RIP. I remember him in one of my all-time favourite tv shows, "Fringe". Watched the entire series 3 times so far.
Did it need to be almost three hours long? YES, YES IT DID. I have watched this film twice already and I noticed things I didn't the first time around. The sound design it's amazing, specially when you think about the suits being bullet proof. The choreography is mind-blowing, specially in the case of Donnie Yen and a sequence that is shot from above. I absolutely LOVED this film, and even though the dialogue can be cheesy, the delivery it's perfect. Bill Skarsgard delivered one of my favorite villain lines in cinema: "second chances are the refugee of men who failed". That was cold. 10/10 for me, it's the most John Wick of the John Wick films 🔥
Yup, 10/10 for me as well. What a blast watching JW4.

I saw this Thursday. I didn’t realize it was that long. It was so intense and relentless though I almost found myself feeling exhausted by the end.
To those who haven’t seen it yet, there’s a post-credit scene. That may have something to do with the spin-off mentioned and features Yen.
Clearly, this is the ultimate franchise for dog lovers.
In all seriousness, this film was well worth the wait to finally get it. The beginning stages of the film take some time to get things going, but once we reach those second and third acts, it's a non-stop blast. In this age of increasingly bloated productions with effects to do all the work, it does my heart good to see brave men like Keanu Reeves and the rest of the stunt performers doing the balls-ludicrous action and stunts they do. Hats off to them for creating one of the best action franchises of modern cinema.
The only thing I kept thinking during the movie was how many times is Wick going to fall off a building and/or get by a car before he breaks a bone. Action Junkies will love this movie and it sets a new standard for the action genre. In many ways this is like a live-action anime and it's a lot of fun......if you completely turn your brain-off. I mean ALLL THE WAY OFF.

The cinematography and set pieces were amazing, simple beautiful to watch. The choreography and innovative fight scenes had me smiling in my seat like at the Arc De Triomphe round about. Well done.
Chapter 3 was my second favorite. Chapter 4 might be my new favorite.
I had an absolute blast watching JW4. It was so incredible that I didn't even notice the runtime.

I love Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen and martial arts movies. So, 100% that I will love this film.

I think now it is cool for all reviewers to mention Billy's accent as weird as if they themselves has done PhD in French language Most of these youtubers dont even know the map of France but quick to point out the French accent is bad by Billy. He was doing a Cajun French and not a standard French and he was supposed to sound over the top , drama queen. These youtubers dont understand how to review someone's performance. They have no clue. 😂 Fact is Billy just knocked it out of the park. 😎 He had the best acting performance and rest people had best action performance
Excellent movie and review. As you mentioned, it's a bit long. The Japan and Paris scenes were amazing. They could have cut most or all of the Berlin scenes, to save 20ish minutes IMO. The filmmakers also pay hommage to the movie The Warriors, which was awesome. There is 1 after credit scene, FYI...

Glad you liked it. I heard another reviewer say that it wasn't very good. But, I'm always hoping that a movie will be worth watching. I loved the first two John Wick movies. The third, not so much.
I feel the same about the first 2 vs the 3rd one, so I hope you're in the same boat as me on this new one!
To put it nicely, I thought I was the only one who wasn't a fan of the third. 😅

@@ImpressionBlend Really enjoyed the first movie. The second movie was decent. Did not like their third and by then I felt no interest in watching #4. But I did watch it and - while I feel like it's better than #3 - it underscored the problems I'd been having with the franchise since the third film. Too many over the top scenarios that required almost nonstop suspension of disbelief. The very thing that seems to be so popular with fans of the franchise (the fighting/action) is the very thing that bored me completely. 🙁I got pretty ranty about it in my own review. 😆

Yeah.. the story was often meh except (kinda) the first. Yes ..the first had a simple story too ..but it was way more effective compared to the rest of these movies 😄 Most of the other JW movies are rather going for more money (continuing them and not giving rest / peace to John Wick cuz the ''cow'' should be milked again ..and again) 😄 ..letting these movies being mostly about the action stuff.
I only seen the first 3 so far (and I will see JW4 too even for curiosity sake) ..but so far my favorite is still the first. (and the only one I bought on disc / bluray) 😁

