Hi I want a parrot and im thinking about a cockatil i used to have a budgie he was bored of my attention so I usully left him by himself them showing so much attention is ok...do you reccomend it,is it hard?
Im currently 8 months pregnant and for the last 3 months my Cockatiel has been super clingy. He’s started crying if he’s out and I try and walk into another room. He wants to sit on me all the time and constantly head butts my lips for kisses. This is cute for about 5 minutes 🙈 but I adore him so much and I’m happy he is so friendly.
#6 they can be ear throbbing loud. Mine wakes up at 6am screaming until I let him out of his cage. Doesn’t matter that I have black out curtains either😂 Which wakes my budgies up.
When you said Pearl almost lost all of her tail feathers at one point because she was clumsy, I was so relieved because that recently happened to my bird and I thought that I was a bad owner or that she was hurt lol
@@zs1121 Some people do this but they crap too often and their feathers get gummed up--even messier (imagine trying to clean that butt--over vigorous objections). Best way: a 'toilet-trained" human with an automatic internal timer (goes off every ten minutes) and a nearby kleenex to hold bird over every 10 minutes. Cage not an option. Do you want to live in a cage?
I actually got my cockatiel because I needed a clingy animal. I have alot of health issues and most of all socializing issues so having a pet to keep me busy and keep me company made all the difference. He can be a bit obnoxious at times but its nice to feel how much loves and needs me.
@@Eeee-xl4xb if you haven't gotten it comfortable with you yet it takes a lot of time and playing with it regarding toys. Make sure it isn't stressed or your not being loud or really like, over shadowing over the bird with interactions. Mine used to be scared and feisty when he was alive, but as he grew (before I left because of separations with parents) he was very open after I spent time just attempting to get him to open up with me a little.
My cockatiel, (I’ve named her Pichu, but we just call her peach for short) sits on my shoulders when I’m at my computer, and she is either sitting on my chair, me, or cuddling my computer.
used to have one when i was 9. followed me around like a puppy. eventually became my alarm clock because he would start raising hell every morning at 7 on school days. then we got a quaker parrot, and the damn parrot taught him how to talk
Was the cockatiel easier to take care of than the quaker parrot? I've always wanted a bird, specially a cockatoo or a parrot, but I know they can be a lot, so I'm thinking about a cockatiel.
@@000euMJ yes cockatiels are generally easier than a Quaker but size, bite & care are about the same. Personality, friendliness and behaviors may be the biggest difference.
I feel u. I have two cockatiels but one absolutely HATES the other! So when I get the other tiel out my other one goes into murder mode and all the sudden doesn't like me lol. (I think she was liking being the only child)
This video was made three years ago. But I've had two cockatiels. One female and one male. They brought so much joy, love and blessings into my life. They gave me great happiness. They are both gone now. But all of the precious and priceless gifts they gave me will stay in my heart and memories forever. There are no bad things . They love you and they truly touched my life. And I'm so grateful I had them. ❤️
I absolutely adore cockatiels, I always loved having mine in the house. They were loud, they screeched a lot, they flew around and knocked stuff down, they were super clingy and I loved every second of them. Even when one of them would have a night fright I’d get up in the middle of the night and spend the next few hours cuddling them until their anxiety went away. I can’t wait to get another. They’re so worth it to me.
GET TWO. do not make the same mistake we did. don't get me wrong i love my bird but he's attached to us and we literally can't do anything without him being on someone's shoulder or he screeches.
Try going with a finch or a sparrow from a breeder first. I love my parrots so much but my first bird ever was a house sparrow and still my favorite bird i have ever owned. A great starter bird, gets ya used to having a bird around. My girl was a rescue and couldn't fly, and so id carry her around in my pocket through the neighborhood. She was my best friend growing up. As a cockatiel owner, there is a lot more issues than listed here. (For example, I've owned a bird that had constant night terrors so id have to sleep with him next to my bed and be ready to wake up and calm him at a moments notice, no sleep ever, and a parrot who is a violent hormonal foot fetishists.) Love my birds, you'll love them too, but start small!
