Video shot and edited by Jeff Lange.
I love it when the cowboy sings "We'll Meet Again" right before his departure in 11:44 :')
Most emotional 26 minutes of my life😭How could they get rid of a ride like this? It was called the great movie ride because it was GREAT.
Stephanie Ann yeah but the new ride is gonna be better
Kei Sil no
Jordan Taylor yes Mickey and Minnie run away rail road is gonna be fire
I prefer the classic!

The show must go on. The show must go on. Inside my heart is breaking, my makeup maybe flaking but my smile stays on.....
im a film student now, no wonder i loved this ride so much as a kid
R.I.P The Great Movie Ride
I remember one time my Mom and I dragged the rest of our family on this... I forced my sister to sit where I knew she would get scared by the alien. It was awesome, because my plan worked! She didn't annoy me for the rest of the day! XD
How lucky you are😂😔
I love that ride but hate the alien. I never saw it cause i was to scared. Good times. 🥺
i remember riding this in 2013 in florida. the cast members interacted with us a lot since we got the front seats, even noting that we commented on a lot of the features (ie mary poppins and her magic bag, where we said we wondered if she had some food we could eat in it since we were hungry and the guide remarked "well, she had a plant in there, so food's not out of the question", as well as the alien part where we got blasted in the face and i smelled something eggy and plugged my nose and the gangster looked at me and said "stinks, don't it? that's an alien for ya.")
i'll miss this ride so much.
Me to one time I was riding and a cast member told me WHAT DID U TOUCH I SAID I TOUCHED THE RED BUTTON SO WE CAN GET OUR TOUR GUIDE BACK HE SAID OH YEA AHHH LOVE IT I WILL MISS IT
I watch this and cry every day
Of all the rides and attractions in any of the Disney parks, this was the only one, and I mean the only one that I never wanted to close
This was one of the attractions I didn't want to close the others being rock n rollercoaster tower of terror test track star tours muppet vision 3d sorin mealstrom journey into imagination with figment grand feasta tour spaceship EARTH Living with the land and this dinosaur and Expidition Everst small world Peoplemover and more I will miss it
That's because you can never beat those awesome hollywood vibes, it made the park feel like it wasn't ALL Disney, it was REALLY a trip into movies, into REAL Hollywood, and nothing can compare to the broadness, to the beauty, and to the vibes that this incredible ride, that will forever inspire me to keep climbing, has shown to all who ride it.
I’m so thankful me and my mom got to ride it this past January, she absolutely loved it, it was her first time riding it, and was so sad it went away. RIP Great Movie Ride, you will be dearly missed.
Totes1829 me to it was a 1:30 min wait but I'm glad we would have never gone on it ever
Very sad. I don't think the new Mickey ride will do justice to this one.
Agreed- while it's nice that Mickey finally gets his own ride but the whole screenfest layout and the animation style they chose is just pure awful. So I highly doubt it.
The Bazinga just what i was saying which i am glad mickey and Minnie can get there own ride finally they could have built it in a separate building Florida has all that space WDW has all that space Disneyland doesn't have that much space so that is why they replace stuff
Susan S. They have references to this one in Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railway.
Man, the closure of this ride really depresses me... It was one of my favorite rides in Hollywood Studios. But alas, I haven't been able to get back there since it was known as MGM. It will truly be missed.
Just a head's up, this was not the final ride! There was one more behind it! It was however, the final Western show, which is also special. The cast member behind you took the final show with his family and The Great Movie Ride's biggest fan on it
Thanks for the info and I changed the description to say final public ride with Western scene. That is awesome that the CM was able to take his family on the last ride, much deserved I'm sure as all the CM's that night were amazing! - Jeff
GrimGrinningGhost what do u mean western show
-_-
@@DanielMazz there were two different versions of the great movie ride you could get the western or the gangster. most of the time I got the gangster but I started getting the western one later on in the 90s
This makes me so emotional😫 I can't believe they're takin this away😔 this is one of my favorite rides in Disney😭💔
I still don't understand why they are taking away the park's iconic ride ... There's room for the new Mickey ride over at the totally wasted space at former art of animation...at least we can still see the movies from the golden age...Thanks for posting this ride unedited...I have some great memories there and no one can take those.
