- Fr. Michael Lim is a Singaporean Catholic priest serving under the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn in Australia. His story depicts his conversion from a Buddhist to Catholicism as well as his personal journey into the seminary and life of the priesthood. A beautiful encounter of the power of the risen lord through the miraculous healing of his crippled sister became a life changing event that washed away all the years of doubts and cynicism about Christianity. This is the first of three parts interview.
I converted from Christianity to Buddhism 7 years ago. ☸️ May all beings discover the Dharma and attain liberation from their attachments and their suffering 🙏 ❤
I too was a Buddhist for years, having been raised Catholic but had gotten away from my Catholic faith but with Earnest prayers my conversion finally came and happy am I although believe me most Buddhist I worked with we're kind and sincere people. Thank you for your video.
what are your thoughts on the rosary as a former Buddhist ?
Don't understand you, so Buddhism makes you happy or catholism makes you happy. Which is which? Give more clarity.
The grace & power of the Holy Spirit is responsible to lead you and your family to the one holy catholic apostolic church Your journey of conversion was very powerful and you even became one of his laborers to serve him. God in a mysterious ways because you surrender to him and you let Him to lead you.Thank you for being a priest and may you will be always be faithful in serving the Lord Inspite of our imperfections.

Thank U Fr Michael Lim, your story of Conversion is a very inspiring one. It is so interesting & inspiring that I'll try to pass it to other friends so that they would be called by Jesus and Mary to be loving, caring, kind and holy people to other people.

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ and mother Mary
I am a Muslim and my best friend is a Roman Catholic and also a Buddhist so...both of them are really nice people
Christianity isn't about being nice.
Its about faith in Jesus, who was perfect and died in the place of sinners.
Roman Catholicism is a cult and so is Islam (which emerged out from Roman Catholicism).
Buddhism isn't even a theistic belief.
All false religions teach inherent righteousness but the one true religion teaches that all are sinners in the hands of an angry God, and only though the blood of the God man Christ Jesus, can anyone be reconciled to God.
Like Jesus told the rich young ruler:
"Who is good, but God?"
God loved the world in this way, He gave His unique etetnal Son, that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Theo Logian wow those Jack Chick Tracts really brainwashed u to believe that Islam came out from Catholicism 😂
It's Catholic.
I often hear Catholics, even priests, say "Roman" Catholic. But that is not correct.
Check the Vatican website for the correct name of the Catholic church. It's "the Catholic church". Surprise, surprise. 😆
@@theologian1456 yet you're here listening to this Catholic Priest's Conversion Story to Catholicism. Maybe God is telling you something to get off your High Horse and Listen...

