I'm going live RIGHT NOW on Twitch to play some $5,200 and $1 tournaments. Watch here: www.twitch.tv/dougpolkpoker Did I mention that I'm giving away 5% of my profit this trip? I think maybe I forgot. Enter the giveaway here: gleam.io/gRP2S/doug-polk-scoop-giveaway
Why did he go all in with that 1st full house? chao ren had the straight. In the 2nd boat with 10's, he could have bet more to represent a bluff and chao ren could go for a check raise bluff?
On the plus side though his taste in music seems to have improved roughly 1000% percent since I last exchanged words with him (quite some years ago now). A lot of players who have the misfortune of thinking entering a tourney is anything like a good idea tend turn into whiny bitches fairly quickly, something this dude seems to have avoided. All in all, I'm almost tempted to give this video a thumbs up :)
2:48 as the beat drops, Doug proceeds to call and hits his flush. The combination of the song and Doug's face afterwards is just priceless. Almost looks scripted.
This isn't entirely true. You are actaully going to owe me about ~$3,000. Don't mislead people into thinking they arent going to be on the hook for the cash.
Very curious since bet sizing is a big deal. If they are preset, that's worth knowing, as well as if Doug chose them and why he chose those sizes. In a transition live to online poker, being able to size your bets with greater precision is a skill.
Bet sizes are less of a deal than you think. I have studied this a lot. If you bet bigger, the bluff costs more, but you get more folds, and if you bet smaller, you get more value more often, but get less folds." -Doug Polk, QnA episode 3. 2016
Not 100%. But bet-sizing is a topic that's more open in online poker: auto-buttons that everyone recognizes vs. being able to bet 12% vs. 12.3%, etc. If there's no "there" there, I'd be happy to know that those are what the platform uses.
Btw - pokerstars is taking a 3-5% cut of everything that's ever played on it pretty much. That's why it keeps its currency in USD despite not being legal there.
Doug i think you should have bet a little les when hittin the weel (3) at the turn at around 08:00 dont you think when seeing it back afterwards? Can you explain your betsizing over there please?
no its just his preferred betting buttons eg 29% of the pot, 42% of the pot .. he chooses his sizing based on the texture of the board for example 74% (bigger sizing on draw heavy boards)
Luke, thanks for the response. I get that those are his preferred percent-of-pot bet/raise defaults, but why set e.g. 42% as a default instead of something slightly larger or smaller? Is there any significance to those particular values?
Shmuel Goodman i guess its just some nice numbers. its not really important if u bet 42% or 44% but well...42 is always the answer. at least thats what im thinking. i have 42, 69, and 103. the First Two explain themself and 103 is just my fav Number.
Hey Doug, this is one of your new subscribers ^^ Would it be possible if you could do a video or a comment on your thoughts on the "Spin and Go" poker in Pokerstars? I use to make quite some money in it but lately im getting quite frustrated while playing it. Any video with some tips or thoughts on it would be really apreciated. Thanks! edit: found those videos ^^
spin and go games are too easy anyone can win them there not much skill or edge to them.. ofcourse you will always have a slight edge over some of the idiots, but id say most the guy that know there game are all on same level
Before I saw the result I was thinking 'why the hell are you not jamming 88 pre or with that good flop.... just an insanely hard hand to play out of position heads up
dough i love your stream bro I'm making final table but not finishing in top 3 plz upload a video how to play in final table with a bigger or shorter stake in final table will be a great help ty
bballgolf72 as far as im concerned in cash games the blinds dont go up and u have more bb's from beginning. i personally play cash headsup games wayy more aggressive then tourney ones. but i Think thats just my style
This guy thinks hes so good but in reality he has just run SUPER HOT his entire life, probably got his money from his family and now pretends he knows how to play poker. Also IDK if this tournament is even real money, a friend told me its actually fake to get views. Sad!
We don't need to tell you how skilled you are, Doug, that's why we are watching. But you did get some amazing cards in this one unlike the last few days.
I just put down my 3rd 20$ deposit got it up to 28, went all in on 3 A and the guy had a full house, im never ever playing this shitty stupid game ever again your game is a fucking joke and requires about as much skill as snakes and ladders, what a fucking rediculous game fucking utter waste of time.
Dude, in your videos you speak really quietly and then all of a sudden when you celebrate it's this insane jump in volume. I've got you turned up fairly loud just so I can hear your comments, and then it blows the fucking roof off when you do your celebrations. Could you look into normalising your audio, please. There is no time of day that's good to watch your videos for me, and I'm sure others will be experiencing same, even if they're not speaking up. Cheers.

I used to like this channel, but this guy not only SUCKS at tournaments, I am starting to think he has never beasted anything at all.
On the plus side though his taste in music seems to have improved roughly 1000% percent since I last exchanged words with him (quite some years ago now). Lmao you're right
That's right, dudes! Enter the giveaway to win 5% of NOTHING. Doug is bombing this SCOOP.
Well with it being 5% sometimes you gotta bomb in the SCOOP to confuse the fans god dammit! right babe?
PrettyBunny8450 Is it possible that FullFlush was right about doug being a loser in 2015 and on?
Murray Herts a true 5%er goddammit
we will owe him 5% of his losses
This isn't entirely true. You are actaully going to owe me about ~$3,000. Don't mislead people into thinking they arent going to be on the hook for the cash.
That smile at 2:53 tho
Question: What's with 29, 42, 56, and 74%? Any particular reason for those percentages? Same with the Big Blind ratios?
Very curious since bet sizing is a big deal. If they are preset, that's worth knowing, as well as if Doug chose them and why he chose those sizes.
In a transition live to online poker, being able to size your bets with greater precision is a skill.

