It's a damn shame that both Poker Night games aren't available on Steam anymore. They're both fine poker games with great character writing for Heavy, Brock Samson, Sam and Max, Strong Bad, and Ash Williams... and Tycho is there, I guess
Poker games suck. You can't bluff an AI so whether you win or lose is all down to what cards you get dealt and what entirely random actions the computer takes. And if all you want to do is see the character interactions, that's what UA-cam compilations are for- better than watching the same ones repeat over and over again until long after they've ceased to be entertaining while you try to see all of them.
Even with their low points, you know Telltale was something special by the fact that people started referring to this style of game with the qualifier of it being like Telltale. They still have some of the highest consistency of writing across the catalogue. Heck, they made a Borderlands spinoff that’s better written than most games out there. That’s an achievement in itself!
Absolutely adore all 3 seasons of Sam & Max. Also loved Back to the Future. And I have a soft spot for Wallace and Gromit too. In terms of their ‘illusion of choice’ “choose your own adventure” era my favourite was Wolf Among Us
While I understand the love for The Walking Dead: Season 1, I've always preferred Season 2, there's something about a 11 year old child trying to find their way through the world with everyone dying around them that makes it hit that much harder for me. Clementine is the Greatest of All Time.
Season 2 is plagued with a rushed ep 4 and 5 and was almost ruined by behind the scenes stuff of higher ups getting too involved, if you haven't already checked it out there was a documentary done a few years ago just after telltale went bankrupt and has a lot of former employees that out behind the scenes stuff that lead to a lot of their games being ruined or rushed
@@user-op6kt8pg9y There are a lot of Telltale games I just couldn't get into or finish, Game of Thrones and Batman are the biggest offenders. I might have to check out the documentary you mentioned. But, none of that changes the feelings Season 2 invokes, just by having the Protagonist be Clementine. A brilliant move to make her the lead of the season so you can explore how it feels to be weak in a world that's collapsed.
Batman enemy within is one of the few telltale games where choices (even dialogue choices) ACTUALLY mattered. Not all of them of course, but compared to nearly every other telltale game its the one where choices are heavy and have to be thought out
Batman: The Enemy Within is my favorite thing that’s ever been done with the Batman mythos. It’s just so creative and heartfelt. I love it, and it’s so underrated. My personal #1 pick.
Another one! You guys have really grown over these last couple years and it's delightful to see your progress! Keep on jumping three times, you lovely folks!
Just peeping my head in to say the old Telltale is still alive and beating! They've taken up residence under the name Skunkape Games and they're currently in the process of remastering Telltale's Sam & Max Trilogy with the final season in development right now! Mad shout out to Skunkape Games.
I regret not getting Guardian's of the Galaxy Telltale now, i always wanted to try it, never got around to it and it was delisted, it's such a shame i can no longer try it (also "Every Dragon Quest Game Ranked From Worst To Best" would also be a great video for the series, love these videos)
If you haven't played the more recent Guardians Of The Galaxy game that came out by Eidos, I can recommend it. Obviously a very different game to the Telltale one, but worth picking up if it's in a sale.
I still remember seeing the original Sam & Max 2 trailer ("Hey Commissioner, how's the rash?") and getting hyped, only to be completely gutted when LucasArt's shut down their adventure game division--then get completely hyped again when Telltale brought Sam & Max back. What a time.
Game of thrones was frustrating. I know the series is bleak, but it did feel like a 'why bother' moment as every choice led to even worse circumstances.
Point and click were my favourite genre of games for years. A long time ago I had an Amiga A1200 and played some great ones like the LucasArts ones (loved Monkey Island and Zak McKraken), Beneath A Steel Sky, Goblins/Goblins Quest series and Simon the Sorcerer...brings back fond memories
We bought the eldest daughter one of those hoverboards the year that they appeared and became a thing for a while. I reckon as a family, mainly her but a few of us tried it, we probably got 2 hours entertainment out of it. A novelty akin to a unicycle. And I would imagine, no easier to actually use with any degree of competence.
oh i fucking love this list. i was following along and being like "oh yeah yeah sure sure" noncommittally at most of the rankings but as it got to the top 5 i was getting so excited. always get so nervous at telltale rankings and where they'll put wolf among us vs tales from the borderlands because i think they are seriously the tied for 2nd /interchangeable for 2nd and 3rd place games of telltale. both have such incredible writing that i feel like its not a matter of which writing is better but just general other aspects of the player that will effect which game they like more. tales from the borderlands has a whole series backing it up to make the character returns and pre-existing relationships really pack a punch when theyre dropped in the episodes, but wolf among us is a different beast entirely with the wealth of relatively universal collective knowledge of fairy tales to pull from and its written with such different vibes than tales (noir-like and a seriousness overall thats not quite achievable in the borderlands series) that its really just up to the preference of the players. 2 and 3 rankings popped on screen i was like sigh.... yes.... [evaporates]
I can't be the only one that never got tired of the Telltale post TWD formula, I thought it worked perfectly for an episodic release structure, unlike Hitman 2016, where I forgot how to control the game in between the episodes. It's also why I thought that LiS True Colors and New TftB suffered from fatigue as I was playing them since I don't usually binge watch shows anyway, allowing me to play a story based game like this does get a little samey after 10 hours.
