I'm placing a new focus on mental clarity in the new year, and using what I've learned to build positive habits and remove negative ones. In this video I share some tips on how I've learned to build and keep habits and also a couple of fantastic books on the topic.

You're just 21?? o_0 I'm 36 and I'm learning from you. Thank you so much!
Exactly, I'm almost twice his age and in awe with his wisdom. Thank you, Nathaniel
Same. :) We can all learn from eachother. Very well put together video here. from the script, the footage, music. Well done man. of course the content has to be substantial and it was.
I know right
I though I was the only one 😅 I'm 34🙊
If we are willing to learn, then we can learn from many unexpected places. I think this is where the idea of the student teaching the teacher comes from.
At 21 most don't know their head from their ass...and you are talking about all this. Very mature for your age. Awesome. You will be successful and are doing the right thing. Keep at this buddy.
Thanks for the kind words, your comment made me laugh. Curious to see where this takes me (and this community).
I choked on my own saliva when he said he was 21
@@JaimeAlyseAndrews me too. Ha. He must have had a reasonable start in life with some good support systems. Good for him :-) I am developing my support system as an adult in my 30's but we all start somewhere.
@@christinajackson3461 I am 22 and working on myself since 16. I come from a war and was homeless. What I wanna say is, It doesn't have to be good support systems, most times it is the exact opposite. But the internet for our generation allowed us to choose with whom we hang out, talking about mentors. So be proud of yourself bc if it wasn't for the internet, that you had with idk 20, we wouldn't be as mature. And 30 is also reaaally young!! Much love xx

God bless you! thank you!
Thanks bro!
Burn-out is nothing. It's a fake concept.
Thanks. Much appreciated !
You're only 21???? I'm 42 and I can tell you without a doubt you are miles ahead of your time.
You are noticing all of these patterns most take a lifetime to learn.
Keep growing!
It's funny how priorities can make such a difference. In another video, he explained that he did what he enjoyed most so when he worked for, he still had joy in his life. I have recently gotten married, and bought a house with my wife, and I can tell you, at 25, I figured I would be renting. I decided to focus on getting a job I love while my wife focused on a good job that pays well. We are both content, and seeing this video reminded me that I have so much more to do and do in my life. Some days it feels like you checked off your list of goals and you realize you need new ones, and it can be tough, because you don't know when to just maintain versus adding to your experience. I would say it comes down to what you want out of life. I would personally like to experience something incredible but I don't know what that is. I'm full of fears, and beliefs that are hard to let go of, but I know I must let go if I want to grow out of my current life and expand from where I am. It's not always easy and can take a deep change, but a lot of these videos talk about that, and I think it's a good thing that he shares all of this.
@@BornOnThursday Man, I love your comment. It really resonates with me right now. Unlike you, I am 34 and single, but the way you described the doubts and uncertainty, mixed with the inner need to work on something, all that while being scared of the change that you want, feels like such a deep dive in my current state of mind. Whish I had some answers for your questions, but sometimes it helps to just know that you are not the only one who feels that way. The one thought that might work for you, which I am learning how to apply for me, is that fear is really just a feeling, and we are scared only of the things that we don't know or understand- the fear is always a part of the problem at some level.
Maturity has nothing to do with age neither does intelligence.
BornOnThursday if you want to grow, try renting out your house on Airbnb and taking a trip with your wife for a while! You guys could go on a weekend camping trip or all the way to Europe. you are still so young and have accomplished so much ! both of you congrats! but make sure you open your mind to the rest of the word! good luck 🧡

Me too! This channel is honestly amazing! Although I can't do a lot of things because of financial barriers and me being 14 I've started taking cold showers and journalling and its amazing
The earlier age you desire to fix your life, the longer time you've got to make meaningful mistakes. God bless on your journey!
In my opinion I would change "Fix" to "Get in order". There's nothing inherently wrong in ourselves to fix.
you cant actually make any mistakes

As a 21 myself, I sometimes really want to talk to people like you. I sometimes feel misunderstood by people my age because I also think about how to live my life and getting more focus. Hey! Another 21 year old here! Glad that there are few of us with similar mentality! Nathaniel and his channel has been a brilliant find for me!
