Scotty Moore and Carl Perkins Reminisce

  • Shorty after Scotty started performing again in the early '90s a documentary was produced about he, Elvis and Bill in the first year of performing, 1954-55. The company created an info-mercial with the intent of promoting the video by having Scotty and Carl Perkins sit and talk a bit about the content. The video was never released and Scotty and Carl were never paid (again). Scotty though had a copy of the info-mercial and has made the parts with he and Carl available to his fans on his website and myspace page. Scotty said this was better than the actual documentary. When Myspace changed their format the video was lost so we regenerated it for UA-cam. Several years ago someone copied it from Myspace and inserted some proprietary Elvis footage. We won't complain but we can't endorse it. Visit his website to learn a lot more of the history of that era.

Two of the most talented and kindest men that have ever been in the music industry. Scotty Moore and Carl Perkins experienced the rockabilly craze first hand and helped create the sound of it. .. A picture is worth a thousand words and the smiles on their faces says it all.

This is great! Two legends talking about and reminiscing about their incredible careers and about Elvis. He was lucky that Elvis covered Blue Suede Shoes which probably made him some good royalties because it was a million seller!

    • @mikefule330
      @mikefule330 4 роки тому +4

It was a million seller for Carl Perkins in his own right. Most people who aren't fans probably think of it as an Elvis song, but Carl had a massive hit with it. He was selling 20,000 copies a day and was number 1 on the Memphis charts for 3 months. Of course, since then, it's become a standard and almost everyone in rock and roll has had a go at it, and it is referenced in other songs too. Ask 100 non-fans to name 10 rock and roll songs and nearly all of them will include this song in the list. Ask 100 non-fans to describe Elvis, and half of them will think of him late in his career, overweight, wearing jumpsuit and sideburns. In my book, that means Carl left the greater legacy, even though he is less well known.

We had such a shitty record player, but still, it sounded very wonderful to us. I'm talking about the 50s in case anybody missed that. Scotty's guitar had an unbelievable sound that I can only compare to (and it's a different sound, but just as distinctive) Brian Setzer's Gretsch. All the other guitars are just meh. Even Les Paul's. Well, his was pretty good. I might include him in the bunch.

