about Nopon being connected to the Upper Domain.)
I am pretty sure I had a point I was working towards at some point. I think it was that I think that Mira is or has a Trinity Processor type soul space that fits into the updated Radio lore better.
The best thing about this is that it opens the possibility of X2 being made, if X sells well
I really love how I became a fan of this series because of XC3 and THERE`S SO MUCH CONTENT and just keeps coming!
I so desperately want this to answer a lot of hanging questions the original left, but I have a feeling that just like XC1DE that the new story content is gonna be fairly brief, maybe answer a couple small things, and mostly serve only as a setup to the next X game. Which is funny to say when the original ended on a gigantic cliffhanger, but you know. But this also just means more Xenoblade X content in 2025 and a very real possibility of a sequel to it in the near future since the original trilogy is done, and I couldn't be happier.
As for ideas, I had an idea that since Xenoblade X is the most like an MMO experience but still very much mostly a single-player game, that Xenoblade X could be re-released and treated like one where it gets expansions as story continuations rather than sequels. Because the way X is designed seems perfect for the idea of expanding the playable game world, adding new sidequests and multiplayer missions, more classes, etc. Obviously that likely won't happen with this version, but I think it's an interesting way to go about it. Of course this'd also pose a problem for a Nintendo console which traditionally has a criminally low amount of storage space.
This could be a reason for that nintendo online mmo they did with the 10k players. Imagine a switch 2 with this as a sequal but on a better system. Seeing rumours that the switch 2 has a bigger storage can lean to monolith going into a mmo style for xenoblade x. Plus they’re working on another ip too.
I'd rather it not become a true MMO, maybe something like Monster Hunter with lobbies you can play with strangers and friends with but are also completely capable of playing solo. The switch is a handhold first and foremost and those will often be in places without internet access compared to other consoles. I really don't like the idea of always online games on a mobile console

The thing that made me genuinely happy was seeing that the trailer had 52k likes like 24 hours after the video released. For reference, ALOT of Nintendo videos get maybe a few thousand likes.
I don't care if X doesn't connect to the wider series. I'm just so happy more people will be able to experience and that the chances of a proper follow up have increased.
I replied to a comment earlier saying that all Xeno titles are connected somewhat. I feel like they're gonna try and make X tie in to the larger series while having it make sense and not ruining anything.

I am sure the re-release of X with additional content will work as "bridge" to the next mainline arc. Considering the Klaus saga culminated in XBC3 future redeemed. The will make X now fit in the canon somehow, which isn´t that much of a task considering how FR already made hints for all Xeno games being connected in one way or the other. So in retrospective X will be some kind of glimpse we already got long ago what direction the series will go for eventually. And I am pretty pretty sure we will see characters of both - X and the mainline series - in future entries together.
Three things: Firstly, IIRC XC2's engine is more or less a modified port job of X's engine due to them simply not having time to wait for Nintendo to make the proper base Switch engine - an issue shared by all the big launch year titles except MK8D, which doubled as both a game release and the test paylod for the development of said engine - so we have no idea how much of X was already ported to Switch or how much of it would just work if they put it into the final XC2 engine, so that answer doesn't really tell us anything about if they already had plans for this to happen.
Secondly, one of the really weird tradeoffs in game development is that you can use duplicate copies of assets to reduce loading times at the cost of increasing file sizes - loading times include time spent searching for the assets being loaded in the file system, and duplicate copies of assets can be used to create bundles of assets that can be loaded as a group with a single file search - so the question of if the original game did this to any extent is important because if it did its filesize becomes useless for comparisons.
Thirdly, I am personally sceptical of claims that the Switch 2 will be next year. Our one Direct for the year had way more 2025 stuff in it than I would expect if they were launching it in the first half of next year, particularly since it was allegedly focused on games releasing this year, and given how well a first half launch worked for the Switch, I am sceptical of any claims of Nintendo launching a new console in the second half of any year.
How massive are the enemies in this game? The Gradivus, The Headless Emperor enemy at around 53:40 has toenails five times the character’s size. Makes Rotbart and Gonzalez look like cubs.
Positively gargantuan. Having played it myself, just the comparison of size between ground gear and skells is pretty hefty, and enemies STILL dwarf you. Milesaurs like Gravidus are def among some of the bigger ones. That said, they are by no means the largest. The Zu Pharg is like... a small mountain in size? Good fight too, imo.

