My cockatiel has always made this little chirp/click sound (like some car keys make when you push a button “beep beep” ) whenever he’s really happy. The best way I can explain it is as if he has too much happiness and it starts to bubble out of him. It’s really cute! he does it when I’m putting him to bed too!
I’ve never heard anything like it from another bird?
all I know is that he does it ALWAYS when he’s happy and feels safe.

I don't know why I find it so funny when you put your hands off screen and the birds fly off. It's like your just done with them and throwing them away
Haha it's mostly so they don't get bored sitting on me. I can usually feel when they are fussy on my hands. I usually have their playstand just off camera so they can go on there too!

separate times each, my male and female cockatiels "heartwinged" at me about 10 minutes before they passed away, both from states of paralytic lethargy. its the first and only time my old female has ever done that, and she did it more than once in that moment. its an affectionate display.

Today my cockatiel missed where to land, landed on the floor instead and sat there saying " *HH! HH! HH!* " to everyone until I came to the rescue. Funny how different the hisses can be between individuals
lol they were just like "only you may pick me up/help me!"
@@TheParrotTeacher Haha, even with me trying to help Pico to step up from the accidental landing spot, all I got was a disapproving stare, a lot of flapping of wings and a reluctant but necessary step-up onto my hand, only to fly somewhere higher up. That happened to be on top of the curtain. Pico then flew back down onto the cage roof :D

I just realized that my bird wasn't angry or making biting motions today, but she was territorial! She barked :o I put a toy in their cage that they appeared to be quite scared of and Mango barked at it twice before going as far away from it as possible on the perch she was on. I removed the toy and they both calmed down again. Guess they have to become a bit more brave first!
You could work on some desensitisation with them! Have the toy visible to them outside of the cage for a while. Bring it closer to the point they get mildly worried then wait for calm and remove it.
You could also try to direct them to it with targeting or reward interactions with it!
@@TheParrotTeacher Thanks for the advise! I've put it on the table outside their cage, about a meter away from them. I'll try bringing it a bit closer of have it lean against the bars on the outside perhaps in time. Today I gave them treats through the bars, but I can't figure out if that's a big no-no or if that's an okay way to get to know each other (it was my first interaction with them that they didn't shy away from me). Cause one of the two sort of made biting motions towards the bars and then took some food, then repeated that. She also made biting motions for the first time today as I gave them new food

So i got my cockatiel like 2 days ago from a pet store. And the top body languages I see are barking, chattering her beak. And just resting closing her eyes. She does bite here and there but that my bird for ya.
Thank you for the information in your video, I always wondered why my bird liked to go in the corners between me and the sofa, or behind pillows, always to hide and moving around chirping and trying to pull the fabric from sofa, blanket or whatever he had to his reach also like shredding paper, so it’s a hormonal behavior!!
I thought maybe it wasn’t a male because it looked like he wanted to make a nest, but being so old I know he never lay an egg, so confusing behaviors . Now I know I will not allowed him to do it anymore, he can get use to doing things easily if I let him.

