    Hi Lisa! I just found you and this is exactly what I was looking for! My painting is too uptight and anxious and I want to learn how to paint more intuitive, not worry so much about ruining things. And this vid is very inspiring, just what I wanted to see. I realise you have years of experience and Thank you for your generosity in sharing it and answering questions, much appreciated! Just subscribed and will look through all your vids. This is so cool! I tried the oil/cold wax and although I like the technique I am not crazy about the oil paints, esp. the cleaning up. Think I might try these techniques with acrylics too. I have some tubes of the Golden Open acrylics, I feel these could be perfect for this technique. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful work.

      Brigitte, So glad you enjoyed the video. I agree, oil and cold wax are very messy! The clean up is not so bad, if you use wet ones wipes and gamsol to help in the clean up process! I do use a lot of the same tools and techniques with my acrylic/mixed media paintings! Just with water!! I have several youtube videos on my acrylic painting as well! Thanks!

    I find it fascinating that you paint in a similar manner using cold wax or acrylics. Love it! Question. Do you use different tools for different media? Do you use one messermeister for wax & a different one for acrylics? Different brayer - keeping things separate? Thank you for your wonderful videos & for always taking the time to answer our questions.

    • @LisaBBoardwine

      Denise, I try to keep tools for each medium. I do work basically the same way, in both mediums.. Thank you very much for tuning in!!

    Oh and a question for you - what is your best tip for creating the effect of light in the whiteish part? I never manage to make it glow like this, mine are just flat white 17:08

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  7 місяців тому +1

      I like to build the whites up, having some color in the under layers can be nice! If you want a brighter more clean white -wait until the lower layers are more to a dry state/ then add some bright white as a finishing layer! Also having a yellow or warmer color beneath the white makes it glow!! 🎨

    Thanks for this demo on acrylics. After watching several of your demos, I'm inspired to get back to learning to paint again. I have lots of acrylic paints from a few years back. Will they still be safe to use after a long period of time. Do they have an expiration? I so what to get back into it especially during the summer heat in Arizona. Again, you are inspiring me!

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  5 років тому

      I am so glad you are inspired to start painting again! Acrylics don’t necessarily have an expiration date but the manufacturers usually give you a “shelf-life” date. They can go bad- they can dry out and harden, they can develop mold, have an unpleasant odor,

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  5 років тому

      Hope this helps, check with the manufacturer of the brand of acrylics you have to see what their shelf life is. Thanks for watching!

    Do you allow any drying time between additions of paint to your surface? It doesn't look like you do. I find that when I apply one color to my painting while paint is still wet/damp, the colors become "muddy"

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  7 місяців тому

      I do allow time between some layers, Applying wet over wet layers can get muddy but that’s not always a bad thing! Also the amount of pressure you use applying the paint with your scraper, palette knife or brush, also can affect the color. Try varying the pressure of your layers of paint. Hope this helps!🎨

    Yeah, Acrylics! I was hoping you could translate your cwm technique to acrylics. BTW what was the Golden product in a jar that you used about half way thru? molding paste?? I'm really looking forward to both your cwm and the acrylic mixed media demos in the future. Thank you

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  4 роки тому

      c fer, The same techniques for CWM can be used with Acrylic/Mixed Media painting. Even a lot of the same tools! The white golden product I added about half way thru was the heavy bodied golden titanium paint, just needed a thicker application of paint at that point! I enjoy the heavy bodied paints a lot! Thank you so much for tuning in!!

    Hi Lisa....love love your work... I have been watching your videos on my tv...not able to leave comments there...on my iPad now so I can message....I have been following you for awhile...all that I have seen is oil/cold wax....I am a beginner....I have used acrylics....but I’m am noticing with your oil/cold wax pieces there’s more interesting things you have done on the piece as opposed to acrylic...the smoothness and depth seems to be different with oil. Am I correct in this or is it just the videos I had been watching...and I have watched many of the oil videos...I only just found this acrylic one. Thank you.....I can’t tell you how much I appreciate being able to watch you work...I want to learn and you have an easy way about explaining and showing...thank you...❤️🎨

      maxnme21,Thank you so much! I enjoy painting in both oil/cold wax and acrylic /mixed media. The oil/cold wax does handle differently than the acrylic/mixed media, but I find each has their own beauty! I approach both mediums in pretty much the same way, using some of the same tools! It is just fun to switch back and forth occasionally! Here are some more video links for the acrylic youtube videos!

    Why not use texture paste?

    • @LisaBBoardwine
      @LisaBBoardwine  Рік тому

      You can use texture paste -if you prefer it to gesso. I enjoy using gesso because I like the texture and feel the gesso creates. But use whatever you prefer, both work great! Thanks for watching!🎨
