Not sure if it’s been mentioned but when the slots are disappearing due to wear that’s a great indicator that the rotor needs replacing Just like when your break fluid is low in your master cylinder it means the fluid is in the calliper and that indicates your pads are low
Quick tip ..As I found out today while doing the brake upgrade on my 2014 chevy ss...make sure parking brake is released before starting, It will save you an hour...LOL
Agreed mate. Im a mechanic and I've tried about 5 different known name brands and bendix has always been my pick. 2 things I won't skimp on is tyres and brakes
I like the way manufacturers and distributors get onside with youtube creators with donations etc. Works for them and the creator. I've seen this happen with very low exposure channels. All good eh.
I put these same rotors on and I'm getting noise from them. Sounds like a thin playing card on spokes . It's not my bearings because the stock rotors never did that noise .
I use two large flat blade screwdrivers the push back Brembo pistons with the old pads still in and suck some fluid out of the resovoir with vf commodore the electric handbrake doesn't need to be adjusted regularly like ve manual handbrake. Can you guys rotate that washer bottle cap anti clockwise to where it's meant to go it's really bothering me.
Why do the brake pads stick out past the caliper so far? And then have those large chunks of aluminum riveted to them? Or those heat sinks for the brake pads? To help disperse heat out of the pads and themselves? Just curious if so just the 1st time I've ever seen this
G'day guy's how do you adjust an electric handbrake on a Vf and also when taking the rear disc's if you have trouble putting the disc's back on cos of the internal handbrake how do you back it off please ?
How did you push the front pistons back? I’ve tried using the tool you used on the rear on multi piston calipers and it just pushed the other piston out. I need to replace my pads on 6 pot calipers.
I just lever off the pads before unbolting them. You push the pistons back in and the pads stop the pistons from sliding out when the one beside them is pushed in
How are the rotors and pads going ,any squeaking noises and sutter at all? cheers guys. :) also check if the harmonic balancer has a wobble they are prone to it, due to the shit manufacturing process of them, if it has, then replacement is required otherwise the other pulleys and may even damage the a/c compressor as well, powerbond HB1117N is the Oe replacement for it, mine has a slight wobble now, getting the A/C belt which is Gates #4PK1110 and the main serpentine belt # 6PK1840 and the balancer done ( change the OE balancer bolt as well or use the ARP bolt if you want that extra peace of mind) but not really required the Oe bolt is just fine?cheers and please let us know how the bendix brakes are going. :)
guys i knew that bendix did them, in fact i require a set of ultimate pads for the front and rear soon ie: around 6 to 10 months from now, holden said i require new pads and rotors, i checked them and they are as below sizes) , i have had the car for approx 5 years and my pads are only 1/2 worn wear indicator and used a vernier to check thickness left on the pads and the front rotors are 31.5 mm ( 32mm new) and the rear are 360mm upgraded rotors and brembo calipers, so the rear pads are the same 1/2 way worn and the rotor is 27.5mm thick( 28mm new), so in 5 years the rotor wear was on.u 0.50 thousands of a inch and the same with the rear rotors? Its a 2015 SSV redline with rear silver brembo calipers and that's it other than rear mufflers were changed to DPE set, so it sounds at least like a V8 when you drive and start it. But also DBA rotors are expensive, unless you use there ecoshield or Oe replacement rotors, but one aspect of the bendix pads there's rubber shims which EBC makes and i would have put the rubber shims on the front ones just to stop any squeaking noises the rears already have them fitted by bentix, the fronts don't have them, cheers :) The rubber shims is basically sticky rubber thin pads which you cut to size and stick them on the outside of the pad ( the surface areas which the inner piston touches and wow the difference it makes is amazing), anyway keep the redline going and keep up the great work guys. :)
Marc's Mildly Interesting Motors may have had to do a bit of an emergency braking the other night with the abs in full effect and it pulled up with plenty of meters to spare. Was impressed.
Here you go guys / people. ua-cam.com/video/Z_mPyZ4-GNk/v-deo.html cheers :) Also Bentix made a mistake with the series two redlines, as they have 355 mm on the front (correct ) and the rears are 360mm on their new brochure for rotors it (wrong they have 324 mm) so be carefull, best to ring the tech line to make sure you can get them in that size for the rear if you have 360mm rear rotors sizes or a series two redline and need rear rotors to replace, cheers :) I have contacted Bentix to update and re check the sizes for all the cars and 4 x 4's for the rotor online brochure and maybe hard copies or wall mounted posters if any against OE spec's listings they may have. cheers :)
Why didn't you show us the hub b4 you put the front rotor on? Is that Bcos your suppose to clean the bolts and the surface with a wire brush and you didn't want to futher explain that part in your video?
I still cannot believe Holden were still using that internal drum for the park brake. I would have thought by the time they introduced the VF Holden would have gone for a disc. A question for you guys, do these Bendix pads cover your wheels with brake dust or they are good in that regard? Thanks for uploading this video.
VE and VF standard brakes are the same across all models, with the only differences are v8 ones have larger rotors and caliper cradles. The part number for the bendix rotors are BR2026 and BR2027 for v6. V8 ones are BR2028 and BR2029. Bendix pad part number is DB1765 and DB1766.
Never liked the breaking in coating on the pads. They increase the temperature with even light braking & if you're not careful, the discs will glaze immediately & cause annoying squealing. Had this issue twice, I just rub the shit off by rubbing the pads together. If you like to break HARD use the heavy duty pads they offer. The discs look extremely like DBA manufactured items, even the internal kangaroo paw venting looks similar.
I have series two redline with the front and rear brembos and even those are really underwhelming for the weight of the car. I might upgrade the fronts one day...
*SSV Redline Not just an SSV, come on guys. People might get confused and buy the wrong Rotors and pads for a standard SSV with the small shitty brake calipers/ rotors on front, because you just called this Redline a standard “SSV”
Ha I can imagine the shitshow that would have been, showing your bleeding technique (which would have been fine either way). Knob Jockky's riding it hard behind the keyboard on here.. Anyway cool video thanks for the info!
What do expect with an ugly series 1 redline. Has shitter everything than the series 2 redline. Including engine braking, looks. Any1 who bought a series 1 got ripped off when the series 2 came out with the LS3.
Bendix ultimate pads suck arse. So much dust, can squeal and don't pull up as well as Intima or redstuff pads. Don't buy them. I'd rather Bendix general CTs over ultimate. They're that bad.
You need to get a life if all you do is watch Holden videos. Go drive your Barra. True car guys respect others cars. The Barra is a great engine but remember there will never be another Australian built car.
Seriously.... who cares if the rotor is 1 mm under spec. Most drivers who daily drive, it would not make a scrap of difference as their brakes would not even get hot in fact most people wouldn't even know what brake fade is as they wouldn't even push their brakes to the limit. Standard factory brakes are fine for daily driving. Ohhh don't use rotors that are under spec, you're car is unsafe blah blah blah
I haven't even watched this video, but you are supposedly a mechanic, why didn't you turn these up on the lathe?? Mumble mumble moan. The young people these days! 🤣
Hi mate, I've got the front Brembo brake upgrade on my Calais V and the VF series 1 Brembo brakes will fit any series one VF as long as you have HSV or Redline specific wheels. The offset in them is different to the standard Commodores.
The coating on them, especially the centre is brilliant as I’m yet to have mine rust on to the hub unlike old ones.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but when the slots are disappearing due to wear that’s a great indicator that the rotor needs replacing
Just like when your break fluid is low in your master cylinder it means the fluid is in the calliper and that indicates your pads are low
Tip for new players make sure your brake fluid reservoir isn’t about to overflow as you push pistons back in.
Better idea, push all that old heat cycled fluid out of the bleeds and feed in new fluid to the master to keep the fluid fresh.
Quick tip ..As I found out today while doing the brake upgrade on my 2014 chevy ss...make sure parking brake is released before starting, It will save you an hour...LOL
I was banging on that thing with a hammer for a good 10-20 mins smh
How does one turn off the electric park brake?
Bendix pads are the only 4x4 pad to use. Go through water and mud and work coming out the other side unlike some other brands.
Agreed mate. Im a mechanic and I've tried about 5 different known name brands and bendix has always been my pick. 2 things I won't skimp on is tyres and brakes