Hi David! I would appreciate some advice, but I did just type out a wall of text, sorry about that! I think I got a general idea of my cockatiels' bodylanguage and speech in this case, but since it's a delicate and a crucial moment (they're meeting for the first time) and there are so many ways to interpret their behavior, I would love to hear your view on this.
We've now got 2 male cockatiels (the female went to a home that suits her needs and general character a lot better :) ). Mango is almost 1 year old, Moki is 2 years old (if the previous owner wasn't lied to by the pet shop). After 1,5 months in the same room in their own cages, I introduced the males face to face outside of their cages for the first time. What happened was:
They both INSTANTLY started beak snapping (I think?) simultaneously. It was a very clear and conscious behavior from both of them from the moment they were close. It sounds like clicking and they lick the inside of their beak just like in your video. It's just louder, it seems. Mango soon stopped and cuddled up a bit intrusively; putting his head on Moki's chest (hoping to get preened?) and using his head to pet moki's chest and side (almost like a cat would do when they like something). Moki continued beak snapping and started to sing a song he's been singing whenever Mango came close to his cage while they still wouldn't be allowed out at the same time. He continued the beak snapping all through this encounter and sometimes poked softly at Mango's crest. Not preening, but more like... poking but not aggressively. Mango also poked at Moki's wings (the previous owner clipped the poor guy way to rigorously, so it might be just curiosity at the odd shape?). I then separated them once they had about 2 minutes to meet, just to be sure it was a short and positive experience, rewarding with millet afterwards.
Mango used to bow his head towards Miiku (the female) and eventually got aggressive towards her because she refused to preen her. He'd do his flirting dance and song, but when she got close he started plucking her crest feathers... I really do not want Moki and Mango ending up in a similar relationship.
My interpretation is that the first meeting was exciting for both. A bit more so for Moki (maybe because he's only been in our home for 2 months and this room for 1,5 months and Mango has spent almost his entire life here (about a year). Mango appears to be incredibly loving and cuddly in nature, but he's also pushy about it and if he doesn't get what he wants after a few weeks of trying he'll get a grudge. I've got the feeling not all birds enjoy that pushy cuddliness and that's where I'm afraid they'll have some conflict.
Any advice would be helpful! If I'm on the right track, a confirmation is also helpful. If you've got some different interpretations I'm open to hear them and see if I can use that information on the next sessions :) If you think I ought to approach this differently that's also something I would want to hear. It's an absolute joy to see them finally together! I intend to do one short session a day for now, with the both of them out of their cage. Then we'll see how this all develops :) Very exciting for us too! Moki's singing happily now after the encounter, it seems positive so far.
So it does sound like they were excited and curious about each other. They could also have been a little warning in there too.
But as first meetings go that’s a positive one. Letting them out together and supervising is going to be key for initial interactions as well as doing formal bonding work ( I have videos on introducing and housing birds together)
Stuff like communal training, foraging and interactions are all useful!

But re-checking your video I found they are in fact territorial; tongue clicking and heart wings. They also bob their head up and down but in a very slow and elaborate way from bending down to raising up their entire body. Seems they want to be close to each other to show who's boss or perhaps to get to know the pecking order? They also sang simultaneously. The same tune, once one started, the other joined in. Getting very mixed interactions here I think, what could that be? We're going to use your other video on bonding 2 birds (I already made notes!) as we go along. Thanks for all your help out here!
Sometimes cockatiels will do this to each other to “impress” the other! Other times it can be territorial! It’s worth observing and working on the bonding activities!
Head bowing can sometimes be a form of aggression for my bird. If he (she) is in a bad mood, which he makes obvious, sometimes he will bow his head then bite as soon as you move your hand closer. I have learnt to avoid this now though.
It can sometimes be part of an aggressive move, usually with an open maw though. It's a little different from affectionate head bowing!
@@TheParrotTeacher it looks exactly like a normal head bow but is quickly followed with a maw. I believe I might have seen this behaviour explained in a different video but I can't remember which one unfortunately, I will try to find it.
Edit: I found it! 16.20, bird tricks, parrot body language 101. My bird basically does something similar to that but not always the exact same, he has variants of it.

My Cockatiel bows her head to be rubbed. She even guides our hand where she wants to be rubbed. Very needy and affectionate.
I just got my tiels today, they're still really scared but i hope it will get better soon.
It can take them a little time to settle in! Giving them space, working on passive bonding and just letting them get used to you and your house is so useful!

