Replacing the disc and pads are a must in my opinion especially after sitting for so many years. It’s a peace of mind for the new owner and adds more value to it than what it cost you. 👍
Rob, I have to say I agree with you on the discs for the Porsche. There is nothing that I hate more than looking at a beautiful shiny car and then seeing a set of tatty discs. I would have replaced them exactly as you did.
Totally the right thing to do, fitting new disks and pads to a high performance vehicle like that Seeing them will give the buyer confidence in the car
Changing disc,s n pads is piece of mind for new owner also help you sleep better aswell so good job allround! Love you easy listening content! Keep up great work fella,s 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Been using eazibleed for 20 years, great bit of kit. When the seals started to get a hard, I contacted Gibson's and they sent me out a few free of charge, how great is that!
Bang on to do the breaks there Rob. That’s the exact reason why you both have such a good rep…your attention to detail and doing the right thing. Can’t wait to see this beauty get finished.
Loved that wrap up and totally agree, about keeping positive. And I love the fact that you won't risk things going wrong down the road for you customers when you know there might be an issue. You will always fix is properly. 👍
986 brake components are cheap as chips, so renewing them is worthwhile. Makes the car look great, and certainly makes it much easier to sell. A set of "Boxster S style" drilled discs is what I would have fitted, though.
Good work guys I’ve owned a porsche Boxster 987 since 2014 and drive it regularly (I think yours is a 986 model) I just keep on top of everything and its been totally reliable. Tiptronic gearbox has been faultless and I’ve had two gearbox services just as preventive maintenance. Disc and pads & fluids are to be changed as required- no difference to any other car. Always follow you guys Chris especially makes me smile. Keep it up
Evening guys. Another top video on the Porsche 👍🏻 Changing those pads & discs was a 100% right Rob. It’s a performance motor and the next owner is bound to gun it 🤣 So it will need to stop ✋ Next video on the German machine will be very interesting 🤔 Have a great weekend cheers Stevie 😊
Brakes - no brainier, they looked very corroded . Shame about the the transmission sensor , totally agree with a swap out. This will be a really well sorted low miler Porsche for some lucky person 👍🇬🇧😎
That was the right call- those rotten discs would look hideous behind the nice fresh rims! That problem with the selector ain't the end of the world mate. That'll be a nice thing at the end of it all. 👍
Bit of a bummer about the gear change issues but I'm sure you'll get it sorted. On the plus side, you learn something every day. Rob's been shown how to fit wiper blades. Bonus!
Enjoying watching this. Think the right rear brake cylinder is the furthest away, then left rear, right front then left front as all the lines come from the abs unit at the front left. I only know because I've just had thy lovely job of renewing all the lines and refilling the system on mine...
It’s always the furthest away from the reservoir, bud so ns rear os rear ns front os front. this case it really wouldn’t have mattered as I wasn’t bleeding. I was flushing the fluid 👍
Great call on the discs and pads, especially as they looked very ropey. Always best to just renew serviceable items regardless when they've been stood for a while. Shame about the gear selector but at least it will be right as rain when it's done 👍🏻
Hi Rob and Chris, wheels looking good, good call on the brakes btw. Best that the selection problem come to light now, and gets sorted. Going to be a great buy as usual once done.. Alex.
Like you said Rob, that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, suck it up, onwards and upwards mate.....It'll make a smashing car for someone when it's sorted.....Saludos desde España mi amigos.
Rob you made the right decision on changing those brakes. Sorry to see you had a problem with the switch on the transmission. I had a boxster 987 05 plate same happened to mine . I didnt use mine much so it could be due to it standing a while . Great video.
Hi Rob you did the right thing doing the brakes all round mate.when you come to sell the car your have peace of mind you done them also Rob what a pain to have that gearbox go no the ramp on it’s mot ☹️keep up your good work guys 👏🏻
Always honesty from you guys, I would expect nothing more from you 👍. I wouldn't even sell my Panda with those discs on, never mind a performance car like this Porsche. As for the sensor, with it sitting for that length of time, it's unfortunate but not really a shock, these thigns happen.
And it had all been going so well! Oh well these things happen and sure will sort it! I rate the Easi bleed for brake fluid changes although you need an air pump on hand to keep topping up the tyre you use for the job.
100% correct to change the rotors, yes, they would clean up, BUT where the pads were sitting would wear at a different rate causing pulsing at low speeds. I’d call that essential, I have put quite a few low mileage cars back on the road, I wouldn’t even bother to try anything other than a full replacement.
I wouldnt worry too much about the gearbox issue at this stage. Even the manuals have shift cable issues. My 987 S had the linkage pop off on the gearbox end and almost stranded me. Managed to reach underneath and pop in into 'a' gear (turned out was 5th) but got me home. On the manuals there are aftermarket kits available to effectively 'lock' the cable ends onto the gearbox to prevent it happening again. Im sure yours will be an easy, if time consuming, fix. Keep at it guys, the 986/987 is such a brilliant chassis.
100% did the right thing concerning the brake discs, rusty ones make me cringe As far as the gears go mate don't beat yourself up, cars been stood doing nothing for ten years! Looking forward to the next vid..the plot thickens!
Doing the gear shift is just making this a more desirable Boxster Rob. It'll be a common problem so reassuring to know it's done is a plus in my eyes. 👍
Such a small thing that can stop a car from working I know on the automatics on these they go into limphome mode it's usually the automatic fluid & filter that needs to be changed most of the time but it's looking fantastic with all the work so far & definitely needed new discs & pads
Hello Rob and Chris, another brilliant video, not the result you both wanted but it just shows what you guys are good at:- Sorting problems out, and you will. Car is looking good. You were right to change the discs/pads. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Them bleed kits are ok but the ones with the bottle pump attached are so much better. And there only £40 on ebay. No wheel needed or air pump. And they do the clutch pedal fluid as well so much easier. Just a tip 😉
Correct call on the discs and a shame about selector ... it happens. I would like it but as a Decorator I cannot fit ladder racks ! ! Bob (Weston super Mare)
Worth changing the brake fluid, that was well past its 'sell by'. Well Rob I think you only ran it up and down the yard a few times so the selector problem wouldn't show up. It is worth replacing the whole thing if it is awkward to get to anyway it makes sense. Good progress so far, just a small glitch in the journey! Have a good weekend Rob and Chris. 👍👍
I was using an Easybleed on my 2001 Passat, at no more than 20psi, and the top of the reservoir split sending brake fluid everywhere. Clearly it had got brittle with age. The reservoir appears identical to that on the Boxster and I was convinced that was the thing that was going to 'end badly' as in the title!
Only the passenger wiper should be curved (upwards, like a smile), the drivers is straight. I would have deffo changed those brakes, usually on this and the 996 the inner sides of the disks are usually much worse, especially the fronts. You could have a ton more niggles with this, I'd snag it for longer than usual.
Agh ! …the delights and adventures of owning a vintage Porsche!…..all part of the colourful journey. Well done Rob, car looks terrific now, the new discs absolutely right for a car that will certainly need them !……
im amazed you left the wiper arm up as you changed the blade, indeed you walked away,no carpet on the screen or anything, eventually this causes catrastophe when you knock it and the screen crys😢
Rob, just wanted to let you know that you were probably correct with the bleed sequence on the Porsche and that’s how it would have been done on older cars. My B9 Audi sequence is front left, front right, rear left finishing rear right.
thankyou gentlemen,,it is what it is,,but as usual you both get it diagnosed and shortly repaired,, enjoy whats left of the weekend and see you in the next one,,👌👍
Definitely change the brake discs and brake fluid. Good job. Rob get some wire wall and lack on those calipers. Bring them up like Nw. Keep up the good work guys 👌
Fantastic video guys, Rob that brake fluid was probably. Mineral based giving its green colour, nowadays we use dot 4 synthetic brake fluid has a higher boiling point ,an sure Chris will work his magic on that selector problem❤
The Porsche is looking amazing now, the wheels look like new!. It’s such a pity about the gear selector, I’m sure you two will have it working again very soon. As always great video, I enjoyed watching it❤.
Great video 📹 again fellas 👌 as usual rob you did the right and honest thing when you changed the discs and pads 👍 it's coming together nicely and looking very smart. Wheels looking mint pity about it not passing the m o t but I am sure that you and Chris will sort it. Take care and stay lucky and healthy 😊 have a great weekend looking forward to Wednesday's video as usual.
Hi guys those alloys and new tyres look great.Good job replacing the discs and pads too.A pity about the automatic gear leaver selector.I am sure you will sort out this issue too.Good luck.
Personally I’m not a fan of ezibleed. If the tyre shop that inflated the tyre had water in their compressor then it’ll contaminate the new fluid. I bought a Sealey pressure bleeder that you pump up by hand and it has a pressure gauge, and when you’re done and release the pressure, it sucks the excess fluid out of reservoir and leaves it spot on the max mark when you screw the cap back on.
I remember seein an episode of wheeler dealers n thay had brought a porches booster that wouldn't go into gear n that was auto n that was due to the gearbox oil bein 2 low so I don't know if that's worth checking boys ne how wicked video as usual take care u two
Rob you were spot on to change the discs and pads, at the end of the day it could save someone's life.
For the cost it was the right choice replacing disc & pads.
Reputation alone it’s worth doing.
You are top chaps!
Rob. 100% agree on the brake disc change. Stopping is more important than accelerating.! Keep up the good work.
Totally the right thing to do, fitting new disks and pads to a high performance vehicle like that
Seeing them will give the buyer confidence in the car
Changing disc,s n pads is piece of mind for new owner also help you sleep better aswell so good job allround! Love you easy listening content! Keep up great work fella,s 🇬🇧🇬🇧