I started my first bird with a lovebird and honestly it's pretty good, and recently my lovebird died so I'm getting a cockatiel this time so these infos help me a lot😊
I still haven't gotten a pet bird since the timing isn't good but ironically I had to raise two wild birds. Nestlings had fallen out of their nest and the nest was too high to put them back in. Parents didn't notice them from the ground and some of their siblings who had also fallen had starved/dried to death. There was no bird rehabilitation centers nearby. I did a lot of googling and the nestlings did really well, they made it into independency. It was a really nice experience even though it was a lot of work, they had to be fed every 30 minutes or so. When I started to get them used to the wild they would still fly on my shoulders or sit on my head and then fly back to the trees. Gradually they got more and more independent and now they can fend for themselves. I still see them flying around and while they don't come to sit on me anymore, they do come pretty close and answer to my voice. I can see myself getting a pet bird one day even more surely now haha. Thanks for the tips!
OMG! The Cliiiiiing! I love it though. My girl is a rescue from a severe neglect situation where she got very little interaction for most of her life. She deserves all the attention I can give her. Hanging out with me has also made her less fearful of new things and helped renew her curiosity.
Once our front door was open and a cockatiel just sat right outside our door and then flew inside and landed on our fruit basket! She also landed on my sister's plate on the fish lol. She was hungry so we fed her seeds and gave her water. We were really surprised how social and brave this bird was and we kept her for 4 days until we found the owner. She was very intelligent and would literally rock her head to Michael jackson's songs!!! She was also such an attention seeker and kept following my dad around the house lol. She would chirp so loud whenever someone left the room. People also need to be aware that cockatiels are extremely loud especially in the mornings. She was so adorable and loved sitting on everyone's shoulder and did not bite. Very well trained! We missed her:(
I wish mine were clingy. Got them when they were a bit older! They are comfortable around us but NEVER let me scratch their heads. One of my male birds is always skittish at the slightest movement and scares the other birds.
Aww I just love the fact that people are still making videos about parrots, cause I love seeing people looking after them well, which that results in a cute parrot 😁
My cockatiel has always been extremely careful and gentle with his beak. He has never ever bitten me for real before. Hes 5 yrs old now. But damn hes clingy and messy too hahaha
Yea mine wants attention all the time!!! When I’m sitting in my couch it’s just screaming until I go get him and put him on my shoulder then he sleeps on me 😂😂😂
Kevin and Krista Extras np! 😊 I’m sure the second time stamp I wrote was meant to be different seeing as it’s only 1 second after the first one I listed 🤣.
I love my cockatiels. It's been 2 years and the boy loves watching me play on phones or tablets. Hes very attached to people. People are like his playground. And he loves to sing and dance and play peek a boo. 🥰
I just got my first cockatiel ever today. She’s 6 months old and we got her from a close friend from my mom. She is a hand raised one and I am really surprised that she likes being pet and she was trying to chill on the bed with me and eat my food. She adapted real quick. Her feathers are clipped and I’m gonna let her grow them out bc I have “bird dogs” and I would feel safer if she could fly. I named her nugget :D
I had a male cockatiel that was an aviary bird but still tame, because he lacked a fear instinct. While I was on my laptop he would come down and start pecking and pulling the keys off while I was typing doing work. Then I got him a smaller netbook and put him on it next to where I was sitting to have him peck at that instead. He only pecked at the keys on the same keyboard I was typing on. Only time he ever pecked at me gently but feverishly, was when I would try coax him down from his ceiling swing. He loved sitting up there.
I work at home a lot, and I've got a way to get around the whole 'velcro bird' thing. Since I work on my PC, I have a spare keyboard on a stand by my PC, so we each have our own 'computers'. This enables her to be near to me and join in with what I'm doing (in her mind at least). I can continue working and she has the company she needs and feels included. Mind you, she has got me well trained- I've found myself using my dominant hand for head scritches and typing left handed too many times to mention!
