I've collected records for 50 years. Melinda is the first female collector I have ever seen. The only women I have ever seen in at record shows have been wives or girlfriends. Yay Melinda!
Maybe record shows yeah , but at record stores women enjoy the vinyl resurgence . Glad to see young people enjoying vinyl as I did in the 60's and 70s.
Wonderful, wonderful video again Melinda. So great to see these and hear honest reviews. I have no MOFI records at all. I do have the 1st UK pressings of Ziggy and Abbey Road, which do sound fantastic. Sad to here about your daughters wedding situation. My wife's Dad refused to acknowledge me as a potential husband for his daughter and so we had a very, very small wedding. Within six months he had invited me round his house, because he regretted missing his only daughter's wedding. That was 25 years ago- we became very good friends until his death a few years back. Thanks for these lovely videos. Absolutely top notch and always hugely enjoyable. Bless you. Alan
I am so happy that you and your father in law were able to build a relationship. I bet that was one of the biggest regrets of his life. I don't think you can get any better than a first UK pressing of those albums. 🥰 Thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate it. Take care.
Thank you for your review MoFi pressings. I love all the vinyl you mentioned! Best wishes to you and your family. Hope you had a blessed🐣🐇 Easter. Take care. Life is better with music.🎤🎸🎵🥁
For those who don't know...if the record says "Original Master Recording" at the top, it means it's a fully analog remaster from the original tapes. If it says "Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab", it means EITHER it's from a digital source OR from a later generation master. :-)
Thanks for clarifying that. That is what I thought it meant too. Some sound really good and others lack the warmth that I enjoy. The ones that lack warmth are usually from a digital source. Take care.
@Melinda Murphy Ever heard "that's the way it is" 1970, elvis presley? It's cool. I wish mobile fidelity would've done his 1969 american sound studio sessions. Or the essential RCA recordings from the 50's. Or the sun sessions. Or the 1960 studio recordings.
Hey Melinda, great seeing a new video from you. Love those MoFi pressings. I completely agree with you on the new Giles Martin mix of Beatles “Abbey Road”. I’m so sorry that Melissa’s big wedding that you guys had put so much work into planning didn’t get to come to light due to the Corona Virus. I did see the photos that your husband posted on Facebook and she was a very beautiful bride. My best wishes to a wonderful future for them both! Thanks for sharing your MoFi collection with us. I have to agree with Philip here, the newest Floyd reissues are absolutely AMAZING sounding. Take care, Billy-
Hello Melinda- greetings from sunny England. Glad you and yours are ok in these unusual times. Congrats on your daughters wedding- you must be so proud. Love the Miles ' In A Silent Way' on Mofi there. Also DSOTM- wish i had that pressing. I have a Dutch pressing, early UK pressing and the 30th Anniversary SACD. Would love to have the Quad version but v.expensive. Also would like 'Kind Of Blue' on the MOFI pressing but times are hard at present. * Please keep up the great videos in these unusual times & stay safe.
In A Silent Way is amazing. I have seen the quad of DSOTM but it is quite expensive. Kind Of Blue would be great on Mofi. I understand what you mean by times are tough right now. Hopefully, things will work out soon. Take care and greetings!
WOW! Poco. I thought I was the only one around here who knew about them. I have every album they did, on vinyl no less. Legend is hands down their best effort. It actually was recorded as a Paul Cotton, Rusty Young side project, but the record company insisted it be released as a Poco album. The MOFI Abbey Road is the worst sounding pressing of the album I have, and I have many. The bass is boosted so much that it muffles out everything else. One day I intend to use it for target practice. LOL The UK pressings are far better.
Indeed, UK pressings are the best, German/Dutch pressings are also good, pressings from USA are not so very good (commercial pressings). Past years Japanese pressings are also very good. The pressing from last years is good, but unfortunately a lot of Loudness pressed in.
@@renevw5812 The 2019 pressing is not #1 on my list. Not even #2. Believe it or not, the Russian pressing is quite good. Very warm. I also have a French pressing that sounds great, but I understand they used the UK masters.
@@fittobetiedyed5315 Thanks for the information. I should have said 70s/80s. Dont know the russian pressing. But indeed the French pressings are also very good.
I have a few Poco albums but Legends is my favorite. They always have such talented musicians. It worked out well for the Eagles. Lol. I would never rule out an awesome UK Beatles blue box set based on your recommendation. Take care.
I haven't watched your channel in a long time, but the Mofi Recordings peaked my interest. I remember your video in regards to what was happening with your daughters Wedding, due to the Covid outbreak. I clearly remember your story, because my Wife was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer right around the same time. I lost her two years ago in June. The Poco Album "Legend" is the music we first held each other to in 1980. "Spellbound" in particular. It became our song. Her Memorial has just been completed and scheduled for arrival this week. I'm overwhelmed with emotions right now. Inscribed on the back of the Heart (between two Crosses) in White Granite, is "Our Song..."Spellbound"....by Poco". Thank you for promoting this wonderful music by a great Band. It made me feel like you were promoting this album in memory of my wife, even though you personally would never know that. It was like I was meant to view your video tonight.
Oh my goodness. ♥️ I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious wife. What a beautiful love story the two of you must have had. I will never hear that song the same way again. The memorial sounds like a beautiful tribute to you and your wife. Much love to you. ♥️
@@MelindaMurphy Thank you. ❤❤ You come across as a sweet, kind and genuine person. Like my wife was. I felt comfortable confiding with you. We did have a beautiful love story and so much more in front of us, with young grandchildren and retirement to look forward to. I wake up in disbelief and struggle with her loss everyday. I miss her so much. 😢
That was a really thoughtful review, thank you! I have a handful of MoFi albums (mostly Bob Dylan), and my impression is that MoFi's remastering and pressing makes more of an improvement to older recordings than to more recent ones - but maybe I haven't listened to a wide enough variety. I enjoy playing to vinyl records because it's so much more of an engaging process than listening to CDs or streaming, even if we have to put up with occasional pops and clicks. You have a great taste in music - thank you for sharing!
