I was initially going to to that too, but I bit the gear 2 hook -__- its not bad, but S Voice really sucks. It always says "I didn't catch that". The feature works whenever it feels like it. Everything else seems to work just fine though and the battery life is pretty good too. I might just end up selling it to a friend or something and get msyelf a moto 360.
Jose Colon I usually like to wait and watch a couple of reviews before making a purchase. This way I check out all available options available and kill time for the 1st batch of device to be delivered.
Mine told me I'd done a thousand steps before I'd gotten out of bed. I'd imagine any that used motion would give inaccurate readings. Maybe they should cross check with GPS to fine tune the data...
It's interesting how that Marques appears to be a right-hander who wears his watch on his right hand. Everyone that I know who wears a watch regularly wears on their non-dominant hand (usually the left).
Half way through the video when ***** said OK Google, Google Now actually activated on my Tab S 😂. At first I thought it was a part of the video but then after staring at the screen for a few seconds with nothing happening I realised the UA-cam App switched out for Now 😛 Well, the geek within me loved that moment lol :D
Great video thanks. My plastic Pebble worked well and looked Ok, but LG G Watch is much much better. Lovely display, more and better functionality, very nice design. LG got everything just right IMHO. I don't miss the Pebble display (can read the G watch well enough in sunlight). Don't miss the 7-day Pebble battery life (just drop the G watch onto its charging base at the same time I drop my phone onto its wireless charging base at night, pick both up in the morning). So LG + Android Wear went straight to #1 for me on release. Thats a good sign :)
Drop-in/lift-out self-centering magnetic-clamp charging cradle. As convenient as wireless charging. Anything else (like Pebble charging mechanism) gets annoying fast. LG seem to have avoided all such anoyances
I have a feeling I don't get your videos in my sub box... strange. -- But then it just feels like I'm a lucky gold digger when I check back on your channel every week. Keep it up!
Haha that's exactly it. That's why they're biding their time, let all the other companies figure it out, then release it to the public as Apple's new "innovation". To be fair though, I'm seeing a lot less people with iPhone's these days so I think their dominance may be nearing it's end. Haven't checked the figures but that's just the feeling I get.
IAmAPotato Films actually by everyone you mean less than 15% of people who use a phone, Android takes up roughly 85% of the market share so I have no idea what you are talking about
I can see why some people like smart watches, but honestly... I do not see the point. ALL of this stuff I can do on my phone which only takes an extra 1.5-2 seconds to pull out. That little bit of time isn't worth $200-$300 to me. However it would be nice to have a small little band or something that lit up certain coloured dots for different apps to tell you if you have a notification for those apps so you can know at a glance. A little like the Martian Notifier but cleaned up a little bit, to me they're heading in the right direction. But I guess that might just be me.
blucollectionfan9272 You could've just said "in my opinion smartwatches are unnecessary. Does anyone else agree?" This not only poses the chance for likes, but also for comments both for and against it.
Buck Nasty What are you talking about!? Apple made the first successful touchscreen smartphone then the first successful tablet and perhaps now the first successful smartwatch...
Buck Nasty What are you 8? 2007 and 2010 are not considered ancient history by any stretch of the word. There is an Android OS every 3 months. iOS updates every year, so no shit iOS will be behind. Look at Samsung trying desperately to copy the fingerprint scanner...
I was seriously just thinking someone should make a video comparing the range of smartwatches available. Flawless video as always ***** Still waiting on the perfect match for my HTC One M8.
The straps on these watches look cheap and no way fulfil the purpose of a watch. A watch is a fashion statement, a statement of status or wealth, not just a time checker. The watches don't look good enough to be nothing more than a geek toy. Hopefully, as usual, Apple takes the design front and makes a wearable device you want to wear.
I wonder if these will be allowed in schools? I mean it is a watch... If I buy one and then my schools ban them, I'm still going to wear it everyday. They're going to have to redefine what a watch is before I stop wearing it.
I'd say that these will not be allowed in schools, because they can be an easy cheating tool. I'm not getting a smartwatch anytime soon because of this.
Awesome video Marques! I can't wait to get my hands on the Moto 360. Question, with the Moto 360 being round as opposed to square, do you see the notification text needing to be small to allow for more words per line? I love the round design but I'm hoping we don't lose text size to accommodate the circular design. Thanks for posting this video. Peace V
Exactly. There are better things to buy than basically an extension of your phone for 200$+. Are we so lazy that its hard for us to reach into our pocket for our phones. Dont let companies make smart watches a thing.
It's not a waste of money, it's developing technology. It will eventually be more useful, it just takes time to mature. There's so many things I could think of that would make a smart watch useful, it'll just take time for it to reach its full potential.