I can relate
I am 14. And an ordinary small town girl. I go to school, read romance books, and love poetry. As you can see I’m like millions of people in the world. Most people don’t know this, but I have been recovering from severe depression and anxiety. But now I’m maturing myself and my habits, and In doing that I’m leaving some friends behind that encouraged things that were immature or harmful for my mind and body. I’m leaving behind friends that cared about their phone more than me. I’m leaving friends who tore me down, but came running back to me when times got tough. Even when I would be with them when times were tough, they would ditch me when I was on rocky surfaces. My mind, how I think about things, and my maturity levels are now greatly improved. Most people in my grade are still immature, and now watching them have the same habits I once did makes me really think about how much I have changed. I’m only 14, but I feel “wise” per say. Many people come to me for advice because they know they can count on me. I’m so grateful to find other people who think the same way I do. I wish nothing but the best for you. Good luck everyone, and remember it’s important to be happy. Even if it means cutting out things in your life that you thought made you happy. Have a great day and thanks for existing. I’m so proud of you, and how far you have come
Lol, 21, and I'm here watching this eating ice cream at 26 thinking "I wonder if I'll ever not be a kid lol"
same but you can also adult while being a kid at the same time
Dominik Widomski I’m 25, eating ramen with a bottle of soda.

@@nisaniquett Sorry if I overreacted. This is internet in 2019 and you never know peoples intentions unless you ask for explanation. Thank you for the polite reply.
@@bokey777 I should ve added these to the original comment. You are also right it may look judgemental. No worries:)
I put this video on my "watch later" list a year ago. Today I finally watched it, and I cried. Because I felt like you were describing a problem that I've been struggling with myself. One that really effects my mental health. So thankful for this 🙏 p.s I turned 21 this May it made me hopeful to see someone starting at the same age!
You remind me of when I was in my teens.
20’s brought a lot of hospital visits and then being orphaned.
It took me until now to get back into something stable...
I think now is a good time to start reinventing myself.
I know everybody is focusing on your age... but that doesn’t really matter besides being real with yourself about how much time you have.
I just turned 30, and have only been out of homelessness for about 4 years with a stable job.
I guess my point is, sometimes something major you can’t account for can happen.
But seeing someone wanting to refine themselves helps give hope that there is an “after” after something big.
You can always become something.
Any age.
Any time.
You can do it.
Lazy Fox Plays yes but what’s his something big?? I need to watch through all the vids don’t I?? Did he really mess up and end up in prison or something?
I think I want to frame your comment and put it beside my bed as a daily reminder. Can't explain, but I feel like I need that!
"I'm 21 years old now, I'm not a child anymore" and here I am 28 with no idea about what I want or where I'm headed. You're doing such a great job; being this aware at such a young age. Keep it up! You're definitely on the right path
Same. A 30 year fresh stay at home mom that can't financially fend for herself, I am currently feeling stuck. If no one wants to pick me then I'll pick myself (like I haven't, lol). How to turn that into a financial mindset....I am still figuring out. Best of luck on your journey.
"Habits and behavior are the vehicles that take us to where we want to go. They are the building blocks of our success." sooooo gooood & soo true! 🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾
A couple months ago mon-friday work days I started getting up at 5am then sit and have my coffee and sketch for an hour an a half. I then get ready and go to my fulltime job. I fast mostly during the day, drink lots of water. Then once im home I do my short work out - eat then I work on freelance work. It sounds busy but damn I actually look forward to getting up early and haveing that hour to myself. Its now my favorite part of the day. And I am happier throughout the day strangely. I'm less stressed. Sure I'm sleepy by 7-8pm but them I can fall asleep at 10. Sorry I guess my point is getting up early and having that hour to myself before the day starts and getting overall a bit more sleep has made me more happy and less stressed
Hm interesting i could learn from this. My problem is i feel like i don't want to do anything after i got home from work. That's prob why i quit. I am a big gamer. I think i am addicted. I just cannot fathom a day without any entertainment. Doing nothing for an hour for a day? Man it sounds like hell to me.
@@williamadiputra2850 Hey! I mean Technically I am drawing for an hour listening to music or podcasts. Haha I understand as for I love video games. I mean instead before you go to your day job you could get up an hour earlier then play for an hour as motivation? Entertainments also a huge part of my life.
