I loved my fr-s. In no way was it fast. But balance, handling and steering it was excellent.

Newer driving enthusiast here, just wanted to say that I found your channel very recently and it's very quickly become one of my favorites. I got the opportunity to drive a friend of a friend's fr-s and I've been obsessed with 86s and brzs ever since. Your videos on your 86 have really helped scratch the itch in my brain about that car. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get my hands on one after I graduate college, which will at least be a few years from now. Realizing that being a car enthusiast can be a very broad term and realizing that I lean more towards being a driving enthusiast was a revelation for me. I always figured I might enjoy cars but it wasn't until I drove my dad's nissan versa for the first time in which it really clicked for me. I hope you can keep making the time to make videos on this channel. I will definitely be watching! If you're ever in the East Bay, let me know if you're itching to drive a bone-stock six speed 2013 mazda3 😈Or if you ever need a substitute Jubbal to make filler content. 😉

Care to elaborate your car history? It sounds like it could be incredibly interesting, 24 is a large shocking number😅

@@Blballerboy yeah pretty crazy I will say I went American muscle cars to Japanese then german and now I have gr supra 3.0 . Looking at LC 500 tomorrow and it was on my Dreamcar list. Not a fan of Porsche surprisingly . They drive extremely well but I would only consider gt4 which is insane right now in regards to pricing.

Thank you for your reviews on the Miata MX-5 ND2. I am in the market for a sporty car that can handle turns well. I have been following many reviews on affordable "sporty" vehicles. From the reviews I was leaning towards buying a Miata MX-5 ND2 Grand Touring. I did a short test drive of one Miata GT and the ride seem to be fine. But I knew I wanted to rent a Miata GT for 3-4 days and really get a feel for the car. I found a Miata available on an online car rental agency. After ordering the Miata for a 4 days drive the agency cancel out on me. A few days later I decided to test drive both the soft-top and hard-top (RF version), and just make the purchase. The dealership was pretty nice. One salesperson let me drive both soft- & hard-top. To my surprise I notice a lot of body flexing and twisting. The Miata car body seem to respond to unevenness of the road by twisting and flexing, which seem to make the car even more noisy and less predictable. I notice a lot vibrations driving in the city on an expressway at 35-45 mph. Then the vibrations and noise got even more severe on the freeway. The roadway was relatively smooth and even, so I was really surprised. I have owned one other "sporty" car. It was the Toyota 86 for about 3 years ago. The Toyota 86 had a stiff suspension and handled turns very well. Because the suspension was stiff I expected a rougher ride than a family car. But the Miata GT is excessive when compared to the 86. It seems the body of the 86 was more rigid and vibrations and road bumps would transfer through the 86 car body. The Miata GT was different. The noise and vibrations were not only transferred from the road through the car, but the Miata car body itself was would amplify the roughness of the roadway by flexing. I am not sure if I am interpreting this correctly. But most of the Miata experts on UA-cam did not mention this aspect of the Miata. I have been researching Miata and convertibles in general, and it seems convertibles have this problem. There are many Miata owners who have modify their cars by adding reenforcement braces to the under carriage and door bars to strengthen the link between the front and rear of the car. Do you notice this with the Miatas you have driven? The body flexing is unsettling for me because I am use to driving the stiff car body of my old 86, and I feel the stiffer 86 body is more predictable.

I traded in a Scion FRS a few months ago for a 2019 Miata club. I've honestly never noticed the body flex. The one thing that was glaringly obvious, though, was the body roll. It's pretty extreme on the Miata. I fixed the roll by installing stiffer aftermarket sway bars, and now I would say it now feels comparable to the FRS, just a bit more twitchy due to the shorter wheel base.

The Miata demands sway bars and new dampers

I grew up in the 70s-80s thinking the best enthusiast car was the Corvette. I was convinced that I would trade my 73 Trans Am in on a 78 Corvette. Until I drove it. I left in my Trans Am and enjoyed it even more knowing it was a better car for my purposes.

In your honest opinion, is the car community (at least the more adult not illegal side) mostly filled with wealthier individuals then those with a more average income? Would love to get more involved but from the outside it looks like a wealthy mans game unlike the motorcycle community.

I wouldn’t say so. In fact I think most people are enjoying reasonably priced enthusiast cars

Many cool cars have come and gone in my life (i'm 59) but i still have my supercharged NA mx5 after 15yrs just because i havn't driven any other sports car that gave me as much fun and engagement i sold my boxster cos the Miata was objectably better and the Porsche was a bit of a disappointment....crazy i know.
