- Will It Start? Will It Run? Will It Drive?
Yes, yes it will.
Everyone has been asking what car the recently pulled 6.0 ls motor will be going into. I may have neglected to say it's new home will be between the rails of my 1956 Chevy 210 wagon.
Ls, over drive transmission and a 10 bolt third member. The perfect drive line for a long haul cruiser.
Before the driveline swap, I needed to have the car mobile. How hard can it be to get running again? We just drove it last year.....
Chaos ensues. There is always a struggle with every car I have. Why should this be any different?

My '55 wagon I had after high school cost $100 bucks. Nobody thought it was worth much because it was a 4 door. I liked it because friends could get in without smashing people in front. Also gave access from the side when back seats were folded down. My favorite car for years!
If someone is stealing gas cans from the driveway, set up a can with something other than gas that won't freeze, and teach them a lesson.
Acid ! That will do wonders on a fuel delivery system!👍
We had someone at my house stealing gas cans so we put a bunch of water mixed with a bit of gas and one of the cans and the dude put it in his motorcycle it ended up being our neighbor
Those meth heads go down every back lane in the city nightly looking for something to steal. They try my van rear door handle every night. It sticks so I know it has been tried. Here in Winnipeg.
Put muradic acid in it hopefully he will breathe it to lol
Little sugar in the bottom works wonders
I probably shouldn't say this, but every time I put a car in storage or have it sitting for a while, I swap around a couple of plug wires so it won't run. Sometimes I forget to swap them back and then pitch a fit when it won't start.
I think Dan should do a video show casing the amount of engine swaps in the last few years. Seems like each car gets 3 engine swaps on average. Fun to watch that's for sure
last few years or last few months??
Exhausting. Makes me more tired than working on my own car.
IDK why but I love this wagon.
Reminds me of a firebird I had, parked it by my garage for a couple weeks. I went to go start it, and wouldn't fire, after a little bit finally got it going, and blew out a mouse nest.
And in this episode of DD Speed shop, We are going to teach you how to properly wash the rings down and test a chevy starter so stay tuned. And Dan this is not a dig the struggle is real. it took me almost two weeks to fire my Camaro up. before i found the mice packed the mufflers up with dog food. Doh The lesson is don't store dog food in the garage with the toys.
My buddy had the same thing happen to his motorcycle. he fired it up and it was running kind of badly. He thought it was old gas. Then all his shiny expensive chrome exhaust started turning blue. destructive little creatures.
Had a vdub 1600dp in my garage many years ago. Just inside from the dog kennel no doubt and when I went to put the engine in when it fired up it shot dog food out the exhaust like buckshot!! Some even stuck in the ceiling drywall
I didn't know that mice eat bananas
Man not ready for the snow! Michigan is having that stuff falling down today! The wagon is a very neat car. Keep up the great content ! I think watching your channel has made me appreciate the tri fives more! Never was a tri five guy before, you may have changed my mind!
Dan, if you put steal wool in the ends of your exhaust when you store your cars it will keep the mice out of there.
What fun would that be? His car starts up with no issues? We need drama
@@IEchuckie 😅🤣😂
Love that Nomad… especially after the exhaust was unplugged!!! 😂
My dad had a 76 Dodge Monico. One winter night he hit the ditch. Walked to a friends house. Next day car would not start. Towed it home. Could not get it to start. He was going to give up but noticed the exhaust pipe was plugged with snow. Cleared it with the tire iron and it fired up and idled.
That was certainly a banana-in-the-tailpipe moment!! You did prevail, as you always do!! Lol!! Cheers!!
Best part the mouse house blastin out the pipe!!!! Cool Dan, the LS will make it a nice reliable cruiser!!!
Out of all the cars you have. That 56 is my favourite . Can’t wait to see more of it.
I love tri-five wagons! Who would've thought that a wagon could look so cool drifting through the snow! About 40 years ago I test drove a used '57 four door Chevy wagon. I should've bought it, but I didn't. I also looked at a '56 sedan delivery with a six cylinder. I didn't buy it either...at $600 I thought it was way too much money!! 😄
Greta is not only pissed for the engine smoke but, for evicting the tenants too 😂😂😂 Glad to see the wagon survived and looks to live again! I have always liked this one and LS'ing a tri five wagon for the power tour looks to be a winner! Also, best quote in the video " Why do I live here!?" Keep up the great work and look forward to this build!
When you were questioning if you hooked up the charging system . I could hear the alternator charging lol.
Sounds like a good motor only smoke I saw was gas it's got a carburetor problem.
Can’t wait to see her whole again. Makes me want to put a heart in my 56 210 wagon. She’s been sitting too long.
