I remembered & loved this thriller back in day & still...used to have it on VHS back in 80s & 90s, Thomas was HOT back in 80s & in this movie, liked him, I'm few years younger an him Rutger saw many movies of him in 80s & 90s..always played in these kinda psychopath in all his movies ..good actor & be missed, ya good ole days
Man you guys are great. This movie terrified me best scene eating French fries and it's really a finger awesome movie I yelled and cried what great times thank you
You have Tom Spratley's then age wrong...unless the movie was released before his birthday. Otherwise, he'd be 72, not 71. Okay, you are indeed correct...to be sure, I looked him up before my original time of posting, but I neglected to look up the movie itself at that time. I have since done so and it was in fact released before he turned 72...sorry, my bad lol
As someone who had both hitchhiked cross-country a couple times, and also driven drive-aways cross-country, I was interested to see it. Then watching it, all I kept thinking was, "What the hell is UP with this flick?? FINALLY, Howell asks the question we've all been asking, and the hitcher says, "You're a smart kid, you figure it out." Gee, thanks. Where's Morgan Freeman when you need him? One question of etiquette the film did answer, though, is the age old debate regarding whether or not French fries should be eaten with the fingers.
This was a great movie!! I remember watching it at my friends slumber party. Scary!! 😬

Rutger was gorgeous in the Hitcher. He aged well for a good while then died relatively young… love him. John Jackson certainly has aged well!!
This was a great film, one of a kind and wonderfully directed and acted
best Horror movie ever made in my opinion !!!!!!
Stay gold Ponyboy.
Wow I was 16 when this movie came out now almost 52

C Thomas Howell turned into a really cool-looking older guy.