Elvis is still ALIVE !! That was NOT Elvis in that casket !
It was a Wax Dummy !
That is what was in the 900 lb Copper Casket along with a
portable cooling unit to keep the Wax from melting.Everyone that observed
the '' body '' in the coffin noticed that the forehead had '' beads of moisture ''.
Gene Smith, Elvis's 1st cousin, said that the Sideburns had been glued on
and kept coming loose! Gene also stated that one could feel the ''chilled air''
all around the casket that was coming from a cooling unit within the coffin.
When Gene asked Vernon where Elvis was , Vernon replied , '' He's safe,
Don't worry ,He's Upstairs resting. We had to put something on display for
the fans ! '' ELVIS did NOT Die on August 16, 1977 ! NO ONE is actually buried
there at the Meditation Garden in back of the Mansion. Only the top layer of
sod was removed for the placement of the Bronze Memorial plaques !
Those are just there for the Fans and the Tourists. All of Elvis' family members
that have done passed on are buried somewhere else in a undisclosed Private
Cemetery and ELVIS IS Very Much STILL ALIVE ! He never really stopped making
his music ! He has been recording and making music all this time .
He just can''t release any of his songs using his real name anymore because
of EPE,Inc. He has been using different alias ever since.Elvis Aron Presley
is sometimes Jon Burrows and several other various ''alias''.
He staged and faked his death with the help and knowledge of Col. Tom Parker,
Dr. '' Nick '' , Joe Esposito , and the FBI by doing a '' Body Swap '' with a Terminal
Bone Cancer patient Roscoe Scott Holloway of Germantown, TN
of whom Dr. Nichopolous had located. After some minor cosmetic surgery
they made Roscoe Scott Holloway look like Elvis, a ''double'' which fooled
the Paramedics , the hospital personnel and most family members.
Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, was a U.S. Special Federal Agent that worked undercover
in various '' sting operations '' against known members of the SDS Weathermen
Underground Terrorist Group. The SDS Weather Underground Terrorist Group
was responsible for numerous multiple bombings of Police Departments ,
Federal and State Court Houses and other public buildings during the 1960's
and 1970's. Charles William ''Bill'' Ayers was the SDS Leader of the Weather
Terrorist Group, along with his cohort Bernardine Rae Dohrn,
was a personal friend and Mentor to a one Barry Soetoro,
aka Barack Hussein Obama and it was the SDS Weathermen Underground
Terrorist Group that put Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Hussein Obama into
Politics and made him the Socialist Thug that he is and a threat to the American
way of life as we know it. Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, the name he used working
for the DEA and later for the FBI as a Special Federal Agent, was appointed
by the former late President Richard M. Nixon and Elvis, aka Jon Burrows,
worked as a Federal Agent from December 1970 until his official retirement
in December 2004. In September 1978 , Elvis, aka Federal Agent Jon Burrows
was the Government's '' Secret Witness '' in '' Operation Fountain Pen ''
and He testified in Federal Court against a well known member of the Mafia
Organized Crime Syndicate, a one Fredrick Peter Pro of the '' Fraternity ''
In September 1977, Elvis, aka Federal Agent Jon Burrows, entered the Federal
Witness Protection program where he stayed until July 1978.
Then Agent Jon Burrows, aka Elvis, returned to Washington D.C. where he
worked for the DEA and then later for the FBI Counter Intelligence Branch until
his official Retirement in December 2004, and ending 34 years of dedicated
Federal Service. Elvis, aka Jon Burrows was in the Federal Witness Protection
program because of past threats made by members of the SDS Weathermen
Underground Terrorist Group, Bill Ayers and past threats by certain key
members of the Mafia Organized Crime Syndicate, of which Agent Burrows,
aka Elvis took part in various undercover '' sting operations '' to indict and
bring them to Justice. All these facts are told in a documentary interview
that Elvis aka Jon Burrows, gave, recorded and released on a DVD in January
2012. Elvis, aka Jon Burrows, also recorded and released a brand new CD
of 15 songs in January of 2012. Both have been voice printed and authenticated
100 % as the voice of Elvis Aron Presley by Computer Voice Analysts Technicians.
Besides being a U.S. Federal Agent with the DEA and then later with the FBI ,
as appointed by the late former POTUS Richard M. Nixon on December 21, 1970 ,
Elvis was also a Bonded, Certified & Trained Deputy Sheriff with the Shelby
County Sheriff's Dept. Memphis,TN, since September 23, 1964 and Chief Deputy
since October 10, 1970 with Shelby County Sheriff's Dept .Elvis was also
a Reserve Police Captain in the Memphis PD , a Reserve Police Captain with
Denver PD and a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the LA County Sheriff's Dept.
He was nominated as One of the Top 10 Young Men in America by the
American Jaycees on January 16, 1971, not for his work as a Entertainer,
but for his dedication and work in Law Enforcement !!
A Fulton County Deputy Sheriff , GA , was on location at a very well known
Underground Wax Museum in Atlanta, Georgia on the week they were closing.
Vernon Presley and a couple of the guys that work for Elvis came in and
bought a lifelike life sized wax figure of Elvis, because it was all being
auctioned off. They made the purchase and on the way out the door,
Vernon Presley turned to the guy at the museum counter and said,
" Just Wait 'til you guys see what we're going to do with this " !

Incredible that Col. Tom Parker, a Dutch illegal immigrant who worked his passage to America then jumped ship with no passport wrangled Elvis's contract by getting business partner Hank Snow to come with him to Memphis to get Elvis's parents to sign. Elvis's mother was a Hank Snow fan the Colonel found out. A true swindler but Elvis didn't care cos Tom Parker made him rich and Elvis made Parker rich! Scotty should have talked about Parker talking Elvis into sacking him, Bill Black bassist and D.J. Fontana drummer.

I am not taking anything away from Elvis's innate talent but without Scotty's innovative and original guitar licks, I doubt Elvis would have progressed being anything beyond a good local country singer. I have listened to some all time great guitar pickers from Clapton, Knopfler, Burton etc and no one has come close to replicating Scotty doing Mystery Train.

I think you are insulting Elvis and are trying to take almost everything away from him. Proably Scotty Moore would agree with me. "Local country singer"!!!! He was not even back in 1953 a country singer but was much more open than your comment would suggest. They were other good guitarists at the Sun Studios like Roland Janes for example who is on most of the early Jerry Lee Lewis records and others like Cliff Gallup (Gene Vincent), Grady Martin or Hank Garland. It would have worked all out with these guitarists, too. Scotty was great but Elvis would be great with any other open-minded guitarist imo.