Tower Of Terror became more iconic.
And the narrator for the ride, Robert Osborne passed away in 2017 before they announced the closure
The theme of the land is changing and Disney doesn’t need TCM or MGM anymore. Disney has moved on from Hollywood Studios being a celebration of Classic Hollywood and rather is shifting into the undoubtably more profitable “Movie Land” type model where they make immersive whole lands based off of properties and universes they own outright and don’t have to pay licensing for.
Just think this. Disney has acquired Marvel, LucasFilm, Fox. They own some of the most iconic pieces of cinema and are going to capitalize on it, Trust me when I say there will be a marvel land, there will be a simpsons attraction, new things are coming, Disney will negotiate the theme park rights with Universal and if Universal doesn’t play ball, Guess who’s next in the list of Disney acquisitions? You can bet on it.
The reason why Disney got rid of this attraction is because the animatronics were old and the movie references were outdated
I wish they never got rid of this ride, a phenomenal ride
The Great Movie Ride was my favorite ride I can't believe going to be gone I had a lot of memories of that ride because I felt like you went back in time.😔😔😔😢😢😢😭😭😭
here's a tribute to The Great Movie Ride LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION😎👍✌💖💗💡📽🎬
Ikr
I think they are going to change around Splash Mountain too. Making it different inside of it.
I will miss this ride
Emotional. And very sad. We should have had both this and the Mickey LPS ride.
marni1971 truth
Yep we should! maybe they will bring it back
Yes
NO! Did you not know that this was the first Mickey ride?!
@@theaubreycoxytpsandunivers7274 yeah but this ride has been around for 28 years and it’s considered a classic so of course people will be sad to see it go
THATS ME!!!!! I’m the guy in the hat!! Thank you for getting this!!!
Ron Gross how did u get tickets for the last ride
I'm glad that I got to see it last year.
I'll miss you, the great movie ride all the way from Japan!
RIP The Great Movie Ride
Tear jerker for sure. That was an awesome ride. Great memories. Tfs.
Here I am three years later, still crying over this video.😔
This Mickey and Minnie ride better be kick ass.
Look at the video of it on UA-cam.
while it didn't really kick ass, i actually kinda liked it. i still think great movie ride was better, though
I was fortunate enough to go on this ride soon following it's debut in 5/89. The "Footlight Parade" scene was operating as a human waterfall. There was no screen, either.
The best ride
Hope they bring this back, what could make it more exciting is that the ride could maybe speed up at specific moments to give the sense of danger suspense and thriller.
This ride was open 20 years before I was born I was born in 2009 lol I only rode this 15 times at the years 2009-2016
Conspiracy thoery: Disney replaces classic attractions with new ones for two reasons, one so that they get an influx of visitors on closing season and two so that said visitors will make youtube videos and talk about the closing to their friends so that people will be aware of the new attraction in other words millions of dollars worth of free advertising
Anyone else got a bit misty-eyed at the end?
yes

This was the best last ride video out of them all. Very well done! Thank you for letting us take this last ride with you!
How wonderful was it to be right in the middle of the wizard of Oz? Everyone loved that moment.....it brought your childhood to life!!!
How could they get rid of that and steal that away from the hearts of so many, you watch these videos......kids from 9 to 90 came alive and started clapping and singing along.
To be replaced by a crummy Mickey's railroad that would fit better in the magic kingdom......it has nothing to do with the movies or Hollywood.
Even though this is sad, that’s what happens. “Good things must come to an end”.
Screw that! Eisner and Iger said that so many times! This ride will live on!!
do you mean, like it will always be remembered?
