Hands down the most brutal longevity/durability test I've seen on a optic. His results speak volumes about the quality of the optic. Trijicon should be sending him all their optics for eval and testing. Plus they should be sending him a replacement for free and thanking him for the sales he just generated. Incredible testing!!
I’ve trained with many of the greats, with over 500 formal training hours on the range and in a classroom; I can’t believe it’s taken this long for you to reach 82k subs. You’re a real class act, I’m looking forward to taking a class from you in the future. Thanks for all the great content over the years!
I wouldn't say his is abused necessarily. I've seen worse from guys truly abusing them. The button rubbers were hanging off, glass was all scuffed up like they took a nail and hammer to it etc.
My carry guns both rock type 2 RMR's but my range toy has a DPP. I know it didn't hold up to abuse but when you can find them for under $300 they are a great "range" optic, IMHO.
@@PleadTheFifth_Racing my carry is my competition. Until I get to the point where I can hit what I aim at without much thought or effort, almost reflex type, I will not use anything else. That's just my ridiculous mindset.
I’m really surprised the one thing that did it break was the LED emitter glass. That broke on me in a fall. It still worked fine I just got a bit of bloom and inconsistent dot shape. Trijicon fixed it no questions asked and 5k rounds later it runs perfect. RMR or irons for duty use. . . No exceptions in my book.
Loved this video!!! Hands down the best long term reliability and ruggedness test out there. Deciding on getting the RMR for my new carry setup was a no brainer after watching this. I am quickly loving my M&P with this mounted.
Your videos on the RMR type 2 led me to get one. I've got just under 3k rounds through it now and it's been flawless so far. It doesn't have quite the abuse on it like yours of course 😂 Thanks for all you do Aaron
I have a Zev 19 slide and have return to zero with battery changes. Its super nice to have tight fits like that. I have a lone wolf slide and there is quite a bit of slop by comparison.
If this doesn't sell Trijicon RMRs, I don't know what will. Aaron, Thank you very much for the dedicated review on this optic. You have a very underrated channel that deserves far more attention. You have my support sir!
Added the Type 2 RMR about a year ago to my G19, rear sights forward just like your setup. I loved your prior reviews and really enjoy the 20k review. This makes me feel really good about my purchase. David Bowie who did all the work on my gun has sworn by the RMR as well. Keep up the great vids.
Yep...I'm getting one. This review is awesome. Thank you, Aaron. Also, Trijicon has the best customer service...had an ACOG that fogged up. They sent me a RAN, fixed it free of charge and then sent it back, paid for all the shipping.
Wow, thats a tough little optic. It may very well be as tough as the ACOG's. Your videos are what convinced me to go with the type 2 RMR for my duty pistol. Everything you've said about red dots on pistols has been totally accurate. I shot my best qualification score in 15 years with the red dot on my Glock. Thanks for making these videos and for sharing your knowledge.
One argument that I don’t understand is when people gripe about having to remove the RMR to change the battery. To me that’s a pro. Because the battery compartment is *that* well protected? And people say it will change zero. Guys it’s a handgun. Not a precision rifle. I’ve seen optics taken of long guns and then put back on and it holds zero. I believe the RMR would also hold zero being screwed down. Let’s face it. The RMR is the best handgun optic. Hands down.
I knew they had a reputation for being tough, but this video just blew my mind. I thought red dots were dinky and would take little to no abuse until I saw this video. I cannot believe the optic maintained zero throughout the duration of your test while literally being beaten off of stuff, dropped, and grinded off the concrete. WOW I am impressed
My buddy's RMR type 2 had internal electronic issues after about 3-5k rounds, but they fixed it fast no problem. No issues with customer service. Great red dot. He loves it.
Right on man. Not much price difference between that one and any others, maybe a couple hundred bucks?! I had a Romeo Pro recently that got dropped on concrete from waist high in Walmart...didn’t break but knocked the zero way off. Back to RMR for life.
Trijicon should owe you everything they have. What an awesome review. I have the type 1 but use the sealing plate with the bubble. So far so good, I am maybe at 200.000 rounds lol.
Just bought one finally. Thanks for the videos and the torture test of the optic. Your videos are why i went with the trijicon over the others. The abuse that rmr took was impressive. 👍🇺🇸
I bought my first rmr type 2 a couple years back and I just ordered another today and pairing it with a zev duty slide for my gen 5. Best red dot for a handgun it’s expensive but worth every penny.
When people ask me why I spend more money on RMRs, this is what I envision. Gives me a nice warm fuzzy feeling deep down that it can handle so much more than I ask of it.
I just placed an order for a type 2 for the Sage Edition Agency build I'm doing. This review isn't just a testament to Trijicon and it's durability, but it also speaks volumes about Agency Arms work and using a Glock host.
When my friends give me shit for how much I paid for my Trijicon RMR, I show them this video. I won't pretend I've never dropped my CZ P10C a few times, and I never have worried about the optic dying. And when I get a jam I can't clear with my hand, I have no hesitation on banging the optic against a chunk of wood to rack the slide!
@MrSmith-zy2bp I love it. I'm still waiting to get the rebate, so hopefully that happens, lol. As far as replacing the battery, it's good for like 2 years and won't be that big of a deal.
Ya, I had the back window fall out on my type 2 after a few thousand rounds. Just the regular black one. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine after a similar round count. Good to go now after Trijicon fixed it. Never had an issue with my Type 1 though. Still going strong after 30k or so rounds.
Aaron I’d love to see your testing process for a vortex strike fire 2. Mostly for validating my purchase but I would also like to see how it stacks up to others
Been looking for a reddot to slap on a handgun and I think I found a good contender. While I dont expect to abuse the reddot, I think it's acceptable to expect any serious optic to be able to withstand multiple drops on concrete from 5~6ft. Kinda funny how most rifle reddots from the big 3 (eotech, aimpoint, trijicon) dont have the durability issues like pistol reddots all seem to.
I'm so happy I picked the right MRD. Granted Iv'e only put 1200 rounds with my SSmr918 but feel this MRD is just a jem to shoot with. Holds zero and feel I can trust it with my life.
If John Wick had used an RMR throughout his trilogy, there’s a very strong indication that it would have looked like this RMR after falling from the roof top during the final scenes of Parabellum. 😁
He beat that thing like it owed him money.
And it kept coming back for more
It did, about 500$ haha

