Today is our last full day in New Zealand and it is such a bittersweet feeling. We have done so much the past few weeks that we are partly ready to head home and rest! But of course, we don't want this magical honeymoon adventure to be over.
As usual, we started our day off with some coffee, and we made our way to Akaroa where we went sailing. We saw so much wildlife, but our favorite were the dolphins. (You'll see for yourself!)
It was such a wonderful way to finish off our incredible honeymoon.
And since it was our final night, Owen and I decided to dress up and treat ourselves to a fancy, 5 course dinner.
We had to wake up at 2am the next morning to make it to the airport to fly home. Unfortunately, Owen and I had to part ways at the Christchurch airport because we were flying to two different parts of the US.
It was such a beautiful honeymoon Owen and I took, and we are very appreciative and happy for those who have followed our travels! I hope it has inspired you to take some sort of adventure, whatever it may look like.

As a New Zealander, I’ve really enjoyed your perspective. I’ve said it before, but it is sad to see you both leave. Another point is you’re both a credit to your country, you are all that’s good about the states, both of you are kind, polite and respectful. You have to come back!!
Thank you so very much!! We would love to come back! 😃
Hi, I Must tell you how much I have enjoyed your videos! I got hooked on your PCT thru hike and watched every episode. I have watched many other peoples hiking journeys but I found none measured up to yours. So I watched every episode for a second time! You have a wonderful camera eye. I was reluctant to watch your New Zealand videos because I felt like prying but you did a great job and thank you very much for the entertainment. Your hubby seems like a great person. My wife and I had our honeymoon back in 1965. Yes I am an ancient 74. Sorry to be longwinded. Have a wonderful life!
Hi "Bad Egg"! Thank you so very much for the kindest words and all of the support. That is amazing you and your wife have been married for so long. It is definitely admirable and something Owen and I hope to have one day.
I live in a mainland city near the Channel Islands national park. Whenever I go whale watching in the channel or go out to the islands, I love how huge pods of dolphins love to ride the wake of the boat. Once we got in the middle of a megapod of about 1000. Our channel is so much fun. Dolphins are so fun. What an awesome way to complete your New Zealand adventure than by being on the water with these amazing creatures. Thank you for sharing the beauties of New Zealand with us. I wish you and Owen great joy in your life together. What a phenomenal way to start. When you have a bad day or week or month together, you can rewatch these videos and reminisce and remember why you fell in love and the amazing adventure together you started by having wonderful honeymoon down under.
Thank you so so much for those nice words. It sure does mean a lot.
Precious Maui Dolphins, a gorgeous classic yacht and beautiful Akaroa. What a day! And, by the way, you two did scrub up rather impressively for your last evening in NZ. Having to travel separately was a bit tough, but next time..... Thank you for a delightful series and for supporting the New Zealand coffee industry (and of course our tourist industry) so diligently. Happy adventures back home. 🤗
Thank you for sharing your journey. I’ve enjoyed being a fly on the wall. You too seem really nice together even with the cell phone attached. Well captured and take care you two. Never ever forget this honeymoon and what you mean to each other.
Thank you very much.
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the future adventures of Jen and Captain Frederick.
Haha Captain Frederick!!
Poor Swanthony looked rather deflated by all the goodbyes 🤣 Thank you Jen for allowing us to travel along on your honeymoon, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I hope you guys had a safe pleasant trip back home and I'd like to think it's not the last time we see you back on our shores. Love and best wishes ✈️🙋♂️
Great Dad joke!! Haha and thank you for following along!!
What a great series, really enjoyed it. RIP Swanthony 🦢
RIP SWANTHONY!!!
Watching from self isolation this was like getting out of the house without getting out of the house. Thank you for sharing an bringing me back to a simpler time. Love all around!
Thank you so much! I am glad it could give you a slight break into what's happening in the world right now.
These videos are so relaxing and fun! I love all the adventurous things you two do!
Oh thank you, Victoria!
Looking forward to the next adventure
What an epic adventure and video series! Thanks for showing us New Zealand and for sharing so much of your trip. It was a blast!
Thanks, John!!