My partner works late so during lockdown my sleep schedule started following his. We started going for night time walks to avoid people between 1-4 am. I'd moved from the country to the city and I find it stifling because there are so many people, so much noise and not enough nature. WRONG! There are nature reserves near us and everything just hides during the day. At that time in the morning we have spotted owls, badgers, foxes, otters all living in the city. We chase the sunrise trying to get up the closest hill before it breaks. When I go back to work I want to get up early because those first moments of the day are so beautiful to share with my partner.
I am 29, I wish I had this mind set at your age, good on you to be exploring this path at 21. Best wishes! Keep it up man!
David Draheim everything is on time, it was a reason you came into the wisdom you did at your age as well as for Matt.
You're still young dude!
Still young man! How has your life changed since this comment 2 years ago?
“Relationship to the habit” - I like that. At 21, I was an over-naive, unfocused, unmotivated, selfish, overspending, disorganized and generally clueless college student. Now, you just need to replace “college student” with “middle aged guy” and nothing has changed. If I had the kind of insight, wisdom, resourcefulness, drive, intelligence, creativity, eloquence, modesty and charisma as you are demonstrating in your videos, who knows what I could have accomplished. In this world of unprecedented craziness, young people like you give me hope about the future. Thank you.
Honestly I feel like this summer is a perfect time for me to reinvent myself. I'm a spiritual person so this year was kind of a trigger for me to do so. I started working out, stretching, dancing, learning a new language, skating, etc. It became too much very fast so I kind of quit for two weeks or so but then I got back to it. I really don't wanna waste my life on what ifs. Learn about yourself people and love what you see and what you are building towards ❤️❤️
i just turned 21, last year of my college. I'm having anxiety on not being enough & ready. I'm happy to have discovered this, thank you.
mann I'm smiling so hard just watching this. I'm turning 19 this year and I just love how motivated you are to keep improving and become a better person.
Its infectious! I volunteer at an elderly home centre and I love having these types of conversations as well as the opportunity to learn so much from their experiences. I love having these types of conversations with my sister and seeing someone close in age with me makes me want more people to be as open to learn and see the world as exciting as you make it! Love from Malaysia XXX
I had a nervous breakdown last year and can completely relate to this .. I’m finally finding myself 🙂
I am 17 years old, in my summerbreak, and one thing i started to do lately is trying to focus on self improvement, so i can become the best version of myself i can be. Something like a month ago, i did my first change in my lifestyle: i started to workout and eat healthier. But i don't know what to focus on next. I know myself enough to know how rare is it for me to be in this 'mind clarity' and not be lazy doing hard changes in my life, so i really want to take advantage of this time. I just don't really know how...
this was truly amazing. feeling the same way at 21, myself 😭 I just stumbled upon your channel & I genuinely enjoy it! nice work
I have 22 years the same age that Nathaniel has. I consider him my friend. I addicted to his videos. Now I still surviver during a quarantine . Thank you Nathaniel for being our friend and share your knowledge with us
I hope to meet you some day my friend, when I was 18 and just starting my philosophy course at university I had this epiphany where I couldn't help but try and orientate my daily experience towards fulfillment and moving from just living to living well. The availability of information in this age is a feature of our world that goes overlooked far too often, we have the worlds greatest minds at our finger tips at all times, why do we fail to act upon this?
You are an awesome production and oratory talent, good luck to you on this journey of life. The first steps are only just being created.
Yes, you’re not a child anymore but at 21, your prefrontal cortex is still developing. It will be interesting to look back in a few years and see how your thinking has developed. And now I feel old 🙂
Marsha Alison when does it stop developing and what does that part of the brain do
I can google it but I don't wanna lol
@@user-sl6ou3qb9l Psychologists are saying it isn't completely developed until your mid-late twenties, which I find fascinating considering how many massive decisions people of that age group have to make.
Lobo
It's just scientific facts lol
I looked it up
It's true
The exception is not the rule
Your mind is full of make believe
@@ubbdaubermensch1528 The fact that the pre-frontal cortex isn't fully developed until your twenties isn't a matter of talent or wisdom, it's the portion of the brain primarily responsible for logic and reasoning, especially in decision making. It has very little to nothing to do with talent or wisdom. I've met my fair share of wise children in my age, but their level of understanding isn't necessarily subject to the pre-frontal cortex. These facts have nothing to do with small mindedness, in fact saying that it's small minded is, in itself, small minded.