I definitely gotta give Wolf Among Us my #1. The Walking Dead games are great, but can be inconsistent. There was also a frustrating predictability of the disasters that befell the protagonists, and there were one or two moments where it felt you were robbed of a decision, because they had to crowbar in yet one more disaster. Wolf Among Us's detective aspect made for a plausible reason for Bigby to be where he was and do what he did, but the plot was full of intrigue. The IP also had so many really clever uses of classic characters of folklore, it just never failed to entertain. Even the ending was a proper twist that actually landed solidly.
Maybe it's just me being more familliar with Team Fortress 2 and Homestar Runner but i liked Poker Night 1 better...might also have something to do with the fact you get free stuff in TF2 for playing it. the License to Maim badge, Max's Lugermorph pistol, the heavy's Iron Kurtain minigun reskin, Tycho's Enthusiast's Timepiece invis watch and Strongbad's iconic Dangeresque Too? hipster shades made famous by DemoPan. Also if you got it early enough you got the Dealer's Visor hat for Heavy.
After watching this video, I realize and kinda wish they would make a Telltale Spider-man game were you would have to balance between being Spider-man and Peter Parker. You could have the main vilain being the Sinister 6 so that you could have one vilain per episode and the last episode the leader and the last vilain not captured meanwhile for Peter you could have romance option between MJ or Gwen and if not Gwen, Black Cat.
Going in it was pretty obvious what the top three had to be, but it was really interesting to see where others I like a lot or didn't get the chance to play fell on this list.
I’m sorry, but did the writer of this video really call Jeff Smith’s Bone a “middle-grade graphic novel” and claim it’s only for kids? It’s literally one of the most revered and celebrated comic books in modern history, you don’t win 10 Eisner Awards and 11 Harvey Awards in categories like Best Continuing Series and Best Writer/Artist when you’re “middle-grade.” And just because there’s no graphic sex and violence that doesn’t automatically make it a kiddie book, Smith wrote it for adults and its been embraced by adults for the past three decades.
Walking Dead season 1, Guardians Of The Galaxy and Tales From The Borderlands are probably my favourites. I bought the 'ultimate bundle' which was almost everything released after Walking Dead Season 1 except for Minecraft, and Game Of Thrones was a real sticking point. I think including characters from the show was actually a downside as you knew characters like Cersei or Ramsey Bolton would continue to make your characters' lives hell with their comeuppance completely unrelated to your actions.
As someone who deliberately wrote "achievement walkthroughs" for the early XBLA entries to help the company's sales, I was disappointed to see them fold. I am still a serious fan of P'N'C adventures and believe there is a market for such games. I was happy to see them come back, but doubt they will develop games I hold dear and will (probably/definitely) steer their new titles towards a more "modern" narrative adventure.
Very happy I could still buy the Strongbad game after watching 10 minutes of a longplay and realizing: it's just going to be more fun to play it myself.
I am a SLUT for Sam and Max. I adore them and their silly little adventures, and the humor and character interactions just make me so happy. They're my scimblos, my little skrunklies, and I love them!
Tales has age so well. The intros, the characters, the pacing. The WDS1 has epic moments and episodes...but from start to finish Tales tells a better story
In something like the 3rd entry Peter says the game was on PC twice when he meant to say PS3. I don't care either way, just thought the guys might want to know. Also, we need a Final Fantasy list. Keep up the great work gents! My wife says she hates when I watch other gaming channels because they don't have the same smooth, buttery British voices.
Bro. Walking Dead Season 1 and 4 have a special place in my heart. One is the start of a great narrative Era and the other, at least for me, is the end of it. Not gonna lie, i always came back for more walking dead bros.
I always wanted a Telltale Archer game. It meshes with the art style really well, and the humor of the show can only be improved with the Telltale touch. Maybe now the new management can make my wish come true
The Wolf Among Us really is a great game and a personal favourite of mine. Haven't played any of the other games on this list other than Poker Night 2... and frankly, that sucks because poker video games are always bad (you can't bluff an AI so whether you win or not is all down to what cards you get dealt and what completely randomised actions your opponents take), and if you want to experience the game's merits you're better off just watching compilation videos of all the characters' interactions on UA-cam, rather than playing the game and watching them repeating mindlessly again and again and again long after they've ceased to be funny, waiting to see if there are any more unique ones you missed.