My cockatiel Kahlua will take three laps around the living room every time I take her out then she lands on my arm and lifts and spreads her wings at me then immediately wants scratches. She’s awesome
Omg haha! I was just watching this out of curiosity, and when you said Pillow I got so happy! I have a white parakeet named Pillow and a baby cockatiel named Henry!!
My grandmas sister: don’t worry his bites don’t hurt. I’m old with weak skin and he hasn’t bruised me once. My bird: *bruises my hands with bites and draws blood from my dads cuticles*
I'm glad to know we all have the same "problems" with our birds. I love mine to death. Neo almost 2yo and Angel almost 7yo. He was my 2 month old hand raised present for her after my last male Slayer died of health complications at the age of 4. To me Neo is the reincarnation of Slayer because when one died the other was being born. He's great and Angel is more sociable now because of him.
Everyone knows that budgies aren't like THE BEST birds in the world, but they are amazing. For me, I never mind anything that the cockatiels do to my things, or me. My cockatiels that I had were from my friend. The cockatiels she was selling were for a very cheap price, and I always wanted one. Cockatiels have no problems whatsoever
Just wanted to say this was an awesome series of videos. The one question I've been very curious about is how do you deal with the poop? Does it wipe easily from clothes? Is it easy to clean? Do they tend to run and hide when pooping or do they tend to do it in the open so it's easy to find?
My cockatiel Gilbee can be a bit clingy & if he gets annoying while I'm working on my computer, I just pop him back in his cage. Since his cage is next to my computer, he'll settle down & sit "near" me. (I have a large cage with a couple of perches near the bottom on the side next to me.) I've had both budgies & cockatiels, & my one budgie got cancer, another had some illness that baffled my vet, but we were able to save him by giving him sugar water of all things.XD My first 'tiel had gotten sick with a bad chest infection that he passed to me & as much as I kept my contact to a minimum, got it back from me & we did this for about 2 months before he got so bad he was suffering & I had him put down. My Gilbee did get a cold a couple of years ago, but he recovered & he and my new budgie Cookie have been pretty healthy so far. :D As for biting, Jaki my female budgie used to BITE HARD & always drew blood. Chicken Nugget(a budgie) never bit me & neither did my first 'tiel Mel. Gilbee will peck you if you accidentally touch a pin feather while giving him head skritches & sometimes he does it just because, but he's very placid & I would recommend a 'tiel over a budgie for a child if they want a bird they can play with. Cookie is still skittish & afraid of hands & I've him almost a year now & have made an effort to try to hand tame him, but he ain't having it. XD So I enjoy him as he is & I have him in a big cage so he has plenty of room to fly in it & a lot of toys to play with. Gilbee, if you open the cage for whatever reason, will come over to you as quickly as he can. He's funny in that he has a big cage, but climbs around it, instead of flying. XD You're right in that 'tiels make a bigger mess. XD As for food, I find it costs about the same for both types of food. Same with vet visits.
I would not say that a bird who will fly to you and loves to cuddle is a bad thing. My 'tiels make me laugh every day and are very loving creatures. Instead of clingy, I would use the word affectionate !
Great video as always! The first aspect, how Cockatiels are clingy, is good for me. My budgies that recently escaped always shied away from my hand, no matter my attempts to make them feel safe. A clingy bird would reassure me that I *am* a good bird owner. The second aspect of them being messy worries my mum a lot more than it worries me, as I could clean it up. I get a thrill from having a bird that will give me things to do, even if its cleaning. The third aspect is probably the one of the ones that concerns me, but I’ve *experienced* bites from my budgies, and they bite harder than a Cockatiel could. The medical things would be a small problem, but I’ve had birds before, and although they never required special medications, they had check-ups and wing clippings, so I could handle it. This is my opinion!
