  • We had the BEST DAY in Akaroa exploring the town and visiting the Shamarra Alpaca Farm. We will definitely be making a trip back to Akaroa to see more of the lovely town and visit the Alpacas again!
Here is the link to the alpaca farm:

Hello! My name is Katie Eisenmenger (pronounced eyes-en-ming-er) and my husband, Keaton, and I are moving from Nebraska, USA to Christchurch, New Zealand! I wanted to make this page as a way to document this wild journey. I would absolutely love to connect with anyone that is also making the move to NZ or any Kiwis that can offer some advice along the way! As the beginning of our last name is pronounced "eyes" I thought "Eis On New Zealand" would be the perfect channel name. I can't wait to document this journey for our memories and to also share it with all of you! 😄 Feel free to follow me on instagram @katiekeis_ 🥰

The drive to Lyttelton through the tunnel is a fun drive if you haven't done it already. It's not too far to drive to Methven and go up to the snow at at Mt Hutt or some of the smaller club feilds.

The silo stay was one of the lovely gift I got for my birthday just before Covid Struck. Clever design I must say.

There is a bed and breakfast place in Akaroa called the Giant's House. Outside there are mosaic sculptures everywhere. Pretty amazing. I also love alpacas. They are so cute. 🙂

Hi guys! I can't remember if I introduced myself previously but I've seen a couple of your videos now. I was born in Scotland and have lived in England since 2004 but I grew up in Christchurch. To me Akaroa harbour is associated with good memories from childhood, especially summer holidays. Staying at a YMCA summer camp in Wainui was a highlight. When it gets closer to summer you should definitely go swimming with the dolphins! The model giraffes and the alpacas were new to me, thank you for sharing! As you get used to your new home you will realise the South Island is an absolutely epic place for road trips and that Christchurch (as beautiful as I think it is) is the least photogenic place on the whole island. Stepping out of a rainforest onto a glacier is an experience! So is same day skiing and surfing. Have you visted Queenstown yet? It's literally breathtaking!

Lovely to meet you! We have a few friends in Scotland and hope to visit there one day.
It’s so sweet to hear that you have such fond memories in Akaroa. We are already ready to go back.
A trip further south is being planned as soon as Keaton can take some time off of work! So no, we haven’t been to Queenstown yet, but it is on the list!!

I love how much you are appreciating the beauty of the Canterbury area, sometimes we all take for granted how nice it is because we all know just how stunning the views are further south around Mt Cook, Tekapo, Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wanaka, there are just so many beautiful lakes and fiords etc.
You will probably get asked a lot about whether you have visited them as these tend to be all the areas that most overseas tourists come here to visit.
It's so nice that you have so many more adventures to look forward to 😉
I also have many fond childhood memories of spending school holidays in the Akaroa area. I took my kids on the same Akaroa trip a few months ago, followed by a visit to Little River and Sumner Beach, but minus the Alpacas and the children's walk 😯
Thank you for helping show us locals the bits we having been missing! 🤭

I am so happy that I found your channel! I am absolutely in love with your videos. It’s wonderful to be able to get insight on life after migrating to Aotearoa 😊. It looks like you guys are having a blast! Those alpacas are so adorable! I wouldn’t even consider visiting an alpaca farm, but now I can’t wait. Do they sell yarn at that farm?
    Keep it up guys! ❤️

I do not currently have the right to work in NZ, so Keaton is the only one with a job at the moment. We have submitted our second visa and that will allow me to work
