Technically the most basic way to mate someone is either the bank rank mate or the smothered mate as they only require one move however they are far more difficult to see so at an elementary level ladder mate is indeed the easiest

For those of us in the middle of the bell curve, sometimes we intentionally forgo what we think is the best move in the hopes that our equally inept opponent will blunder the resultant position. Stockfish is never impressed by that "strategy".

I used to think I was bad as a kid because in that situation I'd have made sure the queens were always on diagonals with one another on similar rows/columns to ensure there's no way to take them. Never imagined seeing someone lose two queens to just a king for absolutely no reason, the 50 move rule is more than generous enough to ensure play it safe when you can't lose.
Finally! Another episode of bad chess so I can feel better about myself and completely forget that I have an assignment to do and be proud of myself being a lousy 1500! Best series on UA-cam!
Been stuck on 1500 for like 5 years and like a year ago when covid started I finally got to 1600. Was the happiest moment of my life.... Until I fell back to 1500. But now I have been pretty much stable 1600 for a while now and dont feel like falling anymore.
