    • @rioforce
      @rioforce  2 роки тому

      @@a.tbrickproductions4600 Panning refers to the rotation of a camera on an axis. But there are other types of camera motion too, like Dollying, Trucking, Tilting, Zooming, Handheld, and a few more. I recommend looking them up, they’re very interesting to learn about!

      An image editor is suitable if you have no budget, You just have to do it one frame at a time. Something like GIMP or Photoshop Elements (which is cheaper than regular PS). Otherwise, AE would work, but I haven't personally used it. You can probably use Davinci Resolve to mask things pretty easily, if you know the program (I don't, so I can't help there). It's free, though, so worth looking into.

    I'd say that 180-Degree rule is a mistake. It makes the scene stiff and feel like it's just talking heads. Not something you want in most situations.

    • @rioforce
      @rioforce  2 роки тому

      Respectfully disagree. While not a hard and fast rule, without it, scenes can be extremely jarring, especially during two-shot dialogue scenes, which is its most general application. You can easily work around the rule by showing the logical progression of the camera from one side to the other. Just flipping sides suddenly disorients the viewer, as there is no point of reference for the viewer to ground himself with.

    • @mattpace1026
      @mattpace1026 2 роки тому

      @@rioforce I think you might have some serious bias, man. I've heard dozens of others-some directly involved in cinematography and some not-talk about this topic, and I have never heard anyone other than you make the claim that the static scene is better. It's usually the opposite, as a matter of fact.
      Yes, there are plenty of situations where a static scene is called for, but those should be kept to a minimum, as repetition of such stiff moments gets boring quick.
      As for the "jarring shift" part, I really don't understand where you're coming from with that, unless you have no understanding of 3D space or object permanence.

    • @rioforce
      @rioforce  2 роки тому +1

      @@mattpace1026 LOL do you even understand the 180 degree rule? i never said anything about a static scene. Go watch a two shot conversation where the camera constantly changes sides of the action and be jarred. Heck, here's an example right here. Imagine this crap for a whole film: ua-cam.com/video/ps175Ocz0SE/v-deo.html
      Maybe you just have a thing for being defiant and hating "rules" (which are more just guidelines of how to make a not unwatchable film), idk. But the rule isn't about making things boring, it's about making it cohesive. Breaking the rules is fine, it's just gotta have logic behind it.