My experience was so different but every bird has their own personality. My cockatiel was a sweetheart, yes they have dander and are clingy but so are a lot of birds that have bonded with us, small and large. I found when a budgie bites they are hard to pry off but if cockatiels bite it bites and let's go. I had my cockatiel for 25 years and he was a great bird (friend)..
hi Krista! love your channel! I have a cockateal which I bought since very young (about 8 weeks old) and hand fed her formula until it was able to eat on her own. I thought that would bring her closer to me and make her tamed but instead she seems more like she is always watching out for herself. I do have children in the house so I don't know if that is why she doesn't feel safe all of the time. Sometimes she will fly to me and I can see she wants to be around me, but there's a lot of times when she is very aggressive if I go near hear. She does bite a whole lot. I would appreciate any advice! :)
As someone who had budgies, it was a huge surprise when Dad brought home a cockatiel out of the blue. The main things we had to get used to were: 1. Chalky dusty dander 2. Much sharper toenails 3. Noise volume. But Dad's cockatiel was the SWEETEST bird ever. Always cuddling, always asking for scritches, and forever desperately trying (and failing) to fit in with my three budgies... ♡
Compared with budgies, cockies are far more dependent and have NO sense of humor (budgies playfighting can work them into a frenzy). They are also far more manipulative (little divas that will arrange a family in a pecking order in a manner of weeks). They are also, alas, more addictive.
Same here..she is very clingy..always on me.when am doing all household chores..even if i try n put her somewhere..she flies back on me.. Love it at times..and find it hard when i really need to do some important work..
I work at a pet shop with many bird species, and cockatiels by far have the most personality of the many birds I've come in contact with. They do bite but will rest on you like a perch afterwards. Good and bad , but in my opinion mostly good. If everyone in the household is over 12 years of age then do yourself a favor and bring one home you won't regret it.
About the biting thing- My hand raised cockatiel has bit me more and harder than my not hand raised cockatiel. Both females. Crazy right?! Love em both like crazy though! 💗
Did you get your hand raised as a baby? If not, maybe they had an owner previously that made them afraid of hands. Or maybe they're hand raised, but just don''t like hands, haha. Also, females can bite when nesting regardless. Sounds like your birdies are loved though, so that's great! :)
I’ve had my hand raised cockatiel- Baby- sense she was a little baby. I got my non hand raised -Ellie- when she was alil older but not by much. Ellie has done the whole nesting thing but not Baby. Baby (the one who has bitten me harder) is attached/bonded with me... Ellie, not so much. She doesn’t beg for attention or really want to be touched BUT she’s the one that hasn’t bitten me. It’s crazy, I know
I do, I love them to pieces 💗 I give them a wide variety of foods, they spend a lot of time out of their cage, and I’ve been slowly trying to train them. Baby, my hand raised now knows a few tricks. They are both amazing lil birds! 💗🦜💗
Just a tip. When I would trim my cockatiels nails, I would put him on a screen door. My bird would cling to the screen and I would clip the nails on the other side of the screen. If done properly, the bird doesn't even mind. Just dont trim too close, just enough to where he doesn't keep getting his toes caught on the carpet.
My thoughts on each point 1. I’m very good at handling clingy things on the rare occasion I wouldn’t love it 2. I have dandruff too lol 3. I hate kids this is an absolute win 4. I don’t have very expensive taste anyway I can spend a lot my muns on the bird 5. This is absolutely the biggest downside for me Overall I think the positives outweigh the negatives so in the future I will get a berdy (I’ve wanted one for years this is not a spur of the moment decision I promise)
The only issue I had with mine was the fact I had to turn over my remotes; always chewing the buttons! 😁 I would like another but I sadly don't have time to give it the full attention it would need. I'll just watch videos of them instead. 😊
I’m sorry if this is an odd question but I haven’t found anyone talking about it online at all. I’m really interested in owning a cockatiel but I have Tourette’s and tend to mimic sounds I hear. Would this cause any major problems or do you think it would be fine?