I Was A Tour~Guide For The Great Movie Ride For The Grand~Opening I LOVED That Job I Worked There For 9 Months It Was AMAZING!!!
My favorite movie is Mari Poppins...it looks GREAT! But it had to close... it's been around for a good solid 8 years (now it's 10)... it wasn't bad, they just had to pay for a huge tax........I never rode it but I'm sure everyone else enjoyed it. Your joy is my joy and I'm happy you all rid it happily.
So glad I got to ride this
Thank you for this video - I'd been looking at all the others uploaded by the bigger outlets like WDW Today and Inside the Magic, but they didn't do a full ride through from line to close the way you did. Exactly what I was looking for since I couldn't make it down before the closing! Sad to see part of my childhood go, but at least they aren't changing the front of the building!!
Thanks! Jeff has been videotaping the parks for over 27 or so years now and always puts a lot of time and effort into our videos, especially last day type videos like this one since it's a documentation of history. We may not be as big as some, but I am happy with our 230k YT subscribers and everyone who has followed us for 10+ years. I am sorry you didn't make it down, there wasn't a lot of notice before closing - I am also glad the exterior isn't changing significantly, or it doesn't seem to be. Denise
So sad is gone
10:35 R.I.P. Alien
MK1MonsterOck1989 That was my favorite part of the ride :(
That was one of my Favorite parts
Great Ride That Will Be Missed! It is sad the car was NOT full and they kind of shoved everyone out in the end !
Thank you so much for sharing this 😊
I'm going to miss this a lot when I visit in May
this was marvelous and heart warming. Hard to believe they replaced this amazing ride with a mickey mouse cartoon.
So sad. Glad my family was able to ride it in May. Didn't realize they were closing it down! 😞❤️
same here :(
I’ve only rode this ride probably 3 times (been to disneyworld 3 times) and this video got me crying lol. Splash mountain is set to close in a few days and I’m crying over it because I wanted my kids to have atleast one memory on that ride like k did as a kid, and remember the crow saying I’ll show you a laughing place, scaring me before the last fall. When we went to Disneyland my oldest daughter was to short to ride, and my second daughter was still a baby. They both can ride it now, well my 6 year old can for sure. My 4 year old
Might be right under the hieght. We wil probably be going on March. I wish they would extend it a couple more months 😭😭😭
god i miss this place
Last time i rode this was in 2004, brings back such great memories. My fav was Ripley and aliens!!
This ride is still so much better than runaway railway
😢
Simplemente emocionante! Espero volver a Hollywood Studios en algún futuro.
I miss this ride!
I wish I went on this ride.
God I miss this ride. I wish they'd never closed it. I've seen the new Mickey and Minnie ride and I'm not impressed. They could've at least used classic Mickey. The new ride is not nearly as much fun as The Great Movie Ride was. Such a shame. I cried watching everyone clap for the last ride and seeing people be emotional as they left. It truly was a beloved ride.
OMG! The girl in the pink dress who looks into the camera at 3:11 , that's Emily Sakaab. She was a GMR tour guide which is why she was emotionally hugging the cast member.
I wish I been on it my first time going to Disney world was in 2022
I know they aren’t but I was really hoping they were lying about the new Mickey ride and instead we’re giving the ride an intensive renovation where maybe they were adding new movies
Never forget what they took from us.
Okay. This is in some parts much better! Like the western scene is amazing! Maybe it was a better idea to just update the tech instead of getting rid of it.
I don't understand. why did they take this ride down why couldn't they leave it up. the last time I went on that was in October 2016 with my sister. I loved the wizard of oz part in the ride.