The earlier MoFi records in my collection are analog but the records that are more recent have a digital step in their mastering. It's disappointing but I still love the way they sound. Thank you and take care.
Thank you very much. The wedding didn't go as planned but at least my daughter married a wonderful guy that treats her well. I appreciate your kind words!
"Kicked it out of the park" Hit. You meant hit, right? ;) Bowie, Darkside, Blonde on Blonde, Led Zeppelin ll, Joe Jackson Night and Day, Cars and R.E.M. are some of my favorite MOFI pressings.
Haha! I guess I was playing kick ball. 😀 I say something silly like that in all my videos. I have been wanting Blonde On Blonde. It's a little pricey though. I have always been curious about the sound of the Led Zeppelin ll mofi. That is a sweet one to have. Thank you Jeff!
Hi Melinda, thanks for another cool vid. There is a controversy about the Mofi version of Magical Mystery Tour : They allegedly used a copy of the fake stereo fold down Capitol cooked up back in the late 60’s (no original master tape and the sound suffers) If you want to listen to a genuine all analog stereo press of MMT, you need to have the German Horzu version or a later German pressing. There you get the extra songs that are not on the EP in true stereo and they sound fantastic. For some reason, this much acclaimed German analog stereo mix (actually made by Abbey Road for the German market only) was never used for later versions of MMT, on vinyl or any other format. If you want to know more about the Beatles on Mofi, I suggest you check Parlogram Auctions’s vid on UA-cam. Andrew is a world-class Beatles pressings expert and he did, once again, a great job. All the best
Thank you for the heads up on the video. That is something I would love to watch. After this video was made, I was able to buy a German pressing of MMT and it does sound incredible. Having said that, I still don't think the Mobile Fidelity version is bad. I need to do a comparison of the two versions. Thank you and take care.
The US version of Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" is fake stereo. MoFi uses the same fake stereo masters used on the Capitol original. The best sounding and only real stereo original pressing of this album is the German version.
The next best thing to the West German L.P. would be the version released in the 2009 vinyl box (and separately). The West German L.P.. "Magical Mystery Tour Plus Other Songs" is catalog number 1C 072-04 449. The record has Apple labels, and while the front of the album cover has the Apple logo, the rear of the album cover says EMI Electrola. The album cover is entirely different to the familiar "Magical Mystery Tour" album cover. This was the first all true stereo version of the album (excepting the second half of "I Am The Walrus")
Only Penny Lane, Baby You're A Rich Man and All You Need Is Love are fake Stereo on the US Stereo master. All else is true Stereo, with Strawberry Fields Forever being a unique US only Stereo mix.
Nice little collection of MoFi you've got there. I totally agree with you about the Beatles - the remasters are unbeatable for sound quality, those versions are the best you'll ever hear the Beatles sound. It's great to see a lady into vinyl too - I'm extremely blessed to have a wife who is into vinyl as much as I am, and I have a good mate whose wife is also vinyl enthusiast, but you girls into your vinyl are few and far between. Keep up the great work. I love Styx too, but I don't have that album as a MoFi pressing - will have to look out for it now based on your recommendation!
I was doing that for a while at the same store until the owner passed away. All their LP's were $1, and mostly classic rock. My two favorites are my original pressings of Dark Side of The Moon, and Led Zeppelin IV.
Hi Melinda , I always looked forward to you on Wednesday but Tuesday seems to be the new day which is cool. I have 3 of the first 4 Cars albums on MF , unfortunately , my favorite , the underappreciated " Panorama " is not on MF and , barely in print ! Also my favorite Yes Album " The Yes Album " I have on MF. Looking forward to Summer ! Take Care.
Panorama and Door To Door did not get the mofi treatment and it's a shame. I still need to pick up Shake It Up. Hopefully, it will still be available for a while. I haven't been able to swing buying that one yet. I'm ready for summer too. 🥰 Take care!
Not too many girls in the audio "boys club," but I asked my friend, Gloria, when I saw what she'd bought at a swap meet, "Don't you have that Cheap Trick?" "Yeah, but not on the Epic label!"
I feel extremely lucky to be blessed with that rarest of things - a wife who loves vinyl as much as I do. I have one other mate whose wife is into vinyl as well, but these two ladies are the only ones I've ever met who are. It's great to see another lady into her vinyl.
Aloha Melinda, you have a great collection of your favorite original Master recordings, I don't have any Master recordings that I know of, but I do enjoy Poco Legends album, Allman Brothers eat a peach, The Cars first album and of course Dark Side of the Moon. In the mid-1980s I worked at a used book and record shop when customers were starting to get into CDs they were selling all their record albums and a lot of original Master recordings came into our shop we put them out for about $10 to $15 a piece while regular used record albums were selling for 3 to $4 each. I really enjoy watching your videos I love your commentary also, thank you again for sharing ,Aloha ed.
Aloha Ed. Oh to go back in time and snatch them up for only $15. That would be awesome. Another Poco fan. Cool! It must have been fun to work in a record store. Thank you! Take care!
Great video. Very good collection of music. And The Cars, absolutely! I can understand what you mean about the B52's. Our tastes change as we get older, but I still enjoy some of the songs on Cosmic Thing. It is a fun album to listen to.
It definitely is an album that will cheer you up and put a smile on your face. It is a happy album. The Cars always put me in a good mood too. Thank you.
Love the Steely Dan Aja in the background. 😉 Found a fantastic press of it at my local thrift store. Then I forgot to grab the stack of 3 Coltranes I had found because I got wrapped up in research over the Steely Dan record!!! Such is life. I'm fortunate to have danced to Boston's "Amanda" with my daughter. I feel for you. -✌🏼
Thank you! I'm glad you were able to have that moment with your daughter. The marriage is what matters most. People have lost so much more in this past year. Take care.
Congratulations to your daughter and to all of you. I can't imagine how hard that must have been because of wedding day is so special. I'm glad she did get married and didn't put it off until 6 months from now or a year.
