Well, the way Blake explains things is amazing! Thank you guys for this video and all the content you put out. This video is a gem and instant save for me. Great work.
The "throwing the ball" analogy was especially helpful; I've always struggled with calling my shots, and that will be something I look for the next time I hit the range.
This was such a “dUh” moment for me. This is exactly the thought process for my handgun shooting for USPSA. And it has proven to work very well. Needed to HEAR IT for me to realize that it’s the same shit for rifle. Boy do I feel silly. I’m definitely shooting high right focusing on my dot. Time to bring my rifle game up to par with my handgun shooting!
Big part of transitioning laterally is leading with your eyes, as opposed to staying in your optic while you move the gun. I love the stop sign analogy as well!
These gentlemen make some excellent points. With that being said, the truth of the matter is smooth is efficient and being efficient is fast, but slow is just slow. The quote should be smooth is efficient and being efficient is fast. One can move smoothly at speed as long as they do everything correctly. The big thing that needs to happen to achieve this is to not tense up and stay relaxed. Also, vision plays a big role along with proper connection to the gun when it comes to recoil management. When talking about transitions, 90/10 is a way to perform the task, but tension must be used to accomplish it. Also how do we judge what 90% is consistently? This will also change when using lighter to heavier guns. A simpler and more consistent way of accomplishing transitions is to look to a spot on the target and simply bring the gun to your eye.
i found you guys after watching garand thumbs video, im glad i found you there is a lot of knowledge here to absorb... obviously its not the same as actually doing it, but its a good taste i suppose. thanks for putting out these videos
Really liked the comment on target focused when Blake says "you don't look at the ball when you throw it to someone". Shit hit me like a ton of bricks lol
Does marksmanship matter at cqb distance? Not as much...it's a matter of physics. The closer you are the less accurate you have to be. Facts. Speed and tactics begin to have a much greater impact as you get closer. Now if we move from simple cqb room clearing to bad guys wearing armor or hostage rescue...then we begin to need tactics, speed, and a higher level of marksmanship.
Training to fight while wearing them. It takes some practice to shoot/maneuver with them on so you aren't bumping them into your optic when you shoot or a doorway or wall when you're trying to move fast.
It can be useful to wear NODs on a daytime operation because you can end up entering darkened spaces and going on NODs. With BNVD/ dual tube systems, you can very easy secure them to the helmet and don’t need to dedicate a pouch to carry them. And as it’s been said, it’s about training around and with your equipment.
I use light switches and pictures in my house when practicing transitions . What I do in dry fire is fire the first shot , rack while keeping TRIGGER pinned . Then I reset while transitioning to other target.
@@TheJoshflickinger It just something I do . I shoot COMPETITION so I kinda dont care what anyone thinks . I can crank out rounds very fast while maintaining accuracy and shooting on the move. Damn sure am not the best or fastest but I'm better than most keyboard commandos. Not saying that's what you are just speaking in general
I shoot competitively too, and found worring about whats going on with the trigger during dry firing transitions isn’t as important and takes away from the focus of the main objective. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on what pinning the trigger, racking the slide, then resetting the trigger while transitioning is is doing for you. (Genuine interest)
Big fan of the stoeger double, but you should learn how to shoot the drill before you teach it to others! Maybe the stock being in your shoulder would help a little with the gun jumping :)
OTG has got free rent in the heads of all you Stoeger acolytes. And while Ben keeps running his butthurt mouth and watching you guys lap it up OTG is just doing their thing and not getting in the mud with the pigs. Go outside and touch some grass dude.
@@calebgunter311 ironic as hell, while I’m outside with your loving dad shooting doubles as they should be so I can actually benefit from shooting. Maybe you can come touch grass with us
I like this channel but why are you wearing Nodz in the wide open sunshine? To laugh at us who don't have the $10K NVG investment? Also @25yds i would of figured a top tier guy would A zone every shot....Lucas Botkin can do it.
To be fair, Lucas specializes in shooting specifically, so it's no surprise he'd be a better "shooter" than these guys. But these guys would wipe the floor with Lucas when it comes to close quarters tactics. No hate, they just specialize in different things.
If you watch Lucas’ recent video doing a double drill from the 25 he misses several times. He even misses the entire paper. This was on his Instagram. Part of this drill is to push yourself to be uncomfortable and figure out what you are doing wrong. It’s not necessarily a test, the point is to reach failure and then learn, and reapply. Which is exactly what Blake says when he describes it in the video. Not sure if you watched.
So wait, you have beef with Ben Stoeger and Matt Pranka( X Ray Alpha), but then you steal the doubles drill that Ben teaches??? Maybe you guys should go on the Redneck podcast and talk this out.
You're right the Doubles drill is good info. And marksmanship is very important. I still think it would be good for the community to see ppl talk out any issues with each other than to avoid them. God Bless.
Nothing more corny than have your nods clipped in broad day light... "we're training for the weight" no your not... they're on your helmet 100% for the image you're trying to create, and that image is being a cornball

The "throwing the ball" analogy was especially helpful; I've always struggled with calling my shots, and that will be something I look for the next time I hit the range.
Exactly the comment I was going to make!
I like the comparison to pistol fundamentals. Being target-focused is awesome. For better or worse, you hit what you're looking at.

“Marksmanship” ALWAYS matters.
Well done, need to see more of him. Rah!
Great video guys! Actually something to learn here and not just a flashy demo.
Loved that 90/10 analogy on movement
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast is old and how can slow be fast!😝. Should be "Slow and smooth until smooth is fast."- HOTN

Good content
Lets stow those nods
Does Blake have a UA-cam channel?
Will there ever be a class in the Kansas, or Missouri area?
Can’t just appear there, have to have logistical support. Check out the pinned post on our IG page that explains how to get us to you.
100% it does. Any kind of precise shot requires marksmanship skills....ie: hostage, body armor, angles
I also get impatient with the dot and get dot focussed sometimes. Need to work on it
It only matters if you miss and your enemy doesn't. Lol
Do you have any affiliates in Tennessee?
Not to hate but that s there a reason to wearing nods in the day?

What I do in dry fire is fire the first shot , rack while keeping TRIGGER pinned . Then I reset while transitioning to other target.
That works, ands it’s great, but if you can afford a Blackbeard they are definitely fun
@@kyles6964 yeah I've been meaning to get one . I have G17 and G19 cert pistols . So I definitely need to pick up Blackbeard
Pinning the trigger and riding it out to reset is the biggest waste of dryfire time. It helps nothing in marksmanship or trigger fundamentals.

I think the point was to go faster until you DONT get the A zone so you know you limit and work there to improve.
