    The ventilation guys are right, air flow will be much better with smooth sheet metal running as straight as possible with as few and as large radius angles as possible. I actually replaced a setup very much like this (flexible hoses replaced with straight sheet metal) and the improvement in air flow was HUGE! Also sheet metal, there's a whole industry of HVAC parts around this vs nothing for plastic pipe. Lastly, in a small space like this it will help if you are able to design it to create a pressure drop, ie negative pressure in the room, as by having exhaust flow greater than in-flow. Air temperature drops with pressure so this would in effect turn the whole room into an air conditioner. All these minor quibbles aside I am impressed and admiring this rig! It is very much like what I have been thinking of doing!

      Dude, hadn't looked at this forever- but you are totally right- we used that setup for two months and then hired an HVAC guy to run duct ventilation with a hot / cold wall setup.
      Now we are out in the oil fields container mining- want to see a 2 petahash rig?

    You are running a bit over two tons of airflow (400cfm per ton) you need at least a ten inch exhaust to keep the static pressure down and increase the life expectancy of that exhausting fan bro. Also, lower static means less power consumption.

    hey man, your intake opening is larger than your outake. that's backwards. FYI just having that fan mounted on top would do the job. you don't need any of that extra stuff. The 12" is strong enough to pull fresh air in on its own without active cooling.

    Can you post the sound level in dB in the room ? If you had any miners running during the video I couldn't hear them which would be a great testament to the sound dampening effects of the insulated duct on the exhaust.

    How much are you paying for electricity? I have done some mining and I've run the calculations numerous times and I've determined that if you are in the US paying anywhere from $.10 to $.15 per KWH, the cost of electricity will exceed the value of the coins mined.
    I've heard of people using solar power to run the operation. Is this practical? Can you generate enough power and store it using solar-power?

  • @Elliandr

    I'm thinking of building a new room in my basement, and sound proofing it, with space and outlets for up to 30 Antminer S9 units. Your system sounds interesting, but it sounds like I would need to move 7,500 CFM. However, I can't seem to find a fan that would move that much air and would still work with such a setup. Can you recommend anything in particular? Additionally, would I need a larger PVC pipe?
    What I'm thinking of doing is using my miners to keep my house and greenhouse warm in the winter, and supplying the miners with outside air. Maybe also installing a switch that would close the pipes when it gets too warm in either the house or greenhouse and then venting the heat outside directly. However, in warmer months I'm not too sure. If I draw air from outside it would be too hot, and if I draw it from inside it would move so much air that it would ruin air conditioning. I'm thinking of running the cold water line that leads to the space heater in loops around the room to help keep it cool and transfer heat to the water, but not sure how effective that would be with sound proofing lining the inside walls and the room for pipes being behind that. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

      "However, I can't seem to find a fan that would move that much air and would still work with such a setup."Keep in mind that each of the Antminers contribute to moving that much air so start there. Hint: multiple fans.

      You should be able to make money as long as BTC doesn't drop too much. I also have similar power rates here in the northwest. We have hydro power. Also it's much easier to profit in the winter when miners stay cooler and miners supply heat to the house.

      I don't mine any of the other coins, after what I have seen mining the last few years is all the coins are linked to Bitcoin- if it is doing well so are they, if not, the Alt coins follow suit.
      Bitcoin will be the most stable investment- Mine Dodgecoin if you need $ for the dark web- I sometimes but it when it is low priced, but I don't mine it.
      BTC in month? I am not sure man- here is a link to a calculator-
      www.bitcoinx.com/profit/
      I already am up to 15 + miners including a few R4 units-
      I made some videos about bitcoin hobby vs. business-
      the R4 is a good unit for home use- the S9's are LOUD, and pump out crazy heat-
      I am just about to put up a video of my new setup
      Fire off any questions you have- I do video by request, if you need info on where to get mining gear I have a site-

    • @manthings4916
      @manthings4916 7 років тому

      Akash Singh if you get a 2.5 ton mini split, that should take care of your cooling needs. The system is variable capacity and runs on 110v power. Source: AC technician/ installed 3 years. Side note, you would be better served in this situation by venting the heat from the miners directly outdoors and having the mini split supply cooler air to the intake sides. A 2.5 ton mini split will put out ~ 1000 cfm. Try to exhaust 750-800 cfm to an exterior space and allow the mini split to supply cool air to the farm. Enjoy

      I came to know that if we use Ac to cool the miner it generates moisture on the Circuit boards and can have problem after that. Is it right?

    • @manthings4916
      @manthings4916 7 років тому

      mohd zeeshan that depends on a few variables, however, moisture is naturally removed from the area via the AC. It's why you have to have plumbing to the unit to remove the moisture in your home. Unless you pipe the water into the GPU rack directly your risk of humidity damage is actually lessened by placing an AC unit in the room.

    • @manthings4916
      @manthings4916 7 років тому

      Do you happen to know what the year round average for humidity is in your area? If not, could I get a rough area for you to help you out?

    • @manthings4916
      @manthings4916 7 років тому

      mohd zeeshan in direct response to your question, wrong. AC removes moisture via condensation. Installing an AC in the room absolutely cannot hurt the mining rig as long as the condensate is removed with proper plumbing. You will NOT hurt your components. If that were true then server rooms and data centers would not have AC at all

      I need to go back and show how much more was added, right now in a PPLNS pool we earn a 1 BTC in ten days or less, sometimes only 7 days, so usually 3.5 BTC a month is the average, but I am always buying new machines when they are for sale

    why dont use air condition its better as i think

    • @bryceguy3536
      @bryceguy3536  7 років тому

      Air Conditioning is an option, it takes a huge AC unit to keep it cool- like 1250 watts 24/7, we are looking into an AC unit that will pipe cool air right into the intakes vs. cooling the whole room.

    • @blakek1699
      @blakek1699 6 років тому

      Miner Digi - mainly the initial setup... I have almost everything in place but the miners won't be here until late Jan.

    • @MinerDigi
      @MinerDigi 6 років тому

      Gothca, if you are on the Jan 28th Batch than you will prob receive them any day now. Its a very simple process. I have a new batch of miners coming in any day now as well so I will make a full setup video from literally unpacking it, hooking up the power supply and connecting it your pool to start hashing. If you need just the video to setup the miner to start hashing I have that already.. here is the link brother, or its on my channel under setting up antminer to antpool

      Good luck and I hope this helps!!!
