06.1991. a ballad in 6/8 with a doubling of the timing of the melodic phrasing at the bridge. key of 'D'. maybe titled this way because of the Duke. not the actor, but Ellington. but i'm not sure, it was a long time ago. most of these selections were written in the summer and late spring. if i remember there was a surge in my interest in composition and piano at that time due to the time away from piano the previous two years that i instead devoted to the bass to be in Yasgurs Farm. that's been true off and on for most of my life, i either do one or the other.