hello thank you so much for your videos they are so in depth and informative, whilst still remaining put simply enough to understand with ease, i a m new to cockatiels. i havent had a bunch of experience with birds in general but i did inherit so to speak, lol , budgies a bonded male pair first birds ever, and with in a year and a half they passed away, heartbroken, but my babies i had got cuz i loved my tiny feather babies and couldnt take the silence with out em, but i had but them in the corner of my kitchen and they had the floor to the celing with toys to climb and play on and under the table they had the whole house too but the cage was there in the corner and they loved it there i had my window set up for them well their window lol in their corner , my little guy saw string thought i had noodles, loved noodles lol, so i made went to make him some since he was pissed i had string instead of his noodles lol, unfortunately , i didnt know that pans are deadly to them and i believe birds in general, tephlon, i had heard not good for them but i didnt realize how fast or how deadly devaastating it is i also did not keep them locked in the cage unless i was doing something that could be dangerous for them, like when landed in water for disinfecting baby bath toys ect, my son had been very ill and i ment to stand there and cook the noodles normally like 3 min cuz barely put any water in the pan , but my son started throwing up really bad he was only 2 and half three , so i was so worried about making sure he was ok, cuz it was litterally stopping his breath and started to choke, i spaced the damn noodles on the stove and burned the pan sooooo bad i had assumed also since the were not loked or evern in the cage and they were swinning and playing on their baskets and swings i opened alll the windows and assumed if it was bothering them they would fly to living room or wherever they wanted to go as they were familure with the entire house and i moved them regularly so they would feel secure all ovber instead of just by cage or in that corner , well i was so wrong and i cry at least 4 to 5 times a week still i loved them so much my first baby baby when he learned to fly was so soooo amazing hed yell for me and jump to me, one of the best things i have expierienced with any animal, or heck, really ever, had horses that cost thousands of dollars growing up and swear i loved my little 25 dollar baby budgie prob more yeah definitely hate to admit it out loud cuz i love my horses too ( so we wont tell anyone k lol) but is it unsafe for all birds i walked in and both my babies were gone stiff on the floor worst case scenario, still cant forgive myself but my daughter just suprised me with a baby cockatiel its my third day she i think is on my shoulder and fluffed up and grinding away now as i speak she came to me on her own and now seems like she not gonna let me go clean lol thats fine i love it but she is soooo curious and smart and i love that she came to me so fast none of my others did not like this not wanted me and let me know she gonna be a mommas girl and thank you sorry for the book your videos are going to be my momma guide cuz i can tell you do this out of love and with experiencethank you sooo much
I'm sorry to hear about your budgies, they are awesome little creatures. Congrats on your baby cockatiel!
What happened was a tragic accident, but it sounds like you didn't choose to buy them and still took the time to learn about how to keep them safe and tried to give them a good life. Taking care of animals that cannot communicate in a common language will always carry the risk of missing signals that something serious is wrong; as long as you do all that can be reasonably expected, beating yourself will accomplish nothing useful. Yeah, you knew about the nonstick pans, but you also had a violently ill child and were still trying to prepare a treat for the birds that the birds enjoyed.
If you can afford to get rid of any nonstick pans you currently have, a well-seasoned, cast-iron pan works just as well (or better, in all honesty, especially if you get it hot before adding anything you want seared and can resist the temptation to flip stuff before it is ready) and will likely last much, much longer. If a friend or family member created a comparable situation that led to my death, I wouldn't want them to carry around guilt for what they did. An alarmingly high fraction of humans look at smaller animals as being practically disposable; the fact that you still feel guilty would indicate to me that you are a better person than most.
Your video was super helpful!! I have had my male cockateil for a week. He is apparently around 2 yrs old. He loves singing, preening and sleeping on everyone's shoulders. He also loves head scratches. He does a very strange head/neck twirling, spinning, jerking motion, that u didn't mention in ur video. We have had a few cockateils over the years and never seen this behaviour. We are his 3rd home, but he did this in the 2nd home lady said. Thoughts on what it might be? I read that 'head snaking' is a possibility. He is happy and healthy otherwise😊
It could be head shaking! It could be an aquired behaviour that he’s accidentally been reinforced for! It could be a frustration thing!
@@TheParrotTeacher it's not head shaking as u showed in ur video. It's definitely more of a circling, jerking movement, very fast. Might be frustrated as he does it more while in the cage, less when he is out. Thank you!

