    This vid most definitely inspired me to attempt to land an internship. I switched from CS to EE and have been calling all local companies. I’ve redone my resume and have received rejections but I know someone will hire me. Great vid bro. Been subbed for awhile but this video was too inspirational so I had to comment 😂
    Update: Just got an electrical engineering internship with a gas and oil company that has secured me a job already. Thanks for the video and best of luck to anyone who reads this. You got it!

      Lmao 😂 appreciate it man. I never know who’s actually watching these so it’s nice to hear it.
      And something to keep in mind for trying to get an internship following this process is that, it’s important for you to physically go there. Whether it’s you or your friends driving /walking there. You want to be face to face with the receptionist and sell the “interview project” for school. There are specific details to this style that make it work 1/10 times. If you just continue to call and ask about internships it may only work 1/100 or 1/1000 times. Which means it may not be worth it to do that 😅 haha best of luck man. Glad to hear from you!

      @@KyleGillis first time I heard of that approach and it's so good. I can't believe I've never heard of it before. Will be sharing. Show's the value of having experienced mentor figures in this industry.

    Hey Kyle! Hope you're doing well. This was a very useful video for every engineering students. I do have a question to you. In my university there's no course called industrial engineering but they do have manufacturing engineering. Do you think both of them are the same ?

    • @KyleGillis
      @KyleGillis  6 років тому

      Great question. I actually had a similar question myself just this week.. I’m not familiar with manufacturing engineering’s course load, so i can’t really say if you learn the same things. BUT I’m assuming they do certainly overlap in many ways revolving around the manufacturing concepts since IE’s are heavily involved in it.
      I’m not sure if manufacturing engineers take classes like “operations research” or coding classes that add a little versatility to it.

    What kinds of jobs can an industrial engineer get? I heard consulting... But are there more? Also explain if masters in industrial engineering would be better or mba for management positions in any fields like consulting or something please... Your videos are extremely helpful

    • @ENGRingSuccess
      @ENGRingSuccess 4 роки тому +1

      IMO probably the better route to go is to start working and rack up some experience before you get the masters in either. It's pretty difficult for a company to justify the higher pay (in some industries) for someone that comes straight out of school with a Masters and no full-time work experience. Once you've worked in industry for 2+ years, you'll not only get a better idea of which of the two would be best for your specific role, but you might even find a company willing to finance the masters for you. Every mentor I've talked to has shared that their graduate degree has provided more value in terms of skills learned for their job, not necessarily for finding new work/ jobs. People generally focus more on your body of work for qualifying you for a position. Ex. If I'm hiring for a management position, I'd rather hire the person with a couple of years working in the group, than a person that has no work experience but just finished their MBA.

    I have been watching your video and they all rich of knowledge about engineering so i am about to start my first semester in engineering so my question is does the name of the school help you to get a internship or it all depends on what i can do?

    • @KyleGillis
      @KyleGillis  6 років тому

      Def depends on what you can do... for the past several years I’ve realized 90% of these opportunities are about what you make of them. Same with when you get the internship! Most people just simply go along with whatever they tell them to do. Of course do that, but also ask a lot of questions and try to get more work - take initiative and be logical.. what does the business need to succeed?
      The school names attract companies to the career fairs and all that. And yeah.. some companies hire from specific schools. BUT if you take the initiative and reach and show that you’re truly interested in what they do, then you’ll get the same opportunities. Good luck!! 🍀

    The uni am attending to join list the industrial engineering as "bachleor of science in industrial engineering" like is it the same or it is different? I mean the word science is confusing me . I hope you answer

    • @KyleGillis
      @KyleGillis  6 років тому +1

      Hey yousif, so there are 2 categories for degrees..
      1. Bachelor of Arts
      2. Bachelor of science
      Most engineering degrees will be labeled as the 2nd one since it’s a technical major that requires you to spend more time in that specific area of study compared to a bachelor in arts which allows you to take classes in more different areas to diversify what you’re learning.
      In short.. Industrial engineering is considered a “bachelor of science in industrial engineering”. So they’re the same thing!