Wow amazing!
the power of sins.. it blinds you. 14:26
Other than the music I liked the video.
Father Michael Lim should read about Catholic Trappist Monk, Thomas Merton and Jesuit Priest, Anthony De Mello on how these priests found Buddhism helped them to have profound insight on the Christian Gospel.
Quah Sinhor Buddhism doesnt have Jesus though.
Quah Sinhor Merton died because he left his monastery to attend an Eastern conference.
No salvation outside the Catholic Church!
Jesus and Buddha were both masters of morality. Still, when it comes to the nature of self, mind, existence, suffering, good, and all that stuff, Buddhism is very, very different.
Funny - I went the other wa around. Never been happier. Namo Buddhaya.
Amen 🙏
🥰
Jesus is all powerful God. May Jesus give you and your family the gifts of the Holy Spirit so every member of your family may be enriched in the TRUE FAITH in Christ Jesus our LORD.
after the born of Jesus of Nazareth, no other religion makes sense...
only in the name of Jesus are made the miracles to confirm that He is the Truth
Tomasz Jaglinski after the existence of Muhammad, there are ISIS, al qaeda, boko haram, 9/11
+Tomasz Jaglinski Give real examples based in real history or shut up and stop writing bullshit.
ricardo clemente The truth, the way, and the life. Jesus is Lord.
Too much intro .
Yea but does he still practice Buddhist style meditation? Does he sometimes relax and practice sitting med?
He does meditation on his morning walks.
No one who was a practicing Buddhist, or actually understood anything about Buddhism would ask why anyone suffers The answer to why there is suffering is karma. Buddha's first teaching is that life is suffering. And then he teaches how to escape that suffering. Fr. Lim bay have been born a Buddhist but I don't think that it was a part of his daily life. If the teachings of Christ have penetrated his heart, then more power to him. I myself went the other way, from RC to Buddhist. In a real way it made the teaching of Christ clearer. What bothered me most about the religions of the book is that they for the most part turn God into a cruel, narcissistic asshole that created the universe so that He/She would be worshiped. And if one does not accept Christ as their personal saviour you're going to burn in hell forever. I'm sorry but my God for lack of a better word is beyond that kind of petty narcissism.
G R A Maybe Catholicism wasn’t a part of your daily life either. Being raised in a Vietnamese Catholic household...I have seen a lot of Vietnamese Buddhists who don’t practice their religion either. So you may be right
You are right about the Buddhist theory of Karma, but your view of Catholicism is wrong: we don not believe in a "petty God". We believe God created the universe not to be worshipped but to Love. He is Love and Love can't be alone: Love is giving and creative by nature, so it's natural that he has created the universe to Love and since humans were created in the Image of God they are naturally brought to love one another, take care of creation and ultimately love God with all our being because our hearts were made for Him, to love him is our greatest joy and to love us is His greatest joy. There absolutely nothing narcisistic nor petty in our God: He is so humble he took our frail human nature on himself to be close to us, because he loves us and wants to be with us. That's why we believe in Jesus, not because we are afraid of hell. Plus, God does not cast people into hell: we condemn ourselves to hell when we walk away from Him because hell means to be far from Him, which is the greatest suffering for human beings. God want our salvation soooo much that He was ready to die for it, there's no narcissism in that: only infinite love, mercy and humility. I am sorry you were brought to misunderstand the real believes of the Catholic Church 🙏🏻💕
GRA yes you are right.in buddhism we can question anything and there is a answer for everything.look what buddha told about conversions.so , buddhism is the phylosophy which gives the most freedom of thinking and questioning .
@@miri4105 what you say is beautiful, and the way it should be. The way Christ wanted it to be. Unfortunately not the way it is. If you can love others as thyself, see the divine in all things, and not judge ( which is probably the hardest rule) then you don’t need the RC church. All the answers are deep within ones heart if only one had the eyes to see. Please don’t be one of those who will not see.
As for me the teachings of the Buddha brought this into focus. If you judge me you’re braking the rules.
@gra6649 To be fair, that passage about judging others doesn't mean no judgement ever on anything. There absolutely is judgement in Christianity and we are called to make necessary judgements on ourselves and others all the time.
One of the top 10 New Testament quotes of Christ that get pulled out of context frequently.
Jesus explicitly states He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man anywhere comes to the Father but through HIM. Jesus also implies there are other ways to get to the Father but anyone who attempts a way other than through Him, he will be treated as a thief trying to climb up the walls of Heaven and stealing something not granted to them. They will be destroyed..... 👀
ANYWAY, I just was attracted to your comment. I find myself floating between my Christian Catholic faith I was born into and practiced heavily and Eastern religions, particularly Buddhism. I went to Catholic school. I was an altar boy and seriously considered the priesthood. I never went in though because my parents made fun of me often for my zealousness. So I got off that train, got into girls and the military. ...and off I went there.
Growing up as devout Roman Catholic, I also simultaneously practiced various martial arts since 5 years old. I had instructors that were of Asian ancestry and immigrants that came from Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, etc.
So I lead this kind of duel religious life. My faith and loyalty was always rooted in the Church and Christ but I also heavily dabbled and studied in Eastern religions..... dare I say even practiced. Kundalini, yoga, various meditation, etc
Even to this day at almost 40 years old I find myself torn between these two worlds. There is something about Buddhism and meditation that is extremely fulfilling, peaceful,.... hard to put into words.
All Buddhist must see this, fr. Please preach to all the Buddhism.
😂😂😂No thanks
I was against God e v e r y way you can imagine. It took me 20years to feel His Love for us. I dropped dead and every breath I have and live for is HIM NOW! The world only sucks your life and spit you out. God love is greatest. I believe in every Word, and live my life happiest ever even I am homeless now, lol. JOY and Peace is what the world cant offer you, only God.
Come home my brothers and sisters. Im waiting to see you with me there.
Strange to speak like this, if you knew Buddhism, you would know karma and there would be no question. It is not a question of Buddhism being inadequate, but of the one's ability to comprehend. Please don't blame Buddhism.
1. Apparently he knew nothing about Buddhism at all to say the least for him to confuse her sisters' sufferings to the 'existence of sufferings' spoken by Buddha. .
2. And for him to blame Buddhism for the side-effects of the steroid his sister took for her athritis and her hip replacement due to the fall and her Deep Vein Thrombosis !
3. And to confess that he was living in darkness for his past 35 years before becoming a Christian? Meaning, all his knowledge about the world and life, moral etc. taught by his parents, teachers and friends fell on deaf ears all this while ? I cannot believe.
I'm sorry but this comment was not made by me. I have never even watched this vid b4 and I have no idea who used my acc.
tamingthetiger.com.
Brian? Who is he didnt blame buddhism.
Jesus healed his sister. I would have converted also.
I request all of my christian and buddha brother that they should study the holy Quran and got original teachings of god and achieve success in long run
I’m sorry, but the Roman Catholic Church must face up to the fact that it has committed the gravest of crimes against the innocent (Is. 11:6, Matt.18: 2-6, Matt.18: 10, Matt.25: 45, Mark 5: 22-43, Mark 7: 24-30, Mark 9: 14-27, Mark 9: 36-42, Mark 10: 13-16, Luke 17: 1-2, Luke 8: 40-56, Luke 17: 1-2, John 4: 46-52). Disfigurement of the Soul is a crime that simply cannot be forgiven here on Earth by men.
I am very mercy to you ,coz you don't no a knowledge about Buddhism,we Buddhist not believe in god ,why god to much gap between poor and rich, why this planet some are happy some are not ,Buddhism believes in karma ,if your previous life can good compassion then this life good if not then do this life chance to try a good compassionate
Jesus is complete love and compassion and light, may He have mercy on you for choosing buddha and not believing in Him.
I say this out of love.
Toomany. UwUs. I also feel compassion for Christian (confused being).
Its catholicism.
There's not such thing as Roman catholicism.
Sooooo sad it's your superstation ,blind superstation is not good
The moment that you talk about faith healing.....
YOU START LYING!!!!!!
WenLi not really.
Depending on the perception of others, but not a lie to the person who experience the healing.
God is real, and we only experience him transforming us if we open our life to his love.

Hey, some free sermons here for all, please give them a listen: remnantofgod.org/sdrhome.htm
It is called free will just because they didn’t obey doesn’t mean you can also disobey you will be judged by your actions and your actions alone not of others that’s why we come out alone and we die alone. May God Bless and lead you to the right church that Jesus Christ founded not protestant churches founded by man.
The only light in Christianity is in Catholicism