Lucas Trugeda actually smartphones do things my brain can't. Like calculate an equation in a fraction of a second. And are you going to carry a laptop around with you? Not likely. But as it seems that you're all blinded by a shiny toy, as it stands today, there is NO PRACTICAL USE FOR THIS ACCESSORY. You don't need it, it doesn't make tasks any faster, and the voice recognition is still horrible so it won't understand you half the time. Oh and before you say the voice recognition will get better, guess what... It'll get better for the phone as well again canceling the need to have something like this. This can go into "oh we tried but their really is no need for this junk pile" with Google Glass. Disabling comments because you're all a herd of morons.
Great vid as always... While I do believe I would probably like using Android Wear, at this point I don't think I am ready. Or I'm at least going to wait. Couple reasons why: - I don't normally wear a watch so that would have to change - I just don't think there is anything too compelling about Android wear. Nothing that makes me think "wow that would be a really useful feature have. - Keeping my Tablet and phone charged is enough of a nuisance. I don't need a watch that's going to go dead on me. Think about you sleep out one night wake up and your watch is dead. One thing a watch shouldn't do is go dead. They need to last 48 hours with moderate to heavy use IMO.
I bought the Gear Live and I absolutely dislike the charging cradle, its so unfriendly. Should've went with the LG G watch instead. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait for the Moto 360. Yay! Great video Mr. Brownlee.
Am I the only one who has a dejavu when I see you saying and doing the arm motion to it at 6:10 starting... ? I think I already have seen you doing that :D but all in all, great video again. ima gonna think twice about buying a smartwatch
Nice quick coverage and summary. I've had a simpler analog/digital smartwatch for several years and it was addictive to use. Google Wear looks really interesting, but building it on Google Now with the OK Google command is going to be a challenge outside the English speaking world. Being a non native English speaker I tricked Google Now to understand my commands by switching to US English input on the phone. It worked for a while, but somehow then Google, "outsmarted" me and decided I'm based in a different country and thinks I'm speaking my language. It now texts well in my local lingo, but the commands in English aren't working reliably. It's a shambles, and since this change happened automatically I don't have control of my device. That's worse. If I'm going to spend on a smartwatch I will rely on it to be working all the time, and work well. It doesn't yet. In addition some commands work to start, but not to stop. For example "OK Google play music" works, but turning it off has to be done manually. If the music player is dismissed, the music plays on, and theres no way to stop it! No, Google have a bit of development to do, on the phone before it will work flawlessly, and before coming to my wrist it has to be reliable instead of infuriating.
Very honest review. I really want to like these, but the cost compared to taking my phone out of my pocket...functionality will need to improve before I bite the financial bullet, but one day I see myself with one of these, maybe second or third gen

Waiting patiently for the Moto 360...

Great review and presentation. I also noticed the picture of Big Ben in the background, so for both of these reasons = INSTANT SUBSCRIPTION! Cheers!
Some of the best reviews on youtube! Nice work.
i'm here in 2021 comparing old-school wearos vs now and the result is hilarious
Have you found most pedometers on the wrist are less accurate? Or just this one?

Is this a sign that Marques is on the hunt for a Girl?
ANSWER. MY. HANGOUTS.
Haha... I thought I was the only one who noticed the app. Well man can't live off of tech alone.
New video from Marques. Today was a good day.

You should get earphones or headphones
Loving the productivity the last couple of weeks, Marques! Great video as always.
It's interesting how that Marques appears to be a right-hander who wears his watch on his right hand. Everyone that I know who wears a watch regularly wears on their non-dominant hand (usually the left).
antuan goodwin I’m a lefty and I wear it on my left hand
You make the best matter of fact videos
LOOOOL!
At 3:38 when Marques says "Ok, google", my nexus 5 opened a panel for me to say a command xD

Everytime MKBHD says "OK Google" in this video my Google Mic Input comes up as well... LOL!
When you said, "Okay Google" at the 3:58 mark my phone responded. It caught me off guard haha.

You picked up the G Watch recently? Choice mate!!
Poor man's Glass :)
Well, I can't order pizza from it...
Not that I disagree, but what made you go the LG G Watch over the Samsung?
Got a photo of yours? :D
Drop-in/lift-out self-centering magnetic-clamp charging cradle. As convenient as wireless charging. Anything else (like Pebble charging mechanism) gets annoying fast. LG seem to have avoided all such anoyances
Thanks a lot. Was really waiting for a real video on this. I am too much exicited with the concept.
*Okay guys I need your help...*
Rolex or LG Smartwatch?
LG Smartwatch, or the Moto 360 if you're willing to wait. More functionality...
moto360
the price difference is about $10K. Troll much?

not for the average person? that is where apple hops on the wagon.
I know right! People buy stuff cause its by Apple. Damn I need to change SwiftKey setting for a bigger keyboard. I think that's better

Market share isn't the point here, apple made smartphones for average people when they weren't so dominant
Congrats on the honor of Best Technology Reviewer on the Planet!
how to fix the pedmoter issue: wear it on your non dominate hand
Marques, always show detailed presentation and i like it. Keep up the good work!!!!