Thanks for taking the time to film. What a awesome honeymoon you both had. Thank you for sharing. Can't wait for your next adventure.
Thank you so much, Kathy!
Thank you for taking us with you! You sure didn’t have to, but I/we appreciate it. These have been great fun. The scenery and your adventures - amazing. Nicely done! xoxo 💜 🦙 🦙
Thank youuuu! :)
That was a perfect ending to a wonderful trip! Thanks so much for confirming having New Zealand on my bucket list is the right thing. I love sailing too and that boat was simply gorgeous and looked like one could single-hand it without much problem. Swanthany will make a lovely bit of art if placed in a frame and can remind you of a beautiful time in your life.
I'm still trying to get over the idea that after all the challenging things you've done, you are afraid of flying! LOL
Lovely of you both to share this time with us and hope to see more in the future, like what finally moving into the same place was like and any more adventures you tackle. ♥♥♥♥
THANK YOU 💜💜💜
I stumbled across your NZ vlogs on you tube by mistake 3 days ago.....I got hooked watching the first one & ended up watching all of them.... they were Awsome, well shot and good commentary on your behalf & very entertaining & different from other vlogs Ive watched, I’m from NZ and must say it was sad to watch your last vlog knowing you had to leave.... your husband....I like how in most of your vlogs he drinks his beer & he’s like “nice”.....he’s a keeper ....& very respectful & decent kinda bloke.....your both decent people and may you have many happy years together.....hopefully one day you can come back.....cheers guys.
Wow Dave, thank you so much for the kind comment!! I will pass this on to Owen.
I have enjoyed watching your honeymoon adventures so much! And, have been so impressed with your great photography/cinematography. I could feel what it a bit of what it would be like to be there. The scenery shots never felt rushed so that we could get a good look. You had bad weather starts, but the ending was spectacular! Thank you so much for sharing this and best wishes to you and Owen for the future. (I did watch your PCT hike after the fact ... well about a week until the end, so I binged the whole thing.) So, I look forward to seeing how your life unfolds from here.
Oh Sally, thank you for the kind words!! It’s been so fun sharing it all with everyone.
I have loved watching your NZ journey!! What a great one for the memory book! Congratulations again!!

Hi to both of you I have just watch the video of the last day of your honeymoon 22November ....which happens to be my birthday ( 85 th) I have followed you with interest since day one and have enjoyed every single day I am now a resident in NZ having from the UK 11 years ago and have visited many of the places where you spent time but have to admit have not experienced any of the activities which you encountered Thank you for sharing your honeymoon stories I look forward to watching more of your future daily doings ....Sincerely you are both well and settled back into routine
What a great honeymoon trip guys!!!
Thank you so much, John!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for sharing your adventures with me. I have thoroughly enjoyed every day and your final day sailing at Aklaroa was the cherry on top of the cake. A very relaxing sail, with lots of beautiful scenery rounded off the whole trip perfectly and it brought back so many memories of my younger days, sailing in the Hauraki,
(How-RAK- ee) Gulf. My first experience was beating against the wind with all the wet weather gear on and soooo noisy, but then we turned downwind and it was magical. The wind seemed to die away completely, the Sun's warmth returned and everything was calm and still. Perfect. I wish you both well in your future adventures and hope you keep a little piece of New Zealand in your hearts. Your excellent clips will be missed. Haere Ra, (Hi-ray- Rah) Whinsome Woman and Owen. May you have many happy years adventuring together.
Oh Dave, THANK YOU! You're making me all emotional reading your comment!
@@JenniferMabus You are most welcome. You have given me such an extensive view of my Country, that in my 85th year has become a distant memory of places seen and visited and I have felt I was in the car with you both and we experienced and felt all the adventures together EXCEPT FOR THE NEVIS SWING!!!!!!! That is a definite NO,NO.!.
Beautiful Scenery. Awesome
💜💜
I'm sad it's over but loved every video. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
Thank you for following along. 😀

TY to you both for taking us on this ride
Come back soon
Thanks for following along! Hope to see you soon on here as well. 💜
Thanks to you both for sharing your adventures with us all, it's been such a joy to follow along with you. I really felt for Owen getting sick with his allergies and then having to spend all that time on a plane to get back home, I hope it wasn't too miserable for him. I hope your bank accounts starting to recover now lol. All the very best to you both & I look forward to following along with any future videos you post. Also hope the disappointment of not being able to do the Tongariro Crossing has faded a little too. :)
Truth to the bank accounts! Hahah thank you so much for following along.
So loved seeing all you have done and re=-lived some of the things you did too. Thanks for sharing! So sad that you had to go back separately! Glad you don't have to do that now. Blessings!
Thank you, Anna!! We hope to go back one day.

