Yes, those shots really make the videos. I can't help thinking how much trouble you must go to to get them, especially the distant shots of the car - so professional looking.
It blows my mind how amazing those drone shots are that you take. Something that would have once needed a helicopter camera crew is now available to anyone. Still not particularly cheap, but a bit more affordable! They really add a lot to the story, the arial shots of the standing stones and the roads, to the ferry at the end. Take them out and you still have a good video, but they add so much.
Yes, my mum would never give a purse as a gift without a coin in it otherwise it would 'always be empty'. A northern thing, perhaps? Well done, Chris! Good work 😂
I find peace watching your videos, I have grandparents generations back, who came from Skye. I think about going there to stay. Your life there is a great reprieve from what’s happening here in America right now. I feel like you have become family. Love to watch! Give your doggies hugs from us!
Loved all the history and tours of the ancient ruins. Your story of meeting is fun! I really appreciated seeing the travels on the road from above. One of my very favorite books is called Nurse, Come You Here, and it takes place in the Hebrides. She talks about traveling the roads during treacherous weather, and how narrow and steep they are. I now have a visual of what she endured being the district nurse! As a retired nurse, it is fascinating to me to picture what her life was like, and how far she would have to travel to check on her patients. There are some harrowing moments during her career there for sure!
Years ago visited callanish and remember having to hide behind one of the stones as we got all the seasons in o. . !ne day wind snow rain but no sun we also visited a seer who told us some incredible stories from his youth dupernatural tales7(;
Always, love watching your video's, your amazing drawings and music. I am from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. One day I will make it over there. But, I really want to go to Isle of Ulva. My grandfather's ancestors are from there (Bearnus) and were burnt out. They came to Bruce County, Ontario. My grandmother side was from Blairgowrie, she left in 1911. So I am very interested in seeing your adventures and trips. Thank you for sharing and taking me with you. Wish you much success. Cheers
I loved seeing the Isles of Harris and Lewis. My heart is in Scotland. I have to admit that I love watching your videos so much I often forget to like them til the very end and have to rewind in order to have time to do it. Y’all are wonderful!
Hooray it's Sunday. Loved seeing the standing stones! Have you ever watched or read "Outlander"? (Don't touch the stones in case you can travel!) Outlander is how I fell in love with Scotland. Also because of the show/books I learned so much Scottish history. Best episode ever and loved hearing about how you met. You certainly belong together!
I was a huge fan for first couple of seasons but gradually lost interest when they left Scotland. Without the impending battle of Culloden the series seemed to lose its focus. Sam seemed to lose interest, his passionate personality appeared diminished and the myriad of disparate secondary characters did not trigger any interest in their fortunes. Brianna's lack of acting ability was a real disappointment verging on embarrassment. I would have loved to experience the effects the catastrophic battle had on the people and landscape of Scotland and how the English took advantage of their victory to tear out the heart of this once proud nation.
A friend of mine was a pharmacist on Lewis, he had a croft house and barn in a little hamlet called islibhig on the isle of Lewis. When he left the island he retained the croft house but turned it into a bothy for anyone to use as shelter. I went with him for a visit to the property at the end of the 90's. I remember I was going through stress at the time, and just being in this place made me realise how most things were insignificant in comparison to this beautiful landscape. On the way back after a week on the island we visit a a beach called Hushinish on Harris which was absolutely beautiful, and looked like a Caribbean beach, little rowing boat drawn up, just stunning!
That stone circle reminds me of my native culture we also have circles that have 4 dividing lines we call it the 4 directions medicine wheel if you google it many books will come up. Many peoples around the world have many ancient similarities that it just boggles the mind to know how manystill exist today. My imagination goes crazy when thinking of what life was like back then on a remote Island because getting to and from the mainland must have been terrifying in bad weather. Loved it!!!
Loved your last two videos guys. It looks so wild and free. Coming over from Sydney Australia next year so writing a list of all your places you visit on Isle of Skye and Lewis and Harris. Thanks guys and look forward to your next video.