Yes it can! Scratching towards the bottom of the cheek can also trigger crop clearing too!
My tiel does a snort of derision with a head shake when she doesn't like something. It sounds more like a sneeze.

Did you have why they hang upside down with their wings and tail feathers spread out, looks like they are head banging, crest is all up too. Seems to be something my female is doing a lot of lately.
Some tiels do that for exercise and to stretch their wings out! Others do it to encourage air bathing! I’ve also heard it’s an over excitement thing.
Sadly it’s not consistent enough across lots of cockatiels to pin point it exactly!

Thank you! There is definitely potential for that. Cockatiels and conures can get on, especially if you plan to cage them separately.
During consultations we usually say "you can always at least achieve tolerance between two parrots with enough training/bonding work!"
Sometimes parrots will get on very quickly, other times it's hatred so you need to be prepared for either outcome and to adjust training/effort accordingly!

QUESTION:
I'd like to give you a quick background first...
I brought home a Cockatiel and Budgie in Feb 2022. 9 mos later we lost the budgie to what I think was an accident (can't be to sure bc I found her on the dining room floor with the Cockatiel looking down at her from the top of his cage) My question is now that my male Cockatiel has been on his own for almost 3 mos now...should I get him a friend and if so, what kind. I'm not sure if he's lonely or if he enjoys being alone. He's very trusting towards me, not my husband lol. Should I be worried that he'll get jealous if I bring another Cockatiel home. 🤷🏻♀️ I just don't know what to do. I wish he would just tell me lol.
Some of his new behavior is pacing from one mirror to the other and making noise when tapping the mirror. He does enjoy when I put Cockatiel noises on UA-cam and he can watch. He looks for them behind my computer 😂 Any input is greatly appreciated.
Hey there,
Generally parrots do benefit from a friend of their own species, or another parrot of similar size and temperament. So in that regard it could be good for your little guy to have someone, especially if he was used to having a companion.
There's nothing to say that he can't be happy with just you and your husband (especially if he put in more training/bonding work with the little guy) as you guys effectively become his flock.
If you do bring another bird home, it's best to be cautious about it. Take some steps before introducing them to one another and also be prepared in case it doesn't work and they don't get on. sometimes it takes training and time to bond up parrots! (other times it goes perfectly, or other extreme times it's ultra hard)

I'd be cautious of mirrors too, they can lead to frustration and hormonal behaviour (especially if he's coming into birdie "puberty"

@@traarias6223 if it’s just once in a while outside of the cage then I wouldn’t worry too much unless it causes any aggression or frustration, it’s mostly in the cage that’s an issue!

I'm glad the videos are useful!
Regarding the cat, I would be very cautious about it. You see some videos online of parrots and cats/dogs interacting but they never show you the bad side (which happens lots more often as we end up hearing about it)
I'd try to keep the cat separate from them initially entirely as they will likely be nervous in the new home and need to get used to you and the environment.
I'd then introduce the furry guy slowly so they can get used to them being around and around the cage. I'd try to avoid having the cockatiels out when the cat is about as all it takes is one accident for disaster.
Hi, I’m in love with your videos, they are so productive and helpful, I recently got myself a female cockatiel alone, from my friends house, when she came she was always scared and whenever I put my hand near the cage she would move to the other side, she doesn’t do that now, but she is still scared she makes quite the whining noises as when you breathe quickly while crying, she used to come out when u played bird cockatiel noises on my iPad but suddenly she stopped coming out of the cage and would start spending her time in there, she didn’t really have a balanced diet when she was with my friends as she was only given dried millet and water, if it isn’t a problem could you explain this behaviour and and balanced diets for her?

