Housing is 20% less because of the poverty levels in Caroline County. Also, most people who live out in the boonies, don't commute to Richmond or Fredericksburg, they take the long haul to DC. An hour plus commute on a bus, train or i-95 is not fun 5x week.
Yeah I’m sure that lengthy commute isn’t fun. The interesting thing is we have found just as many people making hour plus commutes in Stafford and Spotsylvania too. I guess it’s the nature of the beast in the part of the country we live.
For clarity's sake, I wanted to give some actual statistics for Carolie County. The percentage of people living below the poverty line is 8.2%. The national average of people living below the poverty line is 12.8%. The percentage of people living in Caroline County who commute an hour or more to work is 16.04. The average commute for Caroline County residents is 35 minutes.
We are currently looking to relocate out there and it is exactly 35 minutes from my husband’s job! We were unable to tour the area as it is a secured community. We have boys who are nine, and are wanting find out if there are children at that age group that live in that community.
My husbands job is transferring him to Caroline County. Are there any places to get where we can build an off grid home or laws that allow RV life on your own property with a large building or barndominium beside the RV hookup area
There are certainly places in Caroline where you could build an off grid home. The latter part of your question is not one I have encountered. However, I know of someone who has some experience with this topic in Caroline. I will check and get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for the comment and the question. Jeff
@@wheretoliveFredericksburg thank YOU for your response! I really appreciate it. We certainly will support you two as best as possible. Thanks for the videos and info you present on your channel. It’s helped us with understanding the Fredericksburg and the surrounding areas. We’d prefer more or less a tiny home or small log cabin that we will build that’s more or less off grid and by a water source if possible. We are keeping our home here in NC so I suppose finding the right land to purchase and area (we want to be inbetween Ruther Glen and Fredericksburg). We looked at a rv community that had amenities but it looked a little sketch and might be hard adhering to that kind of lifestyle for now. I love how you said Caroline County is for nature lovers and it’s peaceful. I will be shopping at the Fredericksburg Food Co-op for groceries though because of food allergies and needing local organic produce. So it’s hard to say what’s the best area. Thanks again.
@@Eye2C33 I suspect the RV Community you mentioned is Indian Acres. If so, that is actually in Spotsylvania County, just a little bit north of Caroline County. There seems to be a lot of discrepancy between what some people in the county say about permanent RV living on your own land. I think the best move is to contact the planning and zoning department directly to get your questions answered. I am including the phone number below. Let me know how else we can help you. @@wheretoliveFredericksburg thank you very much for getting back with me and this information! That is so kind and helpful. And yes you guessed it…. It was Indian Acres! I joined their fb groups just to get a good feel of it but we will see! Owning our own private land might be the best route to take. Thanks again.
I just came across this video about Caroline County and have to give my opinion. If I could go back to Stafford I would in a heartbeat! There is literally NOTHING out here but woods & open fields. There are zero employment opportunities, no medical centers/hospitals, no choice in dining or groceries. The diversity is almost non existent, no kind of entertainment, it's ridiculously far away from everything. I've seen more churches than anything else around here. I honestly believe this place is for retired Caucasian people