When the universe says, “quarantine what?”... get off that ass! Wouldn’t you know I thought about this yesterday. I never spoke a word about this. Coincidence, I think not! 🥴I love Nathaniel’s material.
I LOVE the habit tracker! Never seen such a simple and fun way of visually tracking healthy habits. Sharing this video on my community page :)
I love how in this video he talks about soaking in as much information as possible, but in the video for 2020 he talks about how he sometimes needs a break from all of the inputs coming from the outside world cause he needs time to listen to himself internally more and cause sometimes a lot of information is just too much and its not necessary. he made a mistake, he learnt from it, he grew because of it
You talk with your heart through your eyes. Keep up man 🤘
I appreciate your fluff free approach to communicating your message - this is rare and valuable.
It is so important to keep life from slipping away. Looking at your life objectively and always striving to be better can help you live a better life. Nathaniel is right, life is just one day at a time. We can do it!
Hey Nathaniel! This is a 21yr old female. Since 3yrs I have been searching my worth on earth. I used to question myself मैं कोन हूँ? ( who am I ?), Why am I here... you know the kind of deep feeling you have when you are searching the meaning of your life. That one. Then I realized the purpose of me on earth is.. ( Secret). But the ' WHO' question still remained unanswered which is about my personality. I searched on Quora, watched videos, found some cources which says Personality Improvement tpis and tricks. Then I accidentally ( fortunately) saw ur video that says " If you want to be productive, if you want to improve your personality then change your habits". Its that easy. Now by doing little improvement everyday, even 1% , I know, I will find a whole new version of myself in coming yrs. Really thankuuu for helping us. I am grateful.
I'm 42, twice your age, tons of knowledge and degrees, and probably a lot less wisdom. I'm finding later in life that wisdom can be far more useful interpersonally, spiritually, and psychologically than knowledge can be. Thanks for the great content!
I love your videos man. I was sad when you stopped for a while but im glad that you're back. You're videos really helped me in life and they got me to try new things that i now like. On this big weird and clickbaiting site that is UA-cam you're one of the rare usefull and good channel. Keep doing what you're doing because you're a great dude. Much love to you
Aw man, this made my day. Thank you. I will do my best not to disappoint.
If you ever decided to do a podcast you would crush it. I know a lot of us would benefit from your insight as well. You’re amazing man.
I love how you are so young but with a search for clarity with such maturity. Thanks for your advice.
Your aspirations are inspiring my friend. Thank you so much.
Don’t apologize or worry of what anyone may think. You are so awesome by what I can see through this content .. looking forward to the future documentations and videos on this chanel!
It shocked me that you are 21 years old, i am 22 and im trying my best to be a better version of myself. Right now i am struggling to find a decent job and get on my feet, the last 6 months were awful for me and i want to snap out of it.. You really inspire me to continue working on myself, thank you.
Beautiful and super interesting video. A current trend for a lot of youth is being told that we’re not moving fast enough or doing well enough. We need to schedule and plan things out better to become more efficient. There’s not much talk about how important it is to stop and just be. Just breathe. Because that’s not considered productive in our society. It benefits no one but you. It’s essential, though. Stopping and doing nothing is what prevents us from overwork and stress. In many cases it’s also essential for creativity without burnout. The work we do now would have rewarded us way more free time and choice in the past than it does today, leading a lot of us to think that we’re not doing enough. The issue isn’t us, but I hope anyone reading this will remember to incorporate stillness (without guilt) into their lives as well as the tips in this video. Balance in all things is key. Take care of yourselves and remember that you’re human. Take your time and remember that it’s okay and important to not be constantly productive.
I'm 27 and I swear I had myself sorted at 19/20 however now I'm far from that. Anyone else relate?
humanityandme yes! I felt more together at 16 because I knew less of the world. Don’t you worry. You’re learning more of the world and it’s altering your perspective on things that before you considered ‘sorted out’, you’re growing. At some point in the near future you will be even stronger than you were at 19/20. This pattern will repeat again and again.