Hi Melinda, well thanks to your passion (and a 'lockdown' re-watch of the Live Aid concert) I have discovered The Cars, and am eagerly awaiting delivery of an original copy of Heartbeat City (the others will follow). Wouldn't have discovered this great 80's band without you, so thanks - and keep up the good work :-)
When I found my dark side of the moon it's still had its posters and stickers and it's a first edition 72 I remember going to see them in 73 to see them perform it. wicked days
Melinda, First time watching you channel, I enjoyed it. I I have several of the albums you mentioned that are not MOFI products, but i picked up POCO's Legend MOFI version at a used record store for $6.00, I was grinning from ear to ear. Legend was a hugh album when it came out, almost every song was a hit on the radio.
I thought mine was a bargain for $8 and you still beat me. Lol. It is definitely worth the price we paid and more to have Legend. I love nearly every Mofi I own and I bet you agree. They are very special records in my collection.
Hi Melinda, I’m with you on Magical Mystery Tour - a very good but underrated and misunderstood Beatles album. You look lovely - that hair and dress combo are killer! Stay safe!
I think I just really like your channel cause you talk about how much you love these specific tracks from each of the albums. Like you actually listened to the LPs and just having a blast listening to them. So cool.
Thank you so much! I do try to always show records that I am familiar with. If I buy something new, I try to listen to it alot before discussing it on my channel. Thank you!
Well done on your MOFI collection, they are a bit hit and miss though. This will help us all when deciding which ones to purchase or not. So sorry about your daughters wedding during this difficult time for us all. Our daughter is getting married in Nov and we are hoping that it will be all over by then. Keep up with your excellent and informative blogs. Well done 👍👍👍
I sure hope by November this will be nothing but a really bad memory. Best wishes for her wedding. I wouldn't wish what happened to us on anybody. Thank you!
I think the Bowie reissues are stellar. I had a VG+ UK original press, and traded it in immediately after getting the reissue. I had been wondering about your daughter’s wedding. That’s a bummer, Melinda. Maybe you guys can just have one big blowout anniversary party next year. Hopefully, we will be past all this by then. I’ve been wanting to pick up that new reissue of Dark Side, but I’ve already bought that album three times. 😆 Great collection of MoFi’s! Really enjoyed this one. Cheers! ✌🏻
Thank you Jon. We will probably do something for our daughter and her husband in the future but you only get one wedding day. It was a bummer but so many people are going through far worse things. I didn't get a chance to comment but I watched a video with your son in it the other day. He is so adorable and incredibly smart! Take care.
Oh, Miles Davis was an amazing Jazz performer !! Find some good Charles Mingus recordings when you can. Good for you. I have been a hardcore Vinyl fan since the 70's. I have a high end CD player and I like digital as well but good vinyl played on reasonably good equipment is so mesmerizing. My sweet wife and I love having quiet evenings listening to great tunes. Glad I found your channel, Best of luck promoting good music!!
Can’t argue with your descriptions and reviews of the mofi LP’s. I only have a few mofi’s myself but I really enjoy them. I personally think that the recent mono remasters of the Beatles albums are the way to go. Haven’t heard the Giles Martin mix of Abbey Road yet on vinyl. I might have to pick up a copy while they are still cheap. Your story about your daughters wedding actually brought a tear to my eyes. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the mofi records in your collection. Peace....
Thank you and I really appreciate your compassion. There are worse things than getting a wedding canceled but it did really hurt. I would love to run into a mono version of Magical Mystery Tour. Maybe someday. Take care.
Robert Saul You have a valid point Robert. The Mofi box, which I have myself, was produced in 1982 The black(stereo) & the white(mono) box sets are good contenders. The mono set should be heard properly if your preamp or receiver has a mono switch.
Great video Melinda, I love the fact that you trust your ears and voice your opinion. I can imagine how bummed out you guys were about the wedding, had to cancel my grandmas 90th bday so Im a bit gloomy myself, but just imagine the party we’ll all be throwing when all this is over! :)
Great stuff Melinda! I got a MoFi StudioDeck last year to compliment my Vinyl (Lots of reissues and 180 grammers)... MoFi is an incredible company! Love those turntables and great pressings!
Absolutely fantastic video! I have most of the Dylan MoFi records and am looking at getting more so this couldn't have come at a better time. Subscribed!
That horse drawing at 12:28 on the Poco album was drawn by the Late Great Phil Hartman of Saturday Night Live fame. Before he was a comic actor he was a graphic artist who did the artwork for dozens of album covers with the Poco cover is one of his most famous works.
Hello Melinda; Some very nice OMR recordings. You have acquired several copies of certain records & I'm sure you have decided which ones you like the best. Of course with collecting OMR's & other copies comes the expense. I hope they are worth the price!! In regards to your daughter's wedding finally be celebrated, congratulations & many years of joy, success & happiness to both of the newlyweds. Be well, stay safe. Tina & Pat!~
For the most part, my mofi collection is worth what I paid for it. I have never spent too much money on any of them. At some point, I will have to do a purge and keep only my favorite sounding records. I don't need numerous copies of the same albums. I will run out of room doing that. Lol. Thank you for your kind words. Take care.
@02:54 - Back in the mid 80s, they had stacks of that MoFi Ziggy Stardust LP for $5.99 they couldn't get rid of at TSS Record World in Queens, NY. That was my very first MoFi record, and I still have it! I also bought that 2016 pressing because I didn't want to play the Mofi too much as I plan to give it to my kids. It's a great sounding record and my only regret is that I didn't buy at least 9 more copies - but I was 16 then and couldn't afford it.
Hi Melinda and again congrats on Melissa’s wedding. No dance for me at my sons but I have been asked to give a speech. That Silent Way is no longer available shall we say cheaply lol. Darn it, such a great album. I did see Miles In The Sky is on MoFi. That is one of my all time favorite albums and would be worth getting. Thanks for letting me know about the MoFi site, well kind of thanks, now it’s one place to spend my money and maybe never retire. Double edge sword kind of deal happening hear. Enjoy your week
I understand what you are saying. Weddings are expensive. Most vendors are giving us refunds but some have not. The wedding ate up some of my vinyl money. Oh well. I will keep Miles In The Sky in mind. I have yet to find something I don't like by Miles Davis. Take care.
