The idea of ending the series on them laughing and not knowing what the One Piece is fills me with a mix of rage, sadness and existential dread.
I genuinely got choked up at the idea of a "He laughed" panel as the final panel of one piece. It actually sounds perfect
Oda sensei say “the One Piece is a tangible object and that its discovery will add a significant twist to the story”, so he will show us the One Piece... and maybe we lol for the biggest Troll ever

I'd love Dragon being this incredibly serious guy but in reality he's just as stupid as his son and father, but he's just better at hiding it
One correction I think needs to be made: there is NO way Oda watches theory channels. He's definitely watching "Bad takes" videos, and whatever takes make him laugh the hardest he will find a way to work into the story!
I honestly seriously think that the One Piece is just another step on a longer adventure. Roger knew he couldn't keep going so when he got to the end of the line and found another piece of the puzzle he stepped aside and let someone else take the next steps. He laughed because he got to the final part of the adventure and realized it was just the beginning.

Here is why I am not a fan of the ending where luffy just laughs: It would just be another way for oda to say "the real treasure were the friends we made along the way / was the journey", wich I think is something that the entire one piece community can agree on would be a let down. I want to see the straw hats laughing though.
Besides, without a fake treasure to contrast the real one, that saying doesn't mean anything
Actually the "One Piece s the friend we made along the way" would not be terrible. If Oda didn´t hype up the treasure so much (and if Whitebeard didn´t confirm that OP is real), it could work better than if the treasure was, for example, another ancient weapon. Sometimes ideas are more important than objects in a story.

The treasure would be the easy part, the hard part to imagine is what story would be told in laugh tale that would actually make everyone laugh.

Luffy and Robin being half brother/sister would be kind of amusing since Robin does have a goofy imagination and does understand Luffy's mindset more than others.
I am so scared of finding out what the One Piece is because after so many years of anticipation it may end up disappointing us. But knowing Oda it will blow everybody’s minds.

I don´t think it matters that much what the One Piece is. One Piece would still be a great series even without any final treasure. Don´t get your hopes too high and enjoy the story for what it is.

I honestly think just having the crew laugh without showing the One Piece is the most satisfying way to make the reveal work. I don't doubt that Oda is cooking something up, but this would definitely be the safest way.

I will say this: I think all the fake out deaths Oda does ARE really impactful when someone actually dies and you expect them to get through and they don’t.
I love how goofy this series is, that so many of these takes, that people are trying to come up with to intentionally be bad, could actually be GOOD and in theme with the entirety of the story
I don’t mind if the story ends with them laughing and not actually seeing the One Piece… but if Brook doesn’t see Laboon in the story and it’s implied he does afterwards, I’m gonna be mad.
I haven't seen the one piece experience grief or abandonment, ram it's head against a waterfall for decades, or cry in whale. OP messed me up I just want to see Laboon whale-smile.
To be fair, Caribou do add dynamism in the story. He's like a Jack-in-the-box (or a barrel) - the spring became tighter and tighter.
If we do the closeup of Luffy laughing to end the story, can we do a Loony Tunes exit?

Just saying we've never actually seen Luffy wear boxers only shorts even when he was stripped in Amazon Lily. Also this pairs well with the meme that nami and robin don't wear knickers. At this point I wouldn't be suprised if more strawhats go commando than not commando and Frankie shows his underwear to make up for it 😂

Oda saying five more years forever is one of the biggest examples of the Mandela effect I have ever seen. He never did that. He started by saying 5 years, yes, nut that was before the ifea of the sichivukai came around. Then He said ten years. Then eight. Then seven. Then five. And so on.
Yes He has gone way past those set limits, but he never did the '5 more years' thing. That is entirely made up by fans

Caribou is actually a good character. You hate him because he is written to be hated, but he's unironically one of the most important characters introduced post timeskip.

But he hasn't done anything to make me hate him, right? Did he succeed in kidnapping the mermaid? No. The only time he proved useful was during the events in Wano. Wapol, Mr. 3, and Spandam, on the other hand, were intentionally crafted to be despised. Caribou isn't a character that elicits hate. Even Crocodile had qualities that made him hateable in terms of his character development.
@gaminginvirinch3339 He's hated not because of the things he successfully does, but the things he aspires to do. This guy has a legitimately useful power if used for good. Instead, he tries to use it to steal a bunch of treasures, kidnap mermaids, and generally be a scumbag. If he was competent, he'd be less hated, I guarantee it, but he's essentially just this scummy, slimy (literally) punching bag that they didn't need to keep around. The ONLY reason he's important to the story is because he's so crap at being a bad guy that they didn't pay attention to him and let him overhear two of the biggest secrets in the world. But that's not him being competent. That him being so shit that they don't even notice him anymore.
I have to forget caribou exists for my mental well-being but it just means that when he pops up again I go through every stage of grief

When Oda said that the one piece is not the friends we made along the way, he actually meant that the one piece is the ENEMIES we made along the way, meaning that the major enemy of every arc will join the cross guild and become luffy’s one piece (including Foxy, Arlong, Don Kreig, axe hand Morgan, captain Kuro, Wappol, Captain Smoker, Bellamy, cp9, etc.) and because Buggy is the leader of the cross guild he will therefore be the one piece.
I mean the Kaku and Usopp swapping theory would explain why usopp lost all his melanin 😭

Thank you, Merphy. I don't hate Foxy either and actually kind of like him. I also experienced him in manga form first. I'd have zero problem with him showing up in the final saga in any way. I think interactions between him and Buggy could be great.
My wife and I agree that if the story ended with the Strawhats laughing, and that is the end.... it would be okay. We actually like the idea of it.
