this game looks amazing. One thing I'd recommend adding though is a bleedout system. Coming from a person who has some medical training (firefighter/emt) I can confidently say that when your SNS (sympathetic nervous system, controls adrenaline) is active, you can function with multiple stab wounds, even to vital organs (at least for a short period). What makes people fall over is blood loss, or if your lung is punctured, lack of oxygen. Usually you won't even register the pain until the adrenaline wears off and if something like the heart is hit, you'd be dead before you feel it. This is because your opioid/cannabanoid and other pain receptors are upregulated when your SNS system is in overdrive. This is called stress induced analgesia. It's why people who get stabbed always say they thought the guy just punched them at first.
@Toy yeah the body is pretty weird. You can even run around for a few seconds after a stab wound to the heart very often before falling over dead. If I were designing the game I'd have a system that creates a situation where the rate of blood lost depends on where you get hit. Out of 10 it'd be like heart-10, stomach-2, aorta-8/9 ect. Once the meter ran out the other guy would just collapse in the middle of the fight.
Thumbs up for bleedout system, but I think the game does a great job of allowing multiple minor stabs from the rapier yet can kill with just one good blow.
@@isaiahmendoza6394 i think the game 'stops' the fight at any fatal strike because realistically, if you struck a killing blow you could just hang back while your foe bleeds out. no need to advance and risk injury if the fight is already won. This translates into boring gameplay.

Grappling obviously plays a massive element in any kind of fight, and I understand that it can be difficult to find a solution to it. On your point of not wanting to make a minigame - probably the most obvious one would be rock-paper-scissors - once you remove movement from a fighting game, it really just becomes rock-paper-scissors anyway. I don't have direct answers, but my thoughts are that it should be based heavily on stamina management, that you can use directional controls to push, pull and sway your body, and that controlling your opponent's weapon is the most important part of grappling. I think Kubold has access to enough HEMA experts in his home country. I imagine that the only problem right now is the pandemic making organizing motion capture sessions that much harder.
The grappling, in my mind, should not have to use a minigame, separated from the rest of the combat. Two players fighting with direction buttons over the center of balance may indeed be worth trying. I plan to get some HEMA people to perform this on mocap - I need two people anyway to record this.

Strikes to lose long weapon so that fighter has to transition to dagger or empty hand. I can't imagine how to do something like this. You guys are brilliant. Thank you.
Amazing game, Amazing work, all the kudos, take your time to make the project fit your vision, we will all be better off for it. Thank you!
I'm glad y'all started with sabre, a weapon I've trained more with, but I'm definitely excited for some classic longsword plays.
yes please, take your time this has enormous potential
Your concept and execution are amazing keep going!!!
This model have alot of "moonwalk" or fantom moves. Leg animation have to be synchronized with the ground
dont worry too much about deadlines/time man. You get to be one of the rare developers that actually take the time to deliver quality! Dont be like warhorse studio, i do love their work but wouldve gladly waited 6 months longer for their game to be polished and debugged.
Looks like a real life super accurate HEMA sim with high graphics combined with the basics surrounding bushido blade, I can definitely see a lot of people picking this up once available!!!
I wasn't the only one thinking abt the old unique game😆
This game is a lot of fun, i played it today for the first time and it's amazing, i love the longsword
Ta walka nie tylko wygląda realistycznie. Ona jest realistyczna. Ta gra to coś wyjątkowego. Nigdy w życiu bym nie pomyślał, że będę się jarał czymś takim a jednak nie mogę się doczekać premiery.
Fantastic! It definitely has the _gameplay_ of real fencing, which is SO much more fun than the dumbass bashing and slashing, or the clunky collision sims we usually get in games. This is absolutely the way to go! And since we got things like Remote Play Together and Parsec now, it doesn't even need netcode :)
Take the time to make a masterpiece, this will be a fan favorite!
This game is a masterpiece already in its own right and the wait will be worth it!
This game is everything I hope, in one game, THANK YOU
This is so good. Dont rush this man, take your time get this game right. I cant wait to play it in EA. Especially as a longsword fencer
I just discovered this game and am blown away by it. Its very easy to pick up and play but will take a long time to master especially against human opponents. This fight system could truly revolutionize the hack and slash genre.
As a HEMA practitioner this game is a dream. Super excited to try it out.
I don't know if you know this but you may have just opened the door for the best looking Lightsaber combat the world has ever seen in future games. I hope Lucas film games sees what you have done here
Every detail you include is a much-overdue slap in the face of every game that's come before and ever used the word "realistic". JUST the thoughtfulness behind "Strong and Weak Blocks" is itself phenomenal. I know it's grueling, but you're creating LIFE LONG fans here, and I'm a proud supporter. Take the breaks you need. Don't burn out. Just keep it up. Keep adding these beautiful mechanics. It's sincerely a work of art already, and I only hope I get to see it fully formed.
P.S. Could you add a Super Chat option? I'd like to offer further support, when possible.
Amazing game, hope you keep on making everything better
You guys are doing a great job, take your time!
Our boi here is truly a great person
Great explanation of how the longsword 'works'. Definitely feels OP until you figure it out. Love the variety of fighting styles in this game, so fun.
NEVER RUSH THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS GAME - IT IS A PIECE OF ART ALREADY! AMAZING GAME!
Holy cow dude this is awesome. I needed something like this and exanima
This is definitely going to be a ‘historic’ game, in more ways than one!
Good heavens! Is this a dream or reality? :D
I am flabbergasted every time by Hellish Quart haha, it's complex yet so simple to enjoy playing this. Can't wait for release lol
Keep on cose its just awsome! it deserves to be done and im buying it. Thanks for your effort and take your time in doing it.
Can't wait to see the grappling!
this is the coolest thing i've ever seen in a long time
I showed this to my friend who's a big fan of HEMA too, yeah we can't wait to play this game in it's full glory... once we have enough money for it XP
Just waiting for it. Already play the three characters for hundred times
You sir are a legend. Im just looking to use some of your animsets for a game. Had no idea you made this game too
