- Solomon Burke & Emmylou Harris live at Nashville's Belcourt Theatre on September 25th 2006.
Solomon Burke (March 21, 1940 -- October 10, 2010) was an American singer-songwriter, entrepreneur, mortician, and an archbishop of the United House of Prayer For All People. Burke was known as "King Solomon", the "King of Rock 'n' Soul", and as the "Bishop of Soul", and described as "the Muhammad Ali of soul", and as "the most unfairly overlooked singer of soul's golden age".
During the 55 years that he performed professionally, Burke released 38 studio albums on more than 17 record labels and had 35 songs that charted, including 26 songs that made the Billboard R&B charts, including "Got to Get You Off My Mind" that was #1 in the summer of the 1965, and an additional 9 songs that were only listed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
By 2005 Burke was credited with selling 17 million albums. Rolling Stone ranked Burke as #89 on its 2008 list of "100 Greatest Singers of All Time".
On Sunday October 10, 2010, Burke died at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport while on a plane from Los Angeles that had just landed. He had been due to perform with De Dijk in Amsterdam on October 12.
Been loving Emmylou Harris for years. Just finding Solomon and can't get enough of him. Together they are amazing.
Solomon Burke and Emmylou Harris . Harmonize so perfect together singing .We're Going To Hold On . Thanks for sharing this song .
Fantastic, two great talents who sing together.
R.I.P. Solomon, the world has lost an icon.
The great Solomon Burke and the Angel Emmylou. Brings tears to my old eyes. What an amazing and adventerous idea to put these two together. Emmylou is so adventerous and diverse. There is no one else like her in this world.
Solomon is such an amazing artist, and gentleman as well. I stumbled on him by accident, I wish it would have happened soon. RIP sir, your music will live forever.
How have I not known who he was . God Bless his soul. I love this man
I like Burke on this country song! I think his voice is more distinct!.
Emmylou voice comes out like a big ray of sunshine with whom ever she is singing with .

Beautiful duet from an unlikely pair!!!
Soloman Burke and Emmylou Harris...two of my favorite singers of all time..thanks to Emmylou for doing this beautiful duet with Soloman while he was still with us...we are glad we still have this soulful cut to listen to, of these exceptional talents...RIP Soloman Burke

"...The proximity of thoughts,
it's a piece of heaven
invisible to the eyes,
and perceptible to the heart ...."
God bless my friends.
Neuvěřitelně nádherné!!!
Vert Nice.
The great King Solomon
and the angelic vocal stylings of
Miss Emmylou Harris
What a voice he had I had few of his songs so powerful.
Wondrful talent singing together..................haters go away..LISTEN.
Emmy is really country music royalty. How she finds such inspiration is beyond comprehension. She is just outstanding in this vid. The song is brilliant by itself. But Her range adds such depth to this song. Ridiculous.
I've got ya Baby.....not letting go.....pinky promise!!!!! Great song.
Love it!
How did I miss this? Absolutely fabulous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAYUMMMMMMMMMM
Beautiful music. I found this one. I listen to Solomon Burke when I get the blues. His music pulls me up and I feel better. thank you for this music.
I love Emmylou Harris!!!
Much love 💝 !!! From Solomon Burke Jr.
Had no idea that Mr. Burke was such a big man. Luv his voice & music.
Absolutely fantastic. Discovered Solomon Burke from listing to the superb Jools Holland albums - he reminds of that other great blues man B B King. Just listening to Solomon's final studio album Hold on Tight - great stuff.
He'd been around a long time. I think he just kinda flew below the radar. I lost touch with his music for decades. But he was a contemporary of BB, Ray Charles, and Otis R. I first used to listen to him as a teen, and I'm 72 now! He sounds great in this and its a great appreciation-choice of musicians I might add.
We're gonna hold on
We're gonna hold on
We're gonna hold on to each other
Life can be rough, sometimes it's kind
A real good life is hard to find
But the best love is the one we've known
And the faith we have between us makes it grow
Some love lives and some love don't
We've got the kind of love we want
It brings us happiness all through the day
And nothin' can ever make it go away
We're gonna hold on
We're gonna hold on
We're gonna hold on to each other
Time will tell if you're right or wrong
We know we're right by holdin' on
And the future is set for you and me
Filled with love, the way we both want it to be
We're gonna hold on
We're gonna hold on
We're gonna hold on to each other
We're gonna hold on
Merci beaucoup pour la parole de cette chanson !

Very nice!
He was really great at cry to me
Two great voice beautiful
Neuvěřitelně nádherné!
SOl could sing the nashville phone book and make you enjoy it and Emmeylou could follow with the yellow pages. Thanks for sharing.
What a team....Love the both. Sorry he's gone....worry about Emmy Lou since she has been a cigarette smoker for so many years. Remember what happened to Levon Helm? I can't even think of her voiced silenced due to smoking. What a shame it would be.
Bravo...that's all I have to say!!!
....WOW............................
The Queen indeed!
beatiful song i say

King & Queen album by Otis Redding & Carla Thomas is legendary, but I would've loved to hear an album by these two!

Beautiful song and two outstanding vocalists, even if Emmylou was in a bit of an awkward key to accommodate Solomons vocals, she's a pro tho' and nailed it !
really good duet

I've been an Emmylou fan for 40 years. and Solomon as well. But I was 'tubin and saw this. Thought it was a weird combo and the song selection totally from left field.
I could think of 100 songs I'd rather hear them do together, but this is nicely done - of course. Thanks for a nice upload.
Oude kaas is vaak het lekkerst. Naast leed staat talent. Dat zie je wel aan soloman!
Well Hello beautiful xx
song starts at 2:00
Einfach wunderschön 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
This is (not) us. Just doesn't sync as with Knopfler, but that was perfection.
Not exactly two names you think of when you think of country duets.....but hey, why not????
nice... but iprefer the tammy and george version best

A great song despite the over - long, sentimental, soapy American style intro by Solomon. Has to be said though that SB`s fantastic, powerful voice dominates so much that it makes EH sound somewhat weedy.
Emmylou has lost her magic voice. Sad to hear.
You're nuts
Karen Schrock Maybe so, but it doesn't change the fact she's not half the singer she was in the 70's.
But Solomon never did. RIP
hgwiechie True. His voice matured.
WHY DIDNT YOU STOP EATING?
Tell me about this. Is it something particular to black folks? Do I as a white need to know about it? How does someone inflate like a balloon?
Comfort food. Poor people's diet. Go to WVa. White folks have the same problem.
Solomon Burke was always big, had strong appetites (many, many children), and great spiritual connections. He coined the phrase "soul music" because he didn't want Atlantic to promote him as just a blues singer. Ray Charles made two albums of country music turned into Ray's personal vision of R&B. Solomon Burke always did country and bluegrass as arranged by artists native to the idiom, and just sang them his own way. He also had a neat little career as a character actor. He outlived many thinner artists who used drugs or were unlucky in small planes, or got shot. You want tragic obesity death -- the rooted Hawaiian croon "Iz." His older brother died before him, and he tried everything, but could only really be comfortable in a swimming pool by the end. I do wonder if he was done in by a genetic over strong anti-starvation capacity that helped his Polynesian ancestors make voyages of thousands of miles in dugout double-canoes. Tragic loss to an underaporeciated music.
Don't know how he died from fatness, hope I'm not on the same path.
