MY MISTAKE, LS SWAP FAIL - 1956 Chevy Long Roof Is A Certified Ripper!

  • Yesterday I fired up my LS swapped 56 Chevy for the first time, it did not go well..... Well that didn't sit well with me. I was immediately back up on the horse figuring out where I had gone wrong. I traced it back to a HUGE vacuum leak.
With the high idle solved we move onto tiding up the wiring, plumbing the transmission and building a temporary cooling system.
By the end of the day we had a smooth running Ls Powered 1956 Chevy wagon.

You still have to adjust the IAC, via the throttle blade screw per holley’s instructions. They want a 2-7% open at hot idle. I had to manually adjust my cable throttle body on my 5.3 swap running an HP efi system. Im running a LS6 intake with a truck cable throttle body.

The transition is not that hard. Same items apply, spark, fuel and compression. Now you have a bunch of sensors telling the computer to update to make changes to spark (timing), fuel (injector pulse width),….. You will need a interface to read a computer.
