I love the idea of an upright freezer, it looks so much easier to see what you have than a regular deep freezer. Also, now I want to clean out my freezer . . .
It is way easier to keep track of stuff! And you don’t feel like you’re going to fall in when you reach for something at the back (or maybe that’s just a short person problem with a chest freezer? 🤷♀️)
i have had my frost free upright freezer for over 20 years. It has been a great appliance. The only time i have had to clear ice buildup out of it is when someone left the door cracked open and it frosted over, but only near the front of the freezer.
That’s so good to hear! We’ve moved and I left my old freezer behind so I will be looking for a frost free upright soon!
I have a chest freezer which is manual defrost and an upright freezer that is frost free…hands down the frost free upright freezer was worth the money ❤
I defrost the chest freezer about every 9 months. It’s just my husband and I, so the freezer doesn’t get bad. I inventory when I defrost it. The upright freezer I have a running inventory list and adjust it when I put stuff in or take stuff out of the freezer.
You sound so organized! My running inventory is in my head, so it’s not always reliable 😄

I store in cardboard currently. We have a ton of meat, all in cardboard. Have been thinking about upgrading because of how often we have to defrost.
Defrosting is such a big job!