😊 “we met on Tinder!”… little knowing what the future would bring… I can positively say you guys were supposed to meet & thanks to Chris for getting you to message back Sarah 😂 beautiful end to a lovely wee family holiday - thanks for taking us along! ❤️
I enjoyed this so much! I traveled to the Butt on a sunny day in April earlier this year. I saw Dun Carloway and the Blue Pig shop near Callinish standing stones. I saw the stones in October 2022. Great video and fab self catering!
My husband, Peter, 'stumbled' on your channel a couple of months or so ago. We watched one of your vlogs and I was hooked. I started watching from the beginning, with your first vlog, watching one a day - sometimes two when we were having Skye like winds and rain here on the North Norfolk coast! Yesterday, I watched Ep71; I am now up to date. I have so enjoyed watching how life is panning out for you, with your ups and downs and welcoming your new addition to the clan. You have inspired me to 'have a go' at vloging with my simple camera, phone and our camcorder, covering various aspects of our life, here in Overstrand. I have, of course, subscribed so I won't miss any of your future vlogs. Peter grows most of our veggies, so I'm looking forward to seeing what those raised beds produce. Take care and stay safe. Janet xx
Scotland never fails to intrigue and fascinate me, though I probably will never get to visit. Do the two of you ever go backpacking/camping? It would be wonderful to see you and the dogs spend a night in a bothy. Much appreciation from the USA.
Hi guys and woofs 🥃absolutely brilliant!! Great footage and amazing filming and thanks for taken me back to the very same spots, you both are true ambassadors for Scotland 🏴🏴.. I too worked on turbines but Fort Augustus... Living on top of a mountain does strange things to the mind🤔🤔🥃🥃 anyhoo thank god for tinder and wullies joke.. And here we all are, your all a joy. Cheers 🏴👍🥃 Rob.
I do all my adventuring on UA-cam,discovering my ancestral heritage. Those Brock’s are so cool, really liking the road trip, second best , only the one you like best is better.
Your videos get better and better. The interior of the black--house fascinated me. The broch sequence would have been far less informative without your accomplished drone shots, and they were also great for the ferry arrival. It was courageous of you to talk about how you met each other but I think we viewers very much appreciated you sharing that with us.
I live in West Cornwall where we have many a ancient stone structures such as stone circles, fogous and stone capped burial chambers known as quoits. We also face out to open sea, once you pass the isles of Scilly the next stop is America! Love your channel and especially singing along to 'living the Skye life'
My daughter was part of a archaeological team that went to Lewis many years ago. Despite the weather and the ticks she loved it there, it felt like time travelling 😁💖x
Love your videos, but you made me so homesick! I loved your last one where you took the ferry over to the remote island. The beauty of the nature and beaches was incredible. Oh, how I could easily live over there! Good thing, here in northern Vermont, USA we have some really beautiful nature, but nothing can compare to what you have.
Loved the little tour of the rest of Harris & Lewis you showed us! I always looked forward to the weekly uploads although it's a shame it's not a Sunday night upload for us here in Aus! Would love if you could get down to Oban one day and show us around. It's somewhere I'm hoping to get to myself when I can make another trip to the Scottish Highlands. Otherwise we'd love to see more of the Outer Hebrides!
Thank goodness for Tinder and other sites where like minded people can meet up with a view to friendship and maybe ❤. My daughter met her now New Zealand 🇳🇿 husband on one of these dating sites when she moved from the UK on her own to live and work in New Zealand. She is a nurse and worked shifts and nights so it was difficult to meet people. Her first meet up was for a coffee at lunchtime and her second was to meet his parents! I felt relieved that he wasn't an axe murderer! Married at 41, their handsome son born at 42. The moral of this tale is that there is hope and there are people out there. ❤
What a difference the weather was the 2 ferry rides! Beautiful no matter the weather, but glad you had some sunny days! And thank you again for sharing your time there; I need to get back there soon!
You can find the brochs in Sardinia, I was guiding there one summer for american big cruiserboats. Those brochs are called Nuraghe and are constructed the same way with double walls etc. You find them all around the coast on Sardinia and I think you can find them in other parts of Europe and also a litlle east of Europe I think ... most of them are round but there were some with other shapes too ❤
Did I miss something on the story of how you met? Sarah, were you on is island for the music festival and invited Willie to come over for a meet and greet? I wasn't quite clear where you actually met and how things progressed from there. Thanks so much for going to Lewis and filming some of my ancestral homeland that I'll probably never get to see in real life.
