+Tom Pennock Thanks bro¡ i dream about a full studio version
Peter Capaldi will now live on as the "Rockstar Doctor". all in favor say aye!
AYE!!!!
+Ryan Sheridan AYE!!
AYE sir
+Ryan Sheridan AYE x 100!
AYE!
"I looked like I was trying to be a rockstar." Good sir, you clearly are, and I salute you.
sometimes I forget Peter Capaldi was in a band and then scenes like this remind me of how awesome he is
Am I the only one who finds Peter's obsession with his guitar adorable?
nope
+Fleur Inoue On the internet, you're never the only one of anything.
Getting Capaldi to play the Doctor = best decision ever. Having Capaldi play the guitar as the Doctor... just pure epic. I certainly hope there will be more of it in the show. It totally suits his Doctor.
...aaand just when I thought I couldn't love him any more....he goes and does cool shit like this.
0:09 the only way I will ever want to turn up at my wedding
+Kerri Angel Marry me then? x)
+Léa Fleury doesn't know u probably
+Kerri Angel The only way I will ever want to turn up at ANY wedding. To quote Amy, "you can definitely kiss the bride".
+Kerri Angel fuck yeah
That's how I'll turn up at my funeral!
He is officially my fav (and the 'coolest' Doctor so far imo) I love him so much omg
Yes, Guitars. I love Guitars. Guitars are cool!
Guitars in all of time and SPACE.
Guitars, GUitars... GUITARS!
We love Guitars, everybody loves GUITARS. :D
+Rasmus Elo Jensen "I play guitars now, guitars are cool"
i could really see Capaldi being the 'cool uncle' type.
+Nerdtrap The Doctor - in ANY incarnation (except maybe the first, who was kinda uptight in the way only emo adolescents can be (And that's what he was comparatively speaking. :D ) has ALWAYS been "The Cool Uncle". *SAGE NOD*
+logandarklighter Does the Fifth Doctor count too?
But of course!
Number 5 (And 10 and 11) are "the cool uncle" who, by accident of timing of their own birth happen to be not much older than you are. The "cool uncle" who really GETS your love for Star Wars or Star Trek etc because he was such an uber-geek for them first.
And probably was the one who introduced YOU to the fandom too. ("Hey all, this is my nephew. Show him all your cool toys!") :D
Wait. He doesn’t look old enough to be anyone’s uncle
As a rock guitar player and a big Doctor Who fan, I can't explain how awesome this is. I really hope we get to see more of the rockstar Doctor.
Peter Capaldi is fantastic! He brings a level of maturity and yet immaturity together....
Damn i was expecting Craig Ferguson to show up on Drums in the background ( ಥ ﹏ ಥ )
😂😂😂 Very Cheeky. I totally understood that!
+Tici Toty Tony Exactly what I was thinking. LOL
+John Maloney Lolz!!!
+John Maloney me too I thought he would come on playing the drums being pulled along by two men in a horse costume.
He Plays electric guitar too ! and I thought this man couldn't be more awesome !
+ Thien Thuan Tran Well yea, he was the lead singer and guitarist in a band with Craig Ferguson.
+Caitlin Lawson Google "Dream Boys Capaldi"
Just do it!
+ThatAussieGirl Yes, that Craig Ferguson. Also, remember in "The Late Late Show" theme song you'd see Craig playing the drums? Guess what instrument he played in the punk-rock band. : )
The Black Widdower I bet Craig doesn't wear pants behind the drumset lol
+ThatAussieGirl Thank you , I was like O.O at his comment like uhhhh..... good for you for knowing that electric and acoustic are both guitars ? lol
I love him playing the guitar. If you don't already know, Peter was in a punk band called the Dreamboys with Craig Ferguson. :)
It's a thing now. The Doctor will just have a guitar on him at all times.
+TheRandomPerson 02 And his spoon.
Its his fez, hope to see plenty more of it in the show... Why wouldt a version of the love the guitar
+Marius Møller Patrick Troughton had a recorder, Tom Baker had a long scarf, David Tennant had a pair of converse, Matt Smith had a fez and bow tie, Peter Capaldi has a guitar, weirdly I think that's become his piece :) Not sure if that was intentional or just supposed to be a one time thing, but they should definitely keep it in my opinion :)
Fair enough, aha I do watch Classic Who I swear :) But mainly the Tom Baker era, meaning to go on with the later classic era, also listen to the Big Finish stories for the 8th Doctor :)
+TheRandomPerson 02 Well... he did say he was the 'de-Fender' of the earth.
Playing the theme, no less. Wondrous!
This makes me so happy.
Oh Missy you're so fine you're so fine you blow my mind Hey Missy!! Hey Hey Hey Missy!!
I died at that part. It was so funny
kara smith it's so punny ^_______^
Doctor +sunglasses+ guitar+tank= BADASS
Peter was sooooo good on guitar!!!
