A few years back me and my step dad were heading to body beach from Kingman and got a flat in yucca , didn’t realize we didn’t have a spare tire in the truck lol he pulled up out of nowhere in his service truck , plugged the tire , aired it up and didn’t charge a dime just wanted to help . Happy Sunday guys! This was an epic video!! Merlin never disappoints with what he is up to! Using that air chisel to cut out the floor was epic 💪 you can tell he's surely done that a few times! I've always wanted to convert my 'ol square body to stick shift, this fella makes it look easy! Thanks for sharing!

My uncle got a nice 2nd gen 1ton with a Cummins and a 5spd. He did a bunch of work to it. Im not crazy about the 2wd, but that truck can pull anything
Ur a good man making sure he is completely squared away instead of saying its his problem for buying a bad 1. Even if ur getting paid to go into it. Well worth it
My 70+ yr old doctor has 1, Manual & all. South FL= no rust. Has tagged few things, poles, etc.

Merlin's knowledge is unbelievable. But, on the other hand I think part of these awesome videos is buddy's and town people helping each other out. I live in a neighborhood and don't know anyone.
I can remember back to my childhood when all the neighborhood dads were fixing problems and comparing lawns, while us kids tried to be Evil Knievel on our BMX bikes.
Have a 97 12 valve with a built auto. Still would prefer to swap in a 6 speed. Great video.

My brother used to have an 04 5.9 with a 6 speed. Impressive combo & worked great as a 3 speed (2-4-6).

Differently prefer manual, where I live in St. Louis area , it also means your vehicle is less likely to be stolen if you have a manual, all mine are

I've been wanting to do this to my 2Wheel Drive 2004 Cummins since the 2nd year I've owned it!!
The truck doesn't even have 2,00,000 miles on it yet and I've had the transmission out 3 times, reworked valve bodys,Borg Warner upgrades, the numerous other elctrical,solenoid and band adjustments/repairs,and reflashed the PCM and ECU several times(every other summer) and to this day I still don't trust it.
The problem is here in Southern California I don't trust anybody to do the swap and I don't feel comfortable doing it myself but would gladly pay for it to be done by the right person so I can keep the truck as long as the engine would last instead of having transmission problems every 2nd or 3rd summer before I just throw in the towel and get rid of it!!!

4 simple bolts and one wire connector. Makes it wayyyy easier to get under the dash.

9:49 😂 like the Monte Carlo when I was 17. Put a 3speed in it. Reverse was where first would be, 2nd is 1st, and if u wanted reverse lights still we had to shift it on the column to R 😂 😢
Not to cramp your style my friend but one trick I've learned over the years, especially because I'm a LOT older, is to remove the seat. It doesn't take long and it keeps leg and shoulder cramps o a minimum. Love the show!!

It don't look that bad but it's hell to rewire everything & the smell stay's there even if you rip everything out & rebuild it ! I got a 1987 class A with the 454 with only 55k on it i'm the 3rd owner & been fixing it up a bit every year & this summer i got go through brakes shocks & mount mew tires i bought for it 3 years ago Then it ne road ready !

Who in your family made the transmission gods angry? Paul seems to be suffering the most.😂 The rats chewed a hole in the fuel line on my 96 12 valve. Fortunately I was standing next to it while my brother was starting it and got it shut down before I pumped the tank dry. My coworker’s son is starting to learn to be a diesel mechanic. The shop he’s working at is making him work on motor homes. I’m sending him the link to your free motor home video. He is learning some new words 😂.
My 97 dash did the same thing twice I took one out of a 2000 model and wired the whole dash an never had one issue after that . Even the headlight switch stopped melting when I was done .

There's a place here in Colorado that has an Alison trans swap kit thats really slick. Look at ATS transmission

Yeah I prefer manual transmissions as well. I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup and a 2013 Ford Focus both have manual transmissions. Of course the manual transmissions are really hard to find in today's automobiles, Unfortunately my pickup has developed an electrical problem that I can't figure out. If it sets more than a couple of days without being driven the battery dies.

Merlin, do you have any idea how much I appreciate a manual transmission guy? Every single vehicle I have is a manual. You might imagine they’re pretty old now. Let the ladyboys have their automatic transmissions! You go to Europe and everything is manual. I was looking in a limousine in Spain, manual!

First time I did one of those 5speed's I was amazed at the lack of splines in the factory fifth gear ⚙, designed to fail? Sure does when you chip the thing.
May want to contact Robby layton ask him if he needs an LS for his recovery track it would be a major upgrade to the engine it currently has.
