Such a slimeball. You can tell he doesn't even believe his own words. And I don't understand how he was able to 'win' this case, he seems dumber than a bag of rocks. His arguments were filled with holes, basically just a bunch of fluff. I'm shocked if those were the actual arguments that were used in court and they worked.

She's nuts! Why would you admit to all these things in the first place and do cartwheels, etc., to raise suspicion? She literally could've played the grieving partner, get the pay out and it would never gone to trial. Her own actions cost her the money!
By the way - i'm not condoning her behaviour, just highlighting what a nutter she is.

Eh, the guy wasnt even wearing a life vest, so he wasnt too worried abouty safety. I think that plays a big role. The kayak takes 10 mins to kill up gradually. Seems like he was being super careless that day, and the spouse didnt mind. She served about the right ammount of time, considering she would have got away completely if she just hadnt said anything.

She had a massive financial motive. But even without that, sociopaths like her will just choose to kill someone because they didn't see them as human in the first place. They have no empathy; in their minds people are objects to be used. So it's like tossing an old appliance in the trash, except messier, and they feel irritated at the trouble of having to get rid of it and angry at the person/object for inconveniencing them.

A few years ago, I was driving a jet ski. My wife and mother-in- law were sitting behind. After a few minutes I couldn’t control the jet ski at all. So much that we flipped over, all three of us floating on the water.
Once we were back on land, my friend noticed that the plug wasn’t all the way in, it was loose just enough for water to get in, and fast, causing the jet ski to be uncontrollable, causing us to flip because of the weight of the water leaking in and our body weight.
Having experienced that I can see how removing the plug can be used to kill someone.

"If *you're* in rough water, *you* don't take a kayak like this"..... Well he did, so that statement is dumb.
You literally contradict yourself. You said "a plug wouldn't matter" and in another comment you said something along the lines of "water wouldn't go into a small hole"...... but in this comment, you flat out say "What he has is those cheap kayaks that sink."
So which is it? His kayak sinks or it's not possible to sink?
Yes, he should have been wearing a life vest. No, he shouldn't have been in rough waters.
However, even if he wore a life vest, the freezing temperatures of the water and with the rough water, he would have died anyway.
      Stop blaming the VICTIM.
You're also a fucking hypocrite. You say he "should have stayed in calm water", but you said that you were once caught in a riptide. So maybe you should have stayed in calm water.
Also, again, you said he should have worn a life vest. Well, you said when you were caught in a riptide, had you fallen out, you would have died. If that was the case, where was your life vest? Were you not wearing one? Or would have the riptide killed you even if you were wearing one?
Either way, yet again, even if he were wearing a life vest, with the freezing temperatures and the rough water, he still would have died.
Lastly, again, STOP VICTIM BLAMING AND SHE CONFESSED.

BUT, the o-ring and kayak plug in her car???? And this isn't proof enough to premeditated murder of this poor guy??? 2. the person knows he will most likely die from the race due to a crash - true
    3. the person who is a bad driver and knows he shouldn't race - also true

Usually this is because the attorney believes the potential client is guilty based on their case and evidence (note almost every defense on Crime Watch Daily believes their client is truly innocent), and with that a moral conflict. There are many stories of people who can't find a lawyer because their story is so batshit crazy or it is fairly obvious they did it and they can't win (and this includes outside of criminal law).

When he flipped over and was drowning, wtf was she doing, cause she only called 911 after he went down. He said "open grief was not a thing where she came from" well she didn't felt grief AT ALL, open or not. She was having a PARTY and posting stories of her CHILLING for god's sake. Then he compared her to "mob bosses" and said just because she is okay with him dead doesn't mean she killed him, well she was the ONLY one there when he died, if she truly did not killed him, to hell would she admit it? Yup, there would be NO controversy here if she had not unwisely spoken to police without a lawyer present or consulting with a lawyer first. No one should ever talk to the police without a lawyer present, especially if you are innocent. Anything you say to police can ONLY be used AGAINST you, and will never be used to prove your innocence. This case is a perfect example of that.
I cannot even imagine what I would say to police after a 12 hour interview session when I'm grieving over the death of a loved one - even if I wanted out of that relationship. I can imagine someone saying LITERALLY anything to make it stop. There is NO reason she should have subjected herself to that. After a traumatic event, you need several days to process the event and fully be able to recall how everything happened. That is why police involved in a shooting will not make a statement for a minimum of 72 hours.
DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE INNOCENT!

