    Cool stuff, man! I have lots of HiveOS videos including BIOS Modding on my channel. Like others have said, that outside GPU is cooler because of its location and pulling cooler air from outside the rig while others are pulling warmer air from the GPU next to it. Love the build!

      Hi Abdifatah, it depends on the price you buy your GPUs at. Do not buy them at crazy prices. For example, just like what Nightcore said, an RX580 should be around $180 USD to $220 USD depending on where you are. But some people are selling it for double. Find good deals online. Also, keep in mind your electricity cost. I would say research it well before getting into it. I am a beginner miner so my risk is low.

I also made sure to power the motherboard PCIE from the ATX PSU. There is a 6 pin power slot on the motherboard for that. I read somewhere that it helps with powering the PCIE lanes.

    • @DaniTalksTech
      @DaniTalksTech  3 роки тому +1

      Hi AnotherOneMZ, it depends on what your goals are. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who thinks this is an easy way to get rich, because it's definitely not. The profitability in the last couple of weeks skyrocketed then fell down hard. They are still better than 6 months ago, but still you have to keep that in mind. So, if you are able to get reasonably priced msrp or less cards, and you have cash that isn't needed anytime soon, it would be a good idea to set up a mining rig. Also, keep in mind your electricity costs. That affects it big time!

    what size screws did you use to go into the motherboard?

    • @DaniTalksTech
      @DaniTalksTech  3 роки тому

      Hi GGradilla, I used 8 x 1. The link for those from homedepot is here: www.homedepot.ca/product/paulin--8-x-3-4-inch-flat-head-square-drive-wood-screws-zinc-plated-26pcs/1000119115
      One thing to be mindful of is being very careful when you're putting in the screws so that you don't bend/break the motherboard. I also added a rubber spacer between the motherboard and the wood to elevate it a bit.

    I really appreciate your video, I will shortly assemble my first rig and follow your instructions carefully : clear, complete, short and from begin to end! Only one observation, may be someone already wrote on this theme : i think the right card is the coldest and the left card the hottest only because the right one breathes free air and can blow cold air on the card. The others, with each step you take to the left, breathe heated air from the board to their right, and therefore become progressively warmer. It may be appropriate to review the positioning of the gpu cards, I speak in general and not strictly about your rig, taking into account that each one should have fresh air and not heated by the one next to it. For example by placing them horizontally side by side or, returning to the vertical case, building a guide for each fan that helps the fan itself to draw fresh air from outside the array. Better still it would be to feed this guide with an external fan placed at 90 degrees with respect to the directions of the gpu cards.

    • @DaniTalksTech
      @DaniTalksTech  3 роки тому

      Hi Giuseppe, thank you very much for your kind comment and for watching my videos. I appreciate it a lot! Good luck with building your first rig. In regards to the temperatures of the GPUs, I have since then been able to manually manipulate the fan speed to maintain a cool consistent temperature on each. As you already mentioned, the positioning also makes a big difference. I set up my fan speed at 70% at the coldest end and progressively increased it to 85 at the warmest end. This kept all the cards cool and under 60C or 55C.

      Hi Wes. Yes the stock cooler on the CPU is more than enough. Mining isn't a CPU intensive job at all and your cpu will barely be doing anything. And wich criptocurrency your mining? also if you can tell if it is worth because the main problem of mining is the electricity consumption. Great video btw so clean, i will recommend you putting more space between the gpus so there is a better air flow.

    • @DaniTalksTech
      @DaniTalksTech  3 роки тому +1

      Hi MaxLife, Thank you for your support man. In regards to your question about $ per day, it's very tough to answer that question accurately because that number fluctuated big time depending on many reasons (difficulty, competition for mining, price of the coin). I am personally mining ethereum at the moment and at the time of filming this video, each GPU was making around 3.5 USD per day. Since then it dropped significantly to around $2.2 or so. So it's quite tough to predict that. Also, in July, it is expected that profitability will decrease further. The best way to estimate profitability is to go to Nicehash at: www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator

      Not at all. The RAM is mostly for the operating system. If you have 4-8 GB you should be good to go regardless of the GPUs you have in your rig.

However, server power supplies are significantly cheaper than regular ATX power supplies.

      6 in the PCIe slots and 1 if you get an M.2 to PCIe adapter. However after the 4th GPU, you'd have to do some changes in the bios to make it work.

      Buy bigger PSU, it doesn't hv enough power. Basically you can only use 80% of you PSU capacity ea 750watt, you can only utilize 750 * 0,8 = 600 W.
      Each GPU use abt 180W at peak. That not counting the system which consumed abt 100W to 150W depending on your processor power rating. My suggestion is use at least 1000W PSU for your config.

    • @DaniTalksTech
      @DaniTalksTech  3 роки тому +1

      @@MoslemPerspective While wattage is something to keep in mind, I don't think this is the issue there. With his specs, the psu should power on close to 100%. It's not recommended to do, but it would work. I do think it's a mobo issue with it not being able to recognize more than 2 GPUs.

      Vinit, have you played around with the bios settings? Make sure you enable above 4G decoding in your bios if you have that setting. Also, try to change the PCIE speed to Gen2. See if that helps.