Great vid Melinda. We’ve all been burned by purchasing less than top notch new and used vinyl including overpriced OMR, 180 Gram reissues etc. I bought Ziggy when it came out in 70 and still have my copy and other reissues including a 1990 CD reissue on Ryko with 5 great outtakes and great booklet. Same with the 30th anniversary reissue of Fly Like an Eagle featuring a tremendous outtake “Take the Joker and Run” which you can’t find on Spotify. Also includes a killer concert DVD. I know we’re talkin vinyl but these discs are worth grabbing if you find them “in the wild”.
@@MelindaMurphy I also have the reissued Bowie vinyls from Parlophone like the "Ziggy Stardust" you showed with the big "Bowie" on the orange label. From "Hunky Dory" to "Scary Monsters," I have not been disappointed in any of them. Great pressings.
Nice Collection Melinda you need to get From Elvis In Memphis that album on MOBILE FIDELITY sounds great and i just saw one of Kenny Rodger of the Greatest hits album the lp you have but on MOBILE FIDELITY i saw that on Ebay any great video....
Melinda...I love your collection of MFSLs! Especially now we are locked up at home. So nice to have someone like yourself share a vinyl passion. I have started collecting rare recordings since the early 80's and I have a ton of sealed albums believe it or not simply because of circumstances I had long ago sold my stereo equipment whilst moving around the country and never replaced it all along until now I WANT to finally get it back. I am curious what your sound system is and even offer some advice before making my purchase. Please keep posting and i am happy to share what I have in my vinyl vault! Stay safe.
If you look back to my past vinyl videos, you will see a Stereo Equipment and Music Room Tour video. I have since upgraded to SVS Prime floor speakers and an Ortofon Blue stylus. Thank you so much! 😄
Just bought my first MoFi pressing of Dire Straits "Communiqué". Looking forward to buying more. I'm ashamed to say it but I don't know too much of The Allman Brothers work. Just went to listen to Melissa and loved it! Thanks soooo much for posting this today.
Our daughter was named after that song. I love it. I hear really good things about the Dire Straits mofi albums. I hope you have been able to enjoy it. I appreciate your kindness. Thank you.
Oh man, Melinda... I love the fact that you love music so much. I am saddened to hear of the wedding situation but hope so much that in the end your daughter had a wonderful day.
I am very sorry to hear about your Daughters Wedding. I have been slacking on Dark Side Of The Moon. Had it as a kid but lost it on a move many years ago. I still have the poster. I am going to order it now. I did order that same Ziggy Stardust from amazon. And I was lucky like you were, no skip. Another great video, Melinda. Thank you for motivating me to finally get Dark Side back in my vinyl collection.
Hi Ralph. You definitely need Dark Side back in your collection. I think my favorite is Wish You Were Here but Dark Side is wonderful too. I hope you are staying safe in Florida. At least you are able to enjoy some warm and beautiful weather. Take care.
Great video! This is the second one I watched. It’s very interesting to see you go through your collection and offer your opinions on each record you show.
I just bought my first MoFi recently. I'm not sure how it sounds because it is sealed. I'm happy with the Bowie reissues. The Cars MoFi pressings look awesome. Magical Mystery Tour is one of my favorite Beatles album. Some were surprised were I ranked Magical Mystery Tour in my 25 best Psych albums. I think the 2018 Dark Side reissue is the best version out there. I have never been to the MoFi website. I may have to go to the website.
Just went to the website. I ordered two records. Some of the ones I wanted were 2LP albums on 45 RPM. I'm not a fan of one album stretched out on two discs. I'm glad I watched your video. It's weird but I had never checked out their website.
Hey Melinda, this is a really nice video on the MoFi pressings! You have so many gorgeous records! I have heard of Poco but never listened to them. I will have to check them out. I am so bummed for you guys. I know you were so excited about Melissa's wedding. At least you were able to pull something together quickly. Hope you are all doing well!
We are doing great. The wedding went well. The most important thing is that my daughter married a wonderful guy. I'm still a little bummed that we couldn't have what we planned. Thankfully, your wedding is a long time away. You won't have to worry about all of this. Lol. Thank you!
Hi Melinda. Great to see you. I enjoyed seeing your Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Records you show here. I have a huge number of MFSL records and CDs in my collection including the Beatles and The Rolling Stones MFSL box sets. I agree with you on Magical Mystery Tour. I love the U.K. EP but I love the US album more. The Japanese Red Vinyl EP of MMT is in Mono and the MFSL pressing uses the Capitol Stereo Master. I also brought the Dark Side Of The Moon MFSL for $35 I think a couple years ago. I brought the Stevie Nicks MFSL one for I think $24. Great MFSL collection video. Please be safe Melinda. Talk to you later
Hi Marv! I didn't look to see if the Japanese EP for MMT was stereo or mono so thank you for pointing that out. You have some wonderful MFSL box sets. I bet they sound so incredible. It's fun to get the mofi records for really good prices. I get much better deals shopping in the wild. The competition on eBay is fierce when it comes to vinyl. Lol. Take care.
Enjoyed your video thank you for the great info. I'm just getting started collecting vinyl so this is valuable. You have a very natural ease in front of the camera good luck with your channel!
If you are just getting into jazz i would recommend the Miles Davis Kind of Blue Mofi record set, it sounds amazing. The very first Mofi record i saw and heard when i was a kid was my fathers copy of Abbey Road which is still in very good condition. Great Mofi record collection you have there.
Sometimes it happens that reprints have a modified sound compared to the originals because some labels think that inserting a mastering that sounds like a compact disc just the pop of the vinyl to make the sound full-bodied and therefore have a retro sound. Thanks for this video Melinda always show interesting things and I learn a lot from your videos .