I loved loved loved this movie! I’ve seen it 5 times already and i can not wait for the bluray🤗🤗 This one is perfection in every way! Maybe the best paced actionmovie ever. The soundtrack is amazing. Nah John wick is just perfect the way it is. John talks very saddle and nice and just do the killing that's exactly how it's supposed to be! ;) Dah I love action, minimal dialogue thanks. 4 hours yes
I will be seeing this tomorrow night here in Tbilisi. At 10pm at night. That's the only time the English version is being shown in two theatres. Sold out shows. So I will get a crowd. It's either that or watch the Georgian dubbed versions, which are done in the Russian style, easily the worst version of 'dubbing' imaginable. You know what I mean. But thanks for making sure I don't miss it Marianna. I'll be thanking you as I walk the 2 km home at 1:30am.
Don't relate to the dialogue criticism at all here. There were some great and memorable lines and the interactions kept building the stakes and tension despite the lack of action.
Cool review! I always like how you cover every aspect of the movie to finally give it an overall score :) I particularly love action so no wonder i loved this movie. I also appreciated how Chad Stahelski has improved as a Director , particularly coming for being a stunt man. That scene with a top view angle where John Wick is firing flamed explosives bullets was a masterpiece. In regarding to comparing to a video game because the dialogue, well i would play a john Wick game any time. in fact, I hope that somebody pick the idea ;)
Just get to the point….. never hurt someone so in love with the wrong way my dad just give me the list. We really want to help people don’t waste your time giving us needed information instead of making us sit and listen to all the unnecessary jibber jabber give us the option to just hit get to the meat and potatoes. Some of us have no time.
I am gonna watch it this saturday with a bunch of my friends, I KNOW I will enjoy it.

You can tell though that Keanu is getting old because he just doesn't move like he use to on screen. Has anyone noticed that he never throws a kick in of the Wick movies either?

@@masteronionnorth2341 😂 shut the F dude action choreography for keanu is mix of Judo, BJJ, Sambo with tactical gun fight and he just nailed it, Reeves is legit as Martial artist i can promise you one thing, if some knuckle heads in Hollywood try for a combat with Keanu they I'll ended up in ICU guy got perfect technique

John Wick 4 & The Raid 2 shares the dilemma w/ its runtime
Too long, genuinely found it hard work although the aerial room shot scene did come along at a much needed time to wake me up a bit.

I enjoyed Wick 4 but.... I thought it was a little too far over the top though, with endless and relentless action sequences that seemed... Too repetitive.
And that ending?
Pretty underwhelming.
I just thought it was.... weak and anticlimactic...
And yeah, was John even human?
Because the man never suffered any broken bones no matter how many times he was thrown from buildings/structures/hit by cars.
Or tossed down endless stairs... 🤔

first of all you going into a John wick movie you put your brain in into enjoying something not giving damn about the laws of physics..... The problem with with the movie it wasn't long enough true John wick fan and Keanu Reeves fan would have not complained about that I would have been happy with four hours! My audience was enjoying every moment.

**SPOILERS** I thought it could have been four or five hours shorter, but once you get over the idiotic unrealism of it all (zero humans anywhere except as props; one moment the whole club s dancing to the slaughter, but ten minutes later for some reason (well, so that the hero can escape) they decide to flee in panic/ no real world cops or ambulances ever/ traffic keeps going despite horrific collisions/ and why didn't the Osaka princess have a bulletproof suit on, also? etc...), the cinematography of it is i n s a n e. I could watch it again just for that god's-view one-shot take of the abandoned French house, with the books and the mirrors and the magnesium bullets... Plus, the dog was awesome. Haha, and I've never experienced people actually clapping when that shitty marquise gets it. The whole theater broke into applause and cheers :)))))