Man i have played trough twd 1 and i habe just started my twd 2 playtrough on the ps vita i can confidently say its one of my favourite game series for me now its my comfort i loooove it so much to play before bed cuddled under the sheets
Honestly I am glad that Jurassic Park: The Game was not lowest on the list. Honestly enjoyed it more then Batman: Enemy Within as it was more of a puzzle game.
Telltale Texas Hold'em was the first commercial game they put out, it was the first game made using telltale's engine and was ment to demonstrate the dynamic character system that would be a staple of their games, TTH deserved a higher spot on the list
Also, for the episode of CSI that involved the rock band that all died from electrocution, they should’ve named it “Ride The Lightning “ instead of “Shock Rock”. 🤦♂️ it was right there!! Cm’on!! 😭 ugh smh oh well 🤷🏻♂️
Sam & Max Hit The Road was superior in every way to any of the 3 Telltale games. Those characters are very entertaining in all their appearances, though.
Until today I wait for the continuation of game of thrones, Tales of Bordlands,Batman season 3,Minecraft story mode season 3,Guardians of the Galaxy season 2 And now the new game The Wolf Among Us 2 Announced for 2024 UwU I hope one day all these games come out 🤔😎🙏 like and Bye!
I sincerely hope that Marvel's Guardians of the galaxy: The Telltale Series will one day have a new update so that we can translate the subtitles in all languages again.
Much as I enjoyed the first season of Minecraft Story Mode, I have to admit that the story was REALLY weak. It felt really generic and I saw half of the twists coming from a mile away, and the next few episodes sadly didn't do very well at building the universe/dimensions of the game. Luckily this was something Season 2 fixed, but I definitely agree that they could've implicated some of the mechanics of Minecraft into the game better.

A brilliant move to make her the lead of the season so you can explore how it feels to be weak in a world that's collapsed.
Batman at 17? This list makes me wanna fight someone lol
The wolf among us was my favorite. Totally blew me away with its grim story and amazing art style. Can’t wait for the sequel finally coming in 2024!
I loved Wolf Among Us
You should read the books. I started collecting them in anticipation for the second one coming
The ending is mind blowing
Amon Gus
Can't wait for the second one
Actually their best game imo. I know everyone loves Walking Dead for good reason, but just imo loved the lore and everything of Wolf
Tales from the Borderlands was excellent specially the writing and casting. A shame we'll never get a real sequel
Could we maybe get a fake sequel, though?
@@danbauer3669 Sadly we already have.
@@usgpillarofark3980 which is?
@@donkeykong3628 The last one. New tales.
@@usgpillarofark3980why am I just now finding out this exists?
Tbh I really love minecraft story mode... the nostalgia is great and everything is just like I would want it to be
I love it too! But it’s not available anymore for purchase on PS4
Another one! You guys have really grown over these last couple years and it's delightful to see your progress! Keep on jumping three times, you lovely folks!
HOLY SHIT I LOVE SAM AND MAX!!! I thought no one really talked about it anymore?? It’s my favorite series of all time and I wish it was more popular
for me as a child it was wallace and gromit on pc
Borderlands is my fav and I hate the mainline games
I will forever be disappointed that we didn't get a season 2 to telltales game of thrones.
same :(
Just peeping my head in to say the old Telltale is still alive and beating! They've taken up residence under the name Skunkape Games and they're currently in the process of remastering Telltale's Sam & Max Trilogy with the final season in development right now!
Mad shout out to Skunkape Games.
I knew at the beginning what #1 was. I think it's the only game to take me on that kind of emotional journey and make me cry like that at the end.
I got my copy of back to the future signed by Christopher Lloyd. He was pretty cool. He had a stack of candy next to him
"Bigby Wolf"? BIGBY. WOLF?!
FUCK. THAT'S SO GOOD. SO FUCKING GOOD. YES.
😂 chill bro. Bigby Wolf is cool 😎 though, so agreed.
Fun fact Michael J Fox was in the game briefly as Shamus Macfly if you read the credits.
Wolf among us is always one of the things I list when someone asks my favorite games.
@@Joe90h yeah i played it but i didn't finish it (loved what i played though) i'll start another playthrough sometime
@@James-gj8rn you can still buy a ps4 copy for 10 bucks
Really love the Batman games. Especially that it’s so different and the twists on characters.
Bone was my fav comic as a kid, the whole catalog was my gateway to comics
I still remember seeing the original Sam & Max 2 trailer ("Hey Commissioner, how's the rash?") and getting hyped, only to be completely gutted when LucasArt's shut down their adventure game division--then get completely hyped again when Telltale brought Sam & Max back. What a time.
Game of thrones was frustrating. I know the series is bleak, but it did feel like a 'why bother' moment as every choice led to even worse circumstances.
Yeah. It was great.
…Day of the Tentacle…
For back to the future, while yes mjf didn't reprise his role he was in the game as Marty's great grandfather
Maxwell Jacob Friedman?