Great video Melinda Some great records there. Really sorry to hear of your Daughters Wedding Reception cancelation. but glad at least the wedding went ahead. Take care and stay safe x Paul
I love Poco. Now that I know that album exists on Mobile Fidelity, I should try to find it. "Heart of the Night" is one of my favorite songs of all-time. I've also had the privilege to meet all the members of Poco including Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit.
Ever come across "that's the way it is" 1970, ? I wish Mobile fidelity would've remastered elvis's 1969 American sound studio sessions in Memphis. And his critically acclaimed recordings from sun studio in 54-55, and the essential RCA recordings from 56-58. And the 1960 studio sessions.
Hallo there Melinda, you know that I'm not a Guy that value particular pressings. I really stick to the issues I bought/collected from the early '70. And guess what ..... POCO was one of those bands that caught my attention right away. My "Rose of Cimmaron" (1974) issue is so f*****g great (with all bits, cracks & pieces) should I buy another release? I don't think so, even if it's available remastered or whatever. Anyway your view on vinyl keeps me on my toes, and therefore I'm grateful Melinda. By the way, do you and your husband share the same equipment to listen to the DSOTM album, or ......
My husband and I do share the equipment. I am definitely the bigger fan of music. I am the vinyl collector in the family but he is really cool about it. 😄 Take care.
Great channel. I just found it. I was so surprised about halfway through at the records you were recommending and my favourite records. Ziggy Stardust, Cosmic Thing, and Parsley Sage etc. These are amongst my favourites. I've subscribed. Keep up the great content.
Thank you so much for your support. I must say, we sure have great taste in music don't we? Lol. They are all classics and I can't imagine anyone not at least appreciating them. Take care.
How lucky was people back in 1972 going into a record store and buying the Ziggy Stardust album. Taking it home playing it at maximum volume..!!! Glam rock at its absolute best. I can vagluely remember back in the 1970s my older brother having a huge David Bowie poster in his bedroom. He was one of those lucky people to buy the Ziggy album back then..!! As you know Melinda The Beatles were never happy with the "butchering" of their early UK album releases in the US. I have to say I do like the extending of the original double EP of Magical Mystery Tour into a full album. Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane was destined to be placed on the Sgt Pepper album but was released as a double A side single so I do think it was a great idea to place these two astonishing tracks on the MMT album. Great video btw. Keep safe and well Melinda.
Magical Mystery Tour is one of the few examples of where the US got it right with The Beatles. I also like the track list of Rubber Soul better on the US version. I was too young to be a fan of Bowie during Ziggy Stardust. That is definitely my favorite Bowie album. 🥰
Freaking cutie. Love your aura melinda. Just subbed. Yes, not all mofis are made equal but they definitely make them phenom now. You have great taste sweetie.
Melinda Murphy toronto! I love it, i have met a couple of kittens from kentucky and they all seem so sweet. I have to go, how is the digging scene there!?
@@MelindaMurphy im glad your sticking up for yourself!! By the way I buy vinyl from " ultimate Collectibles ", Friday nite Tony servino " stairway to vinyl " ( these are primarily Japanese presses , the best i have ever seen). & " Just Flipping Records" on Tuesdays with Ed Rochester. I have had good luck with all & they all are willing to take records back! Customer satisfaction!! Keep spinning that vinyl!!
HI Melinda. Very informative video. I have most of the LP's you showed in original UK pressings. But of course they are now 40-50 years old, and well played but still sound great. But I have thinking getting new pressings so I can conserve the originals. So you have given me some very useful advice. Thanks. Nice shout out for Poco, great band I have their first 8 or 9 LP's but have not got the one you showed. You have just reminded me what a super LP 'Eat A Peach' is. Its now going on the turntable. Stay safe. Gary
Having the UK versions of The Beatles albums would be amazing! I'm glad you have been able to enjoy your albums for 40 to 50 years. How smart of you to hang on to them all these years and not getting rid of them for CD's. I am so happy that my little video could be of help. Enjoy your Allman Brothers album. It is a wonderful one. Take care.
Congratulations on the wedding, Melinda. It really is love if your daughter was willing to forgo all of the formalities. Loved this video! It was great seeing your Mofi records and you have a nice set from Mofi’s original run. That Bowie would definitely be a crown jewel. That one is hard to find. And to say it again, I didn’t know Belladonna got the Mofi treatment until you showed it in several videos back. I would love to find that one.
Hey. It's funny that you commented on this video. This morning I watched one you made about MoFi's from 5 years ago. I have never seen the Gordon Lightfoot pressing. I love finding the older ones out in the wild. I also think the new releases are done very well. Thank you for your kind comments about the wedding. Melissa will be starting medical school late in the summer and they wanted to go ahead and get married and move forward in life. She married ba wonderful guy and that means so much more than a fancy wedding. Take care.
Back in the early 80's I was allowed to grab a stack of Mobile Fidelity records and go into a room with a stereo system and play all the records and I bought the ones I liked.
I hadn't seen this video til today,..not sure why..BUT,..once again I really enjoyed your views on these pressings. There are a few of these albums I have as reissues, and now I have a longer list of vinyl to look for. (Again, have to give double thumbs up for Aja lying in wait in the background,..in my top 3 of favorite albums ever..EVER..period.) You have fantastic taste in music,..keep the videos coming.
Dark Side of the Moon one of my favorite albums. And you know how you we're talkin about taking albums to a deserted island. I would definitely this album as a mellow album and then the other one I would take to pick me up would be 5150. Those are two definite for me. I know I'm writing a lot today but I love this video you're doing and I have so much to say. I hope you don't mind Melinda.🤗🤘
@@MelindaMurphy I couldn't take just two records with me to a deserted island. There are too many great ones to make such a choice. It's just impossible!
I found the B-52's Cosmic Thing on the 2018 Record Store Day as a special Rainbow Swirl copy. Beautiful and still trying to figure out if it sounds as good as it looks.