Wow you guys already got snow I guess it’s that time of year.stay warm folks👍👍
Is it not hard on your engines revving them up when cold like that
Oh man that poor starter lol if it was any good before it isnt now lol
years ago i had a 3/4 ton dodge with a wrecker kinda like yours. what i did was built a 6" or 8" channel rear bumper and boxed it in and painted looked good. what i did was incorporate into the bumper the sling mounts and tag and also 2 tow points and receiver tube . the biggest advantage was if i needed to winch something i would put a snatch block and run the cable from boom to snatch block and could do winching easy worked really good and saved the back bumper in case i sold the truck. just thought i would throw that idea at you then the sling would be much shorter
I thought you were going to do the kit car Healy today Did you loose the back half off the trailer. If you did you can save all the pieces and glass it back together.
Sucks those dirt bags stoled you gas can. Looked to cold for me. I hate winter stay warm Dan and keep up the good work. ✌️😎👍
I love that you have snow already 😅 it was still 15 Celsius here yesterday
If I ever buy a car from you, I want it to come with a brand new starter. Jesus. That thing must’ve been REDHOT! Great stuff! Keep up the awesome content & please do the LS video series soon. Im doing a 6.0 swap in my 66 Impala. Cam/springs/pushrods/trunnion upgrade. Thanks, Dan!
You have a 66 Impala?! 😲 I'm so jealous!!! 😭
I’m not
I can't believe the snow on the ground there. I'm so glad I live in the Southern part of the U.S. 😅 I hate the cold!
Nice to see you working on the wagon. Great video and as always Thanks for sharing it with us all! 😁👍
I would keep it simple and put a narrowed Explorer 8.8.
Evicting tenants on a bitterly cold day in Nov. you’re a hard man Dan
Always golden goodness in one place keep up the good work
Don’t forget about the tailgate cables lol that’s the first video of yours I watched
I didn’t read through the comments but Ironically I had a 55’ Chevy Wagon with the same trans leak. After doing too much to track down the leak and after all was said and done it was the filler tube seal which I installed incorrectly.
Mr.Dan i was hoping you were goung to put the LS in Dani's 57 with AC to keep that beautiful lady cool when she is summer driving !!
I'm glad I have working chokes on my cars but I don't need it since I don't drive my stuff in the winter unless I really need to
I wouldn't mind driving my hot rod in snow but here in Southern Ct they treat the roads to oblivion with all kinds of salt and other metal decomposing chemicals.
The wagon needs a surf board strapped to the roof haha
I thought all the squirrels where in there cages!! 55 nomad you and uncle tony are the best. lol
I really love the 56 wagon, it's a really fun car. The Nomad will have to be handled with a white glove when it's finished because it will be worth double compared to the 56. I like fun cars and that wagon is definitely a fun keeper for sure.
I agree the wagon is cool but the Nomad is super cool I vote Nomad for Power Tour.
Dan will need to leave small white lab coats and gloves for the mice
It's probably just mad you neglected it for so long.. THE WAG IS ALIVE AGAIN!
My 2 cents I am liking what your doing with the wagon.. do it for power tour, stick to your original plans.
Heck ya ! Ls and overdrive . Everything I’ve ever wanted for this car
Dan the floor pan man need to dump the 56 and put the money in the 55 nomad plus the nomad looks a lot cooler. I am so glad I will (never ) deal with that kind of weather lol
My son bought an 81 chevy crew cab truck. It hadn't ran for sometime. Sat in a field for years. He and his brother drug into the shop and got it running. Damn dual exhaust was clogged up with mouse nesting. Blew it all over the shop. What a mess and stunk.
The people who rebuild starters must love you...
I like the 56 Pontiac Safari 2door Wagons. BOSS Mid-Century styling and a refreshing alternative to a Nomad (more affordable too!) wagon
It Make Perfect Sense... I Get Burnt Out Trying to Go Straight Through a Build on One Car... It's Better to Shuffle Them Around and Then They Get Finished and also you Stay Happy and Motivated
Isn’t this a Chevy Nomad? Like the one Tim ToolMan Taylor had in great sitcom I used to love watching when I was kid! Even back then I was gear head ….. anyways I love it
Love this old wagon!!
Yep looks like a mice hotel was being built in your tailpipe for the winter.
Danni that weather changed fast
One of my personal favorites in you fleet.
This was one of the best videos in a while! I got a nice laugh at the tail light down as you pulled in the driveway! Never seen that one before! Have a good one👍
Dan you really need to get a 57 nomad now to complete your collection of tri five's lol
He needs to finish the 55 Nomad first. lol
@@hippydippy yeah but in hot rodding as long as you own it it's a collection lol
Is that a banana in your tailpipe or are just happy to see me? 😆 My prime suspect would be the Nomad is miffed at you!