Walking Dead was an emotional rollercoaster.
The mention of the bone series threw me for a trip back to elementary school where we all used to fight for the books because they were amazing.
Wolf Among Us is a masterpiece, and have been looking forward to the sequel for years
I always thought Tales from the Borderlands was better than The Wolf Among Us.
Batman the enemy within is my favorite Tettale game
On poker night 2 are you saying infantry club or inventory club?
I thoroughly enjoyed the Back to the Future game. I tend to consider it the 4th BTTF movie.
in all aspects it could be
I can't be the only one that never got tired of the Telltale post TWD formula, I thought it worked perfectly for an episodic release structure, unlike Hitman 2016, where I forgot how to control the game in between the episodes.
It's also why I thought that LiS True Colors and New TftB suffered from fatigue as I was playing them since I don't usually binge watch shows anyway, allowing me to play a story based game like this does get a little samey after 10 hours.
The Wolf Among Us 2 needs to come out NOW!!!
I love the Batman series, looking forward to playing Sam and Max and Jurassic Park will always have a special place in my heart
Really looking forward to “Star Trek: Resurgence”. Which is being made by former Telltale creatives. Hopefully we can get it in May.
How is this the first time I'm learning there was a Homestar Runner Telltale game?!
Borderlands, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Wolf Among Us will always have a place in my heart.
This year, we are getting The Expanse: A Telltale Series.
Try to not take it personally.
The Wolf Among Us, PC, Xbox 360, and PC
Batman s1 was done dirty
As someone who deliberately wrote "achievement walkthroughs" for the early XBLA entries to help the company's sales, I was disappointed to see them fold.
I am still a serious fan of P'N'C adventures and believe there is a market for such games. I was happy to see them come back, but doubt they will develop games I hold dear and will (probably/definitely) steer their new titles towards a more "modern" narrative adventure.
Wait, there was a Bone game? God I want to take a look at that now, why do I have a feeling that I can't find it any more.
I think by “middle-grade comic series Bone” you clearly meant to say, “multiple Eisner and Harvey award-winning comic series Bone”.
The walking dead telltale franchise, Batman, wolf among us it’s just tragic for their fall
Very happy I could still buy the Strongbad game after watching 10 minutes of a longplay and realizing: it's just going to be more fun to play it myself.
The Michonne pronunciation 💀💀💀
I am a SLUT for Sam and Max. I adore them and their silly little adventures, and the humor and character interactions just make me so happy. They're my scimblos, my little skrunklies, and I love them!
Tales has age so well. The intros, the characters, the pacing. The WDS1 has epic moments and episodes...but from start to finish Tales tells a better story
56:17 Glad I'm not the only one that remembers that title off the top of the dome.
Damn straight that's where the Wolf among Us belongs
Jurassic Park The Game is very underrated.
It is the first telltale game I have played.
Wolf among us 2 is still a thing or it is cancelled?
"WHO THE FUCK ARE THESE PEOPLE IN THE WOODS!?"
I kind a liked CSI: Fatal Conspiracy even if it's bad 😂
There was a time I played nearly all their games, but their GOT was probably the first time I actually hated what they had created.
I'm still looking forward TWAU2 (and hopefully this won't age badly)
Honestly I am glad that Jurassic Park: The Game was not lowest on the list. Honestly enjoyed it more then Batman: Enemy Within as it was more of a puzzle game.
Telltale Texas Hold'em was the first commercial game they put out, it was the first game made using telltale's engine and was ment to demonstrate the dynamic character system that would be a staple of their games, TTH deserved a higher spot on the list
I love the wolf among us im excited for season 2 next year.
"next year" 😞
Can you do a Every Star Trek Video Games Ranked from Worst to Best video?
Also, for the episode of CSI that involved the rock band that all died from electrocution, they should’ve named it “Ride The Lightning “ instead of “Shock Rock”. 🤦♂️ it was right there!! Cm’on!! 😭 ugh smh oh well 🤷🏻♂️
sam and max got me into it
Sam & Max Hit The Road was superior in every way to any of the 3 Telltale games. Those characters are very entertaining in all their appearances, though.
wolf among us on 1 or i laugh until i collapse
because im an animaniac
I came to this for mcsm and just by randomly scrolling for a second and letting go I found it
Man I really wanted to like Michonne but it kept crashing and people kept T posing throughout what I played
Having only played Sam and Max on PC, I would have ranked Beyond Time and Space a lot higher (think Top 10, maybe even top 5).
Also batman deserved to be way higher on this list
Great video
my daughter loved bone, and it has a huge following. Highly, highly recommend the comics to folks with kids.
Personally I would've put WAU at number one and Jurassic Park a little bit higher than you guys put it, but overall I agree with the list.
The sooner TWAU2 releases, the better.
