One of the best dueling games I’ve played. If you land a critical hit to the enemy without incapacitating them their entire fighting stance and style changes. Also, the heavy attack within the Posta di Donna says high right, but it also appears to be high left. @@maxflame3105 As always: as fast as possible. Stuff like stories and cutscenes, that are designed to be played through just once, need to be polished to final quality. Most people will play them once, and never again, so I can't release any stories in "pre-alpha" state (for example with bad face animations, or one bandit model copied 10 times, instead of 10 different models of bandits). Most players will buy the game, play through the story mode, say "I finished the game" and move on. Once the story is in there, it will become the core of everything, so I feel I have to do it right on the first try, Early Access or not.
Game's amazing, I'm not criticising it. Just a minor detail in the rule of way. It would be better if it will be gained only when the attack starts. For example at the 12:28 Gideon clearly starts his attack first and makes a successfull attack that would disable Barabash. But Barabash instead of defending himself decides to flash Gideon. There's no sense that Barabash had won that round.
On hema tournaments in my region the right of way is gained only when the attack starts. It does not carry on with you while you are running around. I know it's beyond the scope of a 2 person team, but VR desperately needs a proper HEMA simulator! Primarily in the enemy behaviour, animations and AI. Enemies in games like Blade and Sorcery don't use proper HEMA footwork and techniques. I hope if your game is successful, one day you'll make a sequel, spinoff or update with full VR motion controls, just like something like Blade and Sorcery.
Bought the game a while ago it's freaking great. I can't wait for the full release. Maybe you guys can add other sword systems aswell aside from HEMA. I'd love to see Asian styles. Filipino, Thai, Japanese and Chinese would be great DLCs if the game is successful.
we might get Chinese because there was SOME interaction between Europeans and the Chinese. But very far east, don't count on it. We might get the Mongols at the least.
@Kubold Can confirm HQ runs great on Steam Deck LCD and is a joy to play, it's where I've spent most of my hours :) However, I've spotted a possible issue on Steam Deck OLED. The new screen is 90Hz, and HQ sets the Simulation Rate to 90Hz (player can't change this?) The Steam Deck has no problem running the game at 60fps, but it can't achieve 90fps on some stages, so it runs in slow motion on those stages. Changing in-game graphics settings doesn't make enough difference to solve the problem (and I'd rather not downgrade my graphics anyway, compared to what was working fine on the LCD model). The Deck's FPS & refresh limiter don't help either (I've tried limiting to 60fps/60Hz but the sim still runs at 90Hz). Any thoughts on how to fix this? I can help with testing if you need it, just lemme know where (Discord? Steam forum?) This issue aside, I absolutely love the game :D Thank you for making it ✌️
@@VanBurenPhilips Thanks for reporting, had no idea that new Deck has 90Hz. Quick solution: Set: - Force Target FPS to on - Target FPS to 60Hz - Graphics Quality to "Medium (No Vsync)". Restart the game TWO TIMES to be sure the vsync is really really off. This should make the game run at 60fps with no vsync. I'll buy a Steam Deck OLED to make sure all levels will work in 90Hz though - optimize heavy levels a bit, add more quality options etc.
@@Kubold Thanks! I tried those changes and it was still in slo-mo, but when I also enabled force FPS: 60, it played well again. (I'd completely forgotten about that setting) It feels right to me, and the Deck reports solid 60fps. I forget the stage names, but one that is slow at 90fps is the bottom-left of the stage select screen (inside a wooden storage house), this is the one I've been testing. The open field with the watch tower seems to run full speed at 90fps.
Today i tried to play this game with my friends after a session of mk11 and sadly i didn’t feel like anyone really liked it very much. Because every fight ends up in one or two swings and you often don’t feel like you are truly at control of your character. That was the general feedback. I just don’t feel like you would randomly pick this game instead of any other fighting game to play with friends. On the positive side everyone loved the idea, character design and the music. 😢
Hey @Kubold! I Sent you an email about helping out with the tatar character a few days back. Could you read it? Is he still in the table for future development? I would love to see something like it in the future. Best of luck and happy Holidays!
всех показали с разных сторон, с разных ракурсов, все удары, блоки, парирования, контратаки и все остальное... и только Марте уделили сотую долю секунды =(
There is not enough dodging of the body at an angle to then carry out a counter attack, and I’m not talking about the side step, I mean when you want to dodge the blade at one of the angles while standing still. in the game you can only do side step or just walk to avoid getting hit, but what if I want to be something like Mike Tyson and his peek-a-boo style?
You'd get cut. There's no dodging when fighting with swords, you simply can't move fast enough to weave through the leveraged blade. You either parry the blow or move out of its range.
The majority of hardcore PC Gamers prefer keyboard and mouse, the keyboard binds looks awful. It's more intuitive to have the attack keys bound to the mouse as it is in other games on PC. PC Gamers would rather spend 50 to 100 dollars on a gaming mouse than deal with the crappiness that is the controller.
I want to like this game, but the autoguard is just too jank for it to really feel like a skill based game. Every duel boils down to trying to cheese the auto guard AI into being dumb, then win. Feels like it's intention to be a console game limiting the functionality too much. As a purely PC game you could have many more modifiers, such as alt + movement + directional attack for manual blocking for 16 more options, or ctrl + the same for 32 options for manual guard. There is really only so far you can go when the system is just "bait guard, kill." It feels very much trapped in Medium-Low skill floor, Medium skill ceiling.