My cockatiel calls for me the minute he wakes up in the morning and as soon as I open the he cage to feed him he tries to jump on me, he can be nice, but when I try to take him off me he tries to bite me sometimes cuz he doesn't want me to put him down so I had to clip his wings, he would chase me around the house and if he can't go on me then he will chase me kids to go on one of them and he bites if you try to remove him so I can't let him out so much anymore cuz he crazy.
My birds have an open cage and fly around my house. The first problem is you have to clean up their poop, although it is not too bad as they are small birds. The bigger problem is they like to chew everything. Any book you leave on the table will be ragged-edged in a few days, as will the sides of wood cabinets and doors. They also love climbing into confined spaces, which is a problem if they get into a cabinet drawer -- a few times I have found them trapped in the base cabinet below. Also, once I opened up a hole in the drywall to repair something and the next day the birds disappeared down inside the wall and I had to fish them out. Now I know to cover all holes with pieces of cardboard. To give them something to climb into I give them cardboard boxes with two holes in them -- if you don't provide a second exit they will tear one open themselves. They love to climb inside of the boxes and they will spend a lot of time tearing up the insides or simply sit there for hours at a time staring at the walls. After a few months the cardboard box is so torn up I have to throw it away and start again. But a nice cardboard box seems to be their ideal nesting house. This tendency to climb into confined spaces can pose genuine dangers; always keep them out of a room if you are heating an oven, keep the toilet lid closed, and keep the kitchen drawers closed.
Too true about the computer. Mine loves popping the keys. I never actually found the 'enter' key from my last laptop. Mine gets branches, I have never had to trim his talons. None of the other issues are ones that I have had with my three.
E M O T I O N S hand raised birds tend to be more friendly towards human hands and stuff. They bite less and go with whatever you want them to do while the one's who aren't hand raised would bite if scared. Btw it is possible to tame them no matter if they are hand raised or not but that requires Patience and you have to give them alot of attention in the beginning when you get them.
E M O T I O N S - Also, a hand-raised bird knows human touch and companionship much stronger and earlier on than one that's not. It's what they've been used to since birth, so they crave it.
_My budgie drew blood once when I got her out to put a mineral on her nose to help stop crust going...._ This video is very helpful! I've planning on getting a cockatiel.
My Cockatiel's name was Pearl too..We were together for 16 years. I loved my Pearl. She did service work as a volunteer with Seniors for 10 years as a visiting pet. I will always miss her. Sending love and hugs to your Pearl too.😘🤗😍🐥❣
Either or. Both are wonderful and amazing. Males are more outgoing, friendly, whistles and even talkers sometimes. Females are mostly little princesses that are generally more relaxed, quiet and shy. While they don't whistle like the males, they have the sweetest little chirps. Those are the pros. Cons for the males is that they can get loud especially when they flock call, males also have the tendency of being slightly more nippy and aggressive sometimes but it's not that bad really. Females can go into chronic egg laying during hormonal season and can lay eggs non stop which leads to other complications such as egg binding and nutrient deficiency because it takes a lot of nutrients from the females to produce an egg and if they do go through chronic egg laying, you can imagine the outcome. I have a pair and this is just my personal experience but every bird is its own individual and experiences may differ but generally this should be a decent outline of it. In terms of the budgie, you have to monitor them during interactions because cockatiels even though they are larger are more chilled than budgies. Budgies have been known to bully and some cases even kill the calmer cockatiel but lets say the cockatiel does manage to get a bite in then the smaller budgie will definitely be in for an injury but generally budgies are far more dexterous and agile than a cockatiel so I don't see this happening really. This is the worst case scenario but birds have different personalities and you never know, maybe your two might hit off without a hitch but just something you should keep in consideration. Good luck on your decision and sorry I couldn't be of more help
Don't forget: DO MAKE SURE THAT THE BIRD POOP DOES NOT GO IN YOUR HEAD!!! My teacher has a cockatiel and once she went to my place with bird poop on her head/hair!!!