You always make the best videos for tech
Was watching this video and when he said OK Google it activated it on my phone
Same! Lmao
I feel like you purposely were saying "OK Google". It tripped my google now each time haha. Great video!
360p..!? We're all sinners today
You idiot, all youtube videos have low quality the minute they come out because they still have to render.
Its hd now
I just love the videos you make they are on point and not so damn geeky like other ppl lol
Disappointing. Let's see what Apple can do....
dude i hope apple does not get into the smartwatch shit cause this is just useless

Your videos are great. A lot of info that we geeks are really interested in. Well presented. Great production values. Impressed.
The pedometer should be called the "Fapometer". Cos you know that was the real reason for those 2000 "steps"....
:p
They don't call him the best tech reviewer on the planet for nothing! Great informative video.
6:14 *insert masturbation joke here
When you said "OK Google" in this video, my Nexus 5 jumped into the Google Now window!! Lol! 😁
Think about doing an exam with this watch :D
*In an exam scenario* (GCSEs)

Im waiting for the Moto 360 it looks so good.
you should create an updated version of this video

I believe the moto 360 will have a metal band option that looks really nice. I agree these cheap looking bands are dumb.
You can change the strap
I use my watch to check the time. Fuck me, right?
Mixlop I also wear a watch to check the time, BUT... how I choose to buy a watch is 99% by its look. So yeah, design counts a lot on watch.
S. Hafeez haha
When you said "OK Google" at 3:41 my phone literally closed the UA-cam application and went straight to the Google now app waiting for a command...XD
I wonder if these will be allowed in schools? I mean it is a watch... If I buy one and then my schools ban them, I'm still going to wear it everyday. They're going to have to redefine what a watch is before I stop wearing it.

max7312xdx In exams any form of device that has memory, isn't allowed.
that's why the moto 360 comes in handy...
Kieran Steadman AP stats exam you can use graphing calculators. Which store memory
Well they aren't watches. They are smartwatches. Pretty sure smartwatches are banned. Not watches.
Love your videos, please upload them more frequently
Looks pretty shitty next to the new Apple Watch!
Trololoololololllololol
It looks different Now and on the moto 360 it looks insane and also you can get full google chrome in it more than you will on apple watch
Awesome video Marques! I can't wait to get my hands on the Moto 360.

Useless waste of money
It's not that it's useless it has some use but for the price In my opinion it isn't worth it
Exactly. There are better things to buy than basically an extension of your phone for 200$+. Are we so lazy that its hard for us to reach into our pocket for our phones. Dont let companies make smart watches a thing.
***** when im at work we cant have are phones out but having this will keep me connected with my phone without pulling it out
Thats not a bad use for it.
It's not a waste of money, it's developing technology. It will eventually be more useful, it just takes time to mature. There's so many things I could think of that would make a smart watch useful, it'll just take time for it to reach its full potential.
Hahaha. Was watching the video on my Nexus 5. At 3:41 when you said "OK Google" my phone started detecting the voice coz of the "Listen on all screen feature".
This is such a gimmick in my opinion. I really can't see these being mainstream. Just pull your phone out, it's really not that time consuming stop trying to make it out to be.
And just bring your laptop and camera with you when you need to use internet outside and take photos.

While I do believe I would probably like using Android Wear, at this point I don't think I am ready. Or I'm at least going to wait.

Haha. I watched the video on my phone and when you said "ok google" at 3:37 you activated my Google now voice search!
The Neptune Pine project on Kickstarter was a great smart-watch.
That Hangouts notification tone at 7:02. =D
Really good review, good to see it working up close without advertising cgi haha, thanks very much for taking the time to review
Don't like android but a fan of your videos. So I'll give it a like 👍
Ordered a LG G Watch the other day looking forward to it for my line of work outside of Geek land
Always great to see your videos. Have you tried or considered trying some of the Martian Smartwatch? Would love to hear you thoughts on that :).

Ha ha.. At 3:41 when Marques tells "Ok Google", my phone stops the video and opens Google Now :-)
You rock man. As always. Thanks for the video.
My Note 3's Google search activated right when he said "Ok google" lol

I see you with that hangouts notification at 7:02 lol
Can you believe talking to your watch was sci-fi back in the day, and now it's a reality? It just blows my mind how far we've come.