Thanks for the kind comment.
Her behaviour is a tough one to explain in a comment reply. It could be because she feels nervous coming out, or that she just feels more comfortable in there. It's also because she is likely not motivated to come out or to you due to her diet.
Regarding diet. You want to give her a balanced diet including fresh and whole foods (vegetables, sprouted seeds, some seed, herbs etc)
I have lots of videos on the topic including a diet playlist and my partner Sophie also has videos on how to sprout and encourage eating of vegetables. If she is only used to eating millet diet conversion will likely take some time!
I'd also work on basic bonding techniques like passive bonding and attempt target training with her!

Regarding diet , to successfully change a seed only bird try the following .
No more than 1 / 2 teaspoon of their favourite seed in the bottom of a ceramic bowl or saucer .
Fine chopped raw vegies on top , maybe a desert spoon quantity . ( no onion , tomato or avocado )
The same quantity of quality crumble pellet on top .
Ad lib crumble and clean water elsewhere in the cage .
My ' teil responded very well to me being at eye level to his food bowl and lots of praise when he attempted the new diet .
He is a voracious pellet and vegie eater now , quite satisfying .
Cockatiels are very smart and endearing birds !
So I just got a female (seemingly and was said to be 4 months old) and she’s very friendly. She jumps straight onto my hand to get taken out of the cage and jumps straight up to my shoulder. However, she’ll make these low short sounds when playing with my hair or just sitting closer to me. I don’t think they’ve been handled in either video. But they could be the velociraptor sounds?

Sadly without hearing the sound I'm not sure I could specifically pinpoint it. Usually that kind of sound falls under the "baby noise"

Thanks for the info. I just got my tiel a week ago and when I feed her millet she occasionally hisses at me. After she realises the millets there she goes straight to eating and isn’t annoyed or aggressive at all. Just curious, when she hisses should I still slowly give her millet? Or would it be better to just leave her.
I think you should still give it to her if she accepts it and doesn't back away.
I'm going to be doing an updated video specifically on hissing soon as it's not quite as cut/dry as "back off immediately" like I think I mention in this video.
Hissing is usually a warning sound, but doesn't always mean you need to stop unless they start rocking or look scared.

Hi!! Bought another Cockatiel been trying to get a male but wasn’t to sure of the gender. I already have 2 females . The one I got just a baby but I have a weird feeling it’s a female. So far it’s been okay just wanted a male cause love the way how they sing a lot still thinking what to name it.☺️

My cockatiel started doing this since day 2. And also every time I change the food or clean the cage(I try moving slowly and showing the food from a distance while doing this!!) it starts moving around so nervously(crest is down and the feathers are not fluffy) and when the new food is placed in the old spot and I move away from the cage it goes sitting on the edge of the food container and makes itself fluffy on top of the seeds?! Is it this a good sign or a bad sign? How can I make it less miserable for it every time the food needs to be refilled?
Hey there,
So the "heart wings" tends to be a territorial, display or content behaviour. But in this context it's usually paired with singing or marching around.
If your cockatiel is rocking, hissing, spreading their wings and retreating it's more likely to be a fear response (trying to look big) I think there's an example in my other cockatiel sounds and behaviour videos!
Don't forget you've only just brought your little buddy home, so they are likely very nervous and still trying to work out what's going on with you! To you, it's your home and it's safe+ you know you're awesome, but they don't.
It can take a bit of time for them to settle in and I have some good tips in my cockatiel bonding videos.
Sitting on top of the food bowl is also fairly common, they are staying close to their food and fluffing up to relax!
@@TheParrotTeacher I have 2 parakeets and 2 cockatiels. I've had one cockatiel for 2 years and I bought a new young a few months ago. They all open their mouth to want to bite me, my wife and my son. They all fly away when we put their water and food in.

I know it's difficult to establish a bird's gender when they are babies but, I have learned that MY perceptions and actions serve a better purpose by referring to my bird as he/she or the bird's name. "It" is a tad cold. Best wishes for you and your new baby.