I have two cockatiels a sun conure and a Quaker, friendliest Birds I've ever had and they are as clean as hell and I couldn't and wouldn't trade them for the world, the one thing I will say though is having Birds is there not great around small children but at the same time it teaches small kids don't agitate the animal or it will bite there is a consequence so I think that's the best learning tool for kids to learn boundaries with animals, some people have dogs dogs probably work better but I honestly prefer my birds as a good teaching tool for my young visitors

When I'm cleaning he actually chase me while screaming.
Hahaha!
Mine will chase down the vacuum and walk in front of it but is scared to death of a small plastic ball with a bell inside it.🤦♀️
My cockatiel likes to fight with me, out of showing dominance.
By the end of this fight I enslave him and make him clean up my room for compensation
When I get one I will be sure to put mine in the area I'm not cleaning
Then let them make it covered in little snow dustings within a hour of vacume
Mines too and freaks out if he cant find me around the house

Im currently 8 months pregnant and for the last 3 months my Cockatiel has been super clingy. He’s started crying if he’s out and I try and walk into another room. He wants to sit on me all the time and constantly head butts my lips for kisses. This is cute for about 5 minutes 🙈 but I adore him so much and I’m happy he is so friendly.
Hahaha just like a baby
good luck on the birth! Have fun having a real baby and a feather baby!

Best way: a 'toilet-trained" human with an automatic internal timer (goes off every ten minutes) and a nearby kleenex to hold bird over every 10 minutes. Cage not an option. Do you want to live in a cage?

Owning a cockatiel is precious❤
We agree Twister! :)

I actually got my cockatiel because I needed a clingy animal. I have alot of health issues and most of all socializing issues so having a pet to keep me busy and keep me company made all the difference. He can be a bit obnoxious at times but its nice to feel how much loves and needs me.
Oh my gosh yes. I feel so lonely that my rabbit has died and having an affectionate companion is what I’ve been missing
They are SO DANG CLINGY. Its unreal. I have a female pearl cockatiel who does exactly the same stuff. Lol
Right?! :)
Mine are so shy, how did u get yours so comfortable with u?
When my cockatiel is mad or something he try to bite me but never bites me hard 🥺❤️
Same here.. mine bites but have never came anywhere close to drawing blood
Yea Cockatiels have an annoyed cry and nudge you with their beak to back off if you pet them in a way that tickled them or made them uncomfortable.

My Cockatiels: *murdering my hands when I so much as lift it up near them*
ProbablyAWitch Felt this in my soul 😂 Try taking a shower with yours it helps the bonding and you’ll be able to pet and cuddle them
I haven’t owned a Cockatiel in years, I’ve missed having a snuggly little buddy. I’m devouring all knowledge I can.
They don't sound bad at all. I'd like to get one someday. Birds are really interesting and pretty! ❤️
And they bond very close with you as well I have two parakeets
GET TWO. do not make the same mistake we did. don't get me wrong i love my bird but he's attached to us and we literally can't do anything without him being on someone's shoulder or he screeches.
I watched this video before getting my cockatiel thinking "nah, these aren't that bad". After having mine for a few months, I understand everything 😂
Once our front door was open and a cockatiel just sat right outside our door and then flew inside and landed on our fruit basket! She also landed on my sister's plate on the fish lol. She was hungry so we fed
her seeds and gave her water. We missed her:(
me: **saw tittle** Worst thing about owning cockatiel? Pftt...
Her: *They are clingy!*
Me: .... Ahh.. That's true..
iicxkyyy my bird won’t let me leave the room to use the bathroom without screaming and flying around the room
I wish mine were clingy. Got them when they were a bit older! They are comfortable around us but NEVER let me scratch their heads. One of my male birds is always skittish at the slightest movement and scares the other birds.
