I think this and Trebek are the only two “celebrity” deaths I’ve ever cared about. Norm was my all time favorite. Balls of steel and original. Norm killed on stage…Oj killed his wife, and the hypocrisy was the worst thing about it.
It helps that it's clear that beyond their fame and celebrity, they were honest people who contributed to the happiness and well-being of others. Trebek and Norm lived their roles without cynicism -- Norm was biting and acerbic, but his joking criticisms were an honest, unflinching means to use comedy as a vehicle to share truth with a resistant, often ignorant public. As for Trebek, he was a humble genius with a huge stage, and he used it to pursue and promote curiosity and the appreciation of knowledge. To him, a well-read, informed public was a happy public, less likely to make choices that harm others. For both, a deep understanding of history and its present implications, and the insistence on telling the truth through their respective jokes and facts, placed them among the very best of us. RIP to two great people.
I don't know much about Rob Schneider, laughed at his antics on SNL; sometimes critics haven't been too kind to him.... but hearing him here in this interview I have a lot of respect. He's very thoughtful and well-spoken. What a great tribute to Norm Macdonald.
Schneider, like most people (comics included), missed Norm's point about being the smartest guy in the room and be _insufferable,_ or pretend not to know anything while, secretly, _really_ be the smartest guy and have people on your side. Also, morbid humor was where Norm's true genius came out. And, as he famously said about Chaplin, "Can _anyone_ sit through more than five minutes of that stuff?"

He wasn't a conservative and said on the record that he didn't like being called a conservative. He was a moderate.
@@thebrazilianatlantis165 whatever you want to believe but he was born in Quebec City to start. You can believe what you want about what he says to entertainment journalists. Enjoy your day.
@@ZennyReacts Yep. literally said doing political material was hack. I respect your opinion and you're free to have it, but don't be like " I love this deceased person, they believed what I do."
He was a comic and a master of the art with hang ups he was honest about. You need to perceive art correctly, my friend.
What a beautiful testament to Norm and his beautiful soul. May he rest in peace and no longer in pain. To all others suffering in this world, my prayers go out to you as well... keep your head up!
"Me name's McManus....." so beings the greatest monologue in cinematic history.
He could make you laugh no matter what... he was a gift
@@bobzmuda9603 they both had courage
irreplaceable ....perfect word. he just was....him. and that's why we loved him. such a spirit and heart. Love ya' Norm
I don't cry when celebrities die, but I had tears when I heard about Norm even though I do own a dog house 😭😭😭
Me too. He was loved man. Glad you own a dog house and you’re not one of them gays
@@renehagens4360 it's part of a Norm Macdonald joke he told once.
And, as he famously said about Chaplin,
"Can _anyone_ sit through more than five minutes of that stuff?"
Rob, you made my heart weep. He was lucky to have a friend like you. Note to self: never forget this great legend.
Norm and super Dave must be having one hell of a time.
You bet. Having a great conversation. Laughing.
@@crashburn3292 I teared up when I heard about norm. Anytime my PTSD or depression would kick in I would just binge norm clips and I would be ok. I wish I could of thanked him for what he has done and will continue to do for me. Bless you norm you crazy SOB.
Yup genius timing and delivery!
RIP Norm, one of the all-time comedic greats!!
I can imagine norm in heaven shouting “hey Rob stop stealing my jokes”
The greatest delivery
RIP NORM YOU LEFT US HERE
Almost 5 months and I still miss Norm. He was a legend. Always made me laugh, or at the very least, smile.
I realized how deep of a mind Norm had when he said something along the lines of "no one wants to hear comedy from someone smarter than you." Who knew, keeping his secret this whole time that time he was really trying to teaching us a much deeper lesson:
"no one wants to hear comedy out of a tumor riddled old man."
I saw Rob doing his show in Bowling Green, KY not long after Norm passed, maybe days or a few weeks or so. I don't watch the news so I didn't hear of his passing. Rob had a nice tribute to Norm halfway through. When he started talking about Norm passing I laughed because I thought he was bullshitting. I'm pretty sure Rob heard and looked at me. Only after a couple minutes i realized he was serious. That's how I heard of Norm's death, from Rob Schneiders mouth.
I can’t believe I’ll never be able to ask him where he got his ideas from. Goodbye, sir. Hope your friends and family are doing well.
Thank you for this interview. Saddened by the news.
The world is mourning right along with you Robbo. His death hit me right in my feels. 😭🤮🤬😡💩👎
Rest well Norman...and we thank you
Love Rob Schneider, kudos to him for opening his heart and you can really see his genuine love for Norm
Sucks to lose a friend
Yep...lost my best bud 15yrs ago
My bf growing up just died last week at 31.
Soo random, then Norm outta nowhere.. 😔
This month has been bad, reminds me of that national tragedy.
we love you Norm. You've inspired me to just let loose and be yourself. Thanks for all the great laughs. I'll never forget you man. Now only you and GOD know if OJ is really guilty hahah. RIP
We love you Norm.
The news anchor not getting the joke at all was hilarious. Norm would've loved that.
"I'll do some of Norm's jokes". That's nice, but nobody could tell them like Norm.
WOW. Life is Special when you have good friends. Thank You
rob is a sweet guy, appreciate you helping us all get through this man. love you norm.
What a loss😥😥
Norm was special. His voice could lift your spirits alone. Rest In Peace.
The king is dead ,
Long live the king.
What a great thing to say from Rob. Makes me like him more. Love his movies!
He would stick to the principles of comedy to the very end, even if it was dark and could get him into trouble. And only he could get away with the most horrible things.
Good stuff Rob... Norms style always showed how smart he was...he "got it" and it never matter if others didn't "get it". RIP to the King of zero f*cks ever given.
a National Tragedy
I meet Rob a couple weeks ago in a Scottadale restaurant.. my friends son went up to him and said hi… He was the nicest celebrity ever.. He was with his family, and took the time to talk to my friends son, introducing him to his family. He spent about 5 min chatting with him and asked if he wanted a photo at the end.. it was really cool.
Interviewer's fake laughter... Couldn't be more leashed.
Norm had GREAT DELIVERY, and his expressions were HYSTERICAL!!!!
i loved watching this
