hi Levy, you said you did a video on every opening but you didn't do a video on the alekhine defense. can you please make a video? I am waiting for it for decades!
I paused and analysed the critical position for half an hour and I did come up with a4+ (always look for checks). White has a rook for a pawn, but also has three problems to solve: bishop on d8 is hanging, Ng3+ threatens the queen, Nxc1 wins an exchange. If they can consolidate, they will win. Here's how I evaluated Black's possible responses to a4+: Kxa4: Qd1+ forces a queen trade and the rook ends up defending the bishop on d8. White is better in this endgame. Kc5: A bit less clear, but Qf2+ (followed by Re3 or Nd4 blocking) seemed ok. I ran out of time to fully calculate concrete lines. Kc4: Worst response by Black because Qxf7+. Kc5 is a worse version of Kc5 a move earlier. Kd4 leads to mate. bxa3 e.p.: Rb1+ (🎶) followed by Bb2 (block and self-pin) and Bc7 (preventing Ng3+) solves most of White's problems. Again, a bit unclear but looks better for White.
"Nobody will find the move..." Me: finds the move. Lolz. To be fair I figured it had to be check and there were only two checks. Bishop to deflect the king - but I saw nothing after that. Or pawn. If en passent then the rook can now see the king to give a check. It actually seemed like the easiest move to find. :P
