  • Hello cockatiel lovers,
My latest video is an updated cockatiel cage set up video. I felt we needed to do a new one as the set up since my last one has changed and many things have been adapted or altered.
We would like to give a big thanks to Northern Parrots to providing many of the toys we popped in both this cage and the conures.
We are much happier with these Yaheetech cages and you can find them in my Amazon store via the link below.
As usual, any comments, feel free!

Your Cockatiels are quite spoilt aren’t they, I love how big your cage with the variety of toys they can pick from!

I bought this same brand recently before I got my second cockatiel. I'm very happy with it as well. Very sturdy and reasonably priced!

You and Sophie have converted me to using Easichick substrate, my two conures love it. The youngest conure has really taken to nibbling it.

With regard to food and water, our cockatiel (Buckbeak), seems to enjoy making a mess in the floor. I have moved the feed dish to the bottom of the cage, which greatly improved the situation. At the risk of over-thinking things, are there any negatives to this approach? Just keeping the best interest of the animal in mind. Great video, thanks for posting!

Cockatiels can be pretty messy and throw food around, it’s a fairly common parrot trait.
They are also natural ground feeders in the wild so provided he’s using it, it should be ok.
The risk is obviously stuff you don’t want getting in there or him not eating from it.
You could consider a foraging tray or bowl at the bottom too!

How bad are the liberta cages?
I'm looking to change from a yahetech flight cage because its falling apart after 4 years and 2 of the castors have snapped off.

So we used to recommend the Libertas but honestly they aren’t ideal. If they actually updated the Oregon design it’d be fine but it’s an old design and for the money no where near as good value as the yaheetech ones we use!

What's the stuff on the bottom floor of the cage called?

It’s a substrate called easichick! You can learn more about it in my videos about substrate if you’re interested in using it or something similar!

Was you able to take the bars out of the bottom and just use the pull out tray

    • @TheParrotTeacher
      @TheParrotTeacher  7 місяців тому +1

Yup! The tray fits in snugly without the bars! It’s another thing we like about this particular cage.

It's just I've been looking at upgrading my cockatiel cage to a yeheetech not the same model as yours and I just wanted to know how easy it is to remove the bars

Do you know if terrarium cork bark is okay in a bird cage? I'm currently decorating my canary's new cage. I've soaked the bark in F10. It gives a lovely naturalistic vibe along with faux plants, which I assume are okay as he can't chew on them like a parrot would. It's so pretty 😊

If there’s no lychen on it and it’s clean it should be ok!

@@TheParrotTeacher There is a little bit of white stuff. Is lychen dangerous?