I (Sarah) was on Lewis when Willie messaged on Tinder and I only decided to reply because my friend liked his joke about wind turbines! We met up in person back on the mainland in Stirling 😊
Hello Sarah and Willie, great video today I loved all the history and sites that you showed. That was pretty cute how you both met I can see why going back to the site where you both met is so special. Looking forward to the next video Great job 👍
I love going on holidays with you all... seeing the islands, standing stones, old buildings has been amazing! My Mum always put a coin in purses as well (Welsh ancestory). I've always kept up the tradition as well! :)
I'm finally getting to watch you guys on Thursday, doing a bit of moving and down sizing from a 3/2 house to a tiny house. 16 years of pack ratting, bit me in the butt this week. It's so good to just stretch out and watch you guys.
Another wonderful video!!!!! Thanks for taking us with you, and glad to hear you took some time for yourselves. Beautiful scenery, and I love the comedy. Jack and Nory are adorable. Hugs to you all, from Colorado USA.
Your land rover has served you well on these trips and with the dogs. Love the Darth Vader joke, well done Willie. Thank you both for taking us on this journey, very interesting about those stones and black houses. I love your music Willie, I find the song on the end living the 'Skye life' always have me tapping my feet. Have a lovely day.
Hey guys! I’m so happy I stumbled over your channel, it’s absolutely amazing! ❤ Me and my son are going on a road trip through Scotland in August and we are wisiting both Skye and Lewis and Harris! Can’t wait to se everything you’ve showed us in real life! ❤
I think it's so wonderful how considerate you both are to the other animals (ie sheep, highland cows, seals etc.) when you're out and about with the pups....those Calanais stones are wild, so much history and the mystery of why they originated is so interesting.
love the "meet-cute" story :) met my husband online, too, but if I had told that joke at the time, it would have been radio silence from him, lol! Me, on the other hand...I love corny jokes
I just returned from an 18 day road trip of Scotland. It was my first time visiting this beautiful and dramatic country. We were so incredibly lucky to have stunning weather, some days in the 70's❤ I love watching your videos and fantasized about running into you on our day trip to Skye...maybe next time.
Great and beautiful places to see 😁 love the way you filmed it and great music. Add these 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 to your thumbs up counter. Great adventures love to see more...
Such great explorations out there. Standing stones, broch, and other interesting structures to see. Absolutely beautiful out there. Wonderful story of how you two met. I always enjoy watching your video. ❤
Love it. Especially that in few days time me, my husband and 2 friends are starting Hebridean Way walk. We all have visited Harris last year and fell in love. So now we are coming back with bing bang 😊 Great video. Thank you.
The Brochs at Glenelg are awesome. Definitely worth a day trip and you can get the little car ferry direct from Skye to Glenelg. wildlife is also insane there. Would suggest a drive back, as the Ratagan Pass is awesome. Worth an explore. We were there last year. I introduced my family to your vlogs every evening.
Perfect absolutely amazing scenery. Just love this video. Thanks for sharing. I love the old buildings and seeing inside them. Look forward to your next adventure. Have a good week guys.
I've never been to Scotland, so why is it that I always end up so emotional at the beautiful journeys you make? Love Jack listening to everything that is said to him, I suspect that doggie has more intelligence than me lol.
I loved seeing the mystical standing stones, the majestic broch, and the fascinating black house. It amazes me that you can just wander through them without a tour guide holding your hand!
Willie and Sarah, Actually I thought that this was do romantic and it shows in how you treat each other. I 'm not surprised , you are both artists , music and painting go hand in hand:) Cheers, Rik Spector
Have been binge watching your last three videos as we have been away for a while! Love hearing how people meet, and so lovely that the island has such a special connection to you both. Loved the video xxx
The Callanish Stones gave me goose-bumps.What amazing history. Thanks for sharing all the history. How high can your drone go? I love the views you give us.