Later....oh BTW...you looked ravishing on your last nite dinner date....CDT ? Great video work Jen !!
I appreciate it, Jimbo! And you might be correct. :)
Hi Starburst I just caught up with your channel again. You and Owen sure had a wonderful time in New Zealand. I am so happy that you were able to do it before the crazy virus shut down our world.
Oh us, too!!!
A fun and beautiful last day. No rain, lol. Did you get pooped on? Keep adventuring. Looking forward to seeing your new adventure, your next thru hike.
No poop thank goodness hahah not that I know of at least! Thank you, Gayle!!
Wow, grand finale! I loved the sailboat ride and what a nice area that was. So sad it's over but I enjoyed every episode. I don't understand the part about leaving separately, but I hope you got to fly together. What's next? Can't wait!
Thank you so much! And I do have some fun plans coming ahead. :)
Sad to see the end of your honeymoon, sadder to know that you and Owen have to be apart for the time being, but thats the reality of being with a service man. A truly hope your separation is brief. Looking forward to many more of your life journeys. Take care, stay safe and burn up the phone lines.
Thank you so much, John!!
New Zealand looks like a place we must go.
So beautiful!
Nice video, good shots, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for letting us follow your trip. It’s been great, as always . What a fantastic island, I think I need to put it on my list of places to go. Great scenery and you managed to do a lot in the three weeks. You truly make a great couple and I hope you both have a long, and happy marriage. Just one question though, why do you and Owen have to travel separately?
New Zealand is such a great place to travel! (And I'm sure live.) But at the time, I was still living in Seattle and Owen was living in Virginia. None of the flights we could find could get us to the States together to then branch off to our respective cities. :(
Relaxing sailing with dolphins and close to the rock walls. A luminous couple's dinner, but in spite of everything, a feeling of sadness or melancholy is planned in the atmosphere because it is the end of this great trip, or maybe because of the separation.
Had Owen really never sailed before?
Probably the separation! And Owen really never sailed before. 😃
Very Nice. My wife and I did a sunset sailboat cruise in Key West in January it was awesome.
It’s so peaceful and relaxing.
What a wonderful day
I love sailing. But afraid of water.
I'm surprised you are afraid to fly, after all that you have done.
I really don't like to fly for some reason haha
Did you guys manage to catch up with others from your country?
Nice guide thank you
💜💜
The Whimsical Woman can we know about the next country
That alarm is calling for the volunteers fire department. They get called for fires car crashes medical emergencies
We learned all this after we got home. That’s so fascinating! I bet it works too lol
You might find the following note interesting in retrospect
"Although Akaroa was never a shore whaling station, four try pots in the town are reminders that whaling played a key role in the establishment of Akaroa as a European town. These try pots were brought into Akaroa in the early 20th century. The three which are now set in brick close to the French landing site were placed first, in about 1913, near the base of Dalys Wharf . . . . These try pots were moved to their present location in 1970." A Report Prepared for : KerinDavis-Miller Planner, City Plan Team Christchurch City Council, Juei 2009

So fascinating
Bringing back some tough memories... I did 22 years in the Navy and had to temporarily separate on a few occasions for 6 months or more from my wife and daughter’s. But, it can make the relationship stronger and time will pass quicker than you think. Luv u guys~
Thank you so much for sharing!! It’s always hard but obviously worth it. 💜
OK ! You two are no longer honeymooning in New Zealand. You are citizens of New Zealand since you have been there for so long.
Danny Richardson We would be honored!! 😅
Swanthony 😭😭😭
Right!? 😭😭
Got to represent that first comment.
Owen Frederick That’s right. Gotta represent.
The rest of us have to wait to see the video before commenting...
@@franrd4254 about what ?
@@Jimbo-pm1dp The answer was for Owen, he always makes the first comment to the videos
Certainly not the ending I expected. I mean spending the day running over dolphins with a boat and then killing swanthany with the largest knife in New Zealand and then dropping Owen of at the airport and sending him away like he was some type of a rental husband and then you torture yourself for 1 1/2 days in an airplane.
Great videos that when put together played like a symphony and burned into our eyes what adventure in New Zealand can be all about with a little dash of love sprinkled in and about and here and there.
Hahaha Scott. 🤣🤣
But thank you so very much!! It was quite the adventure.
