MY MISTAKE, LS SWAP FAIL - 1956 Chevy Long Roof Is A Certified Ripper!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Yesterday I fired up my LS swapped 56 Chevy for the first time, it did not go well..... Well that didn't sit well with me. I was immediately back up on the horse figuring out where I had gone wrong. I traced it back to a HUGE vacuum leak.
With the high idle solved we move onto tiding up the wiring, plumbing the transmission and building a temporary cooling system.
By the end of the day we had a smooth running Ls Powered 1956 Chevy wagon.

Morski going to love those rad hoses.
It would have been great if the gas can the guy stole was full of water. That would have been the ultimate payback.
That would have been major karma.
That was the first thing I thought of.
Good idea, if you had that type of problem. Put bad watered down gas in the can. Maybe a little syrup as well.
Be better full of piss.
But still be a shame to lose a gas can.
That was my pee Jerry can 😳🤣🤣
Hey brother, Dont worry about your heater being on, My volume is at 100 percent and your heater was not loud or bothering me at all, Im sure nobody else is complaining about it. Work comfortably and dont worry about the noise like that!
Got my local junk yard (automobile recycler) looking for a good 6L for a build. This series of videos will be a gold mine of help when I start my project. Thanks Dan.
No problem dude
Dan ... remember those 700r4s have a specific ratio for the pressure pull ... sounds good ... hope you had fluid in the tranny if you hooked up the convertor .... fun to watch .....
Hey,Dan! Just keep a liter of cola under the hood to neutralize the battery acid when the ol' power brick explodes. This has save my ecu countless times, at least once.😜
Thanks Dan, for another lesson in the speed shop. Make do with what you have.
Dan, i am the one who said something about computer placement under battery, i hope i didnt offend you in any way. you seemed a little upset at beginning of video, if i did, i apolgize
Great video 📹 glad to see you found the problem. I wouldn't worry about the battery exploding and leaking acid on the computer highly un likely.
It's the boots. They make it all worth the antici- aggravation...great channel.
"Fuckin irritated Dan" should have his own channel. He's mad relatable
Dan, pull the spring out of the oil pump and stretch it 60k longer and that should raise your oil pressure.
Great to see it running good!!
Nice job Dan. Sounds good. Your garage reminds me of mine when I’m into a project!!!! Like a bomb went off…but you know where everything thing is. Controlled Chaos!!😂
Dan at least I didn't say nothing about where you placed your computer🤪 it was none of our business, it's your car, you do what you want to do, How many artists do you know that let other people paint their paintings?
Hell yeah, Dan. Your perseverance with this and the Biscayne are awe-inspiring. Thanks for these videos, man. They keep me going every time I see a new one.
Just gotta moving forward.
Bothers me more that the battery tray is crooked.
It's not crooked, it's been eaten away on one side by the leaking battery acid!
Knew you'd figure it out and in fact it was something stupid-easy, as most the time it is. Perfect! Runs and sounds pretty damn good! Adding the tail pipes should enhance the sound even more! Man.... you ARE converting into a full-time LS guy... whaaaaaatttt??

Had a 1985 F150 with the first year for EFI. Idled fast 1500 RPM or so; cold or hot engine. I took the IAC apart and installed a thick washer inside it to limit the travel on the plunger. Works fine.
JB to the rescue!!!! it works!!! you figured it out and she runs well, check that one off the list.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm too lazy to learn everything about doing an LS swap! Maybe, eventually, I will learn what I need to know, but I'm going to stick with the old school engines for now. 😂
Great video as always, Thanks for sharing! 😁👍
Easiest way is to take the whole harness and computer out of the donor vehicle so literally nothing changes from its original setup.
Victory ! A running hot rod, more than I have right now. I have to keep getting after it too.
I never doubted you man...👍
Sounds great Dan. I really like the wagon. Looking forward to back on the road and ready for traveling. See ya next time. 👍😎✌️
When I used to work on cars with my dad, we used an old vacuum cleaner hose to route the exhaust gas out under the garage door.
Sounds good Dan.. another successful LS swap !!!!
I'm happy you got back to the wagon Dan I started watching your channel when you first got it now we wait until we get to see you screw around with the hatch cables again because you stole the parts for the nomad 😂😂
This car reminds me of the Pontiac wagon I had in Vancouver a million years ago lol. Merry Christmas to you and Danny. Signed A Canadian in New Zealand 🎅🎅🎅
Ive used that jb weld on exhaust manifolds and stuff. The original 2 part that you got and the putty that comes in the tube is best. Youll have no issues with that
YA DAN KEEP DOING IT YOUR WAY ( WRONG)love it u do it the way anyone on a budget would keep up the great videos 👍🙃
Corvette and Cadillacs are ones of the few that make nice big engine covers that advertises the vehicles make with their lS engine covers making it look cool.....
You still have to adjust the IAC, via the throttle blade screw per holley’s instructions. They want a 2-7% open at hot idle. I had to manually adjust my cable throttle body on my 5.3 swap running an HP efi system. Im running a LS6 intake with a truck cable throttle body.
I never had a doubt that you wouldn't figure it out , good job 🤜🤛😎
Glad you kept the wagon. Very cool car
Lol, dan on the battery, thanks for the video man👍👍🍻
Would love a LS powered tri 5, but over in the U.K. … that ain’t gonna happen for cheap ! Love the base trim 57 of yours .. proven daily hot rod 😎
A throttle body off one of them supercharged buick 3800s would work well.. throttle cable on drivers side. Set up for a cable from factory
Hey Dan, I'm a bit dissapointed that you even read this great advice everyone has for you. Is it DD speed shop, or keyboard warriors (do as I say) speed shop. Keep doing what your best at Dan.
She’s coming right along
When the DDSS community speaks Dan listens (sometimes) Yay team!
