According to her lore she was A production originally the upgraded OR-14S called OR-15 that guarded doomfist during his time in prison. Rein knows of the breakout. And probably about orisa cause she's the hero of nimbani

To be fair Orisa looks nothing like the robot that took Reinhardt's eye except for the general centaur-like shape. Plus she's an absolute sweetheart so I don't think he'd have a problem with her

One detail that I loved when I realized it is that Torb refers to Bastion as a “he” while Rhein refers to Bastion as a “it” showing that for Torb he is someone equal to him but for Rhein he is an object
To be fair, PTSD isnt something you can just get rid of, its just something you learn to deal with

@@MarxeezWell, Yes and no, considering they were fighting a war of machines. Rein has yet to see true horrors of war, that can only be seen in war with other humans.
Omnics and those E units would be efficient killing machines so they go the fastest way.
But humans are creative and can be cruel in how they wage war. Not to ignore they will also torture or be as inhumane as possible to their enemies.

A shield’s job is to protect but what good is a shield that can’t protect. When Rein sees him he only sees the people he’s failed to protect, the fallen friends, and the brothers he’s lost.

I actually like how they said it. torb showing that rein is the only one stuck in the past directly is more impactful than just going around it and hoping that he will change
And the feeling of sadness in torb voice for his friend being stuck in the past is way more noticeable in the original one

The fact he even talked instead of immediately going in for the hammer smash was a sign he has changed. I’m sure younger and fresh off his new PTSD Rein would have just smashed Bastion into pieces without even thinking.

I feel for Rein here. It’s hard to heal and a lot of characters in the Overwatch cast weren’t directly present for how traumatic Null Sector was. He only lost an eye physically, but lost so much more emotionally.
Ana also lost an eye 🫠🫠. The older members got so traumatized 😢
Sorry to be that guy, but Null Sector is pretty recent, relatively. The Omnic Crisis was led by the Anubis AI, it hijacked the Omnics as it deemed mankind to be a threat to the future of the world. The crisis is ended with the Awakening. Null Sector comes into existence later, iirc, it's over a decade of time later.
@@Sassaparilla then how come the Orisa and Bastion AI in Rein’s animated short have their Null Sector skins? I thought that Null Sector was the description of the rogue AI that plagued the entirety of the Omnic crisis and threatened the world. Didn’t think it was relative to a time period since it all fit under the umbrella of the OC.

Null Sector is all white/grey and purples. In Rein's short, they're all that rust orange color.
Null Sector is the renegade group led by Ramattra, after the Omnics gained Sentience. It had two or three other founding members iirc, but we don't know much about them and they seem to have left Ram or died.

Trauma is hard to heal. I can totally see reinhardts reasons especially due to his commanding officers death due to his wrecklessness. And bastion is also healing. Torn is literally the pillar that is builsing that bridge between. Past present and future.

I agree with both sides of this argument. How do you not get angry at the sight of one of the machines that has crippled, maimed, and killed so many of your friends. But at the same time you cant blame someone who was programmed to kill you for doing what their programming demanded, especially when they've clearly changed and has suffered just as much trauma and pain as you have. If Rein should hate anyone, its Ramatra for creating Null Sector to begin with

Ramattra and the old war actually have nothing in common. The old war was waged by the god AI Anubis (not null sector). At the time of the old war, Ramattra was actually created to lead other onnics into battle. It was shortly after the old war ended, ramattra had found the shambali monks and studied the ways of peace along with Mondatta and Zenyatta. It wasnt until Ramattra came to the conclussion humanity wanted nothing to do with omnics that Null Sector was then created. Null sector and the second omnic crisis were not waged by the same entities. Talon then saw Ramattra's mission for liberation of omnic kind as an opportunity to wage a new war to fuel Doomfist's premonition of evolving through conflict. It wasnt Null Sector who waged the old wars, but Null Sector is currently being played to wage a new war for Talon. Its even inferred in the most recent Mauga short that Talon is actually double crossing Null Sector and that its likely Ramattra doesnt even know Mondatta's assassination was Talon's doing. Rein fought in a war waged by a God AI, Rein got the recall to help against Null Sector attacks in the recent events of the game waged by Talon and Ramattra. Technically, Rein doesnt even know who Ramattra is nor what Null Sector's end goals are.

the Omnics tried to make humanity extinct. Quite literally a Terminator situation. Only difference is that humanity won. You don't just get over that. Meanwhile Ramattra is trying to start Omnic War 2
A: The humans caused the first terminator war, so I'm not sure you want to make that comparison here.
B: The Omnics didn't have free will until after the war, where they have been persecuted for actions that were outside their control.
C: This continued persecution is why Rammatra is doing what he's is.
Which is right and which is wrong? They have just as much right to live as us. A war where both sides are fighting for the future of the race who can ever one for want a future.
i love the interactions he has with bastion in the gameplay after this cutscene. he starts warming up and he says something about bastion not being so bad. so cute very very well written script
Rein has a legit reason to hate, imagine your brothers in war are falling all around you and so does your mentor and your dwarf friend bring the exact make and model robot to your home and says he’s friendly now.

They try to make reinhardt the one who can't change but they easily forget the tragedy reinhardt is right
He is right but Bastion isn't harming anyone, and if he paid attention he is being gentle with a bird. Bastion would kill if he loses his friend to someone, that's why in his animation he reverted back to the old code. He was furious and had nothing left to lose but that bird changed his mind but if he were to lose it to one of them then it'll repeat itself. Reinhardt would be no greater than the bastions he once fought.
The cutscenes were the best part of the missions
This is like a WW2 vet seeing the Japanese office that tortured his friend to death in a company meeting
Maybe not tortured to death but he did see his mentor die to him. You can't blame him for feeling that way.
Could you imagine a PvE mission where the attack Germany and you have to protect baldrics castle but to many enemies start swarming and rien is forced to watch his masters resting place be destroyed like he wants to stay but he is reminded of what happened last time being forced to move forward from his past they could have bastion also who comes to help protect the castle

@Marxeez Auroras gift was given to all the loving remaining onnics, but bastions still thinks Iikw a normal robot, he sentient, but he literally just thinks differently, he sees combat far differently from other omnics, and or humans, he was basically made for it, you can see ingame at the desk for missions on his lore hero card, that his thinking is more robotic

What Blizzard should have done is give the Main Overwatch characters a small campaign story to introduce the characters then the small cinematics get shown to bring more detail into their story... but reinhardt has every right there to be angry, scared and to hold onto the past against... "Them things" reinhardts baclstory is by far for me the most upsetting