She is so anxious when i change her water or when i go closer to the cage im scared ill do something wrong and scare her more how can i make her like me more? I read i should leave her for couple days to get used to the room and then try feed her by hand but im scared she will be more scared :
Firstly don’t be too hard on yourself! It’s awesome you are putting her first and being pro active!

Taking a bit of time is useful, but essentials still have to be done so don’t worry if she’s worried. You can start with passive bonding and letting her settle in!

It’s difficult hearing what you are saying over your beautiful birds’ sounds. Is there any way you could make a video with the same information only without your birds so close to the speaker. The sound demonstrations are excellent. It’s very easy to hear the vocalizations for the different types of calls. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge about Cockatiels.

Sadly we are a bit restricted due to our set up and finances! We can’t afford the expensive 🎤 equipment that other UA-camrs use and have to film in the same room as the birds!

Hi my name is Rosemary till I've had her for about 5-years and I've just noticed the other day actually had like a describe it and it had a sin feather give her a bath the feather has now gone but the lump is still there could just be a swelling could you possibly give me some a bit worried that be something sinister

It's likely just swelling or a minor infection. However I am not a vet and if you have any concerns you should consult your closest avian vet.
I have two cockatiels a male and female tho i don't know which ones which i got them about a week ago they are doing better first they were very scared and nervous but now one of them is doing way better it even sat on my hand when i was giving it treats but i have noticed that he/she is making screaming noises at the other one which is still very scared and nervous.
It could be a jealousy thing or just baby noises! It’d be best to keep working on bonding with them both and treating still!
I watched tons of videos of some sounds cockatiels make but I never found one where one "laughs". My Yuki occasionally looks outside and makes these laughing sounds. She did it more when I first got her but still does it sometimes. Does anyone what that means? (She is a girl and never imitated something or someone)

My cockatiel cockatiel coco is scared when I get near by his cage, I see her breathing shaky and she does hisses when my fingers get close to her but when I hold her food in a tiny cup she comfortably approaches to eat and sits on it while I’m holding her. I’ve had her about a month now and I’ve been opening up her cage to encourage her to get out and explore and get use to her environment and she does fly out on her own and finds her way back to her cage but sometimes to far where she finds a corner and stays due to fear I believe , today is the first day she comes very close to me and comes to my phone to because she’s curious but if my hand gets close she walks away quickly, I know she has to make the first move to come to my fingers to be carried . im just wondering if I’m doing good and will it get better over time with what I’m doing
She’s super fearful and I’m trying to help let her know she is safe
It’s good you’re taking your time with CoCo ! It might be worth trying some target training with her through the bars along with giving her fave treats through them whenever you can!

There could be a few reasons behind that. Your tiel may prefer your partner, you may do it in a different way to them, he may not like something on your hands (sometimes jewellery, nail polish or creams can be disliked)
My teil will sometimes go to bottom of the cage and then go back and forth sometimes with vocals sometimes without. What does it mean?
That could mean a couple of things!
It could be he wants out or attention or it could be excitement/hormones!

The best ways are usually:
Making sure the cage is as big as possible. Sometimes parrots hate going inside them as they just feel cramped.
Treating the cage like it's her bedroom not a cage. So that means what kinds of things can you put in there to make it fun. Stuff like foraging opportunities, shreddable toys, fun toys, lots of perches.
Ensuring that you always reward her for going in can help too. Sometimes it's easy to just rush our parrots into their cages, but it needs to be positive!
Thanks for the feedback the cage itself is a flight cage and there are a ton of shredding toys so it must be for another reason I’ll try positive reinforcement for being in her cage thanks again

It may be worth encouraging and trying to train your little one to actively play with the toys.
Also it could just be that being out is more fun. So the positive reinforcement for going in plus making sure you take time when they are due to go in should help!
I’m new with cockatiels had love birds in the past and they are very fightsy. I have a 3 month old girl who was hand raised likes being on my shoulder but if I want to take her off she goes on my back and may bite a bit harder then I like. Positive reinforcement mostly and a reliable step up! She wants to be up there you need to offer her something worthwhile to want to get off!
Yes, thank you that is hard when she is in the middle of my back without being twisted 😅but I get it thank you. Getting better by the day and stays on shoulder.
My female cockatiel recently making a sound that I can't find it on the UA-cam with "sound meaning". It is like a 1 second long monotone none stop repeating sound. She will make it for like two to three minutes until her voice a bit cracked, then rest and then repeat. Kind of drive me crazy a bit now. It is has like this for two weeks.

