- View from the vulture's nest on the USS Nimitz, taken during the Blogger Embark, May 2009. Most common question that I got showing the video is that the carrier is moving while the plane is landing. It needs to maintain a head wind of about 25 knots in order to launch and land planes. Also, the carrier is constantly shifting and adjusting course (see the related steering video).

They say the three greatest feelings one can have is landing in bad weather, an orgasm, and a good bowel movement.
And they say a nighttime, bad weather landing on an aircraft carrier is one of the rare opportunities to get all three at the same time.
that is so much harder than it looks... and it doesn't even look easy!
What makes you say its harder than it looks?
Well it obviously is.@@bensims7501
Yeah. It took me years to get it right .... on Fjight Simulator !!!
@@bensims7501have you done it ??

As a DCS fan, this is the hardest part to learn to master. But its as rewarding everytime you pull it off ✌️
performing an arrested landing..... the most difficult challenge int the world of aviation
10 years late, but do you remember if you forget about aerial refueling?
that was so awesome to epic!!
Does the carrier usually move against the wind when take offs and landings?
yes, they turn the boat into the wind to get max air over the wings to aid lift.
@@b.3397 Cool! Thanks!
Wow, he turned a might short final !
Yep, that’s normal for a case I landing, they do a pretty tiny circuit around the carrier and only stay in the groove (the final) for around 12 seconds I think
How fast is the jet going when it lands on the carrier deck?
"On speed" is the correct answer, but generally between 110 and 140knots. The reason they use "On speed" is because there are many factors, wind speed, carrier speed, weight, and probably more.
Primary aircraft weight
i heard that its extreely hard to land on a moveing carrier
You heard correctly.
We have the most impressive navy in the world🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
"The Final Countdown" was a great movie to have seen when I was a kid back then.
My old boat.

So if they lose the hook on their tail they can't land?
Most everything is opposite to conventional landing. You drop the a/c from a height to ensure hook engages a wire. But then you open power, just in case the cable snaps. Then you are called a BOLTER and have to go around.
There's an emergency barricade that can be set up in the case of a tailhook failure. Very unlikely that the tailhook is somehow lost in flight though. The barricade is generally used for damaged aircraft that may have trouble catching the wires when landing.
Wow 😳
I can tell you from experience you are the MOST FOCUSED and you’ve Never Concentrated on Anything so Hard in your Life.
The Key is to stay Calm and not Loose your Nerve.
Do a UA-cam search using the following:
(Crash on the USS LEXINGTON AVT-16 Oct-1989)
where he did that not so much
Wow
I always wonder what the guy with the telephone does.
A *Landing Signal Officer* (LSO) gives the pilot corrective instructions using what is essentially a telephone handset-style radio. Each LSO is a pilot, and each squadron in the airwing has at least one fully qualified LSO. Two airwing LSOs (called CAG LSOs) supervise the squadron LSOs
Take maju aj v Rusku nie? :D :D ale na dne
Betas the hell out of Cedar Point!
NAVAL AVIATORS GOT BALLS AS BIG AS THAT AIRCRAFT CARRIER.
CAN'T HEAR YOUUUUU WHAAAAAT