You need to change the gearbox oil and filter to
Unlucky with the gear selector. Just another thing you know will be spot on when you come to sell it.
I love you guys. Best vids on UA-cam.
Bang on to do the breaks there Rob. That’s the exact reason why you both have such a good rep…your attention to detail and doing the right thing. Can’t wait to see this beauty get finished.
Breaks??
I'm amazed anyone would query the decision to replace the discs and pads on a car that's been sitting for a few years, good job!
Weren't the auto gearboxes abit sensitive, needed regular fluid change , with that being sat a while maybe change gearbox fluid aswell.
Good work guys I’ve owned a porsche Boxster 987 since 2014 and drive it regularly (I think yours is a 986 model) I just keep on top of everything and its been totally reliable. Stumbled across your channel last week, spent the past few days binge watching 👍👍 brilliant
Me too😅
Evening guys.
I remember a wheeler dealers episode with the same car. It wouldn’t select a gear they did a gearbox service and all was good!
I enjoyed that brake change tutorial, Rob. More of that please. Top work.
Thank you 🙏 👍
Brakes - no brainier, they looked very corroded . Shame about the the transmission sensor , totally agree with a swap out. This will be a really well sorted low miler Porsche for some lucky person 👍🇬🇧😎
I was using that easy bleed about 25 years ago, they really are as good and easy as you claim Rob. Worth every penny.
Bonus!

