I have 2 Era 300’s on stands, wall mounted Arc and a sub Gen 2. I find the Dolby Atmos play back is fantastic through music and movies. Certainly much more affective if part of a surround sound set up.
I wasn't very happy with the single unit but it's such a cool speaker so I took the plunge and bought a 2nd one to make a stereo pair and I was not disappointed! Atmos sounds awesome, and so does boring old stereo lol. Eg I'm not much of a Bee Gees fan but Night Fever in Atmos sounds amazing! There's lots of new music coming out in Atmos now which is what I'm more interested in, so, here's to a future in Atmos.
I have a stereo pair and I think they are fantastic. Not as distortion free and accurate as my pair of Genelec Ones, but very engaging and pleasant once properly calibrated.
To clarify, if I connect a pair of Era 300s to my computer via Bluetooth, I won't get any Atmos or Spatial Audio support? Just "flat" stereo without any enhancement from the Atmos speakers?
The only way to get spatial or atmos is either via the Sonos App and supported songs on Apple Music or Amazon Music or via a soundbar like the Arc via HDMI and supported content like movies or games with Spatial or Atmos audio. On a computer your best bet would be HDMI to a TV and then from the TV use the HDMI earc to the Sonos Arc Soundbar. You can add a pair of 300's to the Arc for even more channels but be aware that the center tweeter is disabled in this setup since it is meant to be used as side and upward firing only as the Arc will handle the center channel audio.
Dropped further Sonos investments after they dropped supporting their earlier generation products way too early (and easily). No more of my money to Sonos :-)
the main NEGATIVE that with all sonos speakers - seemingly. They being wifi/bluetooth - but NOT fully portable. As they still need to run or use MAINS POWER to work. Frustrating. As I have a JBL boombox 2. It be of the age where the battery has had its day. It no longer holds a charge. So it be now just like a sonos speaker. To play it / use it, I have to run it off a constant mains source. Annoyingly jbl - do not offer(not that I have seen) of being able to replace the old battery with a new battery.
Spotify is only good for Bluetooth/wireless ear/headphones as the sound quality is limited by Bluetooth data throughput limitations. I ditched Spotify years ago because of the low-fi quality.

Do you use the pair for music only?

same question here.. and same answer, none of them present the answer.
Yes, Bluetooth will give you “plain” stereo. You need songs mixed in Atmos and played via the Sonos app to get the Atmos effect.

Does anyone have just the one

What do you mean?
💯 nailed it. Scummy treatment of legacy customers.
Why not a proper review? and set 2 up in a cinema mode with a soundbar
Yeah agree
Why is the logo sideways? Makes absolutely no sense, annoying to look at.
Why would you be looking at the speakers when you’re using them as rears though? 🙄

2 choices of portable Sonos speakers......The Roam and The Move.
Who uses apple music when there is Spotify!!
Yes who doesn't love a worse experience with mp3 quality from 1998?

Used Apple every day for probably 8 years.
Love it.
people who want spatial audio I suppose : )