Fantastic video as always my friend! I’ll have to keep a look out for that S&G album! I’ve never heard any version of “eat a peach” still and it’s one I’ve really been wanting! One day I’ll own it! For some reason my grandfather had two MOFI pressings of “dark side of the moon” so I have that one! Sounds amazing! All the best!
Abbey road was my first Mobile fidelity release. I purchased it way back when it was first released. As far as Magical mystery tour, I like the German Ho Zu release.
Hi Melinda. It’s been awhile since we chatted..Great presentation and I really appreciate your coverage. One MOFI pressing that has always been one of my favorite is WAITING FOR COLUMBUS by Little Feat. If you can find a decent priced copy grab it. You won’t be disappointed.
@@MelindaMurphy You're very welcome Melinda! Keep collecting those records! Keep the vinyl community alive! There is one Mo-Fi I wanted to mention that actually came out on vinyl in 1994 that is one of my most valuable records and that is Nirvana-Nevermind. A lot of people don't know that was actually released on vinyl on Mo-Fi. I really cherish that record! Discogs has it listed for a starting price of around $300 on up. Right now, as far as I know, the most valuable record I own in my collection is Tom Petty- Wildflowers. I bought the record back in 1999 when I was an assistant manager at Camelot Music in a mall. The managers were allowed to order any vinyl on the list but we did not sell vinyl at the time because of course CDs were the thing and vinyl had not yet started to come into the resurgence as it has. I don't know why and most people that I talked to don't know either but for some reason that particular Tom Petty record has not been re-released to this day. It was originally released on vinyl in 1994 and only 10,000 copies were pressed worldwide. 5000 copies we're pressed in the US and 5,000 copies were pressed in the UK and so it's safe to say it's rather rare. They have re-release all the Tom Petty and the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers albums except for Tom Petty-Wildflowers. They re released the album in a box set but not by itself as a single unit to purchase. On discogs the last time I checked this album starts out at about $600 on up and that's in VG condition. Mine of course is in NM both vinyl and cover sleeve and of course I have had it protected in a clear plastic sleeve for 21 years now. Tom Petty-Wildflowers in NM is going for $1,000 on up on discogs . That is a great album. I just don't know why they haven't released it as a single unit to purchase. Well, got to go! I'm going to have to start looking at the rest of your videos now. Thanks for your videos, Melinda!
Melinda - if you're a fan of Pink Floyd DSOTM, you should definitely check out the MOFI pressings of the Alan Parsons Project's Tales of Mystery and Imagination and I, Robot. In the event you're not aware, Alan Parsons engineered and produced DSOTM and his music is similar but yet different.
Melinda, Hello great video I also have that B52 Mofi it's okay but not my thing anymore either. The Pink Floyd one that your husband likes I think it came out in 2016 if I'm not mistaken.
I think you are correct about DSOTM coming out in 2016. Sometimes I forget information like that when I get in front of the camera. Lol. I'm glad someone else agrees with me about that B52's album. I thought I would get raked over the coals for saying that. Haha! Thank you and have a great night.
I enjoyed your video on Mofi pressings you have! I collect Mofi myself and would like to mention I have a substantial collection (341 titles) from the early pressings to the current pressings available now. I have to say some pressings are phenomenal and a handful weren’t that great. Happy to see you’re doing well and staying safe!
Melinda Murphy Thank you! I’ve spent several years building the collection. I also have a large collection of CBS Mastersound, Nautilus & Super disk audiophile pressings.
Hello Melinda ! Great video ! Bowie , Miles , Abbey road , Styx and Floyd. What an awesome collection. We wouldn’t mind that ”Dark side of the moon” version , either on a bombastic system or in a pair of well balanced headphones. Stay safe and take care. R&A
I still have a copy of Ziggy Stardust LP from 1972 in fairly decent nick considering it is nearly 5o yrs old. Fun fact about Abbey Road the street, not the LP. Because of the lockdown etc. in England the Council in London was able to repaint the Zebra crossing on Abbey Rd for the first time in years because there are no people or cars around!
I actually saw the story about the Abbey Road crossing being repainted. Funny. I think a first UK pressing of Ziggy Stardust is the one to own so congrats on that. 😀
I bought the Mofi Beatles box back in the 70's. At the time, Mofi had been pretty consistent but I was never happy with it. I bought a German pressing of MMT that I was happier with and UK 1st press of Abbey Road. I ended up getting all of their albums in Japanese pressings and the Giles Martin Mixes (cds too, got to have the bonus tracks). Can't have too much Beatles. Never had much luck with Bowie...I hated dynaflex. My first copy of Ziggy had part of an old record label pressed into the vinyl. Stay safe and start making more happy memories.
I've collected records for 50 years. Melinda is the first female collector I have ever seen. The only women I have ever seen in at record shows have been wives or girlfriends. Yay Melinda!
Thank you! More women are getting into collecting thankfully! 🤗
My ex is a female collector and really knowledgeable about music.
Maybe record shows yeah , but at record stores women enjoy the vinyl resurgence . Glad to see young people enjoying vinyl as I did in the 60's and 70s.
Have you been to regular record stores ?
@@stankatic8182 Every record store in Southern California. Sold at all the major record collector shows for forty years.
Take care.
My father is Stan Ricker. Came up with the half speed mastering back in the day.
Wow! That's incredible.😍
Cool guy!
Thank you for your review MoFi pressings. I love all the vinyl you mentioned! Best wishes to you and your family. Hope you had a blessed🐣🐇 Easter. Take care. Life is better with music.🎤🎸🎵🥁
I hope you had a great Easter too. It was definitely one we will never forget. Take care Dianne!
Take care.
@Melinda Murphy
Ever heard "that's the way it is" 1970, elvis presley?
It's cool.
I wish mobile fidelity would've done his 1969 american sound studio sessions. Or the essential RCA recordings from the 50's.
Or the sun sessions.
Or the 1960 studio recordings.
They are all digital,
Hey Melinda, great seeing a new video from you. Take care, Billy-
Thank you Billy.