I see this as an absolute win
Me: 'looks at hands'
Also me: 'sees a scratch on every inch bc of the cockatiels'

3:13 you can just see pearl bobbing her head up and down in the corner😂🤣
Aww I just love the fact that people are still making videos about parrots, cause I love seeing people looking after them well, which that results in a cute parrot 😁
My cockatiel has always been extremely careful and gentle with his beak. He has never ever bitten me for real before. Hes 5 yrs old now. But damn hes clingy and messy too hahaha
Yep, same. Our is also light with the beak. So sweet.
Yea mine wants attention all the time!!! When I’m sitting in my couch it’s just screaming until I go get him and put him on my shoulder then he sleeps on me 😂😂😂
Lol so cute
The first worst thing is actually not worst but the love your cockatiel shows towards you.
I told myself that I would comment on all of your videos
But I don’t know what to say so...
Hola
You’ve earned a like, I guess I laugh too hard about this!
*GASP,THE SPANISH INQUISITION*
The scritches at 0:20 and 0:21 were soooo cute! Such an adorable tiel, I love how poofy and floofy he or she is 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks, CenturianEagle!
Yes! Great description. We are like their playground. Haha!
At 3:13 pearl is just bouncing around in the bottom left corner :)
Great video, all my birds were on my bed watching this with me 😂
Lol🤣

😊
I had a male cockatiel that was an aviary bird but still tame, because he lacked a fear instinct. While I was on my laptop he would come down and start pecking and pulling the keys off while I was typing doing work. Then I got him a smaller netbook and put him on it next to where I was sitting to have him peck at that instead. He only pecked at the keys on the same keyboard I was typing on. Only time he ever pecked at me gently but feverishly, was when I would try coax him down from his ceiling swing. He loved sitting up there.
:) They do love pecking at keys.

Awwwww cmere my feathery littwle baby
I really love your videos you’ve helped me a lot with my budgies
Lee Healy - Good to hear it! 👍
They will do it anywhere they like but is easy to clean up and does not leave any marks. It's even easier to clean up when it is dry.
I like how you call them 'tiels
@@poop143 Thanks! XD
I would not say that a bird who will fly to you and loves to cuddle is a bad thing. My 'tiels make me laugh every day and are very loving creatures. Instead of clingy, I would use the word affectionate !
I am never late for school my cockatiel screams as loud as they can at 6:30 my ears ring but it does wake me up well 😂
None of these really bother me top much. I think I might get one! I already have a budgie so i hope they get along like yours do :)
3:13 look at that baby dance in the cage behind the lady
This is my opinion!
every morning my cockatiels start yelling like its end of the world... EVERY. MORNING.
Very nice and informative video!
Omg how can we say No to the cutie pie pearly
As someone who had budgies, it was a huge surprise when Dad brought home a cockatiel out of the blue. The main things we had to get used to were:
1. Chalky dusty dander
2. Much sharper toenails
They stuck with u like a glue 😂
Same here..she is very clingy..always on me.when am doing all household chores..even if i try n put her somewhere..she flies back on me..
Love it at times..and find it hard when i really need to do some important work..
Cockatiels are almost perfect for me, except the dander. Almost everyone in my family has allergies, but maybe an air purifier would help?

I have been watching you all night! This is so helpful! :D
Me: *Watches this*
My dad's cockatiel I'm looking after: *flies over onto my head and starts pacing on my shoulder, then walking over my laptop* Lol!

About the biting thing-
My hand raised cockatiel has bit me more and harder than my not hand raised cockatiel.
For the claw thing, consider getting perches that have rougher textures to file them down a bit.
We have one but they don't like it, so we stopped using it.
This is actually a really bad idea 🙈 Sand perches/ sand paper perches/ concrete perches can really mess up a birds feet.