Honestly his videos are what guide.me in buying
i know it is quite off topic but do anyone know of a good site to stream new series online?
@Dariel Hayes Flixportal
@Arturo Skylar Thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :D I appreciate it !!
@Dariel Hayes No problem :)
"rmr type 2 for sale, light cosmetic damage"
Hahaha
If he’s selling I’ll happily buy it
Issa little salty.
Barely used
That specific optic needs to be put in a museum after its retirement.
I think that you may've set a Guinness World Record for RMR abuses, but I'm sold on the reliability and durability of the Trijicon Type 2!!
Thank you.
Good shit Aaron love your vids! Keep destroying optics for us, your reviews are invaluable in determining carry setups. Thank you for your work, sir.
I’ve punished an RMR type 1 for the past 8 years of heavy use now. One type 1 went bad, but Trijicon fixed it pronto. Merica!
Same. Trijicon fixed my one Type 1 that had issues pretty quick without issue
Did they charge you?
@@rockey0614 nope

I was really hoping this was an 8 min, 40 second video of him blasting away and 2 seconds of him saying "It good 😁👍🏻"
Nice man - you always bring good info but a long term edit like that is next level. Well done
Well if you can't break it doing what you did, I feel much better about my $500 purchase of this RMR! Thank You!
Yess. You started fading your music in and out :)
Also, you may as well have the most abused RMR out there (besides any tested by trijicon)
I wouldn't say his is abused necessarily. I've seen worse from guys truly abusing them. The button rubbers were hanging off, glass was all scuffed up like they took a nail and hammer to it etc.
i see you're OCD about that to LOL
I didn’t notice until this comment but yes it’s pretty nice

Astounding work and effort Mr.Cowan. Seriously man. I know what I’m getting, I knew the rmr was top notch; but this is the video I needed to see.
Well its settled. I will be buying a type 2 fairly soon. Thank you, sir.

absolutely stellar review. have this optic on my fnx-45 and it has performed flawlessly over 2000 rounds. thanks for the reassurance, Sage Dynamics!

Question is... Is it for duty use????😉
😂😂🤣 yeeaahh, I think it is!
Still worth it lol
Thank you Aaron for taking the time to subject the RMR to your tests. I really appreciate your original content.
Two battery changes. So you removed that optic twice for the battery swap and still didn't need to re-zero it. That is fantastic.
I bought an RMR last month based on your overall assessment and continued praise of the optic. I appreciate the insight.
Your videos on the RMR type 2 led me to get one. I've got just under 3k rounds through it now and it's been flawless so far. It doesn't have quite the abuse on it like yours of course 😂 Thanks for all you do Aaron
I think it also speaks to the milling of the agency slide that you didnt have to rezero after removing the optic for battery replacement
I have a Zev 19 slide and have return to zero with battery changes. Its super nice to have tight fits like that. I have a lone wolf slide and there is quite a bit of slop by comparison.
@@BillHesse was the zev manufactured like that or did you have to supply the optic when it was machined?
I bought the slide used so it certainly wasn’t machines to my specific optic. It’s a very firm fit to get the optic in.
If this doesn't sell Trijicon RMRs, I don't know what will.
Aaron,
Thank you very much for the dedicated review on this optic.

I was pro iron sights than red dot optics... but I recently bought a RMR type 2 RM06 for my agency G19 because of your reviews and I love it a lot!
Aaron is the reason I went with the rmr.
Thanks for all the testing.