Sure do! When cockatiel's preen they sometimes accidentally pull at a sensitive feather (especially when moulting) so they react and usually squeak!

Cockatiels seem to have actual different facial expressions from one another.
How do you mean? I do notice differences in some ways !

My tiels for instance ....lala, has curious eyes and seems to be always smiling , constantly hanging upside down , loves whistling in tandem with me, talking and is at least 20 percent larger and is a pied , while Gene , white faced, is more cautious and aware with his eyes but is talkative and also loves to whistle , but more needy.. Same situation , but their facial expressions are different. They have different resting faces. They are different, ergo , their facial expressions are significantly different. Their amazing Lala is about a year and 1/2 while Gene is a little older.
My budgies and weirdos r asleep right now. It's so cool, they could sleep anywhere in my room , but they all sleep bunched up , within inches of each other, at the foot of my bed on the mid level branches. I built them a faux tree. They never get mad or fight with each other. Although Gene , on occasion will chase the budgies around when he gets jealous. (He is such a special bird . He is extremely complicated. He was the runt , w/ one side of his flight feather missing , and was always winking. I thought it may have been a problem. It wasn't. Where as in with lala , he is like this " huge' tiel, perfect and confident as a tiel can appear.) That is until they stand up to him. Budgies can be brave. And they seem to be able to cooperate to cause mischief for the teils . It's so funny. I really got lucky with these little guys. I try and let them choose me.

So Chip barks once which is a territorial sound but the other sounds are just common flock call/contact calls!
I'd say they are neutral sound wise as all cockatiels make them!

My (female, i guess) cockatiel is comfortable being by my side and has no problem standing on me but whenever i try to touch her she would nibble on my finger and makes soft chirps that are not addressed in this video. I wonder what that means (keep in mind i adopted her abt a week ago)

She's basically warning you that she doesn't want to be touched. You've only just brought her into your home so it's no surprise she's a little hesitant to be touched.
In some ways it shows a degree of trust that she doesn't outright bite you as many cockatiels would! If you'd like to learn how to build tolerance in her for touching I have a video on "how to pet and cuddle your bird" that would be worth watching!

You don’t generally!
We only recommend loose potty training as anything else can cause them harm if they hold it in!

But it is a common thing. It's because you're basically part of his flock and he's calling to you because he wants to know where you are/be close to you!
What does it mean if they're constantly moving their beaks on the cage bar?
That could mean lots of different things which I know doesn’t help.
Most commonly it’s because something is stuck in the beak, stress behaviour, excitement or feeling bored !

I just got my tiel 4 or 5 weeks ago. From the information i gatherd shes was hand rased. She's only 3 to 4 months old so shes still baby screaming. When do they stop baby screaming, when do they normally grow out of screaming i know they really dont but any idea would help calm my mind cause she does it every time i get near her cage. She sleeps next to me like her cage is on my night stand. Which i dont think is the problem. She gets on my shoulders even my head and arms. So shes not angry or i don't think she dislikes me. I feed her pellets and millet with corn and other greens. So diet is fine cause i hand feed her/ see her eat it so IDK. Im loseing my mind why she keeps baby screaming!
She also does it out of the cage so... i love her i just want to know why is she doing it. Based on the video you say food or wanting attention. So if her diet is fine then how do you stop her from acting this way. What do i say or do?
So baby noises can go on into adult hood. Some tiels use them to get attention too especially when it is reinforced with attention or treats.
When you say diet is fine, what kinds of pellet do you use?
Millet is also fine but generally it’s better as a treat food.