Went to the Outer Hebrides over 20yrs ago and was blown away by the beauty of the place. Blessed by Mediterranean style weather for 2 weeks...ok perhaps not quite as hot but glorious anyway. Bought a photograph of the Stones at Callanaish from a nearby gallery. The central stone had snow on top of it making it look like slice of wedding cake. Did the Black house...remarkably cosy and smoky! Fabulous unforgettable holiday.
Another brilliant video. The Scottish islands are definitely on the list to visit - it's a bit of a drive from Cornwall, but it's on the list. If you ever make it to St Kilda, that would be fascinating. Friends worked out there and between the non-herding sheep, the St Kilda mouse, and the dead seabird porridge, it sounds so interesting. I look forward to your next adventures. Best wishes from sunny Cornwall
I've visited lots of stones and circles, but Calanais (like the ring of Brodgar) has a very different feel about it. Almost like we are just visitors to the stones and the people who put them there are watching on protecting them. It's hard to put into words, but it's a feeling I've rarely felt elsewhere (and I'm not a superstitious or easily spooked person). If you've not already been, Kilmartin Glen (near Oban) is well worth a visit. So many ancient sites in such a small area, and great walks too!
Just found your UA-cam channel, and I'm really enjoying it! When you say that nobody knows what these brocks are about, I find that interesting. 🤔I've never heard of them or seen them before, but to me it's really obvious that they are places where the community would run to to find shelter if marauding neighbors decided it was time to rape, plunder and pillage! If you have only one small entrance into this structure, you would be pretty safe. And there are two walls that would have to be breached from the outside. Also, that narrow circular passage could be a place to store food. This just seems like the best use for this ancient structure. Thank you for sharing!🌺🌈💚🙋♀️
I think you guys and the boys would enjoy the boat ride from Elgol to Loch Coruisk and back. The view from Elgol to the Cuilins has been called the finest view in the United Kingdom, and the walk around the loch is amazing.
*Possible early lighthouses... as they are right on a hill above the seashore to warn ships/boats of the dangers of the rocks.... or to watch out for the enemy coming to invade their land?? Great history lessons in this video. 🙂Love the bloopers at the end too 🙂nz*
I live in North Central MN and I so love your channel and your sweet dogs..I love all things Scottish and I have 2 rescue dogs..I am fascinated by what you find in the waterways across from your home. Greetings and love from MN, USA

I like the way you are such responsible dog owners and considerate of other creatures like the sheep.
However you got together, I’m just SO delighted that you did,and that you’ve chosen to share your incredible lives with us! Thank you all!
Willie and Sarah, you also put money in shoes and coats you gift, too.🧥🥾 They will have traveling money. Loved this island trip.✨
Willy, your music is so perfect for where you are and what you do! Beautiful!
Ahh thanks so much!!
I totally agree. The music is very fitting for the video.
I'm always so amazed by your drone footage. Not just the scenery, but your skill with it. Great cinematography!
Yes, those shots really make the videos. I can't help thinking how much trouble you must go to to get them, especially the distant shots of the car - so professional looking.

for yourselves. Beautiful scenery, and I love the comedy. Jack and Nory are adorable. Hugs to you all, from Colorado USA.
Thanks so much!!
Sarah and Willy, thank you for sharing your trip with us. The story of your first meeting is sweet❤️❤️
I think it's so wonderful how considerate you both are to the other animals (ie sheep, highland cows, seals etc.) when you're out and about with the pups....those Calanais stones are wild, so much history and the mystery of why they originated is so interesting.
Thanks so much!!
Great episode! I’m lucky to have visited Calanais several times, what a wonderful, magical place! ❤️
Thanks
Thanks so much!!
love the "meet-cute" story :) met my husband online, too, but if I had told that joke at the time, it would have been radio silence from him, lol!
Scotland is stunning isn’t it! Love living here and sharing our lives here in the far north 🏴 on our YT channel x
Loved seeing Lewis and Harris, can’t wait to move up to Scotland next year and spend lots of time exploring all the different areas 😍
Aww amazing!! Hope the move goes smoothly 🤞
Love the way Jack listens to you talking!!😂
Great and beautiful places to see 😁 love the way you filmed it and great music. Add these 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 to your thumbs up counter.