Very rarely haha
Very cool you worked it out have a beautiful day
Thanks for Sharing... Real Problems Real Solutions... Good Info
Sounds good Dan
I Remember the good ol days when our jerrycans had an actual vent that allowed them to empty before shoulder lock permanently destroyed our shoulders.
The cascading acid effect will complement the gasoline filled cooling system nicely!
Hahaha
Looking good sounds great
As I finally own a vehicle made in 2005, I'm having to move into the 21st century. Information about these computerized motors is becoming essential. I've always been a diy repair guy on my vehicles, but not a real mechanic. I'm not giving up though.
The transition is not that hard. Same items apply, spark, fuel and compression. Now you have a bunch of sensors telling the computer to update to make changes to spark (timing), fuel (injector pulse width),….. You will need a interface to read a computer.
It’s not that bad.
@@brianf8621 I'm sure you are right. But when they started putting covers over the engine I got discouraged.
@@clasicradiolover The covers seem to fall off my cars. :)
Just makes it easier for the second time you work on it. Get a copy of the manual book or online and start. Honestly it’s not that bad.
@@brianf8621 I have been using UA-cam and yes I'm doing more of my repairs again
My shrink says I may have to stop viewing. I can't handle the highs & lows. LOL! 😁
Lol
She seems much more happy now 🙂
this is my favorite comedy show
Dan, what happened to your right eye, Hot Rod injury? The 56 Wagon looks great!! Cheers!! 😎
I’ve been wondering the same thing
he slipped on some ice and hit his head so no damage
He pissed off Danny.
@@buchanansleeve7427 this guy gets it
Why move the confuzor? Move the batt under the dash 😂 then you'll have nothing to worry about when it blows up!
as you know I have a 55 chevy 210 and I bought a 79 motor home 454 /400 trany. im not sure ill get it done but it should be good for my 118 subs to watch.
I never noticed you had a dirt floor in that old garage all this time.
Old horse barn
The 700r4 can be built to hold a hell of a load and they took absolute ass beatings for a decade behind cop car caprice chevys just find so I think you’ll do fine I have been preaching 700r4 for a long time in comments instead of the turbo 350 fuel eater trans you love so much but what ever your builds I watch either way
I always like to give JB Weld 24 hrs to fully cure, and hopefully you used the original and not the quick set ! It's a great product, if used properly.
Mortskes favourite rad hoses 😆
lol I never comment but I knew when reading last videos comments they where a tad crazy and its funny as heck his reaction lol
Dan … I have been terrified to do an LS ! I am not a computer type person but watching you do this I think I might have to try
Haha either am i
Oh hey, drip loop on that ecu wiring. You want water to shed away from the connections.
Huge Congrats Dan🙂
Cable stops work miracles huh
If the battery explodes it most likely will kill the computer anyways from the short that caused the thing to blow. I've had one batt blow in 56 years and it was my fault so don't listen to the perfectionist out there, they are wrong you are right unless proven otherwise, remember that and it's your car do what you want.
30psi oil is low for ls it will definitely run at that but I would put a pump in it myself
Running good good fixes too😅
I like the way it sounds.
Love your channel
Way to go Dan the man dannie told you how to fix it good for her just picking at you dan good job ❤😎
Hey Dan, just mount the computer from the headliner bows and that will keep it away from the battery acid and take care of your extra wiring. Just joking keep doing what you're doing brother because we all know that hot rodding is all trial and error.
Hell yeah sounds bad ass ! Can't wait to see it burn the tires off !
That's one lean green machine
About 20 years ago I hade a gas can filled with water that got stolen we laughed about that for days
Circus music syncs up perfectly with DD Speed Shop's videos... except for the end,.. when the clown fails to hit the symbols and screws everything up just for a cheap laugh.
Dan admitting he was wrong, he was right.
Well Done
Almost like you did this one just for me,thanks Dan
I am not fan of the computer being under the hood. GM does it, I know. I personally would build a cover to go over the computer and screw into wherever you decide to mount it too.
Great video man
ls motors run great on shell rotella t6 15w-40
OH YEAH running good
Good work there Dan, car sounds awesome
👍😀- YOU NEVER GIVE UP!
WTH, Dan? You seem far more upset about people offering legitimate advice than you were about the guy who stole your gas can.
It was a joke dude
@@DDSpeedShop Kudos on your acting ability. It seemed genuine.
Good stuff and Wes is mint 👌
Yep..ok..what hit you in the right eye..or
Man I'm glad I never read the directions on JB weld 46 hours to cure properly who's got that time LOL
I knew you would figure it out. Awesome
Sounds great Dan!!!!!
Go long Dan--Go long... 😆
Leave a jerry can out with 5lbs of sugar mixed in with the gas.
Iam sorry Dan Iam a Big Fan jest sharing what iwas taught about the Battery thing you are Right Battery can blow however best to have less contact as you can sorry didn't want to offend sorry my Friend
Sounds like an engine running, what more could a guy want!!!?
Do not close that hole in the throttle blade. It is actually useful for idle when blade is closed.
On a stock setup like this it is completely useless. The IAC is more than capable of idle control without that vacuum leak. Add a cam with a bunch of overlap and it's a different story
@@LSswapGarage1 dually noted sir! Thanks.
The computers location is fine. If the battery leaks it leaks. “ vapors “ aren’t going to mess with that computer. The fender wells looked like they were in it and that’s the scariest part. Water.
Just for your information super glue and baking soda works 10 x better than plastic weld I've had it on my composite fuel pump on my lawn mower for 6 year's now you can beat it with a hammer and it will hold
Was the brake booster pipe. Not plugged in
Beauty...
Sounds awesome!
Are those real firebird scoops
Hey Dan just found out you know my buddy Don with the coca cola ragtop