I wouldn’t bother painting it, an enthusiast will love the patina of an old car and won’t be precious about where he parks it.
So very true!
Agree
It is what it is.
99.99 per cent fixed. A little plastic component not working after not being used for years cannot be considered a fail.
Lucky you guys got the Porsche back off the ramp and home. Look forward to seeing how you fix it.
Hi Rob and Chris, wheels looking good, good call on the brakes btw. Best that the selection problem come to light now, and gets sorted. Going to be a great buy as usual once done.. Alex.
Rob and Chris a good call to renew the Porsche brake discs and pads. This is for safety reasons, it is a must.
Spot on with the discs. Sure the old ones *might* have a few miles left in them, but your reputation is worth far more than the cost of replacements.
Gutted for you 😢😢. Onwards and upwards 💪🏻💪🏻
Like you said Rob, that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, suck it up, onwards and upwards mate.....It'll make a smashing car for someone when it's sorted.....Saludos desde España mi amigos.
Spot on lads. You're on to it. I know someone who would love to own this motor when you're all done & finished.
Thats what I like about you guys, you just identify the problem, come up with a plan to resolve it and move on. Great stuff.
Your right to change the discs and pads been standing for to long another great video sure you will fix it soon keep up the good work Rob and Chris
Absolutely the correct thing to change those discs, no question…😀
Correct. You don't sell a performance car with shabby discs if a replacement set is cheap enough.
Yes Rob it was a good idea to change the disc's especially on a car like that! Very good video guys. Thank you!☺
Rob you made the right decision on changing those brakes. Sorry to see you had a problem with the switch on the transmission. I had a boxster 987 05 plate same happened to mine . I didnt use mine much so it could be due to it standing a while . Great video.
100% agree with you Rob regarding changing the brakes
Hi Rob,
Yes changing disc and pads when the disc is grooved and rusty is a must,
Safety First.
Keep up the first class work.
Hi Rob you did the right thing doing the brakes all round mate.when you come to sell the car your have peace of mind you done them also Rob what a pain to have that gearbox go no the ramp on it’s mot ☹️keep up your good work guys 👏🏻

Ack guys what a shame the gear selector packed when going for mot 😢but I can't wait to see the next part ❤
Another great video. Alwys at 1.25x speed for best.
1.5x here.
Great content! love the Boxster. On the plus side, this gives you more reason to make another video on the car. Thanks for the effort it's great!
And it had all been going so well! Oh well these things happen and sure will sort it! I rate the Easi bleed for brake fluid changes although you need an air pump on hand to keep topping up the tyre you use for the job.