Wasn't that specifically about cbets?
Not 100%. But bet-sizing is a topic that's more open in online poker: auto-buttons that everyone recognizes vs. being able to bet 12% vs. 12.3%, etc.
If there's no "there" there, I'd be happy to know that those are what the platform uses.
i love the passion. winning is fun and im glad u show emotion.
Felt bad for ChaoRen he just could'nt catch a break
U shouldnt feel to bad for him. He is one of the best and wealthiest high stakes players around...
still sucks though to run bad.
lmao from this video a fish would think he's complete shit at poker but in reality he's a beast
Doug, weird question, but where can I find the background music you're using for this video?
Btw - pokerstars is taking a 3-5% cut of everything that's ever played on it pretty much. That's why it keeps its currency in USD despite not being legal there.
i always support your moves...

Chaoren means superman in Chinese =] (超人)
Doug i think you should have bet a little les when hittin the weel (3) at the turn at around 08:00 dont you think when seeing it back afterwards? Can you explain your betsizing over there please?
I really enjoyed this stream video, I think it is what you do best.
What is the significance of your postflop options (29%/42%/56%/74%)? Are they related to the equity of certain draws?
no its just his preferred betting buttons eg 29% of the pot, 42% of the pot .. he chooses his sizing based on the texture of the board for example 74% (bigger sizing on draw heavy boards)
Luke, thanks for the response. I get that those are his preferred percent-of-pot bet/raise defaults, but why set e.g. 42% as a default instead of something slightly larger or smaller? Is there any significance to those particular values?

Great channel Doug, maybe you can analise the bluff from Moneymaker in Sam Farha in WSOP 2003, that's a great hand
isn't "no rake is best" a better name for the tourney?

Did you really look up and ask the Big Guy for help while you are gambling? What a good life!

edit: found those videos ^^
i would love some of this content too since im a Spin n Go reg. but Doug mailny focuses on cash games, so it probably won't happen :/
Look up Courtney Bee, he did an episode with her training her.
spin and go games are too easy anyone can win them there not much skill or edge to them.. ofcourse you will always have a slight edge over some of the idiots, but id say most the guy that know there game are all on same level

Doug could you talk about the difference between head up no limit in a cash game format vs a tourney format like this one? Is there much difference?
bballgolf72 as far as im concerned in cash games the blinds dont go up and u have more bb's from beginning. i personally play cash headsup games wayy more aggressive then tourney ones. but i Think thats just my style
You legit don't even NEED to know HOW TO PLAY, when you run like THAT. HAHA
Stu McNally haters gon hate
888 isn't available in Australia. Guess I beat 850 people by not losing $5 =P
Why not ? Just a year ago it used to be filled with Aussies ?
the govt banned online poker =(
That's positively unAmerican.... oh.
Then why are they so many Aussies on Stars? I think even Doug has an Australian flag against his alias on PokerStars.
we have til June I believe. Pokerstars is gonna milk it til that time.
Ok whats up with 1337?
RIP #SethRich
Michael round 1 and Ben round 2 does it get any worse lol.
No rake?! Come on...we all know more rake is better.
Woof Olliesmydog only a fish who can't beat the games wants lower rake!
doug is 1337? i didnt know that was still a thing!
He should really stop doing that, I've only seen him do it when he has a monster. Like Teddy with his oreos.
Yup knows how to play heads up no limit, hit every single fucking flop!

That's what I was thinking. Float with J,5 of diamonds and get runner runner.
This guy thinks hes so good but in reality he has just run SUPER HOT his entire life, probably got his money from his family and now pretends he knows how to play poker. Also IDK if this tournament is even real money, a friend told me its actually fake to get views. Sad!
Doug on a trolling spree. Everyone 🦆 😂😁
We don't need to tell you how skilled you are, Doug, that's why we are watching. But you did get some amazing cards in this one unlike the last few days.

what a play. call 3bet with J5s. call 2 barrel 434 Ts and get flush river. Rly stupid.
That 88 hand was awesome. He never has j8 or 86 and he bets kj on the turn so you read his value range as being very weak... WCGRode that guy!
easy game
!giveaway
just luck box
PogChaMPPPPPPPPPPPPP
How is ChaoRen so weak HU...omfg
Humberto Teixeira did you see how well Doug ran bro
if only he knew to raise less when he has super strong hands to allow his opponent to call
15th
I just put down my 3rd 20$ deposit got it up to 28, went all in on 3 A and the guy had a full house, im never ever playing this shitty stupid game ever again your game is a fucking joke and requires about as much skill as snakes and ladders, what a fucking rediculous game fucking utter waste of time.
If your actually serious, poker is not the game for you buddy, move on
1st
first
I don't get why Doug just shoves all the time
Luke braga he started shoving often when chaoren was very short stack, he does that to let the blinds chew his stack up
+Jordan Yandeau I know that but he also shoves on rivers when both players have over pot size bets left
it's simple...he wanted all of his opponents' chips so he could move onto the next one lol.
It's a tournament
+Doug Polk Poker but why not bett 50-80% of pot so u have a better chance of being called ?
Dude, in your videos you speak really quietly and then all of a sudden when you celebrate it's this insane jump in volume. I've got you turned up fairly loud just so I can hear your comments, and then it blows the fucking roof off when you do your celebrations.