Great adventures love to see more...
Such great explorations out there. Standing stones, broch, and other interesting structures to see. Absolutely beautiful out there. Wonderful story of how you two met. I always enjoy watching your video. ❤
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed it 😊
Love it. Especially that in few days time me, my husband and 2 friends are starting Hebridean Way walk.
We all have visited Harris last year and fell in love. So now we are coming back with bing bang 😊
Great video. Thank you.
The standing stones are amazing and very stunning. Nice to see in solitude. Makes you wonder who placed them and why.
So nice u consider the mother & baby lambs. 😊
A very special vlog by two very special people 😊😊😊
Perfect absolutely amazing scenery.
Merci for the truly heartwarming tours! Being of Scot-Irish descent, the history is very interesting! Love from GA, USA!❤
Nori gave you side eye when you told him not to eat moss 😅😅I have never seen such expressive dogs ❤
Ahaha he’s such a cheeky monkey! And delights in doing the opposite of what’s he told at the moment…
Those standing stones are amazing! Thanks for visiting and sharing with us.
You’re very welcome!! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Travels with Sarah and Willie - the highlight of my Sunday. Willie - your music is wonderful. It enhances the vlogs beautifully.
I loved seeing the mystical standing stones, the majestic broch, and the fascinating black house. It amazes me that you can just wander through them without a tour guide holding your hand!
So interesting and picturesque and the drone footage makes it feel so dramatic. Everything enhanced by the brilliant music 😊
Thanks so much!!
Love the way the music matched the scenery ❤ Also enjoyed seeing the scenery and clouds ⛅️ 😍
Willie and Sarah,
Actually I thought that this was do romantic and
it shows in how you treat each other.
I 'm not surprised , you are both artists , music and painting go hand in hand:)
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Have been binge watching your last three videos as we have been away for a while! Love hearing how people meet, and so lovely that the island has such a special connection to you both. Loved the video xxx
Ah thanks so much! It was nice to visit the island together that played a part in our story 😊
The Callanish Stones gave me goose-bumps.What amazing history. Thanks for sharing all the history. How high can your drone go? I love the views you give us.
I really enjoyed this video. Can't get over the lack of trees. The stones are very interesting. Thanks for taking us along.
We love seeing the buildings and the amazing landscape . Heritage and history. Sunny beauty.
This is a beautiful location. I had never heard of these rock formations. The dwellings are also very interesting. 🌷🌿🐕🇺🇸
We know what you mean! They have such a presence in the landscape that they just have been so significant to the people that made them. So enigmatic!
It is a handsel. A token of good luck and wealth an act to inaugurate a new venture.
Have enjoyed your UA-cam broadcasts! Thank you!❤️
Loving the wild and beautiful isles.
Windmill jokes are a unique In getting a date - lots of wind apparently worked - you’re a cute and caring couple! ❤️
Ahahaha! He had a unique approach I’ll give him that 😅
"Maybe the metal detector isn't the way to go." Love it, Willy!🤣😂🤣
It really wasn’t the successful opening line he thought it was 🤣
I think you guys and the boys would enjoy the boat ride from Elgol to Loch Coruisk and back. The view from Elgol to the Cuilins has been called the finest view in the United Kingdom, and the walk around the loch is amazing.
Yes we would love to go there, although it might be a while before we trust Nori on a boat that small - so much chaos could be caused 😅
*Possible early lighthouses... as they are right on a hill above the seashore to warn ships/boats of the dangers of the rocks.... or to watch out for the enemy coming to invade their land?? Great history lessons in this video. 🙂Love the bloopers at the end too 🙂nz*
Your videos are always so relaxing. Great to go on vacation with you!
I live in North Central MN and I so love your channel and your sweet dogs..I love all things Scottish and I have 2 rescue dogs..I am fascinated by what you find in the waterways across from your home. Greetings and love from MN, USA
Charming❤ Absolutely beautiful there
Wonderful episode! I loved seeing the broche, the black house the white house, and the ruins. Oh Gee and the standing Stones too!