I don't know why everyone is taking the voice over the cloaked character as definitely 100% that character saying that line, as if trailers don't often just grab other voice lines form elsewhere in a project that can fit over a shot without spoiling what's actually happening.
In terms of links to the rest of the series, I recall there being a collectible you could find in the sea around Noctilum that was a figurine clearly referencing the Bionis and Mechonis
on top of that, the Verus skell is actually a mistranslation and is meant to be Wels, which is what it's called in the Japanese version

The one thing i hope they fix is the insane clutter of the UI and borderline unreadable text in some instances.
Some of the text and font choices were really stupid in the original, and the tiny size of the text could make it nearly impossible to read some of it because of how tiny and blurry it could get... They did a great job with XC1s remake, so i hope they do a similar great job with fixing Xs UI as well...
16:50 dynamic resolution doesnt affect the ui in xenoblade games from what i remember. Ui is always max resolution.

As someone who played this game ten years ago, on behalf of the fanbase we need request these quality of life changes, 1) Toggle off the NLA night theme, 2) Allow the Full overdrive song Wir Fleigen to play, 3) Fix the repetitive swim sound, 4) Skell flight theme delay.

15 Gb, Jesus fuck. And as someone who has played both Xenoblade X and Elden Ring, I can say that the latter has a bigger file size while having less content in it. Nothing against Elden Ring, it's a good game with lots of stuff in it but compared to what X has to offer it falls way behind.

I just feel that Klaus's Experiment and White Whale fleeing the earth are going to be one and the same. Even if retcons are necessary, it makes too much sense, and the radio really supports this in Future Reedeemed I believe?
Orrr it's a fated event across several universe and only the who earth is at war with changes. Could be civil war, could be the artificial humans fighting over the human rights bill and further oppression, or the aliens. klaus and the conduit are what changes the outcome drastically from the other two. There's no mention of leaving earth because aion and the conduit are their last ditch plan.

ironically i think the new voice sounds like Matt Mercer which would obviously have a lot of implications seeing as he is the voice of Lao himself. Lao's eyes are the same in both shots too.

Well when launched on the Wii U Xenoblade Chronicles X biggest critisism was that the main story was to short and that the final boss didn't really feel like the real final boss. If they just add more chapters and a different final villain it would sorta push this to 9.5 / 10 game.
The second thing people complained about was lack of quest tracking, especially for quest where you needed a certain material. If they also fix this it would pretty much be a perfect game.
The cat actually has increased polygons. Look at its tail. It looks similar, but I’m not sure if it’s the same model.

I wonder if the additional story is actually gonna be an extension of the main game or if it’s gonna be like FC or FR where it’s a separate story in the main menu-which means we probably won’t play as our OC. Cause if they include the additional story in the main base game they’d probably have to get the Va’s back for your OC character. Or, for X DE they’ll have to completely recast all the voices your OC can have.

Small correction on 1:13:10 THERE are in fact some non-human skell parts. I believe you can get Ganglion/Orpeon unquire skell parts from the Qumoervea's in the skys aboce Cauldros. And wrothian parts from some of the side missions as well as the Sword from the vita time attack mission. So not every Skell PART is of human make.
17:00 Well, to be fair, dynamic resolution doesn't usually affect UI. Most games treat it as a separate layer and only down-res the real-time environment. Probably easiest to see this is the TTYD remake. The HUD is rendered in full 1080, but the gameplay is lower.