I use a screwdriver to flick the little bit in the hole as well.
She doesn't like it much though 😎
G'day guy's how do you adjust an electric handbrake on a Vf and also when taking the rear disc's if you have trouble putting the disc's back on cos of the internal handbrake how do you back it off please ?
I've bought some 22" Simmons for my VF SS ute (non-brembo). Wondering who to talk to about getting bigger brakes
Try Harrop. 👍
@@fullboost ok. Will match the SC that's in the way 👌

G clamp works great
An excellant rotor at a reasonable price with matching pads.
You don't always need to go bigger just better.
Mmmm maybe braided brake lines 😉
Broome…. 2 yrs later. Would you recommend these rotors over DBA’s?

Slotted isn't for heat, it's for brake gasses on hard braking! new tech lol been around for decades, just not in Australia, as always!
Please put a update to let everyone know how the brakes feel and how much dust is there before you need to wash the rims, please, cheers :)
7071t6 they are great so far. Been close to a month now and dust is as par with the old oem pads if not less in my opinion
Great video
Does Brembo make performance brakes for a vs commodore?
Groove n dimples are for gas release, Broomy fk, what size are those rotors?
Hey I recently bought a HSV SPORTSCAT, brakes are shot at 35000kms. Is that normal or bullshit as in my eyes?
Are you guys able to run 17 or 18 track wheels with those breaks? Which options are out there?
How long should it take a decent mechanic to do pads and rotors on a VF Redline on the front only?
30 mins
Love it.
BTW: When will there be more footage on the ramp truck build? I'm very keen on that.
Tepid Tuna very very soon.
How does she pull up now Broomy?

Nah, the slots are for venting the gases produced by the pads. Nah, don’t remove fluid, that’s what the master is for. It’s ok, you’re the pro mate.
Would these fit a ve Berlina.