I’d call that essential, I have put quite a few low mileage cars back on the road, I wouldn’t even bother to try anything other than a full replacement.
How about milling it down ever so slightly if one had a lathe at hand? Would come out like mint given there's enough meat left on it, right?
Sunday morning 6:30 am, New Zealand time cuppa and another great video keep up the fantastic work.
I wouldnt worry too much about the gearbox issue at this stage. Even the manuals have shift cable issues. My 987 S had the linkage pop off on the gearbox end and almost stranded me. Managed to reach underneath and pop in into 'a' gear (turned out was 5th) but got me home.

You can't win them all Rob as you know, bit of fettling and that Porsche is golden. Great brake job.
100% did the right thing concerning the brake discs, rusty ones make me cringe
As far as the gears go mate don't beat yourself up, cars been stood doing nothing for ten years!
Looking forward to the next vid..the plot thickens!
Onward and upward, Chris experience shows , you make a great team 👍
Doing the gear shift is just making this a more desirable Boxster Rob. It'll be a common problem so reassuring to know it's done is a plus in my eyes. 👍
I 100% agree with you on it
The old discs are well past it!
Your both so positive dealing with issues, and love the problem solving between you both ... what a team
Such a small thing that can stop a car from working I know on the automatics on these they go into limphome mode it's usually the automatic fluid & filter that needs to be changed most of the time but it's looking fantastic with all the work so far & definitely needed new discs & pads
That’s the spirit Rob onwards & upwards hope you earn a nice drink with this one. Love from Melbourne AUSTRALIA.
I would have done the exact same as you Rob and changed the brakes, peace of mind and look great new
Hello Rob and Chris, another brilliant video, not the result you both wanted but it just shows what you guys are good at:-
Sorting problems out, and you will.

Better this happened now rather than a day after you have sold it. Great video as ever👍👍👍👍
Worth changing the brake fluid, that was well past its 'sell by'. Well Rob I think you only ran it up and down the yard a few times so the selector problem wouldn't show up. Those rotors will clean up but they will soon warp and vibrate. Changing the brakes was the right call
Only the passenger wiper should be curved (upwards, like a smile), the drivers is straight. Ah that was good diagnostics from Chris. If he was a computer that wudda been 300 quid at the MD.😂
Annoying a possibly a bit time consuming but you guys will sort it good as new 👍👍👍
Ditch the ezibleed, get a sealey pressure bleeder miles better 👍
Yes got the same one is far better but also not £20
That Chris he's an encyclopaedia of fixing!
im amazed you left the wiper arm up as you changed the blade, indeed you walked away,no carpet on the screen or anything, eventually this causes catrastophe when you knock it and the screen crys😢
Rob, just wanted to let you know that you were probably correct with the bleed sequence on the Porsche and that’s how it would have been done on older cars. My B9 Audi sequence is front left, front right, rear left finishing rear right.
Change the auto box filter and oil and it will work fine !
100% on changing the disc Rob, I wouldn’t expect anything less from you two.
Yes change the disc and pads plus the caliper bolts too, won't be cheap but worth it, for peace of mind.
thankyou gentlemen,,it is what it is,,but as usual you both get it diagnosed and shortly repaired,,
enjoy whats left of the weekend and see you in the next one,,👌👍
You guys will soon sort the Porsche, great viewing again guys
In think the old brake fluid looks green as its a ATE one Porsche uses.
Totally agree rob you had to change the discs , they would have wanted money off
Definitely change the brake discs and brake fluid. Good job. Rob get some wire wall and lack on those calipers. Bring them up like Nw. Keep up the good work guys 👌
Definitely right to change those discs. Shame about the gear shift, but things happen sometimes. Nice motor when it’s done. Have a great weekend.🍺
Modern classic and a keeper for someone 😊
You guys have such a positive outlook on life no matter what happens. Great to see.
Great video rob don’t worry about it it’s a classic car these things happen
Fantastic video guys, Rob that brake fluid was probably. Mineral based giving its green colour, nowadays we use dot 4 synthetic brake fluid has a higher boiling point ,an sure Chris will work his magic on that selector problem❤

Wow, Chris has a wealth of experience. Very clever man.

good call changing the discs
Another first rate diagnosis on the Porsche. I would wish you good luck, but you don’t need it you know your cars. Excellent.
Best thing to do 👍 new brakes and wheel refurb make it look 10x better 😃😃
I remember seein an episode of wheeler dealers n thay had brought a porches booster that wouldn't go into gear n that was auto n that was due to the gearbox oil bein 2 low so I don't know if that's worth checking boys ne how wicked video as usual take care u two
A gearbox flush might be necessary to keep the Porsche happy after all…
Rarely glorious in the experience of many. Well done gentlemen.
Great video lads,s*** happens as we all know you'll sort it in your usual professional way , crack on !!