12:14 Croud: *cheering*
Im saw sad that i wonted to dee the great movie ride before it closed i guess its to late but let it be remembered"The ride through the movies
I’m still so sad that this ride is extinct. Whatever you want to call it.
i just hate the part when everybody gets off the ride and starts balling knowing they will never be able to rekindle these memories and share them with future generations to come. it’s really sad because i myself was never able to ride this ride and i don’t think disney could try and remaster a ride like this with the cast member interaction like they had. it’s simply tragic. R.I.P😞☠️
Yea I would have been in tears that whole last day ... its hard enough when you do a play Rehearsals and all for like 3 months and when its over your sad so take that feeling of family and friends you work with for like years there and then the announce we are cutting this awesome ride for some BS cash grab. Just sad its the same thing they did to Phantom Theater at Kings Island!
what a shame, Walter Disney used to love history. So, I don't know why now they are closing unique attractions like this one.
one thing about Disney why they can't Closed down at the end of the year?
How come the final car wasn't even full? What's up with that?
Brandon this is probably filled with staffs. Maybe
This was towards the end of the night. (Im the guy with the red shirt and the hat!)
Do you live in florida?
20:19 1, 2 Freddy’s Coming For You
The guy with the dear Evan Hansen shirt 💀
I hate they closed this ride. they had room to leave it. and this may actually be popular at tokyo disney or shanghai disney if they opened a replica ride.
I was wrong.
What happened,
2012: Snow White ride ends, New mine train added in 2014!
2014: Maelstorm water ride ends, New Frozen ride added in 2016!
2017: Great Movie Ride Ends,😭 New Mickey ride in 2018 or 2019.
PREDICTIONS FOR THE FUTURE
2020: Expedition Everest ends, 🙂 New African roller coaster! And then, in
2025: ALL DISNEY WORLD PARKS INCLUDING THE NEW ONE CLOSES FOREVER!!!! And a new Texas Disneyland arrives!
These are just predictions! I am not saying it will happen, But those are interesting ideas!
The parks aren’t gonna close forever
Expedition Everest is one of Disney World’s iconic rides. So, it’s not gonna close.
TrollsFanatic 2004 what if they get out of business and not make enough money?
Disney World is still getting enough money! You don’t have to be dramatic just because the good rides closed down. Some replacements can be good.
Not true Disney world and Disneyland gets way to much crowds to close and everst is one of animal kingdoms iconic rides so there not gonna close that
You have a lot
Well, what's gonna take it's place?
“Mickey And Minnie’s Runaway Railway” which is expected to open at the end of 2019.
25:12 is that tom from wdwnt
Did anyone else see Tom from wdwnt on the same car
You
What are they turning it into
mohawk dude Mickey and Minnie's run away railway attraction
What’s next, the carousel of progress?
how could they get rig of this smh
They are making a mickey mouse ride
I miss this ride
Get rid of it for Guardians Of The Galaxy. No
Um your talking about ellen
Hey Disney, u guys are terrible after Walt died. I don't like the new imagineers. Tower of terror and now this. Stop removing good stuff. Walt doesn't want this. I know good rides, but u remove them too. I bet the replacement is gonna be bad.
Walt wasn't even alive for the majority of Disney World, so most of what we have wasn't his idea
Tower Of Terror is still Hollywood Studios.
Disney World already took out Snow White,Maelstrom,The Backlot Tour,Universe Of Energy, and Mr Toad.
@@southparkboyproductions6040 thank gosh they took out ellen that ride was really boring
@@jaydenchrist6152 you also can't forget about what happened with ellen recently.
I wish Rock’n Roller Coaster ended, That is the worst ride in the park!! 😥
Why? Rock N Rollercoaster was awesome!!!! It’s also iconic. Maybe someday they’ll announce the closure. But it ain’t gonna happen anytime soon.
NO LEAVE ROCK N ROLL ALONE
what are you talking about? rock'n rollercoaster is awesome.
Disney just keeps going down hill.
No. It’s not.
stfu about the ride being "the great movie ride because it was G R E A T"
JUST APPRECIATE THAT IT WAS OPEN FOR A BIT
ITS A GOOD RIDE STOP MAKING IT MORE DRAMATIC THAN IT ACTUALLY IS-
not an insult, im trying to say that its a good ride
so boring
I respect your opinion
