Gillian Welch ( born October 2, 1967) is an American singer-songwriter. She performs with her musical partner, guitarist David Rawlings. Their sparse and dark musical style, which combines elements of Appalachian music, Bluegrass, and Americana, is described by The New Yorker as "at once innovative and obliquely reminiscent of past rural forms".
Dave Rawlins is doin' most of the singin' with that guitar. I dig it.

When the conversation turns to who or was the best Guitar player of all time, people love to through names around , Hendrix , Clapton , Knofler etc.. People pretty much don't consider acoustic guitar players. I think they're a little short sighted . Dave Rawlings is a fine example of that. This guy can make the guitar sing !
I think all the folks you mentioned are aware of Dave Rawlings and probablyagree he is a huge talent, except Hendrix of course.

David Rawlings is an extremely great performer. Never understood why he was only treated second best. Kudos to David.
I feel like a naive neophyte. Watching the Man from UNCLE movie I just discovered Solomon Burke from the cover version of Cry to Me that lead me here. How could I have missed this man for all of my life? He was a treasure. Amazing voice.

I was given albums when a friend died, a large collection of those were Solomon Burke's earlie albums, of course, at that time I knew nothing of him and the albums have been growing dust for years. I feel sooooo stupid. I'm feeling him now and will cherish those albums from now on. I was to immature to appreciate him when he was alive. Boy, did I goof.