I want to see him and Craig Ferguson reunite their band!
01:38 - Capaldi: "The Silence of Space will be *shattered* by power chords coming from the TARDIS!"
Been watching Doctor Who since Tom Baker and if you'd told me back then that the Doctor one day would be laying down axe riffs and WAH WAH from a bitchin' guitar I would've laughed and said you were crazy.
And I AM laughing - in sheer wacked out joy because God DAMN if Capaldi doesn't actually make it WORK!!! And it's STILL the DOCTOR.
Fucking EPIC. :D
Watching the faces he makes while playing just give me so much life I can't even cope
Damn. Gotta love this guy! He's been practicing in his trailer -- ! Somebody asked whether Capaldi actually played the music in Ep 1 S9. Here's your answer -- he probably recorded it separately, and mimed the playing for the scene (who needs all those extra electrical cables lying around when people are acting a scene?).
is it me or is every doctor kinda sexy? my crush started with peter Davison but capaldi is just something else. oh god I love a man that can play a guitar.
Did anyone else notice the song is the theme song?
Tom Baker has always reminded me of Brian May, and now listen at 0:10 The Doctor is playing, "Tie Your Mother Down" by Queen! Again he plays the song at 1:08
That's what I thought too!
+transtremm It's the Doctor Who theme
+transtremm the second one is the drwho theme
Explosion of ovaries. What. A. Dude.
"I play the guitar now. Guitar's are cool!"
Love this so much
as a guitarist I like this a lot
it's funny as hell. xD
FANTASTIC
Van Halen, Queen, and The Big O all played by The Doctor, was so very epic.
LOVED that he played Pretty Woman xD ♡♥ A* for that! :D ♡♥
Absolutely brilliant entrance. Laughed my ass off.
he's amazing
OMG
+Josh Gwynne asked what kind of guitar it is, but my reply under his comment wouldn't go through. It's a Yamaha SGV800.
He should be in acdc with those plaid pants and guitar
I have a feeling the guitar is going to be Twelve's fez.
Can we get a season where the Doctor 'isn't' dying one of these days?
The Critical Geek It's like Moffat's trump card. It seems like every season now it's all about killing the Doctor. I miss when he could just save people without having to have some kind of personal stake in the mix beyond wanting to save people. It's good enough for the individual episodes, why can't it just be the plot of the season that shit's going down and the Doctor comes in to save these people instead of it always having to revolve around him.
+Bushflare Well the show is called Doctor Who so it is going revolve around the doctor a lot but I see your point but really I think the show is getting better every year but really just because in this ep he said that he dying do not mean that the whole of series 9 is going to be about him leading him up to his death at the end of the series. Maybe it just for this doctor who story.
R Taylor Smith's first season was about the Tardis exploding. Second opened with him getting shot and dying and was all about Amy and the assassin coming to kill the Doctor. Then it was all about the Doctor going to the fields of Trenzalore and loads of people trying to kill him.
I am really getting burned out on being told the Doctor and his Companions are the only important people in the universe. Some of the best episodes in the series have come along simply because the Doctor's travel was being used as a framing device for his injection into a more interesting story. Stuff like 'Blink' and 'A Town Called Mercy'.
Yes, sometimes it is great fun to focus on the Doctor ('The Doctor's Wife') but I'm starting to get really burned out on this.
Atop that, the vast majority of problems in New Who are Science-Fiction problems, instead of exploiting the fact that we can travel through time and have problems caused by all manner of historical figures instead of random monsters. You'd think the BBC's reserves of period costumes and traditionally trained actors could be put to more use than just adding flavour to the monster of the week.
It's still good, but I'm getting really tired of this.
+Bushflare I like death of the doctor arcs, but I can absolutely see how they could be controversial or how people could really dislike them. Luckily I don't think that's what this series is about - it seems to me that the whole death arc is just for this opening two-parter. I'm not sure about what the finale entails, but judging by minor spoilers to episode 11 it sounds like it will be really original.
Separately, even this episode didn't really feel like a "death of the doctor" arc in the same way that, say, Impossible Astronaut did. I think that the confession dial was a separate plot point, and that the Doctor really just felt that he deserved to die at that moment. He was seeped in some mixture of shame and self-pity, and I think that characterization fits 12 really well.
+Bushflare If you do not approve of the Doctor and his companions being the most important people in the universe, you are really watching the wrong show because it has been that way for 52 years.
If you're wondering; it's a Yamaha SGV 800
Peter Capaldi's guitars from Doctor Who Season 9 are:
Yamaha SGV-800 (The Magican's Apprentice, Before the Flood. The Woman Who Lived)
Epiphone G-400 Pro (Hell Bent)
Now we know who this Doctor is: he's the rock star!
Peter,
you are now my favorite.