Curious about your audio system. What kind of turntable, tone arm, cartridge? Speakers, amp, etc...
Fun fact. If you look at the Poco album you will find that Philip Hartman did the cover art. Yes,that Phil Hartman.
That's right. I had heard that before. Isn't that interesting. 🤗
@@OWEN-CASH Good one.
Another wonderful video from the wonderful Melinda! Thanks so much for what you do! 😃🎵🎶
Thank you so much! 😀
WOW!
My dear Friend, I totally share your comment on POCO. I only have 10 albums, bit my Hot, what a great band they (still) are!
Omg ur so pretty love ur hair :)
Very sweet! Thank you!
Thank you! I wish I had bought more of the Bob Dylan MoFi's. 😕
All of them - not analog for all. What a nice marketing rip!
The earlier MoFi records in my collection are analog but the records that are more recent have a digital step in their mastering. It's disappointing but I still love the way they sound. Thank you and take care.
They started doing digital in the 2000s
Great video Melinda! Great LP's too. Your presentation is fab! Sorry about the wedding. It will all work out. The Saints are always with you!
Thank you very much. The wedding didn't go as planned but at least my daughter married a wonderful guy that treats her well. I appreciate your kind words!
"Kicked it out of the park"
Hit. You meant hit, right? ;)
Bowie, Darkside, Blonde on Blonde, Led Zeppelin ll, Joe Jackson Night and Day, Cars and R.E.M. are some of my favorite MOFI pressings.
I would love to find it. Thank you! 😀
@@MelindaMurphy You are welcome! Good luck!
Only Penny Lane, Baby You're A Rich Man and All You Need Is Love are fake Stereo on the US Stereo master. All else is true Stereo, with Strawberry Fields Forever being a unique US only Stereo mix.
Completely agree with RJ Aranata, I have the German stereo MMT and it’s one of my favorite records. Great video!
I love Styx too, but I don't have that album as a MoFi pressing - will have to look out for it now based on your recommendation!
melinda, you're so gorgeous
Thank you so much!
Smart, Beautiful and Good taste in Music! Somebody's a very luck Man!
You're very sweet. Thank you so much.
Good vid! Ignore the idiots posting horrid comments :)
Thank you! 🤗♥️ Have a wonderful weekend.
YES!! Love The Cars!! They somehow sound retro and fresh at same time.
They were an awesome band. Their music still holds up today. Thank you and take care.
I HavePurchased many albums just for the cover. I will never listen to them. Collecting? Different folks different strokes.
I agree. We all buy vinyl for different reasons. 😀
Sorry but as a life long collector I cant believe a woman let alone this attractive collects records LOL
Haha! Thank you. I am definitely a record collector. A perfect Saturday is a day at the record stores. 😍
Found a fantastic press of it at my local thrift store.
Then I forgot to grab the stack of 3 Coltranes I had found because I got wrapped up in research over the Steely Dan record!!!
Such is life. I'm fortunate to have danced to Boston's "Amanda" with my daughter. I feel for you.

She starts medical school in late July so they didn't want to wait. They wanted to be married and settled in before school starts.
Hi Melinda, well thanks to your passion (and a 'lockdown' re-watch of the Live Aid concert) I have discovered The Cars, and am eagerly awaiting delivery of an original copy of Heartbeat City (the others will follow). Wouldn't have discovered this great 80's band without you, so thanks - and keep up the good work :-)
Thank you! I'm glad you are listening to The Cars. Time well spent. They are in my top 10 of favorite bands. Enjoy!!!
When I found my dark side of the moon it's still had its posters and stickers and it's a first edition 72 I remember going to see them in 73 to see them perform it. wicked days
Melinda,
First time watching you channel, I enjoyed it.
Stay safe!
Thank you so much! Magical Mystery Tour is definitely an underrated album for The Beatles. So many great songs! 😄
Thank you!
A very entertaining stroll though MFSL-land, Melinda! My favorite might be Al Stewart's "Year of the Cat," which was the first one I ever bought.
Take care.
Hi Melinda,
I'm not one to worry too much about whether a MoFi release has the inserts as the music isn't on them.
I agree! I was able to get a great deal because of the lack of inserts. No problem. 😄
I have only found one Mingus album
That was put out in the 80's. I do need to find more.
Thank you for your kind comments. My husband and I live sitting back and listening to vinyl as well. Take care.
Take care.
I think the mono box is better than my mofi box set.
Cancelling your grandma's birthday party would hurt too. I hope this is all over soon. Thank you for the kind words. Take care.
Great stuff Melinda! I got a MoFi StudioDeck last year to compliment my Vinyl (Lots of reissues and 180 grammers)... MoFi is an incredible company! Love those turntables and great pressings!
I love them too!!!🥰
Absolutely fantastic video! I have most of the Dylan MoFi records and am looking at getting more so this couldn't have come at a better time. Subscribed!
Thank you so much Neil. I need to pick up more of the Bob Dylan albums before they are gone as well. Take care.
That horse drawing at 12:28 on the Poco album was drawn by the Late Great Phil Hartman of Saturday Night Live fame. Before he was a comic actor he was a graphic artist who did the artwork for dozens of album covers with the Poco cover is one of his most famous works.
I had heard that story before but had forgotten. That is such a cool little fact about the album. Take care.
I never knew that. When I think of Mr. Hartman I will think of that in addition to his definitive SNL skit "Anal Retentive Chef".
Who new that those old MoFis would be so expensive now. That is an incredible MoFi and album. 🥰 Thank you and have a great weekend.
Great Video, Melinda!
I’d love to find that Steve Miller for $20! 😎
It has a little bit of wear on the front but the vinyl is great. That's why I got it for such a great deal. I hope you find one too. Take care.
Thank you. I still have some CD's. I like all of the bonus features the box sets have. Some MoFi's are better than others. 😃 Take care.
I have that 2016 remastered reissue of "Dark Side of the Moon." I agree that it is fantastic. Super clean, wonderful smooth sound. I love it.
They did a great job on that pressing.