wow fencing cossacs. i bet they even left some literature on the matter
Quality
I know it's beyond the scope of a 2 person team, but VR desperately needs a proper HEMA simulator! Primarily in the enemy behaviour, animations and AI. Enemies in games like Blade and Sorcery don't use proper HEMA footwork and techniques. I hope if your game is successful, one day you'll make a sequel, spinoff or update with full VR motion controls, just like something like Blade and Sorcery.
interesting that you compare it to the ufc games.
I've got dejavu, did you have to reupload this video?
Something to do with disturbing video game content got it age restricted I think.
Bring this to consoles please
Doubtful
Bought the game a while ago it's freaking great. I can't wait for the full release. Maybe you guys can add other sword systems aswell aside from HEMA. I'd love to see Asian styles. Filipino, Thai, Japanese and Chinese would be great DLCs if the game is successful.
unfortunately the plot of the game is based in Poland so this wouldnt make much sense
we might get Chinese because there was SOME interaction between Europeans and the Chinese. But very far east, don't count on it. We might get the Mongols at the least.
Please Bring Zweihander! To stream deck too
Hellish Quart runs very well on Steam Deck.
As for zweihander - we'll see :)
@Kubold Can confirm HQ runs great on Steam Deck LCD and is a joy to play, it's where I've spent most of my hours :)
However, I've spotted a possible issue on Steam Deck OLED. The new screen is 90Hz, and HQ sets the Simulation Rate to 90Hz (player can't change this?)
The Steam Deck has no problem running the game at 60fps, but it can't achieve 90fps on some stages, so it runs in slow motion on those stages.
Steam forum?)
This issue aside, I absolutely love the game :D Thank you for making it ✌️
@@VanBurenPhilips Thanks for reporting, had no idea that new Deck has 90Hz.
Quick solution:
Set:
- Force Target FPS to on
- Target FPS to 60Hz
- Graphics Quality to "Medium (No Vsync)".
(I'd completely forgotten about that setting)
It feels right to me, and the Deck reports solid 60fps.
I forget the stage names, but one that is slow at 90fps is the bottom-left of the stage select screen (inside a wooden storage house), this is the one I've been testing.
The open field with the watch tower seems to run full speed at 90fps.
@@Kubold is smallsword gonna appear in the next uptade?
Were is the new bushido blade man
bushido blade
This game looks neat, but if you can't end them rightly I don't see the point.
Bleed out?

"hellish quart is a farting game"
всех показали с разных сторон, с разных ракурсов, все удары, блоки, парирования, контратаки и все остальное... и только Марте уделили сотую долю секунды =(

Shut up and take my money 🤑
Looks clunky

There is not enough dodging of the body at an angle to then carry out a counter attack, and I’m not talking about the side step, I mean when you want to dodge the blade at one of the angles while standing still. in the game you can only do side step or just walk to avoid getting hit, but what if I want to be something like Mike Tyson and his peek-a-boo style?
You'd get cut. There's no dodging when fighting with swords, you simply can't move fast enough to weave through the leveraged blade. You either parry the blow or move out of its range.
Put it on gamepass plz
The majority of hardcore PC Gamers prefer keyboard and mouse, the keyboard binds looks awful. It's more intuitive to have the attack keys bound to the mouse as it is in other games on PC. PC Gamers would rather spend 50 to 100 dollars on a gaming mouse than deal with the crappiness that is the controller.
i need dedicated severs. Stop making new char, work on a progression system, make the game more avalible online
Unfortunately not possible at this point with a physics game like this. Halfsword ran into this issue too and they have a larger dev team.
There is really only so far you can go when the system is just "bait guard, kill."
It feels very much trapped in Medium-Low skill floor, Medium skill ceiling.
