I was in HMP Highdown in the UK about 5 years ago and there was this guy who ran all the spice and weed on the house block, sold phones, tobacco, everyone owed him something and he had people collecting debts for him. His cell was mad he had a big double cell to himself and had everything in there you could imagine. The screws knew full well what he was upto and never spun his cell once
I was on the same landing as him just a few cells down and a couple of nights a week he would have drones coming to his cell window dropping of parcels! The screws would always stay well clear they must have known when he was getting his deliveries, the guy was in full control of that wing it was crazy!

I was an inmate worker in reception for a little while. Dudes in there ratted me out for hustling food from the kitchen. You can live as good there as a federal camp

I did about 4 months in a Florida jail and you could buy decaffeinated coffee packs from canteen, but they got rid of the regular because people were snorting it. I hope that never happens with the Ramen. It only takes one or two people to screw it up!

Holiday meals in NY state prisons are a two-sided coin. The lunch is what you'd typically think of as far as a fat holiday tray is concerned. However, the kitchen staff would only work half a day. On your way out of the chow hall they hand you a brown paper bag with two bologna sandwiches, an apple and a plastic thing of juice. That would be your holiday dinner.

One time my cellie said that if I drank a yellow bag of coffee between 6-10 PM that he would give me a 8 oz bag of Taster's Choice. I was making them thick AF and about 9 pm I had about 1 thick cup left. I started getting sick. I took a long pull off that last cup and started projectile vomiting into the toilet. My cellie told me to quit, he'll pay me. I finished puking, flipped him off, and then chugged the rest! Caffeine overload! I had a headache and went to sleep pretty quick. It wasn't a restful sleep, though! True story! Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution 1995.

In CA, the store is on the yard. So when it’s your turn to shop you go out with everyone and you also have to come in with everyone so you’re stuck out there with all your goods until yard is over. There were 24packs of soda lined up on tables with full bags of commissary next to them. And never, not once, did I see or hear about anyone trying to jack someone else’s shit.
It was level 4, that might shed some light as to why no one even tried!