Nice showcase Melinda. Makes me want to showcase some of my MoFi LPs. And congrats on your daughters wedding. Be well ✌🏻
Hi Melinda, great stuff!!! I love listening to Master Recordings on my Dennon rosewood turntable. Of the sound on the "old" stuff. Much richer!
The Mofi's sound great on my Denon turntable as well. I love the rich warm sound of vinyl. Thank you! Have a great night!
Nice Collection Melinda you need to get From Elvis In Memphis that album on MOBILE FIDELITY sounds great and i just saw one of Kenny Rodger of the Greatest hits album the lp you have but on MOBILE FIDELITY i saw that on Ebay any great video....
I would absolutely love to pick up both the Elvis and Kenny albums on Mofi. I bet they do sound great. Thank you Curtis! I hope you are doing well.
@@MelindaMurphy Yes i am i am doing ok.
From Elvis in Memphis is a classic!
I saw that video, thanks.
Thank you.
@@MelindaMurphy I haven't listened to it yet, but will soon. Take care.
Oh man, Melinda... I love the fact that you love music so much. I am saddened to hear of the wedding situation but hope so much that in the end your daughter had a wonderful day.
Thank you. She did have a wonderful day. All is well!
Thanks as always for your videos! It’s a nice distraction among everything happening in the world.
Well thank you very much. I love hearing that. Take care.
The 45 rpm albums do sound fantastic. You just have to flip the record over so often. Which albums did you buy?
@@MelindaMurphy I bought The Allman Brothers Fillmore and Bob Dylan Basement Tapes.
Lol. Thank you!
Really enjoyed this...!!!! Magical Mystery Tour was Lennon’s favorite album...!!!! Because he said it was weird...!!!! Hard not to love this...!!!!
I love that album too. I Am The Walrus is a strange but great song. 🤗♥️ Thank you and take care.
They were on acid, so yes, weirdness is a part of the creative process.
Thank you so much. Collecting vinyl is a true joy. I wish you all the best!
Thank you so much!
Great video Melinda Some great records there. Really sorry to hear of your Daughters Wedding Reception cancelation. but glad at least the wedding went ahead. Take care and stay safe x Paul
Thank you. The wedding wasn't what we planned but they are happy and doing well. This is just a crazy time in history. Take care.
BEAUTIFUL PIECES!!!! Gotta love the Mofi pressing. I sooo want a Mofi copy of that Stevie Nicks and Dark Side. Stay safe :)
Thank you. I hope you find them out in the wild. They want way too much money for these Mofi's on eBay.
I love Poco. Now that I know that album exists on Mobile Fidelity, I should try to find it. "Heart of the Night" is one of my favorite songs of all-time. I've also had the privilege to meet all the members of Poco including Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmit.
It's so cool you got to meet them. I see the MoFi Legends album going for under $20 all the time. It is well worth it as you know. Take care!
I haven't seen that record yet. 😕 Thank you and take care.
MELINDA, WOW WHAT A GREAT COLLECTION OF VINYL.STAY SAFE AND TAKE CARE.
Thank you!
Freaking cutie. Love your aura melinda. Just subbed.
Yes, not all mofis are made equal but they definitely make them phenom now.
You have great taste sweetie.
Thank you so much. I love your channel. I watched your video showing your collection of Mofi's. Nice!
Melinda Murphy hooked on you honey. You have such a wholesome and calming voice too. I love it. Where are you based, darling?
I live in Kentucky. Where are you?
Melinda Murphy toronto! I love it, i have met a couple of kittens from kentucky and they all seem so sweet. I have to go, how is the digging scene there!?
Really like your take on records, I believe your a kind & honest lady!
Thank you so much! 🤗
I have sent back a couple of records back to ultimate Collectibles, a little guff , but they took them back.
Take care.
i found a poco mofi in a goodwill and i got so excited but when i picked it up i saw i had no record in it and left the store so sad
That would be a bummer. 😮
Aja is an excellent album. Everything Steely Dan did was high quality. The guitar solo In Peg is legendary.
Couldn't agree more. There's a really good 'Making of' video here on YT of Aja that's fantastic,..you'd enjoy it I'm sure
Just watched your vid - my 1st time. I have similar tastes in music and you have given me some ideas for next album purchases. Thanks !
Two amazing choices! I wouldn't argue with those!
I remember that version. It was very pretty. 🤩
The chirpy smile behind the screen!
I don't even have one MFSL vinyl or cd.....can you believe that Melinda???? Lol
You need to change that.😃 If they make a record of an artist that you love, you should buy it if possible. Thank you and take care.
I buy records but mostly like this channel because I'm a fan of the accent.
Haha! Thank you! 🤗
Abbey road was my first Mobile fidelity release. I purchased it way back when it was first released. As far as Magical mystery tour, I like the German Ho Zu release.
I definitely need that German MMT. It is the copy everyone is talking about. Thank you!
Hörzu.Listen.
Hi Melinda. It’s been awhile since we chatted..Great presentation and I really appreciate your coverage. One MOFI pressing that has always been one of my favorite is WAITING FOR COLUMBUS by Little Feat. If you can find a decent priced copy grab it. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you for the suggestion. I have heard others talk about Little Feat. That is a band I need to give a listen and know more about. Take care.
I remember Poco, and I really liked them in 1978-80. I think I'll try to find that album. Thanks.
That's a terrific album. Poco was a truly talented band. Thank you and take care.
I have enjoyed this video so much Melinda that I am going to subscribe! Thanks!
Thank you so much Toby! I really appreciate it!
You have quite an amazing collection. Wow! 😍
Dark Side of the Moon is probably my favorite MoFi album. It is wonderful! Best wishes to you! I hope all is well for you and your wife.
Melinda Murphy : All is well here. Thank you for asking. We hope you and your family and friends are healthy too.
Hey Melinda. You inspired me I’m uploading my MoFi video now.
Yay! I will be watching!
I would love to have the Beatles mofi box. That is very cool! You must have quite a Beatles collection. 🥰