BRILLIANT
can I just have the clip of him playing from the show and not all the talking bits
As though I needed more reason to love 12
I was looking up the model of a guitar, one of the three I own, found out it was a Yamaha sg-5 from the late 60's. Mine's fully white but thing was it took me a while to identify it, then noted a side reference to its Capaldi/Who use. My TV channel package got shuffled so I missed a full two regenerations. Great clip though.
Well Vastra did say once that he was in a band with Marcus Aerelius on bass, so this isn't entirely out of the realm of possibilities.
Is that how the big bang started? From a power chord blasting from the TARDIS by the Doctor?
The show has really gotten the change it needed. The Doctor is cool again
If the Doctor had jammed with Jimi with his guitar in the late 1960's.... it would have been with the Yamaha SGV - that being the make and model - that I own... oh, yes, I have a mostly complete (but disassembled) 1969 model. Best looking guitar ever made. I regret the day I took it apart and promptly lost some of the innards.... anyone got a Tardis I could borrow?
Тот момент когда я влюбилась в 12 окончательно и бесповоротно))))!!!!!
Bill, Ted and Marty approve.
party bill party on ted party on doctor dude!
There need's to be an episode about the Doctor teaching Eddie Van Halen how to tap, or any awesome guitar player.
+sunnysurfer101MA Well, not ABOUT that, just a little joke in an episode involving said time era.
It's a Yamaha SGV300
Thank you so much! Been looking for this, no one seemed to know what type it was
+ArriCAT5e In fact it is an SGV 800. The SGV 300 has a different pickup configuration....
ChibaCityBlues
I know. My mistake
+ArriCAT5e Nevermind. I just love both models, but up until now I was just able to aquire the sgv 300... Still so cool to know that the Doctor plays a flying samurai guitar as well.
"I play guitar now, guitars are cool."
Why did I expect him to play Uprising by Muse?
Did they use the Yamaha when doing the audio in post?
CAN I PLEASE GET THIS AS A RINGTONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PAAAAAAAALEEEEEEEEEEEESSEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
This was the single greatest moment in Doctor Who history.
I wanna see a Woodstock episode with the doctor plating guitar
Só o melhor doctor.
doctor who is awesome and the 12th doctor is my third fav
A Yamaha SGV-300,
+transtremm Thank you. I was looking through the comments specifically to find that out.
and now I keep dreaming of becoming his drummer companion
The guitar scene cracked me up laughing 🎸😂
I'am looking for any tabs of this. Can you help me?
i really really love him, and he is good as doctor however people say hes not
I got mine yesterday and I dident realize I had the same one
Loved the guitar god sequence.
Didn't jar at all which surprised me.
Probably the ego made it work.
:-)
Luv and Peace.
+Anny whocares When something is so odd or unexpected that it sort of jerks you out of the story or breaks immersion that would be what we call jarring.
What was that song he played for Missy and Clare. I know it was something with girl but I can't remember the title. I knew it when i heard it and then forgot.
Pretty Woman
+Dorito Hunter 420 That was it.
+misterrcommenter Pretty Woman for Clara and Hey Mickey for Missy
O damn I haven't seen this episode aww
The best moment of the Twelfth Doctor XD
Pity he didn't bump into Bill and Ted and jammed with Wyld Stallyns.
well he did play george harrison what did you expect?
+m1994a3jagnew
Thank you, I never knew he played 1 of my favorite singers
what is the song that he plays with the guitar?? i realy love it
HIS HAIR IS SO FLUFFY!
i have only one question:
how did he put a tank inside the tardis?????
So the sunglasses are the new bowtie, while the guitar is the new fez. Except don't kill it.
i would have liked his guitar to be the new sonic screwdriver, but the sunglasses are pretty cool to
go Peter Capaldi
1st Doctor: You cannot rewrite history not one line
12th Doctor: 1:36
What say Klara in 0:46 - 1:05 P.s. I don't know English very well.
best scene of the episode
Are we not going to address how much he resembled Eric Clapton in that episode? :3
Il dechire le docteur avec la guitare et les lunettes super sonic !!!!
Stop fidgeting, Peter! Funny, I just had a mental image of the Doctor picking up his guitar after losing Clara and playing "Love Hurts" "I have a guitar now. Guitars are cool."
I think you meant Series 9.
Will this mean we might see Craig Ferguson make a cameo appearance on the drums??
Grey hair, t-shirt, hoody, long coat, doc marten's shoes, sonic sunglasses, and a yoo yoo and 2000 year worth of swag.
Thats our Doctor Disco!
Beat that the rest of you lots!
I miss Jenna!
No matter how cool you think you are, you will never be "The Doctor playing electric guitar on top of a tank" cool.
now all we need is A Sonic Guitar
Which guitar is hé playing ?
anyone know what the 1st riff was?
guitar suites 12th doctor :-)... so Doctor when you going on tour :-)
i hope it wasnt just for the first episode
Looks a lot like my first electric guitar.
A literal beginners guitar that costs barely 100 USD