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet because I am not reading through almost 8,000 comments to find out LOL however any basic kayaker can tell you that the Scupper holes actually work in the reverse way that you would think. When you are in tall waves and wind you actually want to pull your plug because it allows your kayak to sink a couple inches deeper into the water and keeps the wind and waves from whipping it around as much. It makes it much easier to maneuver in rough and windy conditions. Let's say you have four Scupper holes on your kayak.. you could pull every single plug and the kayak will not sink. It will actually have less water in it than if you have the plugs in. So I'm not sure what the detectives are talking about because it is almost impossible to sink a kayak. Whether he had paddles or not only would allow him to direct the path in which he goes. He would just be along for the ride without.

Well how is it that he used the same hole without the plug to tie up the kayak to the car. If he used that hole to tie the kayak to the car, then he knew there was no cap and you can’t blame her for murder.

  • @lemonade5245
    @lemonade5245 2 роки тому +3

    Here's a hot take
It actually sounds a lot like the lawyer is right, and with strong evidence
She didn't took the cap off, he did, as he used the hole to put a hook and tie the kayak to the top of the car, there's evidence, it shows it was common practice as that's the way he tied the kayak for transporting
Also what the detective says _is completely bullshit,_ the hole is not for draining water while kayaking, it is for after, when you put the kayak _upside down to drip the water inside, that's why it is a drip hole,_ you kayak sitting on a man-sized hole, a 20mm hole in front of it, slightly above, would never let enough water inside to fill it completely, these things are hollow inside, let alone in 7 minutes in calm water!!! This isn't Disney where a small hole on top of the boat would sink it instantly
He didn't had a life vest, because he didn't brought one for himself, he kayaked from the start and back with no life vest, because he just didn't want to
The paddle makes sense, but it is still full of questionable stuff, like, you squeeze the paddle on itself, so you can hold it steady, it's basically like driving a car but the gear stick would only work if you squeezed it down, not really true to the detective's words of it instantly dismantling to the touch
Just like the fact she had the safety ring was his word too! no evidence, just like when she admitted to them on the beach, which is the actual motivation she didn't get arrested in front of a couple of senior cops, which would totally be liable as witness of a confession, even with no video proof, but they can't be liable, because it never happened, and claiming in court would throw the case out
The whole case is on the words of cops that are actively and obviously lying on television
This sounds like either an abusive relationship she blames herself but it's happy it ended, or she is mentally broken, and it is a fact she was judged as weird by everyone since the beginning, and she was battered by cops, with for us, half an hour, for her, 11 fucking hours of confrontational questioning by senior cops, and she was totally ripped out of 542 thousand dollars, and then spent time behind bars
We are literally judging people by nothing but labels, he's the victim so it wasn't his fault, she is glad he's gone so obviously it was her fault, the cops never lie and the lawyer is always scummy (that one is true)
I can even rationalize what the lawyer is doing, he knows it's a won case, but no one was going to defend her, because everyone just assumed she's guilty, he straight up made her give the entire inheritance up! And the cops couldn't let it happen and slapped her with _negligent homicide,_ it was her fault she didn't prevent it to happen ...???
In the end the mother can blame her, the cops arrested someone, the lawyer got the money, no one gives a shit about the corpse (well the focus wasn't the victim anymore, so?) and I hate it, the entire system, hate them

Because technically it's not. I know it's hard, but saying you wanted him gone doesn't mean you actually did it, could have been a gift sent to you by some murderer. Of course it raises red flags but you have to prove beyond any reasonable doubt she is the murderer. Otherwise there would be a lot of innocent people behind bars, just because they benefited in some way from the victim's death. Acting the way she did, saying she's euphoric and such because the person she disliked died doesn't mean she killed him. And I don't get why you people are mad at the lawyer, he did his job. It's rather the jury you should be mad about or the idiotic prosecutor who had all the evidence and still managed to screw up this case. Or maybe, just maybe, as bizarrely as this sounds, she was innocent after all, she just came off as a psycho for acting happy after Vinnie went to sleep with the fishies.

What if you, for whatever reason, unplugged the kayak and then forgot all about it? A girl with similar kind of reasoning as you would call you a murderer, but you couldn't convince her otherwise, because "tampering" with one's kayak is all she needs to think you are guilty. Your cries of innocence would not get to her and you would end up in jail.
Sometimes things aren't as easy as they seem, and I've seen too many times cops coercing suspects to admit to something they didn't do, including a police officer caught on camera of an interrogation room, who put a gun behind the suspect's head to make him confess to a murder.
I also like how some journalists are in shock when the suspect doesn't act humbly, she danced in the interrogation room, how dare she! What was she supposed to do? Sit their for hours bored? People act different. She acted more like an innocent person who's just happy her good for nothing husband is gone.
She may as well be guilty, but her husband wasn't too bright if it was that easy to get rid of him, he partially did it to himself (if not entirely).