My thoughts on each point
1. I’m very good at handling clingy things on the rare occasion I wouldn’t love it
2. I have dandruff too lol
3. I hate kids this is an absolute win
4. I don’t have very expensive taste anyway I can spend a lot my muns on the bird
5. This is absolutely the biggest downside for me
Overall I think the positives outweigh the negatives so in the future I will get a berdy
(I’ve wanted one for years this is not a spur of the moment decision I promise)
It is not that bad and difficult,or that mess
Just want to ask how do you train 2 cockatiels of the same age to also bond with you even if you bought them as a pair. Thanks
Is it about the same as a Parrotlet bite? My Parrotlet bites harder then my budgies and I’m used to it
The only issue I had with mine was the fact I had to turn over my remotes; always chewing the buttons! 😁
I would like another but I sadly don't have time to give it the full attention it would need.
I don’t mind loud or repetitive noises or anything but I wouldn’t want to stress or harm the bird at all. Thanks x
#1 Clingy Yep, that's my Jewel. I'm thinking of changing her name to Velcro!
I can relate but my cockatiel is always there for me in hard times and makes me happy :)
A cocktail was in my balcony and I kept it
how’s it now? or is he/she passed..?
Too true about the computer. Mine loves popping the keys. I never actually found the 'enter' key from my last laptop. Mine gets branches, I have never had to trim his talons. None of the other issues are ones that I have had with my three.
But I’m confused?! What is hand raised? What if they aren’t? What if they are?!
Thank you so much! I understand what to look for when I can FINALLY convince my parents to get a bird!
@カモメcheegulls Short and simple, lol. I like that.
This was such an amazing educational video! Especially scenes there not many videos like this!!!
It’s been 5 years and I still can’t train my cockatiel I need help 🥺
i am wanting a cockatiel rn i am studying right now this is my 4th or 5th day worth of studing them! this helped alot thanks :D
My cockatiel passed away yesterday and I really miss playing with him every day, Rest In Peace my friend you will be missed😖😭
I'm so sorry. If you miss him/her so much maybe you could get another one in time. It does help. I know the same thing happened to me.
I would assume cockatiel bite is about as bad as my conure's, I'm considering a Cockatiel as a 2nd bird and this video is a good reference. Thanks!
My cockatiel would eat my homework. He would eat the paper 😅
_My budgie drew blood once when I got her out to put a mineral on her nose to help stop crust going...._
This video is very helpful! I've planning on getting a cockatiel.
I dont know way may cocatail always poop on my sholder
My Cockatiel's name was Pearl too..We were together for 16 years. I loved my Pearl. She did service work as a volunteer with Seniors for 10 years as a visiting pet. I will always miss her. Sending love and hugs to your Pearl too.😘🤗😍🐥❣
I have a green cheek conure named buddy and while he can be rather mischievious at times he can also be quite a sweetheart
We love conures!
Hi,
I would like to get a cockatiel but I was wondering if it would be better to get a female or male because I already have a male budgie.
My teacher has a cockatiel and once she went to my place with bird poop on her head/hair!!!
hi i have a 5 month old cockatiel his tail was ripped out from a door before i bought him, the side tail feathers are growing will the main part of the tail grow and how long does it take,
0:50 that happend to your cockateil not ours
Your birdies are so cute!!! Thank for the information.
My friend comes to my house and is always playing with me and my cockatiel bites her and attacks her lol
🤣🤣
I have two cockatiels a sun conure and a Quaker, friendliest Birds I've ever had and they are as clean as hell and I couldn't and wouldn't trade them for the world, the one thing I will say though is having Birds is there not great around small children but at the same time it teaches small kids don't agitate the animal or it will bite there is a consequence so I think that's the best learning tool for kids to learn boundaries with animals, some people have dogs dogs probably work better but I honestly prefer my birds as a good teaching tool for my young visitors