@@TheParrotTeacher thank you so much for responding cuase helps know i can get some help. Feed her "ZuPreem Smart selects" and a nother one is natural thats all for pellets. Then i feed her two times a day corn and peas with carrot she eats them two. More corn then others but thats normal cause most birds love corn. All vegetables i feed are organic. Yah Millet she goes crazy for and even stops the baby cries for it. knowing this i dont know what to do. Should i stop feeding her it for some time or do i give her small amounts. Im also scared cause i dont want her to pluck her feathers by not giveing her adtention or millet. Yah i have been seeing your videos to help me out and it has. So thank you! But yah this is my frist cockatiel i just dont want to F it up.

Regarding the millet I’d definitely reserve it for foraging, training and interacting with you.

Clicking is usually a territorial, attention seeking or excited behaviour.
Mine will hold in his poop while I’m gone to work. He then unloads when I get home. I’m worried it’s not healthy but it’s been going for years. Thoughts?
It’s definitely not healthy, holding in poop can cause all kinds of issues over time.
It may be good to encourage him to go in other situations or do some training around it.

It sounds like you need to do some bonding work with the little guy. I have lots of videos on training and bonding, including one specifically about cockatiels!
I'd work on passive interactions, target training and just giving him treats for now (Watch the bonding with cockatiel video/target training videos to get started!)

If he’s in your house then patience and reinforcement. If he’s escaped and flown away then you’ll need to look for him !
Mine flew away from his cage, I found him and put his cage next to him, and left him to get in himself, it worked, I let him out a lot I think he got lost in the house, I still let him in out and since then doesn’t fly away so far
i have a cockatiel its pretty young i think like 6 months at least, i had him or her (not sure yet!) for over a week and its eating from my hand, is free in the room and sits on the wardrobe the most. when he or she wants food he either goes to its cage or flies to the floor so i give him seeds. it doesnt bite me neither hiss but its still scared of me and i dont know what to do to make my cockatiel like me :(
If your little one is eating from your hand that’s really good!
It’s really early days for you and your little one so itlll take time and patience!!

That's an interesting question.
Males sing, march around, do heart wings and bonk things. This gives the impression they are more playful.
But, both male and female cockatiels are just as intelligent as each other and can learn tricks/play.
I'd say the primary differences are in behaviour (the male impressive behaviours), egg laying, nesting behaviour and ability to vocalise.

My female Cocktail screams bloody murder at night when I come in the room to put her to bed for the night. She will climb up on top of her cage when she does this. I can't figure out what is going on. Is she excited to see me, or go to bed? Does anyone know or have an idea?
It’s possible she’s excited, hormonal or nervous! It’s also possible she knows it’s bed time and doesn’t want to go!

Thank you! I have to laugh for my female Cockatiel (Baby) that screams at bed time and actually doesn't like going to bed. Actually sometimes she tries to bite her leg with an attitude. She is mostly out of her home (cage) most of the day. She is only in her home when I need to leave the house or bedtime. Otherwise she has free range. Thank you for your answer.

I can tell you that cockatiels are known to have night terrors. I have a bunch of subtle glowing night lights all around my room, not too bright, but just enough that they can see what's going on. I also let them sleep on top of the cage at night because sometimes they would have night terrors and start thrashing like crazy inside the cage until I was able to finally grab them to calm them down. Anyway, yes, NIGHT LIGHTS are the answer. Oh, and don't cover the cage. They will eventually realize when bedtime is. 😊
I would never take my birds out of their cage. Can they be trained not to poop all over?

They can but only to an extent! There’s a great product called poop off I’d recommend!
I feel very sorry for your birds! You're obviously not a bird person. Birds need to be out of the cage for at least three hours a day if possible interacting with their owners. Educate yourself!
