The pokoras are easily to make at home too, you can make it with any veg and mix with spices and onions in a battered chick pea flour,if you don't have chick pea flour you can use flour and little corn flour to make it crunchy and delicious 😋.

The pakoras are made with vegetables like cauliflower, potato, onion, and even with green chillies and eggplants. The best part is how they are covered in chickpea flour batter and then deep fried in oil. You are right about not being able to tell that it's cauliflower! The batter is usually mixed with a variety of condiments which make these veggies yummy.

The flower like spice is star anise.. It's very mild when used as a whole.. Unlike Black cardamom or clove.. It's mainly used for decorative part.
The term Masala refers to spicy so anything masala means spicy.
The spices in chana masala are Cumin, Fennel, Carom, peppercorns, coriander, black cardamom and cinnamon and mango powder. You can always buy premade chana masala from Indian grocery stores Preferably made by MDH company.

Hi Jessica.... Very well described.....leaves in the daal are "curry patta" not coriander leaves , it's assencial part of South Indian cuisine , it smell is very nice .......next spice in rice is star anise ( phool chakri) seed of fennel ( saunf) it's smell is just like saunf. It's most used in pulao n biryani and non veg dishes .

Every Indian dish has something special and surprising to it and I have to be cautious when mentioning "Indian Cuisine" . Because it's so vast and a never ending variety. India is a gigantic state and when travelling across every 100 miles you will feel a completely different life style, different food, culture and so on. So it has been rightly called as a world in itself.
Glad to see you enjoying those delightful delicious dishes. Keep exploring and keep enjoying 🥳

Dal tadka is the best!!! Pro-tip (which you probably already know by now, but just in case). When you eat the papadum (also known as appalam in south India) with the food, just break off a small piece and add it to each bite. This will ensure that your papadum doesn’t get soggy. If you break the entire thing at once, it will get soggy! And it’s better when it’s still crispy 😊
Love all your videos, and especially when you try and taste Indian food!

Love your reaction 💞 while having the great food 👍. You are really using your hands well while eating the food. A quick tip : Next time you eat Dal tadka & Rice. Get some basmati steam rice then pour dal takda in good quantity over the rice. Add some ghee(clarified butter) on top. Mix well with your hands. Then put crush of papadam on top. Take some raw onion rings on side. Add some fresh lemon juice over onion rings put a little bit of salt and black pepper over the rings for taste. Also, ask for some raw mango pickle or lemon pickle to the restaurant(this will be your 2nd side item). Now first have a bite of mixed rice&dal takda and then have some onion rings from the side.. you would come know the true taste of dal tadka. On your second bite taste some pickle from the side. This is how an Indian will enjoy a dal fry or dal tadka & basmati rice. 😉😉😉. Last but not the least - Happy Birthday to Jr. Alphanso. Have a good one. 👍 🎉.