MAMY A WINTER MORNING STARTING THE OLD MANS CHEVY
I once bought a Non-running Suzuki 250r ATV and I could not get it started for weeks . After kicking it 5000 times an Ear of corn shot out of the silencer . It ran perfect after that
Hey Dan
Fun project for you. 🙂
still settin better than my 56 wagon I aint touched it in over a year
I feel you on that "my fault had on it my property in my driveway" deal. I had some asshat scrapper drive by walk up my driveway and steal an axle and some other miscellaneous rotors and other steel that I had standing up next to my garage. People faqn suck.
Im really really surprised you don't have a good jumper pack its definitely a great investment if its a good quality one
Mouse nest in your exhaust lol
Don't forget a boom mat headliner.
Well. It ran. And that is a success.
Dan, put that "350 in Danni's Opal GT.
You guys have a great attitude✌
Banana 🍌 in the tail pipe 😂😂
First foray into the ls world? I hope you turbo it. Tons of room for it.
Always loved this car. Ya 6.0 LS and 4L80E... Make it the power tour tow rig [pick up something on the way home or what not]. Give it the John Deere, tractor paint job Dan! Nice!
I'll tell you right now lol the diaphragm in the accelerator pump is probably frozen stiff thats why it's not pumping fuel
Waiting on the 2 door conversion bud ! You know you want to
SHHHHH 🤫🤫🤫
A stubby on 4x4 running gear is not bad either.
Uncle Tony is offering you a car for power tour but this would be cool too
When you said banana in the tailpipe it made me think of pig pen the truck that David and Mike over at roadkill garage. They spent the whole day in the junkyard getting that truck running finally got it running and drove like a few miles before it basically broke down it was puking oil out everywhere so it basically had it towed somewhere somebody else bought it and come to find out had a big Kink and exhaust the whole time and that's what was stopping it from running right didn't bother checking anything probably got bent when you're moving it with a forklift or something. Give me something so my new don't stop the car from running to a big problem but usually end up being a little thing that you would overlook
Ls goin in it! I like it! Mo powa baby! Maybe?
Didn't take long for you to get snow, your cold air has leaked into Arkansas. You could do a 2 door conversion on that wagon.
Hey Dan, keep the video’s coming you guys do well in the snow!
RIP mouse who was living in the muffler.
My heart is broken 💔 for you kids. You have snow.
Dan you're a better man than me. I'd be sitting in a burning 56 to be warm and waiting to take out some construction bums
Really looking forward to the LS series !
I can’t begin to tell you how much I admire you tinkering with that car in that sort of weather Dan , man if I had a brand new rolls Royce that needed a headlight bulb I sxxt you not there ain’t no way in hell it’d be getting one in that weather 🤣 your a very dedicated dude nice job 👍
You could put a pound of sugar into the drum of fuel let them take it then it will cease their motor up, all the best to yous and your loved ones
I think Dan should release the video of the theft of his gas can. Maybe it will show that jags face and someone recognizes him. Something like that, it's not really about the money involved, it's more about principle. Maybe Dan did show it to his local Police, and they asked him not to release it until they were finished??? Who knows, but I hope this tool gets exposed.
Keep up the great work. Okay.
That plate is so close to reading 700-MPH. That would have been perfect.
I lost the windshield and frame from a 1956 MGA getting towed to my house.
There always seems to be a mouse house, but no mice 🧐
Always leave a jug of gas and diesel mixed in the driveway.
I would spray ether in the carburetor to get the engine to start.
Cannot believe some greasy low-light came up and stole gas right off your property like that... In my town.. Ellsworth Maine.. we shoot first and then ask questions with Greasy meatballs like that
Your construction workers do a great impression of a hobo in a hi-vis jacket....
Critters are into the tiny house thing.. They prefer the Auto Mobile Home style. Lots of good LS engine build/ swap stuff on YT channel ..Ugly Truck Experience. Stay warm folks.
wow how much shit flew out of the left tailpipe lol
Does anyone else like the sound of that starter when it is cranking?
Thats a lot of shit outta those pipes...lol put steel wool in the pipes to keep the mouse out
how is there snow already,? wasn't power tour 2 weeks ago?
I was thinking that the carb might be cold and you could warm it up with a torch! That would help get some fire in the engine! Lmao! 😊
Low compression on a cylinder or two?
Probably your buddy Tony did it. I heard he's crazy. Wears his glasses crooked.
Utg bottle🤣🤣🤣
It's a potato in the tailpipe. Not a banana.
