    • @МариамЗссам
      @МариамЗссам 3 роки тому

      i think , in the begining all cells got active BRCA1 , then when one cell gets mutation, it becomes infected , other cells gradually started to get infected. for example let's assume the total number of cells are 50 cells , and one cell got mutation , after some time , 5 cells will get mutation and there will be 45 healthy cells , then after some time 10 cells will get mutation and 40 cells will be healthy and that 's on , i'm not really sure about it but that is what i think , please google it to make sure

    • @edmunda9573
      @edmunda9573 3 роки тому +1

      exactly, that was my first question. patient has a detective BRCA1 mechanism (which causes cancer). doctors then disable her PARP mechanism. that leaves patient with no cell repair mechanism. wth. please, explain for ignorant

    • @melissa3401
      @melissa3401 2 роки тому

      I was wondering that too. If it's hereditary that means your BRCA1 is broken from the very beginning. Or is the second allele still working causing a form of mosaicism? Also, is BRCA1 specific for breast cells?

  • @duyenbui9879
    @duyenbui9879 2 роки тому +3

    Wait a minute! You said the BRCA in "this patient" is already not working (hereditary mutation). This should also apply to "normal" non tumor cells in this patient as well. So the 3:02 part where "these cells still have active BRCA1 proteins" is totally contradicting the first part of the video.

    This is all amazing but how these proteins know that’s there job to repair DNA is amazing to me. How the is a subtle chemical process that causes this specific action is amazing. DNA is a wonder.

    I can't help but think that explanation is missing a crucial part. It says some patients lacking double strand break repair functionality due to their inheritance is what causes the cancer, but then proceeds to state that the ability to repair double strand breaks is what prevents all the non-cancer cells from dying as well.
    Without additional information, those two statements feel a bit contradictory to each other: An issue caused by the inherited lack of an ability is fixed based on trusting in the very same ability the lack of which caused the issue, and killing anything with a lack of that ability.

    Awesome repair mechanism!
    It is hard for me to believe that it evolved by chance - randomly...

      yeah becoz u dnt need to believe in it religiously as the science isnt settled yet . Modern day theory of Neo darwinism does a decent job in explaining the survival of the fittest but does a poor job at explaining the arrival of the fittest and Origin of Life , btw dnt be get taken away , Neo darwinism is not the only model of explanations , their are many other models who are never known enough and never talked about becoz academia's fanatic Religious devotion to Darwinism alone. this is just one aspect of Cellular biology and i dnt have enough faith to bank all of it on chance alone , for those who have it , Good for them.

      Surely it didn't. What evolved first, the PARPs repairing the genes or the genes producing the PARPs and all the other parts of the cell?
      I mean, there's some irreducible complexity right there...

      You are right. It didnt evolved randomly. But systematically. Like puzzle.

    The only thing more insane than the complex specificity of cellular biology is that we are able to, from our human scale, be that specific down there in the micro world.

    I find cancer one of the most scariest diseases. And I have adjusted my diet accordingly. Lots of fruits and veggies, very little red meat (and meat in general), fish and eggs are fine. Once a month soda, rest green tea and water.

    how come BRCA is active in the normal cells of the affected individual?? isn't he receiving the PARP inhibitor to kill cancer cells arising due to lack of BRCA function?