You level up as you go along...You also get to harder levels too early sometimes
I had my shit TOGETHER when I was 15. Everyone commented on how wise and mature I was and how far I'd go. Now I'm a mess lol, I have no clue what I'm doing day to day, have no goals, I think I thought life was much more simple when I was younger. Now I'm older and I understand complexities, it's harder to have your stuff together.
Sorted at 19/20 ? What do you mean ?
100% yes!
You are so mature and down to earth.
Wish all the best for you 🤗
UA-cam is definitely inside my head. As I write this comment I am lying in my bed thinking about how I can change myself to be my best version. I have been trying for years to let go of my bad habits (procrastinating and just taking life for granted). Till now I have kind of gotten away with being lazy and not putting actions into my words but I will soon be turning 20 and I can’t in no way let my 20s begin and end with me just floating through it without making major changes and reaching my goals. But I can’t build myself to bring about those changes in my life that will help me succeed. I keep going back to my comfort zone and just being a lazy ass. I can’t stop myself from taking my time for granted. I take one step forward and two steps back.
But now that I have watched this video I feel like I am not alone in this race towards my goals. There are other people out there and you are making a change and you may never read this but you have inspired me to keep going forward. I don’t want to fail again. Not this time.
Initially I felt bad for myself because I'm 24 and I don't feel that I've reached the same level of maturity that you have. I continued watching and I felt awe from how down-to-earth you are. I would surely try out your ways if they work out for me and figure out my own.
I feel inspired, man. May 2019 bring everyone a fresh start!
I am 22 and am feeling the same way. Thank you for your words of advice.
Love the concept of the bullet journal! I've been bullet journaling for a few years now and each journal is always different, but, you're right, it's awesome to flip back through and see the process and journey.
Decided to go through a major shift last year in my life and got rid of my bad habits first ; quit drinking and coffee cold turkey .. Replaced them with green tea .. Quit wasting time at night and going to bed late .. Then I implemented good habits ; started doing intermittent fasting ( Been doing the 16/8 intermittent fasting) , started going to the gym every day except Sunday , started getting up at 5.30 am each day and meditating in the morning .. Started eating in , all homemade food , lots of veggies and salads .. Started finishing a book a week ( Just finished Why We Sleep By Matthew Walker ) All these changes happened last year within a very short period of time , it feels surreal really , I can’t even believe it sometimes and what I have become compare me a year ago but I feel like I am sitting on top of the world guys ..! Amazing things happen in life when you focus on what you can change and control ... Love to you all .. 💙💙
Thank you for sharing this! I am on that path as well :) This is super motivating!
Ademir Alijagic Good luck mate ..! Consistency is the key ..! 😉😉
Nathaniel Drew I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have seen and come across your video. As I to feel a lot like you without a way to express. Emotional damage drug abuse and violence. I’ll change me and molded me into what I am become. At least this is what I had thought for the longest time. Seeing people on UA-cam through impact theory through Tony Robbins through you. Let me know that there is a way for me still. I am 33 years old about to be 34 and I only expresses to you because I feel like I was trapped, put in a bubble and left to live a zombie existing life. Being a father A four and a husband. to wake up one day and realize somethings been missing this whole time. Now I’m in emotional wreck midlife crisis looking to rediscover who I am. And I only realize this because I saw how I discipline my kids and how I what is affecting them.... emotionally. And I don’t want the same cycle I was raised in for them. so I started to start channel to put the pressure on myself because I’ve never put that type of pressure on mysef in my entire like. This is why I don’t know who I am. And started my journey as well. Thx for sharing
This has been in my recommendations for weeks even though I've watched many of your videos and subscribed i didn't expect anything from this one, just thought ok he's gonna talk about how he uses his bujo or something. After watching i actually felt like i knew myself more bc i identify a lot with you, the language learning, the bullet journal, search for productivity and new skills, and when you said you're 21 it surprised me so much, i thought you we're just a few years older than me but we're the same age and made me realize I could also aspire to your level of quality in whatever you do, o quien sabe capaz es algo de ser yankee en Latinoamérica que nos hace tener una visión mas amplia del mundo either way you're an inspiration and guide thank you so much!

I love your videos! They’re transparent, real, and informative while being super creative/beautiful to watch.
You are such a Kickass person! Love you bro
I'm also 21 but dude, I have a lot to learn from you.
I'm so glad I found your channel! Your light is so bright! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences .
Whoa! You are younger than my son! He'll be 23 in May. You seem very wise for your few years on this earth. I am just turning the corner in life, just figuring shit out. Dr. Dispenza is amazing and now listening to you who is wise beyond his years. Life is good...life is good! ✌👍
Glad I found your channel! Keep it up man.
I feel so old now. You are just 21 and already exploring the very thing I wish I had considered in the earlier years.
Haha! I wish I were as wise as you when I was 21.
Keep going!!
Thank you for this soooooo much. I have a really crazy life and there are moments where I do reallyyyyyy good and work hard and accomplish many things and moments where I'm so down the it just gets bad (bipolar). And lately I've been trying to reinvent myself for the past 3 months and I've been doing better and better at it and last week I was actually happy. I've been doing the same kind of stuff as you (meditation, cold showers, journals, etc.) Well lately I've felt that depressed period start coming around the corner and it's making everything so much harder but this video has given me so much more hope and you really boosted my mood. It's helping me beat that cycle because I don't want to go back into that period. Thank you!!!
I thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Watching or even listening to your videos is kinda meditative for me. At the same time I pause your videos several times, thinking about me, myself and my habits, trying to establish some of your advices. Your videos really have some impact on me. Thank you! 💙
same goals as me for 2019! so far so good

Hey Nat, discovered you a week ago and I'm loving all your self growth content and particularly your editing style that just exudes so much feeling of inspiration on it's own. May I know where did you get all your background music from?
You are a superb storyteller, who comes across as incredibly articulate, and genuine. You honestly have so much going for you! Wishing you all the best.
I am so happy that i somehow (accidentally) have found your channel!
I recently became 21 too. And it is weird but,, the fact that you’re 21 too doesn’t make me feel bad or jealous. It’s opposite - it and your videos inspire me. And a lot of things that you tell about yourself are (almost) the same as me (just “a bit” worse)
You are the last drop (and a very big one) in my cup of going and starting to change my life around.
Thank you. Thank you very much!
Natt, 1 year ago : I’m 21yo now, I’m not a child anymore.
Me, just turned 21 in May 2020 : what?!
Me, turned 21 in this month... WHAT?
To all youngsters out there reinvent while you're young.
I went to a "prestigious" college prep school and continued onto a liberal arts college and you are by far the most mature person I've met at 21. Keep it up man you're destined to do great things
I relate to every word you said. You literally saving me from my current situation. Thank you.
Enjoy 21...when you are 40 you will realize 21 is very young. 🍵
Thats so damn true thanky
Yes
is 26 still young?
@@wesmoto2550 Yes. Look into every scholarship, fellowship, funded project that you can while you still meet the age requirement... And if you're not qualified yet for an opportunity that interests you, make a plan to be qualified and then apply!
Wesmoto Yes it is. Keep an open mind. My parents are in their mid 60s and they are the most young minds I know. Open to learning and growth. It’s important to learn to enjoy every age and not be in a hurry to grow up. If u see everything and try to become perfect in a mad rush by 30 what are u going to do when are 40? Every age is special and must be enjoyed. Even the mistakes we make shape us into who we are.

Nathaniel, you inspire me so much, brother... the way you speak really makes sense to me man, almost like you talk to my soul
You have no idea how fortunate you are to have this kind of self-awareness and wisdom at your age! Good luck and thank you for your videos! I recently stumbled upon you and have enjoyed your work.
Nathaniel Drew: I'm not a child anymore
Also Nathaniel Drew: I'm just a kid on the Internet
Most people are in some sense still children at 21, just saying brother. You seem to be on a good streak, keep it up.
I'm 21 and have the same endeavor as you, and I'm glad to see another person that has the same habit. Thank you, it's reassuring to see that I'm in same time span as you, and feel less late compared to other people who are apparently "succeeding". Thank you dude.
Found your channel. Changing my life. Mad respect and love.
Who is going to change their lives this year? 👋
🤞
Hey man, nice videos, but mostly i like how you express your ideas :)
Thank you man!
Stumbled upon your channel, and I am loving the content you make.

Sending love all the way from Manila. Here’s to Mental Clarity!
I love that you're ambitious and that you're confident with being so passionate. Dude, your videos kinda help me to calm down at the end of the day and to fall asleep peacefully and with positive attitude.