2.car 360 degree drift shooting.
3.bike drift n wheele.
4.single take fire gun shooting(with part 1 bgm) goosebumps

This movie is not for everyone. If you liked the previous John Wick's then I'm sure you'll like this one.
But for those who might be seeing JW for first time after hearing good reviews this is what you need to know:
The movie has exceptionally good cinematography and the fights scenes are choreographed to near perfection. But that is the ONLY reason to see this movie. If you like good story telling this movie does not have that. It is a video game in movie form. You have a bunch of fights that end with a "boss fight" after each. John wick himself has NO personality and is pure cardboard who is only made up of single lines.
It's pure mindless eye candy.

Saw the movie asap, but it's not the best of the 4-movie franchise. The many action scenes were intense and original. John Wick has become unrealistically Superhuman. No one could survive that many car crashes, impacts, injuries and still keep going.
They should've added a scene where we are shown how 'battered and bruised' he is. (He slathers on some of Amber Turd's 'magical Amica cream' to treat the bruises. lol) The audience would relate to his suffering. He soldiers on, because of what's at stake. Perhaps, he injects himself with adrenaline and takes some pain killers.
Bill Skarsgard's acting was great, but his character was a disappointment. I was hoping that he would be a legit bad ass with martial arts and weapons skills. But, he just talks a lot of elitist sh*t and sends others to do his dirty work. (Wishful thinking: Alexander Skarsgard could be introduced as his 'Big Brother' in JW5 and fulfill that 'Bad Ass' role that JW4 lacked.)
The scene where John Wick jumps through a glass window or door, falls and hits (you'll have to go see the film) was a surprise and memorable. (Said to myself: Ohh! That's gotta hurt.)
The scene with the stairs to the church was too long. (How many times can John Wick attempt to ascend 200 steps, only to fail, and try again and again? In how many minutes before sunrise?)
If I were in a dual to the death with Cain (a blind man), I'd have 'crouched down' or 'gotten on one knee' [Your stance is not dictated, so it's not against the rules.] and hoped he would've shot over my head. [That's what you call 'thinking outside the box'. That would've been original. Cain would've wondered and worried why he missed and this would've made the outcome more suspenseful. The Marchese cheats, so he would give Cain a hint to shoot low, but John Wick speaks many languages and realizes what was said.]
Would've loved to have seen more character development on Cain (Donnie Yen). Will we have to wait for JW5 to get the backstory of his past relationship to John Wick?
Will the 'Tracker' meet and fall in love with 'Sofia' (Halle Berry) in JW5?
Will I go see JW4 again in the theater? Absolutely.
There's nothing else out now that's worth watching that I haven't seen already.

It’s insane to go back and watch the first John Wick after watching the 3 that have followed it. It is terribly ugly by comparison.
I wish they could go back and shoot it differently. At least take that awful green filter off of it.

Hi, Marianna. I really enjoyed the movie and think it was a great closing chapter to the previous entries. What is your outlook on the spinoffs (Ballerina and The Continental) ,and possible spinoffs suggested by the post-credits scene?

that movie was a joke. i was extremely dissapointed. it is so unrealistic and the whole movie made no sense. john wick looks like a ghost who can never get shot even from a 2-3 meters gun shooting. the end of the movie was also pathetic with rules changing and how it all ended. i wont give too much spoilers but i have to say that this blind man fighting so good like he can see and sense everything was a big mess in the movie and also the big guy who have asthma that fights like a lion. really i did not expect such a bad movie. i dont understand those who think this movie was great. they must be too big fans to see the reality and the truth. me and my wife we fell asleep and were both disgusted about how the movie was. this is just another proof that we cant trust the reviews.
Bro it's called personal preference. Actually go into the theatre with the aim to enjoy the movie so you don't waste like 20 quid in between you and your wife. If you're not a fan of this series then maybe don't expect to be happy when you watch a three hour movie of the thing you don't like. Kind of a loss for you, seen as you wasted your money and the 94% on Rotten Tomatoes that loved this movie didn't.
